Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Bubble if I ever decided, just need an apartment size refrig. and small sink, have a hot plate
and microwave.  Really doubt I would ever do, want to sell to a young family like we were when we moved in.

Jeanne, sounds like we both are fortunate, like living alone and can drive to the park or daughters when I want.

Beverly, your winter photo looks just like what we used to have in the sixties. Now we rarely have enough snow as Jeanne says, not even close to the snows that Jack showed in his photo. The trees are bare, and we have early morning frost, but sunny skies and crisp fall days. We were almost guaranteed snow from September 23rd on but instead, the rain stopped and the sun came out. We are about forty degrees cooler, however.

Jack, you've shown those photos before, a very nice house!

Dad offered me and my sisters, our childhood home but no takers. One sister helped to build her own, another moved south and I didn't want to return to where my daughter was so ill before she died. So, he sold it.

JeanneP, living in a condo like mine is like living in a house but without outside work.  Being close to your neighbors depends on the neighbors and you.  I used to say I did not want to move because I had such good neighbors.  We did not go back and forth, but visited in the good weather months.  Then my neighbors left; actually one couple died a year apart and the other one went to TN when her son and granddaughter moved there.  Both present neighbors work and I wouldn't know one if I met her on the street.  The other works night shift so see her very seldom.  I would like more room, but I really am where I should be!

Five month old "Fi",
teething on some celery...  (at lunch today)..
Growing like a weed!  What  a joy!

The sweater that she is wearing
was hand made by the Grand Mother of an
exchange student named Erhan, who came
to live with my daughters family for a year
as and exchange student from Switzerland.

His Grand Mother lives in Turkey.

Sandy. She is so cute.  I don't have any little ones anymore.  They came. Bang,Bang but now all growing up.  Goes fast.

Jack, it looks nice and comfortable.  We downsized into a smaller house which we really love.  Nice neighbors and quiet neighborhood and just a few blocks from our youngest daughter.  We've been told that there are plenty of kids (although we've only seen a few) so we got two big bags of candy to be ready for Halloween.  In Ocala we never had any kids come around as they all went to the mall for parties.

Sandy, what a precious little girl.  I wish our little great grands were closer.  Our family is spread out from East to West and even Canada.

Something a little more seasonal.....My son just e-mailed this picture of his back yard. The colors are changing and we left a few days too soon.  :(

I made it a little too wide so you have to scroll to see the whole picture. By the way, that teepee like structure is a bonfire waiting for some nice night!

jackwv

Beverly, lots of color.  Little early for us.   Was at the park tonight and just one photo of pretty blossoms on a potted plant.  Will let one of you identify.

Mary Ann

Jack, it is a hibiscus.  I've never seen one that color; beautiful.

Mary Ann

Sandy

Beautiful back yard,  Bev !!!
Riding lawnmower,  I presume !!

That hibiscus is lovely,  Jack!!

New England in the fall is extraordinary!!
But way too short.

Being outside today felt so good.
"Sweater weather" at it's best !

Beverly

Jack - That's a beautiful hibiscus.

Beverly

Sandy - I guess you could call it a riding mower!  ;) He has 10 acres, a lot of it wooded.

Sandy

Wow....

That sure does a beautiful job....
amazing,  from the size of it...
Does that bale hay  too and plow snow?
I am not familiar with farm equipment,
(obviously),  but that sure looks like it could
handle just about anything!

Beautiful flower Jack and very nice yard Beverly, that your son has!

Up to this past summer, we had been in a drought since 2003 and bonfires, and burn barrels have been a thing of the past. I would think that might have changed after this past summer with waters still running high and some flooding. I have heard, somewhere, tho, that it has to do with the snowfall in the mountains as to our coming out of the drought.

Beverly

Sandy - It's a full size tractor and does it all! He plows snow but doesn't need a hay baler.

Beverly, from your White River's resemblance to our Chena River to your snow covered photo of what resembles part of St. Mattew's Episcopal Church, there are so many similarities between Vermont and Alaska Did you know that FDR re- settled the majority of the Dust Bowl refugees here? We have hundreds of farms and farming exports as well as timber, fish, oil, and gold.

Shirley

I have been in & reading all the posts & admiring the photos but too tired to talk.  Still don't have all the stuff  put away from the RV..... taking back to back trips with uncertain weather (so have to take summer & winter clothes).... always too much food & everything else.  I am half asleep now & must shut down & go to bed.  We had a dozie of a storm earlier, some areas got hit hard with winds blowing trees over & fences down... power out & hail.  We didn't get the bad stuff so can sleep in peace, I hope.

Love all the photos, beautiful flowers, darling baby, gorgeous yard & equipment to care for it... and you have a homey type house, Jack, best to just live each day & enjoy until life makes the decision for you.

I am having computer problems so looking online at what is best for what I want to do.  My favorite brand (Toshiba) is in the middle of being sold so not recommended for buying with "warranty iffy".  Will think about it tomorrow.

Patricia, only regret is that I didn't get my trip to Alaska when I was young enough to stay a few years. I still think I would have been a good pioneer & loved the land.  I will check out the links later.  Thanks.

JeanneP, I have the same problem with nobody (of my old friends) in good enough shape to travel, none.... I would love to have a friend with their own RV to be able to meet places & enjoy sights & even share meals... but not be in the same RV.  I do like my own space.

Must check on cats & get some sleep.

jackwv

Beverly, would love to play with that toy (tractor)

Thanks all for telling me that was a Hibiscus.

Patricia viewed the three tours, beautiful area can understand why so many visit.

Shirley you wear me out with your work.  Get a good computer and relax.

Cooler weather today so some yard work (just a postage stamp size, do not need a tractor)

These were all taken the last of September and you can see the fog and mists rolling up and over the foothills. Now the trees have no leaves and it has turned crisp and sunny after a summer of soggy disdain!

angelface555

A few of Farrah, killing her felt mouse, getting food out of her toy tube and generally relaxing, even in some odd places...
