Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

What a crazy last 4 days. I was doing really good getting closets all cleaned out and gathering things I just wanted to get rid of. So 2 weeks ago in my nauborhood it was decided there would be a big yards sales. Sounded perfect for me. had 14 pr shoes never worn . dozens of T. shirts and tops. other clothing and few Electric things never use. Such a pile. Got all washed ironed ready to just put out on Patio from 8am to 4pm Today Sat. So tired from doing all that but happy. What happen. Friday Night Such a storm came .45 mile winds. Stayed storming until 1:30pm today Saturday . Had tables set up outside. Sale just could not be done. Stuck with all the stuff ready to go. So I just decided not coming back in the house. I put everything in my car and drove over at 4pm to a Charity shop a couple mile away. That sell to people for good price and part of their sales go to organizations they say. They were glad to have it all . Now got the place all cleared out again.  Came on and took a short nap.  Never again to try the Yard Sale way to go.
Looking out and looks like big storms coming again. Crazy weather

Only other thing I did was run the sweeper and sucked the charger cord from my IPad that was left in the floor outlet. Took over a hour to get that all unwrapped.

Also it got down to Friday morning to 42 deg. Furnace would not come one so had to call the company who came out and had to put a new Thermostat on. Never know if summer will come.

So that is my fun for the week.  Going to not do another thing for the next 2 days.

Good morning, Buddies.  I slept in this morning and skipped church.  So far I've done very little except read the Sunday paper.  I've just showered, shampooed, and re-dressed my wound.  I think another few days I can probably stop doing that.  No oozing or any redness, just a big lump where the pace maker was put in.

Jon is coming up tomorrow to take me to New Orleans.  We'll drive down on Tuesday and I'm not sure yet when I'll be coming back.  I'm going to call Stacie for details later today.

I'm planning more reading on my deck after lunch.  I finished rereading a Susan Elizabeth Phillips paper back last night.  Tim returned my library books on Friday as I'd finished reading them and we didn't know when I'd return from New Orleans.  The graduation ceremony is on Wednesday evening at the school.

Have a nice day, Buddies.  I'll probably be back here tomorrow sometime.
Sue

jane

Sue...Enjoy reading on your deck.  I love SEP's books, too.

It's not "be out on the deck" weather here again today.  47, drizzle and a very gusty wind.  I dug out my winter parka and a hat before heading out to fill my car with gas and stop at WalMart for groceries. They were very busy in the grocery part.  I suspect others, like us, didn't venture out Friday or Saturday in the miserable and constant wind and rain.

I have to take a dessert to the church tomorrow for a funeral diner, so I got some cookie mix and those are cooling now.

Today I'd hoped to walk...but not in this cold, wet, windy day.   Inside to watch Stanley Cup Playoffs...and catch the rerun of Meet the Press.

Stay safe, Buddies!

jane

JeanneP

We are having a cold day also. Only one window opened and now going to close it.
Got a good beef stew going and so will do like you Sue.  Just get to a book, eat and relax for the day.
Have a good trip down to NO. That should not take long for you.  I need to think of taking the train down again.  It is a overnight run for me.
JeanneP

SharonE

Hi Gals, we've had beautiful, but hot, weather here for the past week, however it is forecast to rain this afternoon and tomorrow. That means I'll have to drive to the airport in the rain. Grumble, grumble.  I feel for all of you who are still having winter weather.

Sue, sounds like you have things planned for your trip.  Hope it goes well. I know you'll enjoy being with the boys especially.

I overslept this morning, but by rushing, still made it to SS & church.  Found out our dear pew mates are moving to Orangeburg to a Methodist retirement center. So hate to see them go, but know that it is best for them. I think they are about 90.  I stopped at the grocery on the way home to get some fresh fruit for John when he gets home + a few other things I needed.  When I got home, my neighbor, Donna, called and said her husband might have had a TIA and she was taking him to the emergency room and would I take their dog for the afternoon.  So Bunny has a playmate, although she is ignoring him.  Babe, the other dog is having fun with her toys and exploring though.  They are about the same size although he is black and she is whitish.  Most dogs I wouldn't keep, but Babe is a sweet, quiet dog.

Jeanne, it's too bad the yard sale was rained out, but at least you got rid of everything.  I bet the charity was thrilled.

