Sandy--I watch one segment of the news--they cover it all over and over for 2 1/2 hours for the local nightly news.  After one segment I switch to something else--just too tragic and sad for me to watch it that long.

Janie--You're right--very quiet here in the SS this p.m.  Maybe everyone is hunting for zzz's. :)

Good afternoon, it's 2:10 here and quiet. I just finished and sent in my last six PSP lessons so I'm going to look for a good book to read!

Everyone, have a good day or evening!

Denver

I just heard that the two year old was wading in water when the alligator grabbed him.  They found the body totally in tact....I hope they do not announce next that there were no puncture wounds on the body....leaving us to wonder about this story in general.

Agree, way too much detail from the media....

Gloria in all it took almost 16 hours to upgrade to W-10. It's working ok so far, but I can't see what makes it better than W-7

Larry I took the easy route; I uninstalled the programme that wasn't working and installed a newer version and everything works fine.

Sandy I can remember as a child that my mother had a harness for me and my brother. I'm surprised that parents don't use them today.

JaneS

If those zzzzs are hiding on the sofa, I couldn't find them this afternoon.  But then, my neighbor came over to give me some eggs.  His brother has a farm and lots of chickens and he was overrun with eggs so he shared.  Nice!

Then my friend called from California and said that she'd like to come to PA for a bit this summer.  I told her that her room is ready and just let me know when she has her ticket.  I don't have to meet her at the airport because she has a sister here who will do that.  But her sister has a houseful and I think she's more comfortable with me and I like having her here.

I'm probably going to find some of those zzzs floating around in the living room tonight while I'm trying to watch TV and that's good because tomorrow is a busy day.  I think I'll go see if any of them have roosted on my recliner.  I'll be back to say good night later.  Enjoy your evening, afternoon, night or whatever part of the day you are in right now.

It was in the 80's today but it was not humid so I sat out for awhile. My CNA gad late hours today so when she got here I came inside. We have been bothered with those tent caterpillars this year, they are every where. I noticed the few oak trees around have leaves that are being eaten by them. They crawl up trees and buildings, too. Well after we got in  we were talking and she went into the kitchen and got a napkin and walked toward me. About that time it fely like something was on my neck. She came up to me with that napkin and took one of them off me just as it was going on my neck. Yuck, for a few hours after that it felt like I had something crawling on me. Don't think I will sit outside again.

LARRY  looks like you had a good time with your friends yesterday. I enjoy it when my younger son comes for a visit most Saturday's unless he is working. I think he misses me since I moved here from his house 2 years ago. I did send emails to a few with plain instruvtions on how to use BCC and remove all other names and addresses but they did not want to bother I guess. The only time I don't use it is if I am sending something to family members so they know the others got it and they do not have to send it to them. Family knows each others addresses. Will have to check that password and change all of mine again. I do keep them in a little pad I have so I can remember them.

CAROL  so far this week I have not had the AC or even a fan running. Been comfortable in here and cool enough for sleeping.

PHYLLIS  I used to get cannoli at an Italian bakery and they were wonderful. Seems like a lot of bakeries around here have gone out of business. There is one local dairy that has a bakery but every thing is whipped cream and after awhile that gets tiresome. Glad Joan cannot give me demerits anymore. My CNA is a whiz at housework.

CALLIE  your granddaughter got the acting talent you didn't have. Cure story.

JUNE  there was not much my grandson could do on the PC. He said if I left 10 in he could have partitioned the hard drive and installed my disk for 7. I am not brave enough to try downloading 10 again. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will try. Will talk to him before doing it.

JOAN glad you took some “ME” time today. You do not do that often enough.  Hope that new couple is as good as the ones you had so long.

GLORIA de  glad that man said you might get by without a new roof by fixing things. The guru I used to have was great. He knew a lot of programs people use and the computers inside out. He always had a curious mind and taught himself. I still miss him but he moved to Florida, he was originally from there. He was busy here and had a good business, always in demand even by companies in Boston.

JENNY  I love the temperature and low humidity so far this week. Unusual when it gets warm here and have low humidity.

SANDY  they did find the remains of that poor toddler, sad. When I went anywhere with my 3 they never left my sight.  Like the little boy who fell into the gorilla enclosure.   If that mother had not allowed them to run around that would not have happened. Guess I am just old fashioned because I was strict with them and they have been strict with their children. Youngest grand is 28 and they are all responsible people.

JANE  no matter what store people are always happy to see most all the checkouts have people working at them. One market I used to go to had a lot of checkout counters but would only have 3 or 4 open so the lines were always long.

