Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Hal, this too will pass, I'm sure, and I am really thankful that I can do what I can do. This move to Rowntree Gardens was the wisest thing I could have done. Thanks to my sons. I am so sorry for the death of your brothers DIL, we never expect those that are younger to go before we do. My condolences to the family.

I ate a sensible supper downstairs. They ring a little bell before serving meals in the dining room before serving the meal for folks that so desire, to say a silent "grace" for their meal. I like that..many things they do here I like very much.

Tomorrow my Gary is coming by to take me to his dentist . I understand they will not work on my tooth, but just take down information, possibly check things out...I don't know, but thankfully we will find out what can be done.

I pray you all have a very peaceful nights sleep, and a happy tomorrow. I send you Hugs, Love and Prayers.    June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

June, glad you're feeling better.

Hal, my condolences to your brother and family.  I've added you to my prayer list.  I do specifics when I think they are needed.  And I think!

I'm on my way to Dreamland!  Good Night Everyfriend!  I wish you peaceful rest and a blessed day tomorrow.

Halkel, my sympathies with you, re, your kidney problem...after all, all we want to do is keep away from those hospitals and get on with our lives, right....Saying that, I am sure all will work out fine for you, in the end.....
I too feel I shall be seeing the inside of a hospital pretty soon myself....

I think of all who are or have been dealing with medical issues, just need some post reading catching up to do, to know how you all, have been faring....

Jenny, if you see my post it is 12.30pm for you and 7.30am for me, so its a goodnight and a good morning to you.....

CHUCKLES
In a Dither

Our supply clerk at the factory was in a dither. A box had been left on the loading dock with this warning printed on it: "Danger! Do Not Touch!"

Management was called, and we were told to stay clear of the box until it could be analyzed. When the foreman arrived, he donned safety goggles and gloves, and then he carefully opened the box.

Inside were 25 signs that read: "Danger! Do Not Touch!"

Food For Thought

Dandelions
(Author unknown)

No matter how carefully I try to pull one out, I never get the whole thing. The root stays deep in the ground, threatening to grow and blossom again. But despite their bad reputation, dandelions are pretty little flowers with their yellow strands all tucked neatly into the center. And truly they are the most beautiful of all flowers when presented clutched in a child's dirty little hand. No one gets yelled at for picking them. Perhaps they grow only to be used and enjoyed by children.

Dandelions are ignored or attacked, never nurtured or cared for, and yet they always bloom profusely. They demand no pampering or special attention to yield their bright blossoms; they pop up in fields, in lawns, and between cracks in the sidewalk, even in the best neighborhoods.

Can you imagine trying to grow them in a garden? They'd sneak through the boundaries and pop their sunny yellow faces up in the surrounding lawn. They would never stay put.

Christians should be more like dandelions. Our sunny yellow faces should be a reminder that simple faith has deep roots that are impossible to dislodge. Our vast number would show the world that even though we are not fancy or pampered, we are evident everywhere, even in the best neighborhoods. We should be as easily accessible as a dandelion. Jesus is. We need to get out of our gardens and jump across the boundaries that keep us where people expect to find us. We need to show our sunny yellow faces in all the spots that need a little brightening - the crack in the sidewalk or the lawn of a country club.

"Dear Lord, may the wind of Your Spirit scatter us to become effective for You wherever we are planted. In Jesus' Name, AMEN!"

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." - 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

G'morning all and Lloyd, Lloyd, not seen you for a couple of days, no sign of Alf either, could be an attack of the 'Gremlins' ? :coolsmiley:
I'll keep an eye open for you if I am at home, if the sun is out I sometimes get a chance to get out for a hour or two, so just leave a massage and i'll pick it up later in the day, ....
                                                                   Cheers.   Roley.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's warmer here today but supposed to rain most of the day.  I don't mind that.  We can always use it in the Spring but the doggies don't like to go out in the rain.  I have to force them off the porch and then stand guard until they take care of business.

Today, my plan is to finish the laundry between running a few errands.  Tomorrow, I go back to the dr. who will (hopefully) tell me that I can take off the clunky shoe.  I'll probably have to shop for some wider shoes to wear because I've tried every shoe I own and because of a toe that is out of line and some extra girth on the top of my foot, nothing fits.  I held off trying my "wedding" shoes because I don't want to find out that they don't fit.

I wish you all a pleasant day full of the love of those you love!

Good morning, Kelly.

Amy--Good morning.  Aren't you getting tired of dates with the snowblower?:)  Glad you got home safely yesterday.

Good morning, roley.  It's nice that you can get out if the sun is out.

Janie--Good morning.  Sure hope the doctor lets you get rid of that chunky shoe and when the time comes, I hope the wedding shoes fit.

It is a rainy morning here, too.  A little warmer than yesterday but because of the damp it feels chilly.

I'm sorry to read of the medical problems that some of you are facing.  I'm keeping you in my prayers that all will be taken care of soon.

