Hello Everyfriend!  And a special "Welcome Back, Gloria".  It's good to "see" you again!

We had snow today!  It snowed everywhere except on the roads.  Now I know as well as anyone that the main roads are salted anytime anything slippery comes out of the sky but they do NOT salt people's driveways.  And before you say that the salt from the roads slips into the driveways, a lot of the driveways out in the country where I live are gravel and I'm sure the salt doesn't ooze over into them.  It just looked really odd out there!

I went to lunch with some of my previous co-workers.  There were supposed to be 12 of us but with various reasons (including the snow) 8 of them cancelled.  The four of us that went really enjoyed it!

Tomorrow Frankie and I both have a chiropractor's appt.  She's the driver and I'm buying the gas.  It's about a 40 minute drive from here and the skies are supposed to be clear.  We're both ready for this appt!

Now I'm heading for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

They're saying that we got 2- 4 inches of snow.  I think we got about 3 inches!

Happy to see you back, Gloria. I'm off to bed so wishing everyone a good night of sound and peaceful sleep. God Bless.   :smitten:

Good morning..

Overcast and a temp of 7° this morning. Have you noticed it is getting lighter earlier now in the mornings?

Picking up a few groceries this morning then home
,need to bake bread and that is it. Sewing may take in the rest of the day.

Patricia, are you hibernating? :)

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Gloria

Good Morning everyone. We did not get much snow yesterday but when I pulled the first shade up Wow I just wished I could push the window and the screen up to take pictures. The trees and shrubs are all covered in white and I wish I could get downstairs and out on the porch but pictures would be better from up here. Looks like a Christmas card.

JANE  feels great to be back with our "family" here.  Today was the first time I got in easy.  Yesterday I remembered a tip I read years ago about dragging what I want for a start page-home page from the browser to the desktop. This morning when I started I saw the SS (icon?) on the  screen and clicked on it and brought me right here to Jane's post. Glad at least 4 of you got together for your lunch. My grandson has at least one more trip here to get this Dell right.  One thing he will do is print a copy of all my PW's. Have the list on the PC but does no good when you need the right word and cannot remember it or know it and it is refused. He remembers them more than I do.

RICK  you were so right when you said 11 is for gaming and movies. I am not into gaming and why should I pay for a movie when I can get some on YouTube for nothing? My grandson has managed to get rid of most of 11 and keep the 10. I have another grandson who would love that gaming. He and some of his friends are into that big time and will be up most of the night playing online.

SHIRLEY  I feel like I am alive again being back here with all of you. I have not gone back to read what I missed. I hope I don't miss something very important by not checking everything.

AMY  goodness where have you been? I noticed back in January the mornings were getting light earlier. Of course the white shades let light in easier than the dark shades. If I left the shades up it would be like day light with all the lamps lit in the parking lot and on the front of the building.

Still have email to go through. Might catch up on everything one of these days. Sun is shining now and the sky a beautiful blue. With the white trees against the blue sky it is something I wish I could capture. The branches on the pines are bent down with the weigh of the snow/ice and even the bare trees are all white.
Have a good day, stay safe Everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The snow is finished here!  There's lots of it but not on the roads as I said yesterday.  The air out there is solid white and the weather report calls it "frozen fog".  It's supposed to clear by noon and the temps will be up in the high 30s so maybe they'll be right this time.  I hope so because Frankie and I have to leave for our appointment by noon.

I have some stuff to do around here before I get ready to go!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

phyllis MY self also.I am just up and in here My self @ 8;40 AM. good to see all you girls. well old mother hubbard is shakeing her feather bed hard, the gras is all but coverd, very few sprigs of gras showing throu the beautful white.  Nancy said the weather guesser said we wre to get at least 6". if it keeps up like it is now we shurley will get at least that much. and we will have enough clean snow to make some good snow cream. we do not have any heave 1/2 1/2 or heavy cream in the house so will have to subtuaet some coffey creamer, but that should be ok. Have a good day everyone.

Lloyd

Shirley

I'm like you, Phyllis, can't get all of me awake this morning. I sat down at the computer after feeding the cats & half asleep. Got more sleep than usual & even deep sleep, but I think mine is attitude. I'm sad about giving up the motorhome even though I didn't get to do much with it the last 2 years, I could have if I'd wanted to!  Silly me. The world is in chaos, so many people suffering and I'm whining.

Gloria, so good to see you in this morning after such a battle with a computer. Wish we could tag along with Jane & Frankie for a back rub, don't you?

Need to make a grocery run, short on bread & I don't bake it anymore. Sure sounds good, hot bread & a chunk of butter melting into is. YUM! Amy, have plate, will travel!