DON  I read where others downloaded 10 and it went for hours. I might have got a bad installation or something. I just could not do anything with it. The topper was when I got stationery into my mail not one graphic showed up. I enjoy making stationery in PSP and when I sent one into a group it came back to me with only the credits for the tutorial showing. Where did you download from? Since I got this computer I kept getting a pop up to download it. Maybe I should have clicked on the window 10 icon on the task bar.

JANE  wish I was getting someone from California come and visit me. Will not happen now, she is too busy getting things packed for a trip to Arizona. Our now 99 year old here is leaving Saturday for a trip to San Diego.

Have a good night everyone.

Jenny - We now have a brand new top-of-the-line air conditioner! House is nice and cool and I sure wouldn't want to go through another two days like that. It was 104 here yesterday afternoon, which is unusually hot. In the 14 years we've been here it seldom gets to the high 90s. We're in the north central part of Florida.

There was a nice breeze this morning but it was still hot. I played golf with the group and then out to breakfast.

Callie - Cute story about your theatrical career being cut short. I'm pretty sure I can scream but have no acting talent.  :)

Gloria - I remember tent caterpillars all too well. They seem to come in cycles and can strip a hillside of it's leaves......creepy little things

Bis, I do hope you will find housekeepers as satisfactory as your last ones.

Gloria, I know how happy you were when your daughter came to visit you last time. After they get settled in their new home, she may be able to get away for a bit. We had an influx of small black caterpillars for a couple of weeks. They crawled up the outside walls of the club house and laid eggs on the outside ceiling of the walkways. There were cocoons hanging for about two or three weeks, now small black butterflies are being "born". Quite an unusual sight to see them develop like that.

Hal didn't get back in today, and I don't remember seeing a post from Lloyd. I hope he is taking care of himself.

Beverly, 104 in Florida is very unusual isn't it ?  I am so glad you have a nice new AC. Enjoy !

I went to a couple of programs today, and feel really tired tonight, so I am going to get ready for bed. Two or more programs for tomorrow…I'll make my decision then.

I hope you all have a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. I send you Prayers, Love and hugs. June

Miami

When my sons were quite young and just learning to read, I would encourage them by always reading the signs we saw as we drove around town. Many of our trips involved getting onto I-95 just south of West Palm Beach. So I would always read, "I-95 North West Palm Beach. I-95 South Miami."

After many months of going through this routine, my then four-year-old asked me one day, "Mommy, when are we EVER gonna go see 'Your Ami'?"

Kids do say the darndest things.

Food For Thought

Handling Conflicts
(Adapted by Louis Lapides from John Powell, Why I am Afraid to Tell You Who I Am?)

The late US syndicated columnist Sydney J. Harris accompanied his friend George to his favorite newsstand. George greeted the man selling the newspapers courteously, but in return he received gruff service. He barely acknowledged his customer and never even looked up at him when he requested the late night edition. Accepting the newspaper, which was shoved rudely in his direction, George politely smiled and wished the newsman a pleasant weekend. The proprietor grunted an indiscernible sound and seemed relieved that the two men had completed their transaction.

As the two friends walked down the street the columnist asked, "Does he always treat you so rudely?" "Yes, unfortunately, he does," George responded. "And are you always so kind and friendly to him?" "Yes, I am!" George continued as they turned a corner. "Why are you so nice when he is so unfriendly to you?" With a look of deep contemplation, George explained, "Because I don't want him to decide how I am going to act."

----

Who decides how you are going to act? Is it your circumstances or the difficult people in your life that determine your responses? When we allow our conflicts to control us, we behave as though getting rid of our predicaments is our only priority. Therefore, it doesn't really matter how we treat one another.

For example, we say, "This person is causing me distress right now so I don't care about exercising patience, self-control, and loving kindness. Instead, I want to let them to know how angry I am because of their actions."

We forget our trials will eventually subside. But the way we handle conflicts will influence our lives for a long time. Will you only respond to the momentary crisis or will you be more concerned about the enduring value of what kind of person you are becoming? Who decides how you will act when the pressure is on?

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's going to be a rainy day here today.  It started just about the time I went to bed last night and it's supposed to rain off and on all day until about 9 tonight.  The temp is only supposed to reach 70 today...my kind of temps!

I'll be off to my station at Wally World this morning and then I have an eye apt at 1:45.  My nice neighbor is going to drive me and she will wait and bring me home.  Whatever it is they are going to do, they will not do if you don't have a driver.  This is a referral from my regular eye dr. and I'm not sure what to expect.

I'm going to finish checking my emails and then feed the doggies and begin my morning routine.  Have a lovely day, Everyfriend!

P.S.  Molly, I hope Mohammed is safely at home.

Good morning everyone.

What a fantastic day we had yesterday..thank you all for the good wishes on winning the long arm,yes Larry I would make room for that, if won. We all came home with some goodies and sore sides from laughing.Quilts from all over Canada were there ,some stunning ones to see.

