Good noontime, Buddies!

All quiet here. I don't feel isolated here, because I see staff and residents all through the day. We don't gather for any activities, but most do walk in the halls occasionally. Meals are brought to our rooms. I talk to Margaret almost every day, so I'm kept up on family stuff. Plus there's the internet and cable TV. Let's all stay well!

Happy weekend!

Well a big number birthday hits me tomorrow. Will have to spoil myself. Be one to remember. I never count them and so will forget this number and do it next year.

It's not that warm out but sunny. Take a walk later .will say,the fed express must still be going as I have a notice that 2 shipments will be here Monday and were just ordered Friday. Will be spraying them outside. We are getting to be fanatics aren't we?

Afternoon, Buddies.  Gloomy day with bit of breeze, but rain/snow to come and cold front.

My joints are really hurting, even after the max of Tylenol.

Take care and stay healthy!

Happy Birthday JeanneP  !!   We share the same birth date !!  This will certainly be a different birthday !!!  We had planned a trip to Las Vegas but that has been put on hold . My father's first wife died in the 1918 flu epidemic &  he & my Mom married about 10 years later & then I came along 10 years later & here we are in another epidemic

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up, showered and dressed because my son who lives in Opelika (a town near me) will be coming to pick me up for our family dinner.  He's probably doing the cooking so his wife may be the one to pick me up.

It's cool here this morning, but will get warmer as the day gets longer.  I am wearing a long sleeved sweater over my shirt and think this will be enough for comfort.  I can always take the sweater off if it gets much warmer.

I hope Every Buddy has a Happy Easter.  Take care and enjoy your family today.

The "kids" did Zoom with 6 of us...across 3 states this morning. It was so easy and I could see myself as well as the 5 others.  It was neat.  Everybody can hear and see everybody else.  They're all north of me in MN and WI and were having a lot of snow.

I also called my sister and we had a nice chat, and now I'm going to do some computer stuff and then read as we await a real mix of weather....heavy winds, rain, snow, cold through about Tuesday and then some more.

TIP: from Niece who's a nurse:  if your glasses fog up wearing a mask, wipe them with shaving cream.  She says that's what they all do at the hospital.  HUH...who knew??? :2funny:

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

I get alerts from the Washington Post...and maybe some of you don't trust the newspapers, but I do.  This is SCARY about what this virus does to your lungs.

The storm inside: How the coronavirus killed Keith Redding
A CT scan performed just a few hours after Keith Redding showed up at the emergency room showed dead cells and viral particles scattered across his lungs like bits of broken glass.

yEs this is a different virus, Spreading faster than any other. Take longer to come  up with shot,  but they will.

It good that we have all this tech stuff now, for Lots able to see family on it. I just found it and really spending time.

Jane, we had that big storm 2 nights ago. It past bye us yesterday
I cant afford to lose manny more tree limbs.

Sue. Did you stay 6 ft. Away eating?  Kidding. My daughter had another couple to dinner but they have been with them only for most af the last few weeks.

I was craving choc. And a friend brought some over and pushed  it in on my porch. I made broc. Cream soup last night and passed it and some braised chicken to her. She doesn't cook.  It's all so crazy but keeping us laughing.

I'm of to bed

Good morning, Every Buddy.  Yesterday Tim came over to pick me up and take me to his house where he was making lunch for him, Kris, Arden, and me.  We had a nice visit and I enjoyed the lunch.  He's called me this morning to tell me that he has called my cleaning service and asked them to put it on hold for a while.  The last ones who came to clean were unknown to me and they didn't do a very good job.  We decided that I can keep things tidy and hopefully I'll get my regular Molly Maid back sometime soon.

Not much else going on here today.  I will try to finish the book I'm reading about the WWII women who worked in Washington and other areas to keep America up and running.  Bill (oldest son) had sent me the book about the women who kept the home fires burning as well as keeping the war up to date.

Not much else to report today.  I am planning to find a bandanna to put over my mouth and nose when I go outside to walk.  However, I rarely see anyone else walking.  Most of the young folks in my neighborhood have jobs and are not at home during the day.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

The snow storm missed us, too, but it's down to low 30s and very windy.  I'm glad I'm not driving a big RV or truck.

