well the temp was in the mid 50's today but the wend ,do not no how strong' but bothered me by blowing my hood off and the lid open on my lunch box.
did not help my cold either. no matter I got in 6.25 hours before I gave up.
Good night and sweet dreams everyone. oh yes Amy I thought you were made
of sugar,spice and everything nice.

June Drabek

Lloyd, I hope you didn't over-do today. Six and half hours of bad weather is not what I would recommend when you have been in a sick bed recently. But you are evidently a stubborn old man, just as I am a stubborn old woman. It takes one to know one.

Amy and Janie, I pray you rest well this night along with all our other good friends here. I am about to close down too even though it is still early in Ca. I do want to check out a few more things on the computer, then it will be off to book and bed. Good night my dear ones, sleep well, and wake happy. God is watching over you. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Well, we are having our master bath re-done with a walk-in shower and new commode and floor.  Wife is excited and I think both of us will enjoy it.  More than I wanted to spend but you cant take it with you.

Off to bed God Bless everyone, sweet dreams and nite, nite

Woke up around 3.30, its now 4.15am and I am up and about, for the last half hour....dont want to be, but I am...

Not sure what weather to expect today, but it says rain, although the tv weather people are saying..." will we, or not, be seeing snow today, seems snow is forecast'ed for our area, we shall wait and see....if so, will be our first showing of snow this Winter....doubt it will be enough to do any damage...probably only a dusting...sure the rain will clear it away...

Denver

Good morning, JACKIE.

Not much new around here either.  We are having a lot of problems caused by the huge amounts of snow that we are getting in our mountains. Ski areas and roads being closed due to avalanches.  One county has 530% more than their average amount of snow.

Today we both had our eye examined.   All is well.  Bob will be getting new glasses, but I will continue to use my cheaters!  I am showing some signs of demacular degeneration.  The doctor seemed to be iffy if he thought the vitamins like Ocuvite actually help.  He said eating good green vegetables is the best.

It is late and I must get to bed.

Pleasant dreams to all.

CHUCKLES

In Every Blade of Grass

"Nature is a gift from God and every blade of grass is a sermon," a preacher told his summertime congregation.

The next day, the minister was mowing his lawn when a member of the church came along.

The parishioner stood and watched his pastor mow for a while. Then, nodding his head in approval, he said, "Way to go, Pastor, cut 'em short."

Food For Thought

"Need Washing.”
--Author Unknown

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Walmart.  She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout.. We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the Walmart. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, 'Mom let's run through the rain.'

           She said. 'What?' Mom asked.

'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated.

'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom
replied.

This young child waited a minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain..'

'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said.

'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.

'This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?'

'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ' If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ' '

The entire crowd stopped dead silent.. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain.. We all stood silently. No one left. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly.  Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD lets us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,' Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked.

They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did.
I ran. I got wet.  I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories every day.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

JaneS

Good Morning Joanie and Everyfriend who comes to join us today.  It's going to be a beautiful day today!  It's going to rain all day and wash my world.  I might even go out and "run in the rain".  I'm sure I'm one of those who "need washing" so I expect I'll get wet.

I'm not sure what I'm going to get into but I'm going to make a foray to WM to do a bit of "hunting and gathering".  If I get started in time, I'm going to begin collecting cards for all my family members who have birthdays between now and March 10.  That should keep me in the card aisle for a bit.

I might make a trip to the Amish store or I might wait and do that on Saturday if I decide not to travel.  I've been looking at the weather and next weekend actually looks better than this weekend.  I have to make a decision by Friday afternoon.  I feel kind of like a willow-the-wisp this week.

Enjoy your morning Everyfriend.

Good morning, Janie.  If you send me some rain, I will "run in the rain" with you.:)  I don't send as many cards as I used to, but I still go at the end of each month and buy all the cards I need for the next month.  I then come home and address them.  In the area where the stamp goes I write the date I need to mail each one.

Vanilla-Jackie

Good morning Everyfriends....

...been awake and up since 3.30ish, it is absolutely pouring down outside, but no sign of that snow....Seems rain is on the agenda for all today....

JaneS

JOANIE, that sounds like a good plan for the cards.  My plan was to address them but I'll also add the date for mailing.  Thanks for the idea.

JACKIE, it does sound like there is rain on the horizon for a lot of us today.  When I think that this might all be snow, I'm grateful for the rain.