Today I need to use up some ripe bananas and tidy up the house as I will be gone again tomorrow. My friend has to go to the cardiologist for her check. She had new batteries and wires put in her pacemaker.

Another lovely day here, sunny and a bit cool at the moment but 90° weather is coming this weekend.

Jane, have a great day at work.

Gloria ewww we have those tent caterpillars here too and I don't like them!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, Amy.  Glad you had such a good time yesterday even if you didn't win the long arm sewing machine.  How nice of you to drive your friend to her cardiologist appointment.  We had those tent caterpillars in NY, but none here thank goodness.

Hi everyone on what is going to be another scorcher of a day getting to 97 degrees this afternoon and no rain in sight.  It is already 76 degrees with 85% humidity.  I will try to stay where it is air-conditioned as much as possible today.  I have already taken care of my outside watering morning chores.

Today I will go to coffee and then to the Wisdom class at church.  Then this evening, starting at 5:15 our Sunday School class is having a party with the food being catered.  There were about 70 people signed up as of last Sunday morning.  It should be very enjoyable and a chance to talk with people more than is possible on Sunday morning, although there is a lot of chatter before the class begins.

Yesterday Scott didn't need me to help him get parts for his brake job on his car.  He got them fixed and then met us about 12:30 at the Tin Lizzie Bar-B-Q side of the restaurant.  This was our first and last visit to that side of the place as the food, except for some awesome Mac and cheese was really bad.  Pat was wise and was able to order from the Mexican menu and really enjoyed her food.  I guess they all can't be winners.  Scott had a medical appointment and then was going to come out.  However, he went back to his house and laid down and we didn't hear from him until 8 pm when he called to say he was on his way to spend some time with us.

Phyllis, I sure wish we had a French Bakery nearby.  We do have a cupcake store in our downtown area but have never stopped there and probably won't.  We get very good bakery products from COSTCO.

Callie, with the rain we had Tuesday I was going to turn my sprinkler system off but, of course, forgot to do so.  However, I am sure the  yard will appreciate the additional water today.  I just looked up Ronnie Claire Edwards as had no idea what her role was in the Walton's.  She had a long and apparently successful career.   Too bad she ended your stage career so quickly.

deAngel, you must be among the few still using a Vista operating system on your computer.  Microsoft hasn't supported that operating system for years.  Glad it is still serving your purposes.

Jenny, you will be ready for a vacation by Sunday evening although know you will probably enjoy every minute with those grandchildren.  I remember well you were concerned you were not going to be blessed with grandchildren.

Don, glad you now have a new program that helps you with your radio show.

Lloyd, is the baling those very large bales?  We always had on old small bale piece of equipment and my job was usually to sit on be sure the twine was tied on the bale.  It was a dirty and very hot job.  Then we had to pick up the bales by hand and load on a wagon and elevate them into the attic.  My job was usually in the hot attic.  I survived but that wasn't one of my favorite jobs.

Amy, I don't mean to contradict your info on your friends pacemaker.  However, I was told they cannot just replace the batteries because they couldn't keep the device sterile if it were to be opened up.  I am on my second pacemaker/defibrillator and the doctor gave me the old one.  I did have a third wire put into my heart with the second device and my heart is now paced about 98 percent of the time.  Sorry you didn't win that long-arm quilting machine.

Vanilla-Jackie

One again both myself and R are heartbroken...this morning we took our Benji to the vets, re, his kidney appointment.....in the waiting room as usual we put him on the scales only to read he had lost more weight since last visit two weeks ago, re, his teeth.....Told female vet of our four reasons and concerns now, his weight loss, his teeth-gums heeling, his kidneys and his constant licking of around his privates area...also mentioned of anal lump that both our new vet and our previous vet was happy with, although measurements stated it had grown...we also mentioned lump which now no one can seem to find....Well female vet placed her hands around his back end, said straight away " oh yes a lump " done an immediate anal gland check, said " yes " its a rapid cancer, the cancer has now spread..." " nothing can be done, it will be quick..." Well we all agreed it wont be now....he is not in pain, still active, still eating food....of course I couldn't hold back the tears, I cried and could see R was fighting back the tears........Don't know how long Benji has got with us..I got female vet to write on a piece of paper what cancer hes got...." Anal adenocarcinoma with spread to inguinal lymph nodes.... am going to spoil Benji rotten while we have time left with him, we played tug today for the first time since his teeth removal....and the kisses and hugs will be flowing more than ever...

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  Enjoy your Bible study and meal.

Larry--Good morning.  It's a scorcher here today, too.  I'm don't have to go out for anything.  Scott must have been tired when he finished working on his car.  At least he made it to visit after a nap.  Enjoy your Sunday school class party tonight.