I made 5 meat loaves yesterday and did a load of laundry.  Need to go put the towels in now. Otherwise, relaxing today.  Sharon

GinnyAnn

Ray and I both love the meatloaves I make up. I've learned that most meatloaves vary from person to person.  We went out to dinner and then back to our friends home.  It was a fun and relaxing evening.
They will be heading to Canada soon.
Nothing on the calendar for today.  I'm  trying to get used to my new glasses. Not used to that, but...
Feeling like I'm having a fibro  day  :'(

maryz

Sue, glad you're getting to go to the graduation.  I know you'll enjoy being a part of the celebration.

Darlene, if you think it might be beneficial, certainly give the grief support group a try.  If you don't like it, you haven't lost anything.

Sharon, I hope you don't have to drive in the rain - never fun.

Sue, you've asked about my squirrel.  I think the only ones coming up now are this year's babies.  One comes early in the morning and again in the later afternoon.  When he gets up  on the deck railing, if I yell at him, he stops and looks at me.  Then if I say "get out of here", he jumps off into the nearby crepe myrtle, and watches for a while more.  If I get up and open the door, he runs off up the sidewalk.  It's gotten pretty funny - almost like I have him trained.  :2funny:

Sorry you're having a fibro day, Ginny Ann - guess you're getting the same weather as jane and Jeanne.  And you're right, meat loaf is like stew or soup - each one is unique to the cook.

Sorry that jane and Jeanne are having such cold, yucky weather.  We had an inch of rain overnight - with plenty of thunder.  I do love a good thunderstorm. I haven't left my apartment so far today.  My knee is still bothering me, and I want to baby it as much as possible.  I haven't decided about going to supper yet (don't want either of my menu choices in any case).  I might get them to send me down a chef salad. I don't know yet when I'll do about swimming in the morning.

SharonE

Ginny, so glad you are going to Canada. I know you have friends there and have enjoyed it a lot in the past.

Mary, I'm so sorry your new knee is causing you trouble. I hope it is for a brief time.  The train trip sounded pleasant anyway.

I took the dogs out while ago and now it's starting to rain.  Just realized it's supper time for them.  Bunny only plays with her plush balls but has a whole stack of toys. Babe has had fun pulling them out and squeaking them and trying them all out.  Well, better go feed them.  Sharon

JeanneP

The stew was good. Got 2 containers in the freezer now.  My make a meatloaf tomorrow if weather still cool.  Can put a loaf of bread in the oven at the same time If I put it to raise overnight.

I have tile still in the small bedroom that I don't use much and keep tossing things in there. Went to Menards today and picked up a 6ft x8ft. rug thinking I will just clean out the room and get it neat. Took a look at the room and never figured how to move the heavy twin bed and couple other things in order to put it down. Going to have to try and find someone needing a days work and get things put in order once and for all. Amazing how things can pile up.

Marilyn

Well today my back is still giving me  fits. On friday the dr. gave me a shot of Torodal () (lprophen on steroids) said it would last about 6 hours, it lasted for two days. the pain isn't as bad as it has been but I have a chiro appointment tomorrow morning.

I will take freckles to the groomer on my way to the gym tomorrow morning and pick her up in the afternoon.

jane

Marilyn...sorry the back isn't better after your chiro visits.

Another cold, wet, and gloomy Monday.  Laundry is half way finishing up, and I'm not going to do much else than maybe read and knit.  It's too cold and wet to do the windows, so that's a good excuse to avoid that chore!

Jane

SCFSue

Marilyn, I'm sorry about your back.  I hope you feel better soon.

Jane, it's drizzly and dreary here, too.  Not my favorite kind of day.

I've almost finished packing for my trip to New Orleans tomorrow.  Jon should get up here this afternoon late.  We'll leave here early tomorrow morning.  The graduation is on Wednesday night and Jon will bring me home on Thursday as Alex will finish his exams at Birmingham Southern.  He'll go up there, pick him up and they'll spend Thursday night here and go back to N.O. Friday a.m.

Have a good day, Buddies.
Sue

GinnyAnn

It is a grey day here in NE Ohio. I am in a lounger gown that is wonderfully colorful.   I have a load of Ray's 'darks' in the washer. Otherwise nothing else is going on.
Sue have a fun trip.

