Amen......now to rejoice!!!!!

Good morning everyone...

We went to daughter and son in love's for dinner last night, he did the bbqing and oh my was it delicious!!! We had a great time but hubby was tuckered out ,sneaking in a few cat naps on the way home Our timing was perfect as the fog was just setting in as we got home.

Today VON comes and nothing else is planned. I managed to get my floors washed and ironing done yesterday so a resting day it is.

Gloria, to me that would be the best gift, ginger snaps and cold milk is high on my list!

Callie, despite the full tummy from dinner, reading your post about your meal had me heading to the hidey hole for your treats!

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter .

Happy Easter Morn!  Thank you, Jeanne Lee, for posting the graphic.

A late but still heartfelt "Happy Birthday, Gloria!".

I wish I could see the Lilacs, Lloyd.  We had huge lilac bushes at the house where I was born...back in Kansas.  Lilacs don't do well here in NC where I live now.  Our winters don't get cold enough for them, I think.

Make it a good day, Everyone.

Gloria

Good morning everyone and have a HAPPY EASTER. I will go to my son's later. Good company and food.

CALLIE  after all you did in the morning you earned your being a Recliner Radish in the afternoon.

HAL  thank you. At 86 how many more do you wish on me?

JUNE  thank you, yes my birthday is on income tax day. In this are we have till Tuesday to file. Being on a Saturday and ours goes to Mass. And Monday is Patriots Day there and a holiday so a couple of extra days.

JANE  a different place to shop yesterday?

SHIRLEY  thank you.

JANE  thank you.

CALLIE  thank you. With my sweet tooth I will have a bit of the cake if any is left.

MARY ANN  thank you. We might get close to 80° this afternoon. Will believe it when I see it.

JEANNE LEE  Beautiful graphic for today.

PHYLLIS  Love the way you did this graphic, simple and meaningful.

AMY  glad you enjoyed the BBQ and made it home before the fog set in. I was telling my daughter that I had my CNA buy me some ginger snaps at the market but they are no where as good as home made. So that darling daughter made some for me. Not one was broken either.

LLOYD  when I see the lilacs blooming I know the cold weather is over. My son did not have any last year, the caterpillars ate every thing on the trees and bushes. Hope if they start again this year they will be smart enough to spray.

PHYLLIS  thank you, any time is the right time. My daughter is like me with a love of lilacs and she tried growing them in Cal. But it was too hot there.

Have a wonderful Easter.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  We have a another nice day for Easter.  We will miss the Easter service today as just don't feel up to getting out.  I hate to miss going as it is one of the few days we see our church generally full.

Yesterday I did drive down to the Masonic Lodge and purchase two of their BBQ dinners.  There was so much food that one of the meals feed both Pat and I last night with some BBQ and hash with rice left over.  We will have the other dinner for our main meal today.  The food was delicious and they sure had a big turnout with cars everywhere.  Fortunately, I was able to park very close to the line for the take out meals.

I did watch the golf yesterday afternoon and will do so again today.  It is a very tight match with a number of players in contention.  One of the players tee shot ended up on the bank of a water hazard.  When he got to the ball there was an alligator at the every edge of the water close to his ball.  Play was delayed until the caddy took a golf club and nudged to animal and it went under and out away from the bank.

I read this a little while ago and found it quite interesting so wanted to share it as it fits with the Easter season:

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.

Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes! In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day.

The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every  Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table until the master was finished...

Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers and his mouth and clean his beard, and would then wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.

The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days the wadded napkin meant,  "I'm finished..."
But if the master got up from the table and folded his napkin and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because....the folded napkin meant
"I'm coming back!"  AND  SO  HE  SHALL

Shirley, I hope you will be able to take a few days this next week and rest.  You had quite a week.  I haven't used my sprinkler system yet as none of the neighbors have either.  However, don't see any rain the forecast for the next several days so may need to water later this week.

Gloria, those ginger snaps sure sound good. You didn't say anything about it being your birthday.  Happy Birthday although I may be a day late.  Were the ginger snaps your daughter's BD gift to you?

Callie, you sure cooked up a storm but it sounds mighty tasty.

JaneS, your Helen's Pink Stuff sounds like something I would really like.  I like just plain flavored jello and usually have some if there is any on a buffet bar.

Jeanne, a beautiful graphic for this Easter morning.

Amy, glad you and your husband were able to enjoy a BBQ dinner with your son and DIL.

Lloyd, lilacs is something I so remember from growing up in Missouri.  Like Phyllis, we have no lilacs here in South Carolina.  We do have Wisteria however which is pretty but sure attracts bees.

Sandy

Good Morning ...
Happy Easter,  everyone!

What a beautiful day we are having here on the rocky coast of Maine..     Ah...  Spring has sprung!

Alleluia! The Lord is Risen!

Happy Easter Sunday dear hearts.

I am looking forward to a joyful Easter Service, and a nice Quiet day at home. My kids will be tired today..They participate in a Sunrise Service with other nearby Churches, and then they have their own lengthy service. So I do not expect any visit. I am content.

