Yarn, Needles and Crafts

Well, Bubble, that's an idea.  It's actually very average yarn so not so thin.  But a shawl would work.  I think there are two skeins.

Meanwhile, I'm doing yard work.  Blossoms are out.  Old leaves are there too.  So I still have my afghan to work on between outdoor activities.

With all my plumber problems, I have put all crafts aside.  My only relaxation right now is the games here. It is good for nerves!

Bubble, I have joined you with plumbing problems, two weeks ago, I needed a new kitchen faucet, as it was linking.  Now to day, I went to do a load of wash, and run out of hot water.  My water tank is only 7 years old.

sorry you have these problem.  I hope you have a better plumber than mine :)
After he changed and fixed the pipes under the floor tile, the toilet started leaking!

JeanneP

I also need a new faucet installed in the back bathroom.  I thought my kitchen sink had a problem also.  Was water leaking under the sink.  I got under and tightened  the pipe connectors and that seems to stop the leak.  I have to get water shut off outside and to cold for now. So will replace soon as warms up.
I have lost my handy man after 35 years. Hard getting people over here to do small jobs.

Is there a gardening forum? I need to ask how to get rid of grub worms from yard?  CC

Amy

Hello everyone...
I too like to quilt along with x stitch and crochet....but I must admit the later two have taken a back seat to quilting lately.
Tuckyquilter your quilt is beautiful!!!
I hope to post two of my photos but we shall see  if I can.

Amy, superb!  How do you do that?  Are the figures printed ones? I am stunned!

I hope you all know that clicking on those pictures makes them bigger.

phyllis

Amy, your quilts are beautiful!  I especially love the Fairy Quilt with such beautiful colors and the strip framing of the centerpiece is perfect.  I know you design your quilts to fit the person you are making them for and I think that they must be treasured gifts from you.

Amy

Bubble, thank you so much. Both of these quilts have panels in them....and then I work from that . A panel is  22x 40 as an example and then you build out from that.

Phyliss, thank you. The fairy quilt is one of my favorites. I hope they like them as much as I enjoy making the quilts for them.

The one beside the hockey quilt was done with blocks of African animals and I did have fun doing this one too!!

Amy.  WOW!  Such nice work.  I like the first one, looks 3-dementional.  Having a theme makes it fun to choose the cloth.  Nice idea.

Maryz, I've also been to the quilt museum in Paducah twice.  Both times were on road trips--one time we spent the night in Paducah and went on to Illinois to visit Bill, Dawn, and Andy.  The other time we were on our way to West Virginia.  The quilts are simply beautiful.  We have an active quilting club here in Auburn.  They display new ones every month at our public library.  I have a couple of really old ones that Bob's mother and grandmother made years ago that I've always used on beds, not for display and they are wearing out.  I'll miss them when I have to quit using them.  And both Kris and Dawn quilt, but they do machine quilting.  I have several small pieces from both of them.

I found this tutorial & thought it might be of interest to crocheters . I dislike the hole that is left when starting a new row of of double crochet & this tutorial fixes that

I do almost the same: a  SC stitch like she did in the same first start, then one chain and I go on.  It works as well.

Amy, I think this is the first time of seeing your work, I am quite surprised at how much work has gone into them, they are lovely......do you exhibit them at indoor-outdoor craft fairs?...

Amy

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I love to quilt ,seeing a pieces of fabric turn into a quilt is so much fun.

Jackie, thank you, these were gifts that I did for Christmas. There are markets that one could sell their quilts and a friend of mine does that ..

I guess no one knits anymore.  I haven't picked up the needles for a long time but my son is making noises about needing some new knit sox so I may get some yarn and see if I remember how to do it after all this time.

Phyllis, I will start knitting again in Sept. I also am going teach a class in Homemakers, when it starts again.  We will be making the fingerless gloves. Right now , I am going through a BIG stack of  medicare and ins. papers, that I am sure i do not need to save.

I just started this afghan for Project Linus yesterday . A classmate in a crochet class I'm taking used 60% off coupons at Joannes to buy a huge amount of yarn which she gave to the lady I sit next to . She gave me 2 one pound skeins for baby afghans .