Few snow flakes floated by but that's about it until later tonight. Most of the heavy snow is north part of KS but I can hope, right? We do need moisture.

Hope everyone has a great day. We can see people smile again with masks off. Almost feel undressed, don't y'all?

Enjoy the snow/cream, Lloyd. It has been 80 years since I had that! Probably last time was before WWII, cream & sugar was scarce those years.

Good morning from the Interior, It's 18 degrees so far, heading into the upper twenties. Yesterday and today, the skies have stayed white, and it's snowing, sleeting, whatever, but it's sticking.

There is nothing new here, but general housework and computer maintenance, re-aligning some folders and deleting others.

My life is fascinating these days...

Amy, I sometimes wish I could hibernate and pick things up again in mid-May. I sent you an email with a couple of quilt patterns I found in one of my craft groups. I don't know if you would be interested or not? Some in the group are rabid quilters and also some serious embroidery.

Good morning, Gloria! As Jane said, it's so nice to have you back again!

I agree, Amy; I first noticed when it was still light out after five in the afternoon.

Phyllis, I wasn't functioning yesterday; I got up at three fifteen after realizing all the snow equipment wasn't going to let me sleep. It was a very, very, long day that I spent doing many monotonous chores. I did sleep well last night and feel rested again. The more good news is that those of my friends who recently contracted Covid seem to be having more straightforward cases.

Good morning, Lloyd! I remember snow cream! I haven't thought of that in many years, but it was fun to make and good to eat!

Shirley, some people aren't masking, but I will continue to do so for some time! The last week's end saw 218 new cases!

Amy

Some days don't go as planned but this one hasn't been too bad.

Shirley, I made cheese bread this time. and one loaf is in the hidey hole. I make three loaves at a time, one to have, one to freeze (maybe) and one or two to give away.

They are calling for more snow here.bless their belly buttons! On the good side we are almost half way through March!

Patricia, Kyle will also be wearing his mask in crowds  ,he has had 4 shots but better to be safe than sorry.

Better see what's for supper tonight. :)

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm on my way to another haystack!  Since Frankie and I got home from the Kinesiologist, I haven't been worth a "Tinker's Dam"!  When I first started to go to Debra she told us to go home and lie down for a hour or so.  I haven't done that for a long time but today, I had my supper and went in to turn on the TV.  I never made it to the TV.  The sofa beckoned and I answered....for 4 hours!  And now I'm going to jump in the haystack.

My granddaughter, Courtney is coming up from Philadelphia some time tomorrow and it will be a busy day.  Cooper will arrive at about 6:30.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Amy, I still wear my mask in crowds but the last couple times I've been to Sam's & even to church.... the spacing has been very good. At church they have one area where the pews are blocked every other one so nobody really breathing down your neck. I had my mask handy if too many people showed up. Allergy season has hit with full force so pretty hard to keep up with a drippy nose behind a mask.  :-[

Patricia, we had almost the same weather warning but ours kind of fizzled out. Some parts of Kansas really got dumped on & had plenty of wrecks with it.

Light snow right now but should end in another hour. Every little bit helps & we have had fires all around so we welcome any moisture.

Lloyd, sounds like you had a fun evening with the snow cream & made memories with the great grandson. Family is what counts, isn't it?

Another week end, time is flying. I'm off to bed so sweet dreams and God Bless ALL.

Amy

Good morning..

It came in the night and even though it is very fine it is persistent in falling and gracing the ground. Not enough to start the music but enough to :tickedoff: a person off!

Work about the home today..will check to see if the dog next door needs his nails done ,if so will do that also.

Shirley as of the 21st mask wearing has been lifted but the Drs are still advocating those to wear one in crowds .We would dearly love to forgo the mask but with Kyles compromised immune system we will still wear ours. I do think it all just comes down to common sense. The masks sure have been great to wear in the bitter cold.

Lloyd, that ice cream sounds tasty!

Jane, hope you can coast today..

Patricia, the snow came this way. :(

Gloria, when do you get Yvette back?

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper has arrived and has had his breakfast.  He's now waiting for it to take effect so he can bug me to take a walk!

AMY, no relaxing today!  I'm getting ready for company!  My granddaughter, Courtney will be arriving from the Philadelphia area sometime today and my daughter Christy (Frankie's Mom) will be arriving either tonight or early tomorrow!  Gonna be a busy weekend.  They will all be spending the nights here.

I'm thinking of meal planning and working around whatever they decide to do with their time.  And I better get on my horse and get moving!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

P.S. we have "pea soup fog" out there right now!