Grocery shopping today.....gosh, didn't I just do that!  That chore seems to come around pretty quickly.

Take it easy and get/stay well, everyone.

Hi everyone.  While the household is arising this morning I have a couple of minutes to stop by and say good morning, or good afternoon, whichever is appropriate.  My sister and brother-in-law arrived before we were expecting them.  We had gone out to a late lunch after 2 pm as my sister had indicated they would not be here for the evening meal.  They called just as we were leaving the restaurant and still had to make a trip to the supermarket saying they were near our house but their GPS had quit working and needed a few instructions.  I told them how to find the house and that we would be awhile before we got home.  I called Scott and he went on out to the house so they could get in but in the meantime I had told them of the Greenway walking trail that has access from our cul-de-sac and they are both walker so took advantage of the time to have a nice walk and by the time they got back Scott was here.  They didn´t want dinner as had eaten a very late mid-afternoon lunch so we all ended up having some homemade pound cake with fresh strawberries and a scoop of ice cream.  We had a nice evening of visiting.  We have no fixed schedule for the next two days other than staying away from Augusta due to the MasterÅ› traffic.  We will likely go to Ruby TuesdayÅ› for a late lunch today and then have a light supper.  They will be with us until Saturday morning.

I was able to read all of the postings from my phone this morning before arising.  Just glad to see all of the postings and hope all have a good day.  We had some heavy rain during the night but it is bright and sunny this morning and will get into the mid-70Å› this afternoon so should be a very nice day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Phyllis.  It sure does seem like grocery shopping day comes around very quickly.

Kelly--My housekeepers come Saturday, so the do that chore for me.

Larry--I think your evening meal sounded perfect.  I LOVE strawberries.  Enjoy you sister and BIL's visit.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, much warmer than yesterday but it is raining again.

JOAN  with the rain again this morning I twill have hot cereal. I think I missed something yesterday. This is Thursday morning and I am just reading yesterday's posts?

JEANNE  how often have we all been told to back up our computers? Glad S&F is being backed up all the time now.  Gee I think I need new glasses. I sure am making spelling mistakes this morning. I type in Open Office and as soon as I make a mistake I get a red line under the word.

CALLIE  your yard is going to be beautiful when everything starts blooming.

CAROL  still the same old me. What a difference in a picture that was taken several years after that other one. No fun when your back acts up. I know.

JUNE  hope you feel much better today.

JUNEE  yesterday it started at 18° and this morning it is almost 50°. Big difference in 24 hours. Crazy weather.

HAL  you are right, when we were younger and healthy we thought we would always have our good health. Rude awakening when our bodies start giving us trouble for the abuse it got for years. So sorry about your brother's DIL.

JOAN  ahh pancakes, love them. I like Dandelions, different way of looking at them.

AMY  the snow we had a few days ago is almost gone with today's rain but we might get more on Saturday.

Have a good day.

Kelly--"Whatever floats your boat".

Good morning, Gloria.  Maybe because the site was "down" for a bit yesterday, you just got to read yesterday's posts.  I ate pancakes when I was little when my mother made them--because there was no "cafeteria style" menu in our house.  I didn't like them then, and I still don't like them.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

phyllis

No cafeteria in my parents' house and not in my house either!  If they didn't like what was on the table they would have to go hungry.  I had to bite my tongue a dozen times when visiting my son and dil.  If the main meal wasn't to their liking special dishes were cooked for my two grandsons even if it meant that mom and dad's meal went cold.  Just a tad too indulgent for me.

JaneS

No cafeteria when I was growing up.  The depression was just ending and WWII was beginning.  My grandfather made breakfast and it was often pancakes because they would stretch.  I didn't like them then and I don't now but I never said so.  I ate them and was glad to have something filling.

Now cafeteria at my house of that of my kids....until Kiran came along and that's a DIL.  Can't fight it.  Sore tongue too, Phyllis.  The only exception I ever saw was a peeled whole carrot in my grandson's dish when the rest of us had salad.  He gagged on salad dressing and it was for real.

Guess I better get moving.  The dryer buzzed and that means the washer needs attention, too.  And I'm going to get caught in my jammies pretty soon.  Off to tend to "stuff".

Good mid morning.

Lloyd

Thumbs up.Open-mouthed smile..

I remember the corned beef of my Childhood,
And the bread that we cut with a knife,
When the Children helped with the housework,
And the men went to work not the wife.
The cheese never needed a fridge,
And the bread was so crusty and hot,
The Children were seldom unhappy,
And the Wife was content with her lot.

I remember the milk from the bottle,
With the yummy cream on the top,
Our dinner came hot from the oven,
And not from a freezer; or shop.
The kids were a lot more contented,
They didn't need money for kicks,
Just a game with their friends in the road,
And sometimes the Saturday flicks.
I remember the shop on the corner,
Where biscuits for pennies were sold
Do you think I'm a bit too nostalgic?
Or is it....I'm just getting Old?
Bathing was done in a wash tub,
With plenty of rich foamy suds
But the ironing seemed never ending
As Mum pressed everyone's 'duds'.
I remember the slap on my backside,
And the taste of soap if I swore
Anorexia and diets weren't heard of
And we hadn't much choice what we wore.
Do you think that bruised our ego?
Or our initiative was destroyed?
We ate what was put on the table
And I think life was better enjoyed.

