Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's cherry turnovers to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “Some Memories Are Priceless” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

Tired Dog

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard.  I could tell from his
collar, (though no tags), and well-fed belly that he had a home. He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep on the couch.

Morgan seemed ok with him so I let him nap. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position on the couch, and slept for an hour.  This continued for several weeks.

Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: 'Every afternoon your dog comes to
my house for a nap. I don't mind but want to be sure it's ok with you.' The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: 'He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. May I come with him tomorrow?'

Food For Thought

A Quiz
(Author Unknown)

Take the following quiz:

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?
The lesson?

The people who make a difference in life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Joan, Everyfriends...good Sunday morning....

Once again we reach the end, of a now..." old week..."

Joan, Phyllis, ah yes, " memories.." good or bad, but let us concentrate on those good....no one can ever take away from our hearts, or are they locked up tight within our brain?.....I may be wrong but, it is even quite possible that people who suffer Dementia - Alzheimer, can still have flashbacks of " good " memories....

" Thought of the Day..." I do that all the time, I will always head towards someone and make some form of conversation....You never know...they may just might be needing it....

Nothing on my today agenda, still need to find myself a church, maybe now things are getting organised, out the way, done with, I will get my head together and seriously find one....

Wishing all a calm, and stress - free Sunday...

Amy

Good morning

Starting out to be a nice day, just wish the temperature didn't jump from 52 to in the high 80's!!

Going to visit son and daughter in love this morning, we won't stay long as he heads out to work this afternoon.

Phyllis, yes some memories are pricelss and will bring a smile or laugh when thought about.

Jackie, good morning

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm off to church at 8...it's my turn to read the lesson.  Then home to change my clothes.  Later, I'll drop Beverly off to spend some time with friends and then my niece, sister and families will pick me up to spend the afternoon at my BIL's family reunion.  I've been going with them for years now and they've always made me feel like family.

Tonight will be another night with the Olympics.  I hope you all have a great time today...rest or action as you prefer.

This was posted in another forum I post on......

This brings it on home, the reality, how scared and frightened they were, yet duty pushed them on, duty for their country, and at what price?....Very moving, very touching.....

A June Evening In The trenches........

What they said:

Captain: Over the top tomorrow, Joe, We’re going to trounce the Hun. And we will fight for England’s right, The war will soon be won.

Private: Yes, I am good and ready, sir, I’m with you all the way. We’ll have our hour of glory, sir, And we will win the day.

What they thought:

Captain: How I dislike this war, Joe, How I dislike this war. I wish that I could tell you What this great war is for.

Private: I don’t like this ’ere war, sir, I don’t like this ’ere war, And I ’ave been a wondering, sir, What this ’ere war is for.

Captain: A year ago in June, Joe, I finished my degree, And life was good in Cambridge, With all set fair for me.

Private: A year ago in June, sir, I worked upon a farm And we made merry in the hay And didn’t do no harm.

Captain: I’m scared to leave the trench, Joe, Why should I kill a man? But I must try to set you An example if I can.

Private: I’m scared to leave the trench, sir, I’m scared to kill a man, I’d quite like to desert, sir, But I don’t think I can.

Captain: It’s my job as an officer To make you want to fight, To hate the Hun and wield a gun. I wish I thought this right.

Private: If I desert they’ll kill me, But the Hun will if I stay. It isn’t at all fair, sir, I can’t win either way.

Captain: How I dislike this war, Joe, How I dislike this war. I wish things could go back, Joe, To how they were before.

Private: I don’t like this ’ere war, sir, I don’t like this ’ere war. I wish things could go back, sir, To how they was before.

Hi everyone on another hot and humid day but with the chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon.  I will be going to Sunday School and Church in about little bit, pick up something for our main meal today and then spend the rest of the day quietly and restfully.

It seemed like yesterday I spent most of the day in the kitchen.  Not being a cook everything I do in the kitchen seems to take a long time.  However, I got it done.  I actually fixed some sausage muffins for Pat's breakfast for the next few days and they turn out well.  I fixed sort of a soup/stew for our dinner last night although the crock pot did most of the work.

Pat is not feeling any better but fortunately when she is sitting in her easy chair her sciatic nerve does spasm or hurt.

I will skip individual comments today.  Most of what I would have said has been commented on by other and my time is limited.  I have read all of the fine postings.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  You are becoming quite the cook.  I am so sorry Pat isn't feeling any better.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, We finally got a thunderstorm here. A hum-dinger of one. First one in the 2 years I have been here. We lost power for several hours. St least I had the cell phone so called my daughter and told her no Skype because no power.  I did finally get that working yesterday. A tree fell on a car in this town during that storm. Just heard that on TV.

DON  I will be listening to your program today.

HAL  I bought a tall stool for my kitchen here but now I cannot use it. I have a hard time getting up on it. So now it sits there in the way. Of course being short to begin with did not help me.

PHYLLIS  another wonderful graphic for this week, the words are so true. Thanks.

JOAN  a cherry turnover looks wonderful. Food for Thought is so true. We remember those who mean the most to us. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  after the storm late yesterday afternoon this morning the air feels great coming in the windows. Rained hard for about 20 minutes.

JANE  my DIL's family always make me feel like a member of the family. I knew most of them before my son married her.

JOAN  I know you will enjoy Joe, Kate and Finlay when they get there. I sure would love to see a new photo of that cute tiny redhead in front of that huge teddy bear. Been too long since we have seen an update photo of him. His “Aunties” miss them.

