Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I'm sure the same was said about cars, telephones, telegraphs, and airplanes.

A cleaning robot taking over ALL the house chores, changing beds, etc. would be more than welcome I am sure. Just cleaning the floor is not enough...

When cars became more common in the nineteen twenties, and more people could afford to buy them, there was a backlash over them, the same as with cell phones and computers.

People are and were up in arms over almost every new invention, it's human, and it's healthy, but to use an old expression, you can't stop progress; you learn to use it wisely before moving on.

RAMMEL

Before cell phones we had no excuse to just walk out into the street crossing without looking. Now we have those cell phones and we can walk blindly around texting. I love it. It saves so much time. Progress is great.

Love all the statues, Bubble, and did NOT see the pet in the basket! For a while I took up creating with clay & thought it could be a way to create if eye sight went bad. The studio did the firing but my friend went on & has a small bronze at the zoo, commissioned for the blind to feel to "see" what the animal looks like.

With all the engineers in my family I get to see the new designs when I'm invited to open house, amazing what they can do now. Only robots I run in to around here are the floor cleaners at Sam's Club. I don't get out a lot so enjoy seeing what they can do.

Haha, Jane, I also hate those auto calls but sometimes I even leave a nasty crack cause I know somebody out there has to listen to them!

Amy, every time I go past your photo of lilacs it surprises me because the bushes I've seen aren't shaped like that.... We have lots of flowering crab trees that look like that & all shades & tints of pink to lavender. The crab apples are a mess when they rot on the ground. I still can't "picture in my head" what your wide angle landscape looks like. At first I imagined only a few houses in a cove. Fun to have friends around the world to take our minds for a whirl.  Hope you don't mind that I copied your photo of the colored eggs to show my neighbor that has 8 chickens, pairs of 4 breeds. Any chance of seeing the chickens?

Shirley, that's what those old gym whistles are for!

Patricia, lovely new avatar! I like blue flowers and don't see many around.

I would love to paint alien faces on those green eggs!

That man in the first statue could have been my father posing, in his younger years of course.

They are all interesting, makes me believe that the first couple and third grouping were political ones.

Love imagination that put the 2 faces together. Bubble, that is a handsome guy. What did your father do to take you to "distant lands", or where was he from?  I've lived such a mundane life in comparison............ Sculptures fascinate me.... I never had one of mine go on to bronze but put glazes on to make them look like. Only high fired clay.

Okay, clear it up, Bubble pointed to one statue that looked kinda like her father & I said he must have been a handsome man.... I'm interested/nosy/curious about everyone, asked where her father had grown up or something to that effect. I blabber everything about me & my family.

I am rushing to get to bed before 10:00 pm, didn't eat anything tonight so trying to down a few Ritz crackers with peanut butter & washing down with Gatorade to tide me over till morning. Time's up. Sweet dreams & God Bless to all.

By the way, Patricia, we didn't have gym whistles.  :(

Shirley, his parents were from Izmir (Turkey) but he was born in Rhodes, the island that was  an Italian colony at the time. Now it is Greek.

My mom's parents were from Hebron and Jerusalem (before Israel creation!) respectively but mom was born in Cairo (Egypt) where her dad worked as a rabbi.

The approach of WW II made them try to find a future in Congo where a younger brother of dad was already settling.

That in short is the family saga.