Marilyn

Well good morning everyone, I took Freckles to the groomer on the way to the gym. I told them not to use the dryer on her because she totally freaks our and atything that sounds like the vacuum or hair dryer. I also went to the Chiropractor and am all set for the time being. I have been doing laundry, one load folded and put away, one in the fryer, one is the washer and tweo more to go. Well one of them is my jeans that I don't wash with anything else or use any detergent on I use vinegar to wash them to keep the color. I also have a loaf of bread going in the machine that I will take out and fin ish in the oven. I don't like the hole the bpaddle leaves in the bottom of the loaf so I don't cook it in the machine.

Sue enjoy your trip to NO. I wish I could visit NO one day, maybe I can.

Ginny it is so good to see you posting again. We missed you.

SharonE

I thought I posted this morning but guess I didn't.  I did get to the airport without any rain but had to wait an hour because the plane was delayed in Chicago.  Par for the course I guess.

I'm having one of the meat loaves for dinner tonight. Yum. I hadn't made any for a long time.

I took a pain pill a few minutes ago as I was really hurting.  I did a load of towels yesterday and put in a load of undies after I got all John's dirty clothes. I'll do a good load tomorrow.

Our neighbor did not have a stroke but has some neurological problems they are going to check out. So glad it wasn't a stroke. They didn't get home till 9 PM. The ER was a zoo and someone died and Bill who is a counselor & pastor spent much of their waiting time trying to help the bereaved who were naturally so upset.  The dogs were good together.  Babe had a lot of fun bringing all Bunny's toys into the living room to me to throw for him. Bunny only plays with her plush balls for the most part.

John's trip was somewhat successful, but he will probably have to go up there again in a month or so.

He also has a tournament next week. I sure hope I can get along okay by myself after the surgery on Friday. I think I can. It's not like a replacement.

Sue, enjoy the graduation and both boys.

Marilyn, I hope you're feeling better now.

Mary, how is your knee?

Ginny, I hate dreary days too.

Jane, I'm waiting for a cloudy day to have Sandra wash my windows.

It looks like it is getting ready to start storming and I need to go to Frances'.  Bummer.
Sharon

I don't think I wrote yesterday - oops.  Anyhow, it's been like that around here.  Cooler and mostly cloudy with some rain showers.  My knee is still very painful.  I've been icing it, using my knee brace, and carrying a cane.  And I'm not a happy camper.  I called the orthopedist and I have an appointment Thursday morning.  I skipped swimming yesterday and just stayed in.  Today, I had some errands to run - including a trip to Walmart.  Of course, I ride in a cart, so that's not too bad.

My swimmer friend, Joyce, had a car accident yesterday - she hit a mailbox and a tree, and sustained a head injury.  She has had some TIAs, so something like that may have 'caused' the accident.  She was taken to the nearest hospital, then transferred downtown when the head injury was determined.  Today, she's being admitted with a 'brain bleed'.  Needless to say, we're all concerned about her.

I hope the Midwest spring has warmed up a little bit for you gals up there - and that it's not raining too much for Sharon and Sue. Take care of your back, Marilyn.  What did you decide to do about the grief counselling thing, Darlene?

I'm home from the dreaded semi annual dentist visit and $224.00 lighter in the wallet.  Everything is fine..."see you in 6 months"...but the Xrays and cleaning and fluride along the gum line take time, but it's over for 6 months!! :smitten:

The sun is trying to come out, but not doing a very good job of it!

I need to swiffer the kitchen floor and then call it a day.  It's Tuesday, so we're headed out to one of the golf clubs for Taco Tuesday tonight.

MaryZ..am going to go to the grief counseling...have been asked t be a leader...go to training..etc...not starting until August..so have time to  consider that option...Hi to every friend...CC

maryz

Darlene, I hope it all works well for you.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Mary, I'll be anxious to hear what the ortho tells you tomorrow. So sorry your knee hasn't gotten better. Also sorry to hear about your friend's accident. That is scary. Sounds like she shouldn't be driving any more.

Jane, hurray for a good dental checkup and 6 months to the next one.  I really don't mind mine except for the hit to the wallet. Hope you enjoyed Taco night. Sounds good.

Darlene, the grief counseling sounds like a good outlet for you. I hope it helps you as well as the others.

Marilyn, hope your back is better now.

