Good Morning Everyfriend!  Until I came in here and read LLOYD'S post about NANCY, I thought I had a bad night.  I sure hope NANCY is feeling better today!

I had my second shingles shot yesterday and my are is very sore.  I had a bad evening until I realized I must be having a reaction and I just decided to go to bed early!  I feel somewhat better today but my arm is still sore.  That's something I can live with.  I have sore places in different places at different times and I just get on with it!

I was up about an hour earlier than usual today.  I think I'm still running on regular time.  It usually takes me about 2 to 3 weeks for my system to change over!

I haven't decided what's on the agenda for today besided emptying all the trash cans and putting the trash out tonight for pickup tomorrow!  I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning..

Yesterday I helped my friend measure up quilts for a sale on Sat along with having a cup of tea and chatting with her. On the way home I stopped and picked up another half bushel of Galas. I have no one to blame to the extra work but me.

Today we both get blood drawn and Kyle has xrays to do also.. After that it is anyone guess what will happen.

Jane, happy to read you feel better.

Lloyd, good that Nancy go her nose bleed stopped.

Had a busy day yesterday, the oxygen test. THAT is scary! Have a closepin tight on the nose & I have a terrible time breathing just through the mouth so gasping for air & heart racing off the charts. The lady testing laughed & said she never had anyone pass out yet! Pretty extensive testing over & over 'cause I kept cutting the test off to get a little air.  :o
Bottom line is they will be delivering oxygen, the concentrator from what I understand, but she said something about needing to be charged, etc., so not sure what comes with it. One of those times I GOTTA clean out a corner & since every corner is full, time to get rid of stuff. I really kinda hoped not to need this with allergy season still going strong, guess I can stuff a Kleenex around the nose piece?

Lloyd, did they give Nancy any reason for the bloody nose? I walked into the ER room where my uncle was one time & heard the nurse fussing at him saying, "You know, Mr.Smith, (really was our last name), you wouldn't be needing your nose packed if you took your iron like you should".  We have an anemia that runs in the family & one of the first bad signs is the instant bleeding if we get cut or hurt... or the nose.

Amy, I'm not seeing the big golden delicious apples that are my favs for frying or pies. I like the red delicious for eating but guess weather hasn't been right for apples this year. Usually KS & MO have plenty of home grown. If we had any orchards left I do think I would crawl the rows to get some picked ripe. Last time was when the kids were young & at least 50 years ago. Wahhhhhhhh. I loved hearing Gloria tell about helping her son during the season. After Mom died I would go visit Dad & often he'd have a cookie sheet filled with apples standing on end to bake in the oven, just took the core out & filled it back with brown sugar & would eat them like candy. Think his eating habits were why he lived to 95. He raised his own sweet potatoes & would dig up fairly small, wash & bake in the oven & peel the skin back like a banana & eat. They also got a tad of brown sugar on the inside as he ate. Good luck with the Dr.appointments today!

Jane, my daughter had a worse reaction with the 2nd shot, too. I've been a little worried because she takes every shot offered, but just had all the blood work done for the year & her numbers better than ever. Her Crohn's is under control with hardly any meds, which is a shock to her doctors since she has a part of the small & large intestine plus the valve between them missing.

Sandy, I guess we are still on the opposite side of the fence when it comes to politics. I was hoping for the economy to improve.  ;)

Better get moving, when the Doc says "months" before the valves blow, gotta do that extra cleaning. Erma Bombeck was always going to have her nervous breakdown when she got her closets cleaned.... I'd have to live to 120 at least to accomplish that.  :crazy2:

Hello Everyfriend!  It's soon going to be time for the haystack but I'm going to try to put it off a bit tonight since I went so early last night!  My arm is still a bit sore but it's better than it was so I guess I'm on the mend!

I don't have Cooper tomorrow but I might have Frankie while he's at the "hair cutterie".  She said she didn't think she'd go home and then come back out here to pick him up.  So that would be something different...Frankie without the "Cooper-snoop".

I'm going out and finish up what I have to do in the kitchen and maybe read another chapter of my library book before I hit the hay.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Here I sit with the nose thingy carrying oxygen to my head & just remembered those ones that go into the nose hang over the ears to stay in place. Duh..For somebody that hates changes my world has totally changed the last couple years! Turns out I'm to keep oxygen on 24/7 so came with house cord I can travel from one end to the other, the portable one to keep charged for going out (it has a 4 hour limit but can take the electric or car battery charger to extend time).... and one on wheels for when power out. Our power does go out frequently so nice to know a back up. This all paid for thru my BlueCross/Blue Shield & Medicare so I do pay, nothing out of pocket except what each takes out of my checking monthly. Worth every penny to not worry.

Rick, I forgot about the mask helping allergy problems! That's the masks I bought 'cause you told us were the best. We're supposed to get several nights well below freezing so hope the pollen shuts down for this year.  Need to change furnace filters now to get rid of what's gathered there. Did not have the furnace man out yet & Andy said it wouldn't hurt to just turn it on when needed. Time to cover the A/C & be ready for winter. Always plenty to do around a house!