Good morning, Sandy.  The temp here is now 86° and rising.

Gloria--Good morning.  We need rain, but not quite as severe as you got.  Glad you have your cell phone to contact Regina when you lose power.  GREAT that you got Skype working again.  I'll try to have Joe take pictures while they are here.  They should be here anytime now.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well the wife and I are going to play hooky from church this morning.  She is still not feeling up to par and my energy level is bordering on empty.

Joanie, I know you must be on pins and needles waiting for the kids.  Strange isn't it, no matter how old they get or how successful they are, they are still your kids and always will be.

The same with those that have already passed on, as Phyliss graphic says, they certainly bring a smile to our faces with some of the memories.

Larry, I spent a little time in the kitchen yesterday, but nothing as elaborate as you, mine was Chicken noodle soup at lunch and egg on toast with a little ham for me.  But my wife didn't want anything to heavy. And I did clean up afterwards in the kitchen.

Humid out this morning....yuck.

June Drabek

Good Sunday Morning,or should we call the day Sonday ? In honor of our Lord ??? Just another of those meandering thoughts.

Last evening we had George Rossi playing music for us. He has a machine full of CD music and he himself is a drummer…very good. Another one who plays "Pretty Woman", so you know who had to sneak off to the back to dance with my cart. I don't know what it is about that particular tune that just grabs me, but it never fails to get me on my feet.

Up at six o'clock. Had a nice long shower and shampoo, and now here with the cup of coffee.

Today is your day Bis, and I pray you enjoy every single second of each hour your family is with you. And do take a lay-down rest when necessary.

Jackie, "An Evening in the trenches" was very touching..thank you for sharing. Why do we not ever learn…the same old beat of battles goes on, century after century.

Gloria, how I would love to have a good storm come to our area. We are having cloudy days till afternoon, and then a weak sun comes out, so our temps are staying in the low 80's. I have my ceiling fan going and the windows open, so don't need the A/C. I admire your ability to work on your computer. And happy you retained Skype I know you and your daughter enjoy that.

Time to make my bed, have a light breakfast and get ready for Church. I am so happy it is at 10 a.m., it takes me that long to come alive in the mornings.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Vanilla-Jackie

Junedrabek must be terrible being forced into doing something that someone doesn't want....no way out, but to follow orders...

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  I hope you and your wife feel better soon.  Good for you fixing a meal.

June--Good morning.  Where there's music being made, we can count on your to grab your card and have a dance.  Joe called about half an hour ago and they got slowed down by a terrible storm in northern FL so they aren't here yet.

Vanilla-Jackie--That's for sure.

Good Afternoon Everyone...

I just took a walk down the street and loaded up on
chocolate fudge ice cream, chocolate chip cookies,  and
pizza with pepperoni ...

Oh woe is me..   I am going to pig out and enjoy over
eating today,  but back to the wieght loss grind
tomorrow...  The only battle I am winning now is maintaining
my weight loss.   But I am still trapped on a plateau,
and I am sure today won't help..

Tomorrow is another day, today I am going
to be BAD!

Good that some of you men can help out in the Kitchen. I was never that lucky. Only time I let one in he set fire to my oven. SIL can't cook but really good cleaners when meals done.

Don. Glad Bubbles. arrived. Must be tired. She will be ready to go soon. Maybe next Sunday she will say a few words of Radio.

Larry. I love to have Sausage and biscuits in my freezer also for quick meal. I prefer on Biscuits. Use just the frozen once. One brand have Southern and work good.

Well Another lazy Sunday for me today. Not as hot out but still high 80s and humid. So. Read the big Sunday paper. Same old news. That did not take long. Set computer to do a Full Scan. This takes about 3 hours. Took a hour nap. Now making a fast easy dinner.
Making Southern Fry Chicken. Just put one can of New Potatoes. Don't use them often but good when you roll them in the Egg,Panko that the chicken was covered. Popped into the skillet with the chicken. Will do some green beans but will most probably just have a piece of chicken and a salad. Rest will make 2 meals for later.
Watching some of the Olympics.  Only interested in the Swimming, Gymnastics, Couple of others not on yet.  As usual, China and Japan picking up most the golds. Have to say. They are good. But lots of time left yet.

Couple of my shows on TV  tonight. So that is my day . Feel a little guilty not doing walking but out a lot tomorrow. It will make it up.

June Drabek

I came home from Church and did some checking on some past medical stuff. It was interesting to read how things have changed from past years, and that others still remain a problem. I'm glad I kept those minute records. Went down at noon for a tasty turkey dinner and good company to chat with. I am either a very slow eater, or I do most of the talking, as everyone else is on their dessert and I haven't finished my entree. Whatever...then I came home, put on comfy clothing and stretched out to read and doze. A nice Sunday of leisure.

I hope Joe and his family made it through the storm in No. Florida that Bis mentioned. Hopefully they are all busy right now catching up on hugs and news.

It is so nice seeing Jeanne Lee's face popping up on the computer. She has a great smile. And I pray she will be up to posting soon.

Gloria de, I'm glad you got out with your friend to do some shopping. I know how tiring we can get over tasks that used to be a breeze, but once rested, you have good memories of the trip.

Don, I am not surprised that Bubble was too tired to go to the studio today, I'm sure it will take two or three days for her to really feel peppy again. That was a long and tiring journey she had, so just enjoy the peace of being near one another again, and let all the other plans wait.
As long as we are here, let's dance.