Good morning everyone. 6:45am. and 28°. That beauty I saw from my windows yesterday morning did not last long. When the sun woke up it was warm enough to melt all of it by noon. Glad I woke early enough to see it.
The one who sends the CNAs out still does not know what she is doing. I am supposed to have 13 hours a week and some weeks am lucky to get even half of it. I had one here yesterday for 4 hours after the lady I had Wednesday left everything "spic and span" and gave me a good back massage. Some days she would send one for an hour and a half.

PHYLLIS  Good seeing you this morning. You sound like me this morning. If it wasn't for Mother Nature calling me when I wake in the mornings it would take an hour for me to get out of bed. Long gone are the days I got out of bed as soon as I woke. Think I am lazy? No, blame it on the age.

LLOYD  good morning to you. After years living in the country with all the clean snow in the winter I never had snow cream but did have some with maple syrup poured over the snow.

SHIRLEY  From the looks of your post #127 did you sell your camper? The CNA I had yesterday gave me a good back rub. She was almost as good as Yvette at it. I went downstairs with Fran to help fold the clothes out of the drier. First day I was out of my apartment in 2 months. I forgot to put my mask on and when I took one out of the pouch on my rollator She said I did not need it anymore. She pointed out the notice on the bulliten board saying no longer needed but wearing one would be appreciated. I don't remember things scarce during WW2 but sure remember the rationing during those years.

PATRICIA  Aren't you the one who used to talk about ice fog when you used to walk to work and did a lot of walking and picture taking.
It is great to be back here again.  Odd we have never met except here and yet how when one is missing we worry till we know the missing one is OK. This time I was AWOL and I missed everyone here. At least I had a book to read so I was not having a conversation with  myself.

AMY  when I made bread it was plain white bread. When I was young I remember waking in the morning to the aroma of bread in the oven. My Mom baked it often. I enjoyed making it. I get a kick out of the ones who brag about baking bread in their bread machines. I tell them they are cheating and missing the chance to get rid of frustrations when kneading the dough. For years our last snow of the season was March 17 and we all know what that day is. Everyone got their corned beef  and cabbage ready?

JANE  I am so used to getting a log nap either in the morning or the afternoon depending on the time  CNA gets here but with the crazy hours that woman has been sending the CNAs I have not had even a lay down to rest my back so today when I finish here I will lay on the couch with the TV just low enough to hear it and stay there most of the day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, 13 degrees with clear, blue skies. The weather report says a cold wave is arriving tonight and tomorrow with minus fifteen temperatures. One look at that clear blue sky this morning, and I could have told them that.

Amy, we had that fine ice and snow from Tuesday night through early this morning. The skies were a solid white, and the snowplows went at it until very early this morning!

Gloria, when it gets minus forty and below, you have to plug in your engine block to keep it warm and working. Tourists are always wondering about those plugs coming from the car's front. Businesses have plugins for vehicles at all parking spaces, and it's a part of doing business in the Interior.

Your tires may freeze until they start rolling again; after remaining in one position. Locally, it's called square tires. The car exhaust, smoke from houses and businesses, and aerial industrial pollution freeze and become solid, called ice fog. Everything is better once summer comes back each year, short and sweet.

Good afternoon well I have had a easey day watchingthe TV. too cold in the garage to do walnuts. a later day will be fine. well I am going to post the snow cream recipie here below

I don't think I ever knew exactly how to make the snow/cream, Lloyd, but was trying to think of how we kept the snow from melting while we mixed. Our snow is completely melted off today BUT it was bitter cold. I had to go to the street to bring the dumpster back to the house after trash men came.... had me all wrapped up but I was cold for quite a while after I got in, chilled to the bone.  I went back out later to plug the motorhome into garage power to charge up the batteries.

Gloria, I do have a "For Sale" sign in the back window of the motorhome. I talked to the city person in charge of violations & she explained someone in the neighborhood had complained about the POD being in the driveway across the street so when she was checking it out she also wrote up a warning for me, have to call back the 17th of March to get a 30 day extention so I can sell it or store it. But today the same lady said she checked out & there is an excuse to that law, that from 1 April to 1 Oct the motorhomes, RVs, etc can be in the driveway because people need to load & unload or work on them, SO I do have the summer to think about getting rid of it. I know it's time, I have enought trouble breathing it isn't much fun going camping when it's all I can do to level & plug it in to the power post at a camp ground. When sons are camped next to me I love cooking for them, but they love the mountains in CO and not too interested in trips to MO. Anyway, I am now at peace with what I need do. My hopes of seeing the USA in my RV has come & gone, but that's life & I am grateful for having these 8 years of enjoying doing what I wanted. I have had a good life so no regrets.