Think I will start getting ready for bed, may be tangled in cords trying to set me up for the night. :idiot2:  This set up is about the size of one of the larger kitchen trash cans, fits behind the entrance of the living room whatever you call those half walls. My brother had to have large tanks delivered routinely but this is a concentrator & makes it's own oxygen just like the little one that will fit inside my purse/tote, lots of improvements since my brother had to use 10-15 years ago. Turned out I chose the right spot for the main piece of equipment, about the center of the house. Will have to disconnect ME to go downstairs, I think.

Sweet dreams & God Bless.

Well, Rick, it's what you notice anyone on oxygen wears with the little hoses that go into each nostril & when I first put on I didn't remember to hang over the ears so not a good fit. I admit to struggling with a runny nose because of allergies so not a pretty picture. I have not dashed thru the house to see if breathing is improving, but guess it will take time.  The delivery guy promises I will wake up feeling much-much better in the morn, be interesting to see if I wake up at the usual 3:00-3:30am time. Bad habits when you live alone~~

I did see one of the kittens tonight but didn't have any food out so it went on. I took some food out & looked a little later & the opposum was chowing down. They are SO ugly but they can't help that. Time for sleep.

Good Morning everyone. It Is 34º and cloudy Here. Good morning..

Happy Veterans Day and Remembrance day. Growing up, the night before when I was able to ,I shone my Dads medals, next day would be the parade in town. After the parade some of the men would come back to the house for refreshments and food. Never heard a word about the war from any of them and never did from my Dad.

Should bake bread today a chase dust bunnies.

Shirley, the oxygen should make life a lot nicer for breathing. Once you get used to it you will never know it is on.Thankfully I have no allergies but Kyle does and breathing can be a problem  ,he uses puffers for it and so far it works. Our appointments went well, if all goes well with my blood work my appointments  will be yearly not every 6 months.

Patricia, are you snowed under?

Phyllis everything ok your way?

Best get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept in a bit this morning.  I guess that's because I stayed up a bit later.  I decided to read a chapter of my book before I went to bed and it turned into 3 chapters.  His books all have "now what" when you finish a chapter!

I don't know what's up today but we're supposed to get a rainy one from the dregs of the hurricane that hit the south coast.  My phone says 51º and raining out there.  I haven't even looked out the window yet this morning.  I don't have Cooper today so I won't have to be out walking in the rain.  It'll be a nice day to read!  Maybe I'll take advantage of that.

SHIRLEY, good luck with all that air stuff.  I think I'd be falling over it or twisted up in it most of the time.  I sure hope it helps you to feel better.

Right now, I need get some breakfast.  I'm thinking English muffin sounds good with butter and jam on it!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

P.S.  I just looked out the window and it's raining...not hard storm rain...just coming down!

JaneS,
Have you ever tried "Muffin Burgers". It's been years but I remember they were yum yum good.
It's the WINDMILLS

          THIMK

and it's what they DON'T tell you...........  Got thru the night, even an extra hour of sleep BUT, I discovered when fixing my breakfast I make all right turns in the kitchen and pretty soon the cord that goes to the nose (sing/song that) is wound up like a spring. It really was! So had to twirl around opposite direction to unwind me. Funny part is the cat is not the least bothered by all these cords & changes. The good news for anyone that may have to use oxygen in their future, it is NOT as invasive as I expected. The cord that tethers me to the concentrator is not a problem to drag around, just gotta remember to make as many right turns as left so you don't screw it up!

And that's my news for the day! Oh, it is cold out but no frost, snow or ice. There is a sycamore leaf blowing in circles right outside this sliding door... it is the size of the largest dinner plate in the house, maybe a platter. Not from my young tree!

Lloyd, my Smith line came from England and when I was in high school I checked them out because I sat next to a Smith boy that everyone thought we were kin. Dad knew of all that belonged to those Smiths. My 3rd grade teacher told me I probably had some Indian blood in me because my hair was "blue-black" and when I started putting the Clairol dye over the gray in my 20s, I had to buy the "velvet black" to brush in to match the black. 23andME says I have 0 Native American so I was totally disappointed. I thought that was why I loved the woods and wildlife and talked to the animals! I would rather be in the woods watching the wildlife than in ANY man made city or tourist attraction.

I still get "goose bumps" on my arms every Veterans Day, those years of worrying about my brothers, one in US Air Corp & other in US Navy on ships where ever the action was, seems like yesterday when it was called Armistice Day. The sight of the Statue of Liberty when our troop ship came into the harbor March 1957 after nearly 3 years being "overseas" had buckets of tears flowing down my face. I tear up at parades and will be waving the flag in my coffin... oops, we are doing cremation....  mixed emotions. A day for remembering.