Jeanne....ah...Easter chocolate for your birthday!

Sue...my cleaning lady isn't coming either.  She has so many clients, I'm glad.

Hi to all our Buddies!

I need to get to WalMart for a few groceries, bird feed and a prescription.  I'm trying to decide what's the best time to go..maybe this afternoon.  With everyone off work, the "slow" times have all changed, I guess.  I do want to make sure they've had time to restock the shelves.  I will wear a mask there.  We've had another case here in the County, so I suppose that will now start to ramp up.

Supposedly, our gov checks are suppose to roll out now.  I don't know anyone who's gotten theirs yet.  I talked to Ray's sister yesterday and she said her daughter with cancer has been laid off.  She sells metals to factories.

Stay safe and healthy!

Sharon just emailed me that she can't get in. So, there may be a glitch in her part of the country after the storms, or a lot of internet traffic this morning.  I sent her a link to today's postings, and I hope that'll get her in.

I am going to call a couple of grocery stores close to me and see if they have a early morning for seniors. Bet stores busy  again now as a month  since the big rush was on and now  people 'they will all be back into  storing up.
I did order some Fem. things on line Thursday and EM says will be here today. So don't need Walmart.
Now Schnucks closed yesterday and I bet they did a good cleaning. They are always so clean anyway and have the best Fresh Veg. This is what I mostly need.

Jane. Now I am not Figuring out this Check that people say they are waiting for.I am doubting that we Retired Seniors come under it. We get good SS check monthly which I hope went into my Ck. Acct. on April 3rd. so we get the income that we always get.  I figured that payout is more for workers laid of and their companies not paying them anything and so they will sigh up for Unemployment But retired people will be getting their usual..
Guess I have not really read up all about it. I just can't figure out that People who earned over $100,000 Will be getting paid. Just the low income.
None are going to be kicked out of apartment or Electric turned off. The Gov. will see to that. What would those Landlords do for Renting out again. I know in this town there are over 35% apartment sitting empty and its a University area. Now looks like Univ. not opening so they will be moving out. Doubt they will be stuck to their leases. Most would be gone in June for 3 months anyway. And lots of our Apartments are Subsidized so that is Gov. paying 75% of those Even a lot of homes same. They have already put a additional 50% more onto Snap cards and many seem to use them in the Grocery Stores. So there is about
430 dollars for a family of 4. They should be able to manage on that. Many more will now be getting the Snap cards.
If the Gov. gives to much now then down the line Everyone working will be paying much higher Tax. every thing will go up. Our State have put the car sticker up 30% this year already. Country can only keep printing so much money. Fed has got to have the assets to cover what they print.

But these days I am finding that I know very little about how the US gov. works anymore.  It seems like other countries are handling things better. Seems to be a lot of cheating going on here now. I use to believe that Nothing is for Free. Sooner are later you will pay for it. But now I don't know.
My Eldest spent 25 years in Social Work , 10 years director. and now retired. I saw quite a lot through that...

We had a lot of lightning, thunder, and rain yesterday and last night. But Chattanooga really got hit - straight line winds and at least one tornado. Last I heard there had been at least 8 killed and at least 120 in hospitals.  Many homes without power. Really scary! It wasn't in the part of town where I had lived.  It's much cooler here this week, which is nice.

We're still having meals served in our rooms. We're able to get out and walk the halls, or even go outside in a courtyard or on the front porch - just not to be in groups. I don't know when this type of "confinement" will be over.

Stay well, Buddies!

Mary...the South really got hammered.  I hope Sue is OK. The damage I saw on TV was horrendous...and so many deaths.

Jeanne...my understanding is that the $1200 checks go to people making under $75,000 a year based on their last income tax that's filed.  Those up to $99,000 will get smaller checks.  Children under 17 get $500.00

This is MY understanding.  More info and a calculator here:  https://www.kiplinger.com/article/spending/T063-C000-S001-stimulus-checks-2020-how-much-when-and-other-faqs.html

It's a bright sunny day but in the high 20s and breezy, so wind chill was down to about 16 degrees.

Nothing exciting here...going to do a little housekeeping and read.

