Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

....I dont know who is the luckiest....Mimi who has found you, or, you finding Mimi....she looks so perfect....

Joy

Jack, I, too, agree with everyone else.  I am so happy that you have a nice friend with Mimi.   She is just beautiful !  I sure you will become fast friends.  I can just imagine how quiet your house was, and I think you made a wise choice with Mimi.

Lots of good walks with your special new companion !!!

Great Christmas present to give to yourself Jack. I think we are getting that same smile back.
Enjoy the Thanksgiving.
Had to go out today and such a storm. Saw 2 accidents in 3 miles. So I am in the house until Friday.  Family to far away and daughter had her knee replaced Friday so tied down to her home also.

Jack, I join everyone else, to say how happy, I am to see you with MIMi, she is a beautiful dog. I know she will help you to feel happy again. i am like Patricia, when I lost Toby (cat) I said no more.  In three weeks I got Taffy and she makes my day.

Gloria and JeanneP thanks.  I wanted her to have the same food she had been eating.  You may recall I mentioned Chewy, the firm that sent flowers when I lost Jessie.  I went right back to them and placed an order yesterday, it was delivered today, Wow.

Shirley

I love the photo of Mimi and really like her name. One of my sister's friends was a Mimi & always thought it sounded like a happy name.  She really is pretty, already seeing a different personality than Jessie & Zoe (only Goldens I know personally).  That crop shows her face much better.  You did good, my friend!

Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it!  Son invited me over "because the new baby, parents & big sister will be there, and their son".... for brunch.  I didn't even remember it is Thanksgiving... we already did that~  I'm going to bed early, been sleepy all day.

Bubble that is terrible, and the possibility that some were arson.   Hope you and family are safe.

SCFSue

Bubble, I am so sorry.  Are there fires near you?  Please keep us informed.  I hope you will be safe and that other countries nearby will help extinguish the fires.

Sue (SCF Sue--I think our other Sue might be back now).

Lindancer

Bubble, just heard about the fires, I join with others hoping you are safe and sound.

The map of the "main" fire sites. The 5th from top is Haifa. The 3rd around the center are around Jerusalem

60,000 people were evacuated from Haifa alone. It will take at least 3 more days for them to be able to go back - if the rain finally comes

so_P_bubble

No fire near our town.  My cousin who is a new immigrant on two years was less lucky: she was evacuated when her apartment started to burn. Last news was that the roof crumbled on the two floors below.  They don't know what is true because there is no way to approach the place. Last month she brought cases from her old French house that was on sale. These were still packed.
Her 10y old son was in shock. he was evacuated from school. Dad came to collect him with the dog, the cat and the parrot in the car.  My cousin was at work elsewhere and the army evacuated her.
What a tragedy.

Shirley

Oh, my, Bubble, I just had shivers watching.  Is the wind caused by the fire or just a dry wind fueling the fires?  So sorry about your cousin & family.  Do they think it is arson because of the coming Christmas season & hopes of many tourists, by people wanting to ruin the economy?  The whole world is in sad shape but seems Israel has more than it's share of troubles.  Sincere sympathy and prayers for the whole country and especially for you and the people you love.

JeanneP

Bubble. It was showing the area of the fires on News here.  That is a lot of people to have to have to move out of Haifa alone. (My brother lived there for 2 years). was a beautiful city then. Suppose much larger now.
One doesn't think of Israel have problems like Arson. (Big over here out West). But suppose now there are trouble makers everywhere.  Just hope they find who did it.

Now did anyone, besides me watch the Big dog show today? Such beautiful dogs. Jack there was a different name of a breed of Golden in the show. smaller than yours and seem to not have the same amount of hair. Can't think what the name was.  Reason I wanted to make sure to watch is that a person I know in town had her dog in it. Has been in many and came in first in breed in past 8 shows all over the world. Came in First today also. It is a Pekinese. A beauty. Now   A greyhound took first in show.  I think the show was coming from Philly.
JeanneP

JeanneP I did not watch, I was watching football and had my number 1 at my side

Wonder if it was a nova scotia duck tolling retriever that you saw, they are much smaller.

JeanneP

Jack.  That sound like it.  Looked just the same but legs looked shorter. at first I thought they had bred Smaller Golden Retriever.
So you have her watching Football already. Poor dog. Crazy game.
JeanneP

MaryTX

Jack, Mimi is gorgeous.  When we got Twisty many years ago, he was less than a year old and we were told he was a Golden.  Several years later, we were told by two different vets at different times that he was a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  They do look like a smaller Golden but they do have the Golden personality.

Today was the first time in years we missed the dog show.  Totally forgot it.

Hope y'all had a good Thanksgiving.

Mary

Jack,  I had the dog show on the TV, but was busy cooking and wasn't really watching,   However, I did here them mention the name of the dog that your son has.  By the time I got into where  I could see the TV,  it was gone.  I  think they were naming off the breeds for that particular category of dogs.  And, a friend who I saw yesterday,  said she didn't remember seeing any Golden Retrievers in the show.  And, I don' remember hearing any mention of the one that Mary and Jeanne mentioned
.
Glad you have a new companion to share the football games with.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving Day.

Bubble,  I hadn't heard anything about the fires in Israel.  I didn't watch any news yesterday and not so far, today, either.  Very sad situation, I am sure.  Sorry about your cousin and her family.  Glad you are in a safe place.

Have a good day.

Had a great Thanksgiving Day.  Daughter and son in law were here and he did most of the cooking (very good cook).  I watched the dog show.  The Leonberger didn't look as big as I thought but they mentioned the dog was young.

JeanneP

Did you see the little Pom that came in first of breed.  All that fur. Must cost this lady who owns it thousands to keep traveling around with it and the person who does the showing is one of the best in the country it said. It has won many awards and its father and grandfather prior did I heard.  I suppose they make money later by having them as Stud.

Had her to the park yesterday, a hit with all that met her, and the kids love her.   Wanted to show you two photos.  Got her the new green bed she is on, next to it the bed she will still use on occasion and the day bed she likes (even if I am on it)
She moves all around the house to sleep on the carpet, but today see she found a new spot on the sofa in my living room.  No problem with that, where ever she wants.

Great shots jack. Soon she will find a spot she will claim for her own. Looks like lots of choices . Now can she go off leach when at the park?  Seen the deer yet.? They seem to have known Jessie.
Is she smaller than Jessie was.did you say she was 4. So healthy looking.
Now  the dog show wil be shown again in tv today.starting at 7 pm here. I didn't see a reg. Golden in it. Just the other breed. Shorter.

JACK WV....
...well I must say, Mimi looks well at home, bless her..... :dog3:.....looks like she has settled in nicely....

Lindancer

Jack lovely pictures. Now we know who is going to be in control in your house.

My Taffy sleeps in my computer chair at night ( has a soft cushion) and all day, on my bed.

Mimi will be 8 on Jan 2nd, but in great condition and lots of energy.  Was out throwing a ball, but back in, she went to the day bed.  Think she is bored with football.

SCFSue

Well, Jack, I think you'll need to explain Mimi that you need that football exercise, too!  She's a beauty and she sure has settled in very well.  I know you are happy to have her with you.

Sue

FlaJean

Mimi looks quite at home.  She is a beauty and company, I'm sure.
