Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Thanks Mary.  I went back in and found the way to change it.  Think I have been on the computer to long today.  Been so long since I changed anything anyplace that i have forgot a lot.

Have you tried doing a 'System Restore' to a point before the problem occurred?

JeanneP

Well I think I have really messed up my E-M systems.  Seems they can go out, or at least they are not saying that they couldn't but none or coming in. Usually have from friends and family on UK, France etc at least once a week. Had nothing..
I was messing changing my Passwords because of one problem on the Ipad.  I couldn't get into ITunes or my Apps Store. It seems to be O.K now . Will just wait until Monday. Crazy talking to Comcast, Apple or any of them on a weekend.  Will just try to start out and get all new accounts. Not have different Passwords and names for each one.

It all started out with that thing That Google did over a week ago. Trying to get me to go to something new they started. This Google Cloud or who ever it is has really messed me up. . Will give the E-Mailing a rest.  Even will write some snail mail for a change this weekend
JeanneP

JeanneP

OH! No.  This one now came on on my Xfinity (comcast). Did anyone else who has Comcast get it?  https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/#inbox/157147f0c1514034

Jeanne, why don't you go to Yahoo and set up an email account to use until your Comcast and gmail are straightened out.  My sister has Comcast and gmail and she has been having problems the last week or so.  At least you would have email access.

I have three email (yahoo, att and gmail) which I use for several things.

Jeanne....your link just opens my own email....not any message about Comcast.

JeanneP

Jane.  Now I do have 3 E-M Accounts also. Comcast. Gmail and Yahoo. Yahoo seems O.K other than I am trying to Take out of it. the "Shuttle Cloud Migration" Want to stop this thing of having E-M showing up in Each acct.  Just need them showing in the One account I am using to send them.
JeanneP

jane

I have yahoo, gmail, and my ISP email and I've never seen "Shuttle Cloud Migration."

I have my ISP email forwarded to my gmail account.  You must have something in your settings that emails are going to all three.  Have you somehow looped them to be forwarded to the other accounts or ???

JeanneP

Jane.  I think that this Shuttle Cloud Migration is something new that Google is doing now.  I should never have tried to Change my Gmail account getting new name and password. This is when the mess started just over a week ago.  I am playing again trying to just cancel out the new account I got.  Its not working right. Try and go back using the old one.   Having now a hard time finding how can just delete this new one and then maybe I will not be getting such a mess in Gmail .  It must be if you sign in as a new person they have a different system. Maybe doing something different now for the computers using W10. Thats not me as I am still sticking with W7.  The Gmail signup was so easy to follow and now so many different things in it. This darn Cloud seems to be taking over.

I am having a problem (not related to all the above), but on a game I have been playing for months, (had it saved in
my favorites for easy access) and now when I try to get in to it, it says "Unable to load "Plug In".  I don't know what plug-in they might be referring to, and I haven't changed anything on this computer other than to delete my history cache.  What might I do?

jackwv

Tomereader1, you should check the source of the Plug In or Add On.  Possibly it was deleted and you should be able to pick it up again.

Tomereader1

But how do I find "the source of the plug-in" if I don't know What it is, how would I find the source?  Duh!
Message just says Unable to Load Plug-In.

jackwv

How did you originally find the game.  Is it an app, or an online game.  Look the game up on google and see it there is a download, but be careful of the source.  What is the game?

Tomereader1

It's "Pyramid Solitaire - Egypt" and I got it off a game site, and its available practically anywhere.  It was a download.I can try to pull up the site, and see exactly where I got it. But where the game usually is, there's a big white area, and that's where it says Unable to Load Plug In.  I appreciate your help.

Tomereader1

Got it off "Solitaire Paradise" site.  And I managed to get it to work and put it in favorites.  We'll see how long it lasts without an error popping up.

I  have a question about clearing your history.

I got a new  computer several years ago and it has been working great.  However,  last week I ordered a sewing pattern and it was a pattern I had to download.  I was having problems getting it to download...........  Message kept coming up that it wasn't a valid something or other and I e-mailed the site where I had ordered the pattern from.  I got an e-mail back saying it sounded like my Adobe/Acrobat reader wasn't up to date.  So, I updated that program and I was able to get the pattern to load right away. Since then,  my computer has really gotten so much slower and keeps freezing up.  I did several complete scans and it did help a little bit.  A friend asked me if I had " cleared my history". Which I have never done before.  She said to go to "Tools"  then "Internet Options"  then, click on "browsing history" and then click "delete".  Since I have never done this before,  I am wondering if I will delete something that I really don't want deleted. This friend tells me that it is important to "clear the history" periodically. ?