Take care and stay SAFE and HEALTHY!!

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up, dressed, read the paper and had a nice phone call from one of the coaches at AU.  My name was on his list because I always bought season tickets for the women's basket ball games.  He was checking to see if I need anything (which I don't but I appreciated the phone call).

Not much else going on here today.  Tim has called but is not coming over and he canceled my Molly Maids cleaning service as he thinks they are not being careful about sending cleaners.  My regular lady has been staying at home.  So I'll just keep everything tidy and hope for the best.

It's bright and sunny here today and as soon as I clean up the kitchen, I'll go out for my morning walk.  I'm going to wear a bandanna over my nose and mouth--however I doubt that I will see anyone else out walking!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  I hope the Corona Virus is not near you!

Sue...glad you had no damage from the storms that hit Mississippi and TN.  I think you and Tim are probably wise to put the MollyMaids on hold.  They go into and out of so many houses, you don't want to take a chance. My own cleaning lady is self employed, but she has a lot of clients here and in neighboring towns, and she said she wasn't coming. She doesn't want to infect any of us ...or herself, of course...and I think she's minding her grandbabies while their parents are working.
I'm not too messy and the kitchen floor will have to survive with just a swiffering.  Nobody's coming in to see any dust anyway.
  8)

Marilyn...sorry you lost your post.

Sharon...I hope you can get in with the link I sent.  If not, it may be a local glitch in your area or something else weird.

It's finally sunny here, but still just 29 degrees. We're to warm up by Friday and the weekend.  I sure hope so.  I may wait until later this afternoon and then bundle up and walk.

Hi to Jeanne, Darlene, Mary, Alpiner.

Marilyn

I had a long newsy post yesterday. It all seems irrelevant today though.

Not much going on here, I am still taking Freckles for 3-4 daily walk getting in a total of about 4-5 miles. After our grocery deliver Saturday I realized I had forgotten a few things, I had to go to Safeway anyway to get Keith's  meds so bought the rest of it there.

I got an Instapot cook book and yesterday I made some awesome Lentil soup in my Instapot. I left out all the bacon and ham. Too much fat content in those meats, so it is vegetarian but so good.

I took Freckles to the Vet Monday for her yearly exam and the 2 yearly  vaccinations. She weighed in at 35 lbs, perfect weigh for her.

Keith had another accident in his clothing and left a trail on the carpet from the hall door to the bathroom. OMG I am tired of this job and need a vacation just me and Freckles. I want to retire and enjoy the rest of my life. I don't feel like a wife, I feel like I am the full time caregiver, which I am, I can't just go home at the end of the day.

Well this is just about the entire gist of yesterday's post. Well one more thing. I had a difficult time on Easter, when another wave of grief washed over me. I was so emotional that every little thing made me cry.

Maybe it is time for you now to call and get together with Keiths family. Let them know what things are like for you. Not trying to handle it yourself.
I have watched a couple of friends go through this and it did not get better. Now their health is really bad.
for all they did for their fathers the were not appreciated. Had a bigger fight about Estate when it ended.

Marilyn, glad you're getting in your  "time out" at least for your walks with Freckles.  I know it's a hard thing to think about, but are you thinking about finding a facility for Keith? Is that what you plan to talk about with his kids? My friend in Chattanooga finally had to move her husband - a terribly hard decision to make. Lots of hugs from all of us.

Jeanne I know it wont get any better just get worse. However his boys all live in Washington state and the oldest wanted to put him in a locked memory care facility back in Dec. 2018. I said NO unequivocally. He wasn't ready at that time and I don't believe his is ready now either. I would like to have a caregiver at least 4 hours per day but we can't afford to pay someone $255 per week. He doesn't qualify for help from Medicaid or the state.

That's terrible that the estate isn't taking care of them was there no will? Keith doesn't have a will either and my  name is not on the house. His boys say they don't want anything but who knows how that would change when Keith passes away. I want to downsize all his different collections that clutter the house but he doesn't want to get rid of or sell anything. He thinks it is all worth a lot of Money. but I know it  isn't. If it were up to me it would all be donated to some thrift store. I am not one for garage sales I just want to get rid of unneeded  stuff.