Have a beautiful day my dear friends. We are SO Blessed !!
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

Have a blessed Easrer.  We are going to my daughters for a poolside BBQ.  like Larry I didn't attend services this morning a bit under the weather.

Shirley

Wishing ALL a very Happy Easter.  For those that aren't up to going to church services, I do believe that God not only understands but we can sometimes hear HIM better when we pray alone.  HE listens and gives us a chance to think.

We have a mix of clouds & sun today, not too hot or too cold, not much wind (that is really welcome!), a beautiful spring day.  The trees have that "lime green" glow of new leaves unfolding, still some color on the redbuds & not sure if it's plumb or cherry or some kind of flowering crab apple, but a dash of pink & rose here & there.

Going to sneak a few zzzzzzzzzzs before anything else goes on.  Shhhhhhhhhh...........
:sealedlips: :sleepy:

June Drabek

Hal and Larry, I'm sorry you two are not feeling well on this Easter Sunday. I know you are both devoted Church members. However, God is with you where ever you are, and He is loving you. You are two fine men, and God loves you and is proud of what you are doing in your lives. Be Joyful !!!

We had the most interesting guest Speaker today. He is a Jewish Christian, raised in a very orthodox Jewish home, but has found that there is MORE for us as children of the God that created us. I was very impressed.

Time to go down for Sunday dinner....
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, a beautiful very warm day HAPPY EASTER TO ALL.

Gloria, I am sorry I am late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY :bestwishes:
My Florida room is reading 90. so I am not out there, just been on the deck.  I will have to have someone put all the screens in, then it will be cooler.

Callie, and Janealways take, that jello salad when I go to a covered dish.  Most of the time I use the banna/strawbeery jello. It is very filling because of the cottage cheese.

JeanneLee, thanks for the lovely graphic.

Gloria and Marilyn I stopped using margarine about 30 years ago. My doctor told me I was a walking stroke, because of my BP, she told me not to use salt, as I would get needed salt in my food.  Also to buy whipped butter, and keep it soft to use, that way you cold use a pat of real butter.

June, it was a beautiful day here, for the sunrise service at the Ocean, I use to always go to that one, when I lived in southampton.

Larry and Hall hope you start to feel better. I seem to be more tired since my last trip to the hospital.

My neighbors have ask me to dinner, I will wait and see how I feel.  If not Cathi, said she would bring it over.

Well, I went to church last night and this morning both so you are all covered.  I prayed for anyone who couldn't make it there.

Last night's service was beautiful!  It was attended by people from our entire convocation.  That includes 7 churches.  There were pertinent readings and the the blended choir from all those churches was glorious.

This morning was a bit more sedate but just as lovely with all the flowers and good friends in every pew.  Then I stayed for a simple breakfast and some visiting.

This afternoon, I went to my daughter's for Easter dinner and it was just the 3 of us.  We filled our plates and then went outside on the patio to eat.  And we talked about many things....including how good the ham was.  And I brought enough home for another dinner tomorrow.

Two granddaughter called and we had lovely chats...one from Texas and one from Florida.  And I talked to all my kids and had text messages from the rest of the grandkids.  What a lovely day!

I hope you all had a day that pleased you!

Gloria de, God has surely blessed you with a wonderful neighbor. It sure makes me happy to know that she is there for you

Janie Girl...Two Easter services..how nice for you, then dinner with two daughters. What a blessing that is.

I hope our Bis/Joan had a beautiful day where she is. I am so looking forward to seeing a post from her again.

Time for me to think about some supper. I can't stop yawning for some reason so it may be an early to bed for me...sun is still shining brightly now.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE, my dinner was with a daughter and Son-in-"Love" as Amy says.  He drove me home and on the way he confided that I'd raised a beautiful daughter, inside and out.  I thanked him but sometimes I think they are the wasy they are in spite of me and not because of me.  Like you, JUNE, I'm blessed with my family.

And now I'm going in and cuddle with the doggies and then to bed so I'll bid you all....

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Jane and June, you're not the only ones blessed with wonderful children!   had a phone call from #1 son on Wednesday night saying he would be coming for a short visit.  Great news, of course, but when I saw his camper pull in and opened the front door, there stood my #1 Grandson as well!  What a super time we had.

I can't let the discussion of great children go by without my mentioning my two nephews, both of whom help me so much.  Tom lives with me and takes me to my appointments, to lunch with retiree friends and such other things.  Tom does my grocery shopping (I pay for them).  He is not a handyman, but Terry is so if I need some help in that department, Terry is my man.  He recently installed a vertical grab bar in my bathroom beside the tub.

When we get into our later years, we are fortunate if we have family members who can help us do what we no longer can do.

Jane, Jeanne and Mary Ann, I am so happy to read your posts before I go to sleep tonight. How I wish all those I know would have the same thankful feelings about their children and nephews. God has truly Blessed us. Sleep well dear hearts and we will greet one another again tomorrow. Thanks be to God. Hugs, Love and Prayers.

Good morning everyone

Woke to the sound of the loon calling as he flew over the house, he was so low I could also hear the wind in its wings!!!