Vanilla-Jackie--I am so very sorry about the report you got about Benji.  I can well imagine you are heart broken.  (((Hugs))) for you and Benji.

Good morning everyone, still catching up on sleep I did not get over the week end.

BEVERLY  this year with those caterpillars is not as bad as I have seen other years but to have one on me yesterday really gave me the creeps. I was glad my CNA saw it or it would have been crawling on my skin and not just my clothes.

JUNE  sounds like the tent caterpillars we are bothered with this year. They can get pretty big too.

JOAN   good ole apple fritters this morning, good stuff to start my day.  Like the “your Ami” cute kids thoughts. I like Handling conflicts. We have all had some in our lives and how we handled them is who we are now. Today's quote is so true. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  good morning. Be careful out in the heat and sun.

JANE  no rain here in the forecast but the temperatures and low humidity have been great this week. Good luck with your eye appointment.

AMY  glad you enjoyed the quilt show. Guess you did not win the sewing machine.   :'( After having one of those creepy things on me yesterday I do not think I will be sitting on the porch today.

HAL  you have been quiet the last few days.

JACKIE  my heart goes out to you and R about Benji. I know what it is like when you have a much loved pet and you know their time is limited.

Jackie, I am very sorry to hear about Benji. I know he feels loved.

Not much going on here although there have been plenty of police and or ambulance sirens out there so that isn't the case everywhere.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Good morning, Sandy.  Enjoy your walk.  I'd be delighted if our temperature was in the 70s.

Gloria--Good morning.  I don't like bugs of any kind.  Think I'll get a couple apple fritters the next time I shop.  I LOVE them.

Good morning, Mary Ann.

Larry
yes they are large round bales weigh between 16-18 hundred LBS. my first balling experience as a child was water boy'
then a paying job was set in the dirty end of a stationary bailor and poke wire through for one of my older cousins to tie.
I am not tough enough to do that any more.

Lloyd

Amy

I thought I posted to Larry and it went off in cyber space me thinks.it was a long post too :(

Larry, this is her 4th one  and the worst one for her to go through. When she was ready to come home  she passed out, hitting and opening her head as she fell.A nurse in a hurry to get to her stepped on both her feet and they are black and blue!! Being on blood thinners you know how she bled and it took a few days for that to stop. They took her to xray only to find out the wires needed replacing...they were only 22 years old!!! So back in for a second surgery!! A couple of days at home and she wasn't feeling up to par and was rush back to the city in an ambulance only to find out the new wires were faulty!! This lady has a fantastic sense of humor , she phoned her son when she came home saying don't pay the ransom I escaped!!! I hope she gets good news tomorrow....the fall caused a concussion too!!

Jackie, I am sorry to hear about Benji, I know how we felt when we were told that Sassy had cancer. I searched the internet for help. I gave her turmeric and sardines. She loved the sardines and I can't remember what they did...but the turmeric shrunk the tumors!! I just wished I knew about that and we found them early. Hugs to you..

have found that I am allergic

try to stay clear of them,  and
give them some space!!

I had a nice morning out in the

I can wait!

Good mid-morning dear hearts, I am later than usual this morning as I was placing an order to Blair, and got messed up because they did not have my new email address, and I got transferred from one "help" to another and finally felt so weary I told the girl I was just going hang up and I did. So I don't know if my order was placed or not. Phooey !!!

I missed one of my programs too...Music Bingo, which I really enjoy.

Jackie, And now I have read about dear Benji, and my problems are nothing compared to this dear little dog. I just pray he will not have to suffer any pain. I know how you and R. are suffering though. I have been there and done that with my Petey dog.

We woke up to sunshine in Stanton today..a rare occasion, but it is going to turn warmer now that the sun is out. Alas. Still about 15 degrees less than Hemet where I used to live.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Checking in to say HELLO.

We are all doing well.  Mom and Dad left at 4 AM, and the rest of us slept till 7.  Kate had to go to camp at 9 and GBob picked her up at noon.  Lunch is over and we will soon dress for a swim at our indoor pool.  Love going there as no sun screen is required!

JACKIE, I am in tears thinking about your Benji.  I know you will know when it is time and that you will enjoy making his time left as special as possible.  IF only for a miracle....my prayers will include asking that and that if it is not possible, then comforting kindness for you all.  HUGS.

BEVERLY, so glad you and CHAPE are enjoying the newly installed A/C.

LARRY, good that Scott was able to do the break job without your help.  Sorry the BBQ was not up to snuff!  Yes, I must admit I am very blessed to have all my grand's...it took a bit to get them but finally I did!

MOLLY, hope Mohamed arrived safel....