I'm off to get dressed and get my day started.  Make it a good one.

Good Morning Everyone!

I am up and ready for bible study and a snack this morning.  I do envy those of you who are getting some rain.  Wish we could.  They say possible to get a scattering but no general rain.

June's rain is going to skirt us to the North and just possible for the "scattering".

Jackie, hope you find a nice soft place to get a nap today.

Janie, you are so organized and I am just the opposite it seems.

larryhanna

Hi everyone on a bit foggy morning but in the mid-50's.  For the second day in a row we are expecting 70 degrees this afternoon.  Not bad for mid-January.  I will be gone all morning with coffee and then going to the church to have some papers witnessed for the Living Will and related document after I drop my friend off for coffee.  I am preparing them for both South Carolina and Georgia since we live in South Carolina but the hospital and most of our doctors are across the river in Georgia. Then I will go back to the cafe for the rest of the hour for coffee and then take my friend back to his assisted living facility.  Then another trip downtown to the Church for the Wisdom group.  Finally on my way home I will stop at Aldi's for just a few items.  That will be it for today.  I shouldn't have to cook supper tonight as the we a rotisserie chicken and some leftovers in the refrigerator for dinner so can have a quiet afternoon and evening.

We had a good meal at the Wednesday night dinner at Church and then a very nice visit with Scott and Jennifer.  Jennifer was much more relaxed last evening than a week ago and is enjoying living with her dad.  We also see that Scott seems much happier so this seems to be a win all around.

Amy, do you do all of your home heating with wood?  I remember several years when growing up that we heated our small house with wood and one cast iron stove.  It sure put our good heat when you were close to it.

JaneS, nice of you to be so considerate of your co-workers who have a longer drive to work than you do.  Glad you experienced no problems with the roads.

June, glad to read that your leg wound is looking better.  We used to use coupons a lot but have gotten to the point that when we do want to use one we generally forget to present it, except for the dining out coupons.

Hal, I expect you are thought of this but be sure the commode is the taller of the handicapped ones.  My wife mentioned that we may have to replace one of ours that is designated handicapped but is the lower of the two handicapped heights.  We had the 17" one put in our other house and it was much better than the 15" ones in this house.  You all will enjoy your new bathroom.  Have you included grab bars in your new bathroom design?

Jackie, that is much too early to be up.  I hope you missed the snow and I see your morning posting about the heavy rain.  I hope you can stay in and dry today.

Jenny, it sounds like the ski areas are getting more than blessed with snow.  Maybe all of the snow will help the drought situation in your area.  Have you known about the macular degeneration before?  I hope you like green vegetables.

Joan, I thought about copying your humor for today and giving it to our pastor but then decided it might be taken the wrong way although would be a good humorous story for him to use in a sermon.  He always tries to get in a laugh or two while making his point.

JoanFL

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  I wish you could send some of that rain my way.

Janie--Putting the date in the corner works well.

Good morning, halkel.  We both are wishing for rain.

Larry--Good morning. You have a busy morning....am sure you'll be content to stay home this afternoon.  It's GREAT that Jennifer's coming to live with Scott is working out so well.

Joy

A good late morning to you, Joan, and all the other friends.

It is supposed to be up in the 60's here in my little corner of the world.  Kind of cloudy, tho, and looks a little windy.  I have no plans to go anywhere, but it still is nice to think it is a lot warmer than it has been.

My son came last evening and brought dinner with him.  Which was a nice treat.  Before he left, he went down and got my mail for me.  A while after he left, he called me and said he had forgotten to give me back my keys.

So, since he has to go right by my place on his way to work, he said he would drop them off. I told him I would go down to the door, and he could just stop for a minute and give them back.  He said it would be a little bit before 7 a.m.  So, I was up a little after 6, got myself dressed and went downstairs about 6:45.  He didn't get here until almost 7:30, so I had taken a magazine to look at while I waited.  Since I was up so early, when I got back to my place,  I had a nice nap in my recliner and didn't wake up until almost 10. So, I have just had a little breakfast and need to get back to what I have been doing all week.

I am slowing getting rid of a lot of things that  I don't use anymore.  Got another big load for my son to take to the thrift store on Sat.
Some clothes and several boxes of fabric and craft supplies.