Marilyn

#8635
Mary we can't afford a facility at, $9000 per month. I would have to sell the house. The only way the state would  take over is if we were divorced. Even then they go back 5 years of your banking records. Ya can't win. So no  not going to talk about putting him away just yet.

JeanneP

Marilyn
Now isn't he on Medicare? You also. Isn't there a county nursing home close to you. I know that they take hi SS check. But can't touch your house. May want some of the assets sold. But not your car. Now look into this nursing home and see if they have a day center .there are two families in my street .they have the men in that. Bus pup at 9am and brings home at 3 pm. That a big help.again takes part of his SS . I have a friend works there and it's run well.

JeanneP

jane

Marilyn...I'm sorry for all your frustrations.

It's a cold, sunny day here and snow is to go south of me...so will probably land right on Jeanne!

The landscapers were here yesterday afternoon and came back this morning to finish up the weeding and cleanup and putting down fresh mulch.  Everything looks so nice and tidy now.

In addition, the "pole men" are here...I have no idea which utility they're working on, but I looked out yesterday and 4 guys in reflective vests were in my side yard and there was a long ladder up against the house...they were fussing with some line and moving it to another pole rather than over the neighbor's driveway to a pole by the street.  They're moving a lot of poles much further back from the street and they're much taller ahead of the miling and repaving of the street.

Road construction and detours all around town. They're using this slow time and big trucks being routed out and around town to get these big corners finished up...something with water mains.

I'm hoping it warms up this afternoon so I can get a walk in...we'll see.

I went to WalMart about supper time for a prescription and a few groceries and was amazed at the number of people there without face masks.  Incredible.

Another late good morning from here in Auburn, Alabama. I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but that's it so far.  I want to get outside for a walk, but haven't done that yet.  I'm hoping to get outside for the walk, but don't want to walk where others are walking.  Yesterday while walking I ran into a little girl walking their family dog.  They live about 3 doors away from me on the other side of the street.

Not much else going on here today.  Tim and Kris came by yesterday to see if I needed anything from Kroger, but I really had enough to last through next week.  I have lots of frozen food in the freezer and can use that first.

I hope Every Buddy is well.  There is a lot of the Corona Virus here in Lee County, but I am staying inside except for the walks (and hoping I won't have to see anyone else!).  Our local hospital has several gowned nurses outside who check temperatures and other procedures as the hospital is full of those with the virus.

Stay well, Every Buddy, and try to avoid anyone who might have symptoms!

I think Jane that it seems that the older ones in the store at 6 to 7 am seem to all wear mask but go in later and not many do.

I have enough food in now that I could last 3 months. Only thing I am out of is body cream and dish soap.

I went Tuesday and spent another 104 dollars stocking up.Even milk I have enough for ages. Then have canned that I can delete with water.
I have got to stop fixing full dinners.Seem to enjoy food even more that usual
Daughter came into town bringing almost a ham of 5 lbs. She had friends in Eastere but sure did not eat much off it. She doesn't cook so as she needed to pick something up from me she brought it to me. So now I cut into slices.chopped some for Casseroles. some for cabbage dish. and then fixed bone for Beans and ham. Made   about 5 freezer bags of each. I took lots of ham and beans down street to friend. Again she hates cooking. I will give some of the other dishes away. Have lots of Ground Chuck. Chicken and frozen plus fresh Veg. I am keeping busy Cooking and you know how I love that.
Wish I could set to and  do a lot of cleaning around the place but just can't get into it. Most are big jobs that need doing like carpets, drapes and outdoor work.

Your little town seem like they do a good job on Maintenance . I see the concrete trucks passing and so something must be getting done.
My one  grandson in Texas got laid of from the Oil Company 5 weeks ago and  the check that gov are sending out was in his bank yesterday. So that must be happening. They say that people that were on unemployment already will be the first to get. His wife is a nurse and working a lot of hours.
I have to get walking today. Not warm out but the sun is out.Weather man says we could get about 3 inch. snow this weekend.  I think he is reading his chart wrong. I hope so.
I feel like I could just drive for miles. I don't think I have used a gal. of gas in my car for over a month.