Jane, hope all the kids got to your house & "nobody can get a word in edgewise".... such fun, but know you'll be tired when it slows down. Take care of you, I know they will all be jumping to help. Love the chance to cyber visit with your family even tho we've never met. :smitten:

I'm going to have a snack & get ready for bed. Sweet dreams & God Bless. Love y'all....

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I didn't even have a chance to get on line to say "Good Night" last night.  Good visit with the kids!

It's snowing here so they all got here just in time!  We'll have a good visit today because they're not going to be running around too much!

May meet up with friends this morning...will see .

Laundry to do and I had better get some baking done..

Jane, have fun with your family.

Patricia, we have plug in for our vehicle here but don't use it as it is in a heated garage. Yes, I have drove a vehicle with frozen tires or square tires or Flintstone tires, once they warm up it is smooth sailing.

Better get going..

Raining pretty hard now. Earlier on weather the guesser said rain/snow and mix. I know my back is not happy.

This is going to be short. I do need that nap and will get groceries put away when I wake up

Good morning from an Interior with bright, blue skies, which means it's cold with no clouds to hold in the heat. Today and the next four days will be the same, with the evening lows the same as the daily highs except in minuses. For example, today will be plus eighteen with tonight, minus eighteen. Last week we were in the thirties, then back into the freezer.

Jane, have a wonderful visit with your family. I sometimes wish mine didn't live so far away.

Amy, as south as you are, I wouldn't have expected you to have the same cold weather conditions. I'll have to start using Flintstone tires around here. Maybe it will catch on. We don't commonly have garages in the city proper, although they're on the outskirts and suburbs. Some have canopies to protect from snow.

The city's center has a historical district where homes were built in 1903 when the city was first incorporated, through the nineteen forties and fifties. The first ringing suburbs and strip malls range from the sixties and seventies through the eighties, and the outer "bark" dates from the nineties and into this century.

However, urban renewal has been going on since 2015, first with sidewalks and roads and then with buildings on the outer rim. It's inching closer and closer to the center each year. My neighborhood is in the late fifties.

Part of Creamer's Field Migratory Bird Refuge is inside city limits because Don Creamer, the man who started it all, had a dairy in the area that he willed to the city for a perpetual bird sanctuary. It consists of forests, fields, and wetland habitats.

Their website introduction reads in part, "CREAMER'S FIELD MIGRATORY WATERFOWL REFUGE The 2,200-acre Refuge has forests, fields, and wetland habitat and provides ample chances to spot wildlife. The 300 acres of fields have a primary role in providing thousands of migratory birds a place to feed and rest each spring and fall."

I've been in and out a couple times this morning. Got enough sleep last night but was short changed a few days before that so making up. I had my nap & need to get jobs done!

Amy, we had that cold wind blasting yesterday & day before. Honestly, went through clothes like wearing nothing!  Looks like we have NO below freezing for the next 10 days so time to put the snow blower in storage. It has been leaking gas in the garage so will need to drain it out & then run until dry to store. We have had snow late March & even into April but I think it's anybody's guess this year! I'm hoping we had enough cold days/night to kill off some of the bugs that made it through the last few winters. I just got (Amazon) the stuff my neighbor said they put in the nests for the chickens... Diatomaceous Earth/food grade, to puff into the cat beds to see if it helps their scratching. I had to check uTube how to pronounce it.  :-[

Gloria, glad the boys got there at the same time, my boys hadn't spent much time together for years while raising their own kids but are now going to CO to camp every year. I wish I could be there, I love fixing breakfast for everyone, with a gas stove & oven like at home (biscuits & gravy, bacon or sausage & eggs, we don't go hungry) & then we eat lunch in town & they cook out in the evening. Some years Andy's son & friend join us the last couple days & also his wife if she plans to spend an extra week out there. The boys go off hiking & I try to get them to take a camera each, to bring me back pictures of areas I can't get to anymore. I can still see Joan rolling her eyes at my camping talk. ;D

I ran across an old WordPad with some sayings on that hit my funny bone.... so will share a couple. Can't give credit to where I copied from but at least it tells who said it! It looks like politicians didn't get much respect all through history!

A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.    Thomas Jefferson

We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.  Aesop

You snuck in, Patricia! I hope your politicians don't do what was done here, over turned someone's will leaving land for a park & did something THEY wanted, maybe turned the land over to make money for the city. Don't remember for sure but would have thought that was illegal. If I'd been part of that family I'd have insisted it come back to the family if they didn't do as the will said. I am upset our government is leasing out the National Forest campgrounds & only get a % of PROFIT. I'll bet it works out there is never much profit. It was nicer when the rangers had full control over how the campgrounds were run.
