Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Happy Valentines Day....CC

I just don't know how some people can take lots of prescriptions at a time.  For the burning and tingling. Still working on it.  First Dr. who was a Neurologist gave me a prescription for 3 times a day at 100 Mg.. Could find nothing. Next coctor did testing and tried PE.  But at least sent me to the MRI.  Looked at it and sent me to a Spine and pain who check the MRI.  He put me on the same Med as the first but stronger 300MG. along with another twice a day.
I took for a week and called. No way could I take that. Could not walk in a straight line. So dizzy. Didn't try to drive.  Called me today and told me to do the one med back to the 100 MG see if that help.  I swear, Dr. seem to know less now than  years ago. Just seen to hand out prescriptions.

I was reading here up in the Soda Shop forum. some were taking up to 18 pills a day.  Can't see how Stomachs can take that.
Will take that as to how they make me feel for another 2 weeks.  No pain, just aggravation from the tingle and heat at time.
I just don't have patience.  I think they should have figured it out by now.

Jeanne....my Dr gave me zeta...for cholosterol...even though I didn't want to take it....After starting the med...I started getting really really flushed..like I was burning with fever...I thought it was my B/P  causing it....I was tired..no energy..lost 3lbs.....I took the med 30 days...then decided to stop it and see if my symptoms went away....guess what..they did...after two days off the med....no more flushing,etc....so I'm sure that was side effects from that med....not taking anymore....Darlene

Darlene.  I have a hard time just taking a Aspirin. I am allergic to so many drugs that it is a good thing I never have had to take any.
I can really tell when I do.  Like now with these I am tired all the time. sort of depression sets in. Can't get into doing anything.  I haven't taken anything yet today and can tell the difference.  I will take the one he says after lunch and see how it does.
I don't think Doctors believe you when you tell them  the drugs making you feel bad. They are so fast on putting you on them for  Bone. Cholesterol. At times I think they just go ahead and write them as people age needed or not.  I could not take any of them. Some of my Dr. who were big on giving them have died.  I figured if they didn't take them themselves or took them they didn't help.  2 were in the 60s and hearts failed. Another got Alzheimer really early.

Jeanne, I take a lot of meds and supplements, but they don't seem to bother me.  What was the name of the med that made you so dizzy?  I agree that doctors are way too eager to write Rx's. I had to chuckle at your statement that your doctors either didn't take the meds or that they didn't work because they died young!   ;)

Darlene, I tried Zetia also, but it didn't help my cholesterol all that much, so I told him to forget it.  Expensive too!  Are you having kidney problems? I hope not.

Mary, sorry about your bridge cancellation but hope you had a nice lunch. Sounds like you had a good dinner with Margaret.  My fingernails and toenails were affected by the chemo and have caused them to curve in or out, as well as to split, etc.  Not fun. My toes are pretty weird now too. No pain from the procedure. Changed the bandage this morning after my shower. Looks okay.

Lori called and did a skype tour of her newly renovated loft condo in Chicago.  It is really nice. She did a wonderful job on it. She only hired the professionals when she had too--plumbers, electricians, cabinet installation men and floor men.   She did all the painting and baseboards and most if not all of the demo + caulking around all the woodwork etc.  She's a wonder. Doesn't get it from me!

I'm fixing John filet mignon for dinner tonight for Valentines and then he will take me out Sat.  Works for me.

Jane, hope you and your sis are having a good time.

Hi to Sue, Ginny, & Marilyn.   Sharon

jane

Marilyn...congrats on the solo.

We all have different medical conditions and tolerances so great variety in meds we probably take and need.  I take what my ARNP prescribes and it seems to be keeping me pretty healthy.

Sudden shift in temps here. It was so hot and humid when I walked up to the store for some colby-jack cheese for grilled cheese sandwichs to go with the soup I was serving for lunch.  1/2 block up the temp changed suddenly with a wind shift and it was so nice and cool.  Lots of dark clouds, but they've blown on out to sea.  My brother-in-law is playing golf with Ray's friends. Ray's had a cold/sinus infection since Fri and didn't feel up to it.  We did get him into a PA on Friday so he's feeling a lot better with the antibiotic now.

My sister and BIL leave tomorrow morning.  They're then going to Hilton Head for a month, but we're not going to try and visit.  It's too  much after being away from home for 3 months.  I'm looking forward to a quiet 2 weeks here to get rested up and ready to head for home.

Sharon. Name of the 2 drugs are Diclofenac for Inflammatory and Gabapentin for Nerve Damage. I have cut down on both. One was 3 aday 0n the Diclofenac Only taken one today and feel so different.

Your plans for Valentine. Best time to eat out is day after.

Good to check in and hear from everybody.  I had a "Sharon" night last night - slept hard until about 3, then was up from 3-5, and slept again for a little while.  Oh, well....I hope I do better tonight.  (You, too, Sharon!)