Can somebody help me understand what happens when I would click on "delete"   Just what does that delete???

Thanks for some help in this matter.

Joy,

It's OK to do as your friend says. This file has a lot of old stuff that is taking up room probably unnecessarily. Any thing you delete/clear will be regenerated as you need it.

Joy I click delete and it brings up a long list of items   I just put an X in history and it clears my browsing history.

Rick what do you think about any of the other.  I do not clear cookies and Temp internet files.  Hit sites that I do not want to log in again.

Rammel, thanks for your information.

Jack, thanks for the added information.  When that page came up,  I didn't know what to check or uncheck.  Everything  already had a check on it.  I clicked them all off , but left the check on the history one.  Do you ever see evidence of what that does? A couple sites I went to, I had to re-log into it.

I was wondering about the first one..........something about preserving things. Wasn't sure what that meant.

Things do seem to be working better.

Thanks,

Joy

Joy if you ever checked to find a site you had visited, say yesterday, it would come up.  I have found it useful at times but generally clear mine every week or so.  For the other groups I prefer to leave them alone, but others may have a different view.

Now I am addressing Internet Explorer, Edge is different and do not use others.

Jack . I thought I would just clear History also.  That "Hit Delete" must be anotherW10.  Now how did you do it on W7.?

O.K. I remember now. Little different than yours now.  Also use Firefox. Years since MS Internet Explorer.  Never used any other for years.

Jack (and whoever else cares   :)  )

I use a payfer program called MilShield. It delets and/or removes all sorts of stuff I don't need or want on my puter.  It takes care of all those files (like Temp internet, history, MRU's, etc) on a couple of different browsers, programs.  All the items are selectable for cleaning.  I feel it saves me a lot of time and keeps "stuff" clean.  You can also designate items NOT to touch, thereby keeping passwords and/or cookies for those sites.

Rick I care :)  I read the review and what it did.  You are a pro, I think I will keep it simple  and not mess with another program.

Joy

Yes, Jack.  Someone explained that to me this evening.  When I go to a site, and then the next day or even the same day, that exact site will show up when I am looking at anther place.  I have ordered several pairs of shoes from different places, and sure enough, these places will pop up on different other sites.

I was wondering about how often you are supposed to clear the history.   No one has ever mentioned to me about doing that.

Thank for the suggestions.  My computer has definitely improved since I did that.  Still a couple other little glitches, but must faster than  it was before.

Joy, I seldom bother, and on occasion, I want to view something I may have looked at a day or so ago, and it is handy.   It only takes a few seconds to delete, so you can do so at shut down if you want.

angelface555

I generally use IOLO System Mechanic that has an antivirus, firewall and runs daily to rid my computer of junk, rootkits, malicious toolbars or other bad stuff.I use Hitman Pro that is a second opinion software and I have my Chrome set to delete history each time I close it. Each one of us has our way of doing things. But it's important to do it regularly.

JeanneP

I am still trying to get my GM accounts in order.  I use a desktop with w7, A Ipad and a Amazon Fire Reader.  All have a E-M account on them. Once I get this Gmail account working right I am going to quit using E-M on both the Amazon and the Ipad.  They all seem to want in on all the info you have on.  Apple wants my Comcast Info. Google wants my Apple info.
I think my problem is I try to put a different Password on each. When I do this and Change one then they all want passwords changing.
Anyway will decide on a better way of doing them.  Just have a E-M account listed on Comcast and my Google account as I like to use their GMail.
Comcast will be coming out with a new system soon. Think then will just stick with one on Theirs.  Think these FREE ones are trying to make to many changes.

Jeanne.....My gmail account has one password and I use it regardless of the device I'm on....laptop, Ipad, public computer.  The  gmail email has one password.

If you also have a comcast email that will have one password.....regardless of whether you're on your desktop or Ipad.  I've never seen an email program that allowed for different passwords on the same account.

If you have three different gmail accounts....different email addresses, then you could, of course have differnt passwords.....but, you'd use that same password to access that account, regardless of desktop, laptop, Ipad or Fire.