Good poem, Lloyd.  The old days and old ways weren't necessarily bad.....IMO. :coolsmiley:

Phyllis--It was exactly the same way in our house when I was growing up.  When my oldest daughter's children were little, she used to take orders for what they wanted to eat.   I had to zip my mouth.

Janie--Sounds like things were the same for meals for several of us when we were growing up.  That's two of us that don't like pancakes.

Lloyd--Good morning.  I like that poem.

were now that I am blessed with the way

Another twist on finishing what's left on your plate: first of all, no dessert, second, what was left on your plate was reheated and served at your next meal.

JeanneP

After 3 days of stormy weather so far today dry. So Into the shower fast. out to get done what needed doing all week.  First the Eye doctor. for a check up. Mail package sending back a tablet to QVC. I didn't like it. Pick up Laundry, get groceries. Library.  Lets just hope can get that all in before the rains start again .This they say will be happening later today.

I to am going to looking in getting something to wear just in case of emergencies. I don't have anyone living close anymore.  Both big hospitals are within 5 min. from me. That makes me feel secure and with the button I am sure will feel even more.
Think will call Medical Alert and give them a try.  If any of you use that service, let me know

June Drabek

I was up early, showered, breakfasted, and now here. Also lined up some information for my new dentist, and printed it out.. just in case I have a memory failure when questioned...like my list of meds, ailments, etc.
I can talk so well on the computer, but face to face questions take more time for me to recall. Did the same for my new Dr. and she appreciated it.

Another point on food eating..there wasn't much to argue about. It was on the plate, it was what we had, we were hungry and we ate it. If we didn't like it, we were still left hungry. The only exception in my adult life, was I did fix special things for my husband that the rest of the family did not eat. That is the way his mother brought him up, and that's the way it was.

Looks like we are having an overcast day, possible showers tonight. Our gardener had been through with the mower already, so he is prepared. Our roses are all in bloom and what an array of color it is. Even blue roses and lavender ones. Unfortunately only a few have name tags. The "peace" is still my favorite.

Time to make my bed...I wonder why we say "make" my bed, I don't build it. I do "un-unwrestle" it, as I seem to sleep with a lot of wrestling around, and it looks like it when I get up. And then I will get on with day. I wish you Joy ! and Hugs !

JeanneP, the thing I wear for help is titled Lifeline. I don't know if it is just limited to where I live, or how it works...something for me to enquire about.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Sandy--How true!!

Radioman--I forgot the part about the no dessert.  That was the rule for us, too.  However, we didn't get what we left on our place warmed up for our next meal.

JeanneP--You sure have a lot to do when trying to avoid the rain.  I don't use Medical Alert.  I have Lifeline.

June--I always take lists to my doctor--otherwise I forget some of the questions I wanted to ask.  You use the same "alert" that I do.  However, you said yours was included in your rent.  I pay monthly for mine.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

JaneS

We didn't get ours warmed up for the next meal simply because we knew we had to eat it when it was served.

I think I told you all about the time I decided that I was simply not going to eat what was on my plate.  I didn't like it and I didn't want it.  My mother disagreed.  She said I had to sit there until I ate it.  Supper was around 6 and it was summer.  I sat there and listened to all the kids out playing after supper and when bedtime came my mother told me to get up from the table and go to bed.  YAY!  I outsmarted her....NOT!  Guess what was for breakfast the next day?  And NOT heated up!  I ate it!

Got my computer fixed, checked something at the bank that I didn't understand, got dog food, and a little cash!  I'm ready for the afternoon.  I have a dr. apt at 1:45

Enjoy your day!

Good asfternoon, and really pouring down, it has been a steady rain, since I got up.  first day it has been warm in the AM, since last Friday.

Lloyd, like your poem, sound like my life years ago. I also had to eat what was on my plate. Never learned to like cottage cheese til I was in my 40's. then it has to be covered in fruit.

Joan, this is a good day for pancakes.  From the time I got married, Cyriel also cooked pancakes every Sunday.  His son did the same.

Hal, so sorry to read about your brothers DIL. Sure hope you get good news from your doctor.  When I was in the hospital I went into renal failuer, they thought I would not make it, but here I am.

Sun, I used my panic botton (thats what I call it) last year, when I had my heart attack.

Amy, sorry to read that you have to get out with the snow again.  The weatherman said we may have snow Sunday.

Gloria, I am sure we are having the same weather, and I have to worry my DIL home, driving back to the Cape, from Tenn.

Well, I give up, I have tried to follow the directions for putting the weather thing in, but now I give up. Guess I am just a dummy.