Jeanne, I'm one of those like jane - I take 7-8 prescription meds and some additional supplements, with no side effects that I've noticed.  I can definitely  tell when I don't take them, though.  Parts start to hurt, and I don't like that at all.  LOL

Lunch today was a lovely event at a local tea room put on by my financial advisor and her firm.  This was a group of about 20 of her clients - all widows, I assume.  A lovely lunch, and we were each presented with a long-stemmed red rose and a favor of Hershey's kisses and some fancy popcorn.  She does this every year, and we all look forward to it.  I went with two of my swimming buddies - they're the ones who recommended her to me.

Nothing on the docket for tomorrow, but Thursday is mani/pedi day.

Hope your Valentine's Day was a good one, Buddies.

Jeanne the Gabapentoin makes my son feel dizzy and groggy  all day too. I told him to talk to his Dr about cutting back on it.

Hi Buddies.  My weekend started out pretty well.  My neighbor's yard man came and cleaned off my roof and then took care of all the leaves.  While he was doing that I cleaned my oven.  When he finished  I came out to the den and started watching basketball.  About an hour into that, I had a very brief minute or 2 of completely blacking out.  I didn't realize I wasn't entirely awake.  Then I went online and realized I'd had a slight seizure.  After another hour I had a lengthy blackout--I called my neighbor Sandra, who came over and helped me call Tim.  He took me to the emergency room at the hospital and after about an hour there, I had another big seizure and was sent to the omitting emergency room.  I was placed in a bed, but not examined by a doctor until almost 9:00 p.m.  Finally got into a hospital room and managed to sleep through the night.  I stayed in the hospital Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights, and was finally released after lunch today.  I had an MRI, several tests on my head, and nothing was found from those tests.  I am thinking that the new medicine I've been taking might have been responsible. I will talk to my GP's nurse and have her call me with his opinion.

So pretty lousy weekend here.  I'm expecting Bill sometime tomorrow and Jon on Saturday or Sunday.  Both had planned to be here some time ago and may overlap a bit.  Bill's U. Softball team is playing in a tournament here later this week.  I'll probably not go to the games with him unless it gets warmer.

I'm pretty tired and am going to bed soon.  Sleep well, Buddies.
Sue

jane

Sue...glad you realized what happened and got Tim to get you to the ER.  You did indeed have a lousy weekend.

Very tired tonight...didn't get to sleep until 3:00 am...do dragging.

GinnyAnn

It must have been ER time for the Buddies.  I somehow landed on the floor last night and couldn't get up. We ended up calling 911. They took me to the ER. It was a relief that I wasn't admitted to the hospital. My left leg is sore and is preventing me from getting comfortable. Later today I will call my GP. Hurt all over.  :(

jane

Glad you didn't have to be admitted, GinnyAnn.  Hope you can get in to your MD and see if your doc has a clue what happened.

My sister and BIL have left and we now have just two weeks left before we also head north.  The time has passed quickly.

jane

maryz

Oh, dear - what a weekend.  I'm glad both of you, Sue and Ginny Ann, got to the ER quickly for treatment.  Sue, hooray for your realizing something was wrong and needed to be checked quickly.  They  always say that speed is of the essence in a possible stroke.  How scary for you both.  Glad nothing seems to be seriously wrong - at least on the surface.

jane, your time has gone so quickly.  And what a shame that some of it had to be spent worrying about next year.  Glad you've gotten it tended to, though.

Nothing on my schedule today.  I had a better-than-usual night.  I slept solidly until almost 5 - most unusual - and then slept again until almost 7.  Yea!

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!  And be especially careful.

Good morning....Ginny and Sue...glad you are ok...prayers sent. Not much on my agenda today..will check in later. Darlene

SharonE

Sue, what an awful experience. I'm glad you were able to get help and that there doesn't seem to be anything important wrong.  Do you wear a Life Alert button that you can push for help?  It sounds like it might be a good idea if not.  I know you will be glad to see your boys.

Ginny, I'm so sorry that you, too, ended up in the ER. Take care and do see your doctor.

Mary & Jane, Monday night must have been a designated "no sleep night". I was awake till after 3 also, but I did sleep well last night.

Jane, your winter has gone fast.  Enjoy your last 2 weeks.  Weather everywhere seems to have been on a roller coaster this year.  We had 80 degrees Sunday which set a record. Rained this morning. Got at least an inch ant the temp is down in the 50's again for a couple days but to be back in the 60's for the weekend.  Weird!  Our average Feb temp is 51 but we have been above that for most of the month.

Mary, your luncheon sounded nice.  What a nice thing for her to do, especially when most of her clients are widows.    When will you be back to swimming?

Jeanne, diclofenac is a mild pain reliever like Advil. I take 3 a day for my fibro pain. It certainly doesn't relieve all of it, but makes it bearable. I haven't taken the other med but it is the one most likely to cause trouble. Be sure to take the diclofenac with food to keep from upsetting your stomach.

My toe has caused me no problem at all!  Whoo Hoo!!  The psych clinic called me a while ago and I now have an appt on Mon for my first session.

John brought me home a bottle of wine and some Valentine cookies last night!  Unusual. We usually don't do that. I did fix him a good dinner though and the wine was nice with it.