Larry and Hal ,I hope today finds you both feeling a lot better today.

I believe we are all blessed with  wonderful children and I think we are all the same,we don't want to be a burden on them either. We love them to pieces.

Not sure what is happening today, yesterday was quiet with only meals being prepared.....maybe chase dust bunnies and tidy up the bathrooms.

Better go get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day everyone..

I don't know what I'm doing this morning either.  In fact, I think it's a "no school" day which means that I won't be seeing Kiran today either.  She likes to hang out at the store and then scoot upstairs as soon as her Aunt Greta shows her face.  That is definitely a mutual love between the two of them!  And I'm of the opinion that Greta is good for Kiran.

I think I'll just take this day as it comes!  Whatever will be, will be!  Make today a good one Everyfriend!

And I agree with everyone!  We are blessed with our children.  Mary Ann you must be a very sepcial person for your Nephews to look after you the way they do.  And they must be very special people, too.

Hi everyone.  We have a sunny morning and should see 86 degrees before the day is over.  Yesterday was a very quiet day with my main activity being watching the golf tournament from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  For the first time ever a man born in South Carolina won that event.  We were able to have our second dinner from the Masonic Lodge BBQ event last evening.  I have no particular plans for today.  If I feel up to it at noon I will attend my Monday noon meeting.

June, Easter is a busy day for our ministers.  Our church had a sunrise service and then it's regular three services.  I always try to stay joyful.  It sounds like you had an interesting service with the Jewish Christian speaker.

Hal, hope the weather was pleasant for the poolside BBQ.

Shirley, it sounds like the trees are very pretty in your area now.  The trees here are all fully leafed and the flowering trees no longer show the flowers.

deAngel, many years ago, when we lived in Missouri, our house had a Florida room and it had louvered windows.  It had it own wall heater so could be used pretty much year round.  It had a door so it could be closed off from the rest of the house if it got too cold or too hot.

JaneS, your Saturday night blended church service and larger choir sounds so nice.  It sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday.  Nice you were able to talk to your kids and grand kids.  It sounds like it was a very special day.

Jeanne, what a nice surprise to see your son and your grandson.  Where do they live?

Mary Ann, your nephews are just reflecting back the love you have shared with them over the years.  I continue to be so happy that we moved when we did and can be where our son and granddaughter live.  He is very handy and willing to help.  It seems like every week when they are here there is a little choir of some kind that we ask him to do for us.

Lloyd, glad you could be with family on Easter.  Those are special times.

Amy, thanks for your good wishes on feeling better.  Hope those dust bunnies don't give you a hard time today.  :)

Still morning in Stanton, but edging up to noon. I did a load of clothes early today, but inspite of me occupying the tiny laundry room a lady from the first floor barged in and talked and talked and talked…she was telling me how SHE always came at this early hour to do HER laundry.  Sure had me asking God's forgiveness many times.
Next time we have a community meeting I am going to bring up the problem of not having a Laundry on the first floor.

Amy, We are a group here that are surely like-minded. Having lived in two Care facilities now, I have found not everyone is as fortunate as we are. Some of the elderly can be quite demanding, and blame their children for not doing more for them. That causes the children to avoid making visits.

Lloyd, I am happy you were well and could enjoy the visit of your Daughter and SIL. Are these the pair that will be living on the property ? You have made a good decision my friend, and I know it will be a relief to you having less to care for.

Janie, I am doing the same as you today…let things just happen now. I plan to go down for lunch but that's it. The laundry wore me out.

Larry, Me too. This move I made to be nearer my son and DIL was the wisest move ever.My health and energy are not going to get better as I age, and my kids are always ready to help me out. I hope the Jewish Christian comes back to speak to us frequently. I love to learn.

Chia, I used to know all the Capitals of all the States, but that memory has flown the coop. I will look in in spite of my lack of memory.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol

I tore apart the filters in our dishwasher and cleaned everything with vinegar - so, am hoping the next full load will be clean.  It hasn't been good to leave the dishwasher alone for so many winter months.  Pork chops are in the slow cooker and now to make a list of tomorrow's meal when Don's cousin and wife arrive - no doubt at least two of our sons will be over for a visit too.

Back to a more normal week now and we are feeling better and becoming more acclimated to both the heavy pollen and this altitude.  My walk was interrupted pleasantly by 3 neighbors coming out to chat.  There goes the book on my old iPod.

Callie:  I ordered a crock pot and would you believe it was delivered on Easter Sunday?  We were surprised - poor people never get a rest break.

Jane S.  It sounds like you had a nice Easter visiting with family - even via phone is wonderful!

Amy:  We are Loon Lovers!  Miss them so much - we may have to visit Minnesota this year because we miss the lakes and woods so much.  Oh, cousins too - of course.   ;)

Gloria:  I can add - You can repair a snowmobile in the living room while mom is gone - oops, she came back early.  Also, we had basketball marks on the ceiling.   Oh, the days of their youth - they still like to talk about all the high-jinks they played.

Hi June!
