Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Good morning, I've finished my morning routine, Farrah's had her breakfast and meet and greets went well. All that's left is coffee to finish. I've found I drink eight cups of coffee in the morning and ice water from the fridge all afternoon, so I get both daily requirements and in proper order.

We are back in our prelude to Spring, with March being our last gasp of winter, although it has been known to snow in April.

The Iditarod, the last one thousand mile dog race, will have a ceremonial start in Anchorage and then the racers and teams will be flown to Fairbanks, for the real start due to Anchorage's lack of snow. The race to Nome commemorates the serum race to Nome in 1925 when dog sled teams delivered life-saving diphtheria antitoxin to combat a potential outbreak in Nome.

The race typically covers approximately 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers) of challenging and diverse Alaskan terrain, including forests, mountains, frozen rivers, and desolate tundra. Mushers, the competitors in the race, are required to navigate this grueling course while caring for their teams of sled dogs, ensuring they stay healthy, well-fed, and motivated throughout the journey.

I checked and found that Jerusalem gets 10 to 15 centimeters of snow about once every seven years on average

Trees have that look - I notice at the end of winter before they put out any green nubs they have this upright look as if reaching for the sun rather than the flat look of sleeping through winter.

Only one hanging plant sorta made it after having been in the garage all this time - I'm thinking I'm going to let it go as well - too much work to cut away all the dead and nurse the bit of green back to a thriving display - Surprise surprise - just put the garbage out and noticed the pot of mums I put out well over a week ago to get some of the rain is doing quite well in spite of the cold last week - thinking on it realized where it was cold it was not freezing and so without a plan looks like I have a pot of mums.

Daughter just called while I was writing this - she was under the impression from one eye doctor that getting cataract surgery was going to clear up her double vision and thank goodness her regular eye doctor was back in town and helped her understand it would not - she is struggling with this since her vision was perfect till she was age 45 where as I've been dealing with eye issues since I was a kid although didn't develop double vision till I was in my 50s - and that was scary - had new eyeglasses when I was in my 70s and they did not adjust them for the double vision which I was not noticing till it was dark - on my way home from visiting Paul and Sally who then lived in College Station while I lived in Austin and all of a sudden could not tell if there was one or two barns on the side of the road or worse one or two vehicles ahead of me and which was the real one - as I approached Austin the same with traffic light - I managed and it took twice as long to get home but I did it and of course first thing called the eye doctor in the morning who arranged a rush order from a place in San Antonio so that I had appropriate eye glasses within 2 days - but my glasses help both my reading and distance where Katha needs two sets of glasses - one for reading and one for distance.

Well day is gone and supper to fix - hope everyone had a good day...

Cataract corrections (surgeries) are amazing. Including the possibilities of correcting vision problems. Everyone I heard talk about it says "I should have done it years ago".  I had one done, with that special lens to correct (whatever you call it).  May get the other done later this year.  Not up to it in this cold weather.

BarbStAubrey

Jane your soup sounds like a magical elixir - how many quarts at a time do you make and do you use water or stock to fill up the pot?

patricia19

Good morning all!

JaneS

bARB, The soup is made over my dad's (his mom's) recipe and it made with broth.  If I used water, I'm afraid he'd be here to shake the stuffing out of me!  When I remarked that this would probably be the last time I'd make soup to donate to my church's soup sale, my daughter suggested that I write down the recipe to share.  I had to write it as I went because there has never been a recipe written down that I know of.  I just bring everything into the kitchen and out of the freezer and start.

Tomorrow, I'll be canning it and the first Sunday in April, I'll be taking my donation to the soup sale at church.  The money we make from the soup sales helps to pay for things that are needed for local babies and that makes me happy.  It also makes me happy to keep my Dad's tradition going!

Gotta get moving!  Have a good day!

Jane --- In line with keeping your dad's tradition alive, when you're done writing it down, post it here.

] Rick, I could post the recipe here but you'd have to cut it back considerably.  It's makes 10 quarts for two deliveries to the church and I don't know how many pints for on my shelves and to share with family and friend!  But I'll work on it!

Now I have to wait for the dishwasher to stop and take Cooper for one more jaunt in the yard and then get ready for bed.  The morning will start early.  The canner will be doing it's job tomorrow!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own!

Good morning..

Yesterday did not go as planned. We left here innice weather and roads, half way to the city we ran into snow!! White outs , roads conditons not nice and we ended up cancelling both appointments and headed home. We saw one car off the road berry picking, cops and ambulance were there but I think the driver would be more shook up than hurt. We were lucky enough to get behind snow plows and stayed until they turns off. All appointment have been re-scheduled.

Today I have the joys of laundry after meeting with a friend to deliver what we had picked up for her at Costco.

Jane, just write the  recipe as is and we can break in down into smaller servings. The church must look forward to all your hard work at making this delicious soup!!

Bubble, I wouldn't mind getting that amount of snow. Seems we are in for more snow this weekend.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The first batch of soup is in the canner and will be there for a while!  I had a bowl for my supper last night and it's passable.  I'm sure it's not up to my Dad's quality or his mother's (My Gramma's) but I like it and Cathy had some when she was here and she said that she needs the recipe if I'm quitting!

AMY, good you got back home safely!  We wouldn't want you sitting out there in the snow!

I can't hear the timer on the soup but it has 48 more minutes to go and when Cathy was here she reminded me that we have tickets for the high school musical tomorrow afternoon so I think I'll put off canning the next batch until (maybe) Sunday afternoon.

RICK, when Cathy was here she made some notes on my recipe.  I'll be typing it up and printing out copies for my kids.  When I do that, I'll post it, too!

Now I have to get back to work!  I wish you all a great day!  It's yours to do with as you pleas but don't forget about us!

Not a real good day for me but don't want to just sit in the recliner  all day so trying to  keep  going with  regular  routine. Sunny and a little  cooler  today.  Snow  is  all gone and temperatures were up in the  70's yesterday. It's a pretty day.

Take  care,  All.

Another day dissapearing.  Picked up cracked 🌽  at the feed mill. Our crows are back! So nice to see and hear them , whistled to them  and needed to run in for food ,to give them, they didn't  forget!

Tomorrow  will be another dance in the morning if this snow keeps up.

Jane, we were so happy to get behind snow plows, the closer we came to home the less snow we had to deal with. Guess it is making up for it today.

Enjoy your evening.

Good Night Everyfriend!  It's been a busy day!  Frankie didn't work today but she didn't come for Cooper until almost 4 p.m.  I'd already fed him his supper and taken him for a last walk of the day.  It was a gorgeous day today.  When we came back from our mid day walk, I had to practically drag him in the house and he headed right for the front door and begged to go out.  The yard is fenced  so I let him out and he spent almost the next 3 hours ot there.  Every time I went to the door and asked him if he was ready to come in, he looked at me for a minute and then looked away and laid down in the sun!

There are 7 quarts of vegetable soup sitting on the dining room table waiting to be labeled and 5 delivered to the church for the first Sunday in April sale!  Tomorrow, I'm not going to finish it because Cathy has tickets for us to go to the high school musical in the afternoon!  She takes me every year and I love watching the kids perform!  I think I'll work on the soup Sunday afternoon!

This afternoon I saw a V of ducks fly over heading North!  I really do think Spring is right around the corner!

And now I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Do whatever pleases you most!  The day is yours!