Today, I want to clean my stove and replace the 4 drip pans for the rusted out ones.   I had ordered them from Amazon and they came yesterday. So, I will have a nice, almost new looking stove.  They do a yearly inspection at my place just to check and make sure everything works ok and that will be next Tuesday.  Everything will be back in place by then.  Just need to do a little bit of dusty and run the vacuum.  Joan, I guess I will be getting some demerits as I am sure you will consider all that "work".  Unfortunately, it has to be done once in a while.  LOL

Hope everyone has a good day.

Beverly

Good morning from bright and sunny Florida. Wish I could send some sunshine to all of you with snow, cold and rain.

Joan - I love the the story about "running through the rain".

Jenny - I started taking Preservision years ago for macular degeneration to slow the progression.  I was told the best green vegetable to eat is spinach.  Also be sure to wear sunglasses outside.

Jackie - You're right that wet MD is the most serious, but the dry also impairs your vision. Plus, dry can to turn to wet.  I have very poor vision in my left eye and the MD has also moved to the right one.

Hal - You will enjoy the new bathroom!

Larry - We installed the 17" ones in both bathrooms. I would like to have grab bars installed in the shower.

Lots to do today so I'd better get busy...........Have a good day everyone.

JoanFL

Beverly--My mother had MD in both eyes and so does my sister, so I know what you are experiencing.  I had grab bars installed in both bathrooms--well worth the cost, IMO.

Good Afternoon Everyone from the overcast but warmer rocky coast of Maine.

All is well here, except I was up much of the night
back and forth to the John....  guess I ate somethinging that I shouldn't.      Sure does take a lot out of me,  and I do miss having a good nights sleep.

Next week I start the process of replacing the dentures that I lost a few months ago.   I have decided that I must do this,  if only for aesthetic  reasons.     Kelly is going to go through  the process with me,  which I am not looking forward to.

Have a great day,  everyone...
(Tomorrow is Friday the 13th,  for all you who suffer from:

Have a great day,  everyone...

June Drabek

Good Morning dear hearts from a rainy Stanton, Ca. A gentle rain, but lots of it. Maintenance is out sweeping away the big puddles. I love it.

I am trying to make a decision. I have been getting spoiled in having my medications delivered and ordered...not having to worry about when to do what, just sit back and let others do my thinking. After all, at 92 I think it is time to hand over the reins to those younger minds.  So  I am deciding.

Nothing exciting happening out here. I plan to attend a program at 1:30 to discuss the various piers in Calif., and our experience with them. Should be interesting.

Hal, your new bathroom sounds great ! You have earned that money Hal, it is time to enjoy it.

My mind is wanting to take a short nap, it is not eager to be active this morning, so I will oblige it and go close my eyes for while.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning from a still snowing Interior! It surely must have broken our drought by now! Then Friday, Sandy you might be right about the paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia, because we are expected to drop to 40 below. This is the old style weather we haven't had since the early eighties, so we shall see.

Joy, that is exactly what I have been doing, even down to replacing the drip pans for the stove. I'm lucky that I'm able to take items down to the common room and utilize the giveaway table for someone else to use.

Joy, my biyearly was on December 22nd. and they whizz right through, say its clean and leave. I always feel a tiny bit miffed after crawling around the baseboards, and general extra care!

I also am back doing my PSP and Grammer lessons as they started again this week after the Christmas break so that I will be busy again!

I hope that everyone has just the type of day they want or need and that everything goes well! Enjoy your days!

JoanFL

June--It's sprinkling here, but not enough to do much good.  Only you can decide what you want to do about your medications.

Angelface--I've experienced cold weather, but certainly nothing close to -40°.  Friday the 13th doesn't scare me.:)

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

angelface555

Joan, the coldest weather I've experienced was minus 68. When I got to my office and started to unwrap, I heard laughter from my boss. He said he had no idea who it was until I was halfway through unwrapping after my long walk!  ;D

JaneS

Well, I made a decision.  I went to WM and got the things I needed including a new bucket.  I have no idea where my bucket went but it has disappeared.

Patricia, I think I might need one of those inspections periodically so I can get motivated to "crawl around the baseboard"  and all that stuff.  Even just plain vacuuming and dusting takes a major effort on my part.

I think I'll grab a few zzzs before it's time to go get TLH at the bus.  Continue what you've been doing and I'll check up on you after TLH goes home.