RICK, I never did hear of muffin Burgers so I went and looked them up.  Are they made in muffin tins like my "Jim's Egg Thingys"?  I just might have to try them.

SHIRLEY, I hope you keep "unwound".  It sounds like that might be your biggest problem!

My celebration of Veterans Day is right outside my office in his WWI uniform!  My dad was a veteran of WWI and they sure don't say much about those veterans these day!  They must think there's no one around who remembers them any more.  WELL, I DO!  AND MY WHOLE FAMILY DOES!

I've also been missing GLORIA.  Are you there?

Good morning plus 8 and clear this morning. I slept in; it was 6:45, and I hadn't had my coffee yet. Amy, no snow now or expected. Since 2020 and 2021 were 100-year snows, according to those in the know, this year has been a surprise. First, we had light snow that turned into sheets of ice, then the next two, forecast to be 4 inches, and then 3 to 8 inches turned out to be white rain. Without clouds to hold in the heat, it will get colder.

Shirley, you'll have to do as my friend Amelia does, to keep right or, in your case, left. She's getting a portable canister in some harness, but I don't have the details or the understanding.

Jane, I had 17 uncles, 18 including my father in WWII and Korea, and both husbands and an uncle were in Vietnam, and not one of them returned undamaged. My first husband disappeared in the Kentucky hills soon after our divorce, and two of my uncles, one army and one navy, were in prisoner-of-war camps. None of them discussed the war or their part in it. They only wanted their lives back.

Gloria's daughter mentioned she would be moving from her apartment, no longer living alone, and wouldn't be back on the computer.

It's been a long time since I've had one. We used the large Thomas' English Muffins. I will try to remember the "build'.      Split muffin and toast. On one side, a pat of butter, a hefty hamburger, S&P, some Worcestershire Sauce, thin slice of onion, slice of Tomato, Lettuce, Top of Muffin.  Lean forward and eat it. If you like Mayo you can toss that in too, or a couple of Bread and Butter Pickles.

I'd just love to have one right now. --- Mouth watering :smitten:

Well, I rooted through the freezer and the fridge today and I have everythin for RICK'S muffins except the hamburger.  However, I did find all the stuff to make sausage and egg muffins in the morning so that's on the menu for tomorrow.  And hamburger is on my list for  this week's shopping trip!

I finished another Jack Higgins book today and I have one more to go before I've worked my way through all the large-print ones that our library has.  I think my next idea is to check the books on tape and see if they have any of his on tape.  That way, I can have the books and get some stuff done, too.

Tomorrow we have to make a trip to the recycle center.  I'm overloaded with stuff including leaves and it will be good to get rid of it!

PATRICIA, I thought it was cold here but it was nothing compared to where you are.  I think I'm glad that life didn't dump me in Alaska.  I really mind the cold these days!

I'm off to the haystack and I can sleep in tomorrow.  Cooper's coming but Frankie isn't scheduled until 10 do he'll be a bit later!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

We are off to visit with son this morning. Will take along some of the loaves of raisin bread and white bread for them to wear....er I mean enjoy.

They say rain for today ,nicer than snow to deal with.

Rick, your muffin burgers made my mouth water!! Will try them,  one could freeze the pattie then make the burger up later.

Patricia, please keep deep minuses there. At the moment this past week has been nice...into the 60's and some rain . I know we will soon get snow up past our asters but until then we are enjoying this!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning, AMY" because you're here already.  I agree, RICK'S burgers sound mouth-watering.  I'm going to pick up frozen burgers at Davy's the next time we go there.  Then I can keep muffins around an have them whenever the feeling strikes.

I have to go get dressed and start carting the recycling outside.  It frustrates Cathy when I do that but I think I should continue doing the things that I feel comfortable doing.  I just take smaller loads these days.  She doesn't understand that yet...but she will some day!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Yesterday, it rained all day here.  It was the fallout from the storm that hit Florida!

Lloyd, hope they find the cause of Nancy's nose bleeds. Dry air is one of the culprits.

Jane, we do have to keep moving ,not take on or out as much as one would normally do but still take it out. Now we have to take two or three trips where one would have done in the past.

Lloyd, I feel sorry for Nancy. Winter dries out everything, especially noses, making it easier to keep happening once it happens.

I run a humidifier, and it helps.

Jane and Amy, I live in the arctic; it's not as bad as it once was, dipping into fifty to seventy below in December through January for two-week stretches. Now we may get a day here or there with possibly thirty below, but it's becoming rare and doesn't last. And it's a dry cold and not a wet one that sinks into your bones.

I've said this before, but it bears re-telling. Twenty below in a dry climate is warmer than forty above, with steady rain in a wet climate.

Still, no snow, and it's sunny and clear, so with no clouds to hold in the heat, it will get colder. It's a catch-22. More clouds, more humidity, and more snow are fine for those into their winter sports and not so fine for those trying to maneuver through it or move the snow out of the way.

I agree about the heavy lifting; I do a chore a day rather than multiple in a single day or less.