Hi Darlene, Marilyn, and all.  Stay well everyone!!!!  Sharon

Marilyn

We went out for lunch for valentines day, Had a wonderful tasty  sandwich and some very decadent flourless chocolate cake  smothered in hot fudge sauce with whipped cream and a strawberry on the side.We shared that desert and all together my  meal was 849 calories. Yikes.

Raining here today suppoaed to be heavy rain later today.

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  Tim and Kris came over this morning to tell me they are going to Atlanta for a few days while Bill is here.  We had a nice visit, but short.  I'm glad they could get away for a while.  Tim has been a wonderful help, but sitting with me at the hospital 3 days was really wearing on him.  I just talked to Bill and he said he'd be here in about an hour, so I'm going to finish putting the meatloaf together and get it into the oven soon.

I have a follow up appointment with the neurologist at the hospital in a couple of weeks and also an appointment with my ENT which I know will be lengthy.  His waiting room is always very full--and last year he sent me down to the ?audiologist? for a lengthier hearing test.  I'll probably end up with a hearing aid this time, at least in my right ear.  I've been having ringing ears for more than a month.  That is VERY annoying!

I need to get my meatloaf into the oven, so will just say have a NICE rest of the day and evening.

Marilyn.  I just stopped taking both of the Prescriptions.Took the last one last night late and again And the Gabapentin this morning early. After about a hour same thing happened. Light headed and felt awful. No way could drive. So not taken anything all day Sort of cleared up by about 5pm. Feel o.k now.  I will keep off them for tomorrow and see what happens.  Seems like so many drugs now that make people sick.  Use to be not as many but every doctor seems to recommend a different one.  I will check with them Friday and tell them what I am doing.  I would rather have the Tingling than the awful way the pill act on me.

Sharon.  I have taken Advil once in awhile and for me just taking one took care of the problem I was having. Should maybe just take Ibiprophin for a couple of days and see what it does

Sue. Sorry to read you got a set back. You were doing so well.  Just rest up a little. Maybe doing to much.
JeanneP

JeanneP

I have stopped taking those prescriptions for past 2 days.  Can still feel it a little after drinking gallons of water to try and wash them out of system.  I think with be O.K to drive today.  Will call the Dr. again tomorrow and let them know.  I have a appointment with the last one Feb. 28th.  Going have a good talk with them as I have been passed to 4 different departments and type doctors.
Now the two big hospitals and clinics have taken over the city.  Only one private Dr.
with his own practice and he not well thought of.  From India and doesn't really specialize.  When I first came to area I had 5 different dr. in special fields . all great. 3 have died and 2 retired.  Can't compete . Health insurance really messed up the Medical field now. It is like the don't talk to each other. I will be shocked when I see the bills coming in next month. Still no changes

I picked up some cans of GUAVA nectar at Aldi yesterday.  Never heard of it before.
Say on Internet that it has highest VT c than any thing. It is so Good.  Very expensive on line but only 49 cents a can at Aldi.  Going to stock up  I never drink Soda other than once in awhile a 7 up or Ginger ale.

Jeanne what is guava? cc

Darlene, guava is a tropical fruit. I'm surprised that a Texas girl doesn't know about guava.  LOL

I have been sneezing and coughing and blowing, etc., all week. I don't feel good, but I don't think I feel bad enough for this to be a cold or the flu.  Our temperatures have been so warm that everything is blooming - daffodils, locust trees, flowering quince, pink magnolias - and the pollen count has been soaring.  It's been years since I had much trouble with allergies, but I think that's what's happening now.  In February!!!

Couldn't get in to see my family doc until next week  :tickedoff:  Ray has been helping me get around. We have a 'walking chair' that I have been using. I am not sure how I will get out of the house to get to the doctors.  :-[  We have so many stairs  :-\

maryz ~ Allergies are the pits.

Sue ~ Sure hope you are doing better.

maryz

So sorry for your difficulties, Ginny Ann.  With all your stairs, maybe it's time to start thinking about moving to a place with no stairs.  When we moved to Chattanooga 30+ years ago, that was my absolute for our house - all on one level.  LOL  Good luck.

SharonE

Jeanne, I hadn't read that about guava juice, but if it tastes good and is supposed to be full of Vitamins, go for it!

Mary, sorry you haven't been feeling up to par.  We are having lots of things blooming too. I take a zyrtek generic that helps me.  You might try it.  This has been a crazy winter.

Ginny, I can't believe your doctor wouldn't have worked you in when he heard it was a fall! I do hope you will be able to navigate the stairs to get out. I'm with Mary in thinking that maybe it's time to move to some place all on one level.  That was a major criteria for us when we retired.

Nothing much going on here. Sun is shining. Temp to be in the upper 60's today and tomorrow and 70's all next week!! Weird.

Hi to everyone.  Sharon

jane

GinnyAnn...hope you feel good enough to manage the steps to the doctor's.  I hope your "walking chair" is a walker with a seat if you need it.

Mary...hope the allergies give you a break soon.