I have a load of laundry in and have filled the hummer feeders and one other feeder.  I threw out all my mealy worms. Apparently, they had gone bad and the birds weren't touching them.  I need to replace one of my feeders too. I don't know why they make them so flimsy. The plastic is cracking on mine.  It'll last till I get to Lowes for another one, but still aggravated.

I didn't get much done yesterday. Stripped the beds and washed the sheets, folded clothes, made some hummer food, sent in my church article to the newspapers and that was about it.

Tomorrow, I have to go to the Ortho office for instruction on how to use a compression ice pack after surgery. Sounds different from what I had before, but guess that's to be expected in 13 yrs.  My surgery is at 4PM on Friday, but have to be there at 2:00.  I can eat breakfast at 6AM, clear liquids till 8:00 then nothing till after surgery.  One of our SS friends is bringing a complete dinner at 10:00 on Friday to be heated up when we want it.  Nice not to have to worry about it.

Hi to all.  Sharon

maryz

I went to coffee this morning (in the rain) to get to visit with my swim buddies.  Like Sharon, we think they'll probably tell my friend that she is not to drive anymore.  Good news is that she has been moved to a regular room.

Sharon, we do have fun with our birds.  My bluebirds returned, so I've start putting mealy worms back out.  They're voracious, and empty the small feeder twice a day.  Many of the families of various birds have fledged, and the babies are out and fumbling around.  The bluebirds have three babies - almost as big as the parents.  They come and sit around the feeder, waiting for a parent to pick up a morsel and put it in that gaping mouth - first one baby, then another.  A family of finches are hitting the other feeders.  One parent will be out with three babies following them from one perch to another, screeching to be fed.  It's quite a show.

Happy Hump Day, Buddies !

Marilyn

Today is Keith's birthday. I won a gift certificate for a local steak house so we will be going there for dinner tonight. At the gym I go to we have some little game each month and win prize, this month's is Bingo. I've won this certificate and also one to the Health food store that I;'ve already used.

All is well here, We are very blessed. Keith will be seeing the Urologist on the 6th. I have my Mammo on the 1st, Then Keith goes up to  the Oregon Health and Science University Casey eye Institute for  his eyes. The DMV has already asked him to turn in his drivers license until he can pass the eye and drivers test again. 9If he can) He has no peripheral vision and a cyst on something behind his eye. Optic nerve or retina we don't know), he will be seeing a Retina Specialist.

maryz

Happy Birthday, Keith!  Marilyn, glad you have the coupon to take him to dinner.     I hope all goes well with your doctor appointments.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Marilyn...hope you and K had a nice dinner at the steak house for his b'day.

Beautiful day here...sunny and warm and lovely!  We had to go to a neighboring town's hospital this am for Ray's blood draw.  We're not sure why we couldn't do it locally, as we always have.  We had a heck of a time finding the right door to go in and finally I found a custodian who gave me the directions I needed.

We came back to town, stopped for breakfast and then home.  We've been cleaning out our cars...floor mats were a mess after all the wet weather, so that's cleaned up now.

Laundry is in and Ray's making meat loaves this afternoon.  Tomorrow we're off to Iowa City again...for Ray's eyes this time.

It's to be a wet weekend here, but the campers are all rolling north this morning through town...to big state park just 10 miles or so north of us.  It's a lovely place to camp, I'm told.  [My idea of camping is a nice Hampton or Hilton Inn.  :2funny:]

jane

maryz

I'm with you on the camping, jane.  We had a trailer camper, but my requirement was "indoor plumbing" and a chair to sit in for reading at night.  Sitting around a campfire is not my idea of fun. John said we didn't "camp", we traveled dragging "Mary's other house" behind the truck.  ;D

Well, the knee replacement is fine - but my kneecap is cracked.  And, he says the "good" knee is really unstable now.  He wants me to continue wearing the knee brace, but he wants me back on the walker until he sees me in 3 weeks.  He might inject the knee then.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Oh Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about your knees. Did he do anything for the pain other than the brace today?  Yes, the birds are so much fun to watch. Especially nice for those of us who aren't too mobile.

Happy Birthday, Keith.  on the gift certificate.  I do hope they can help his eyes, etc.

Jane, you really have to do a lot of driving for all of the dr's appts, don't you.  I hope Ray's eye appt goes well.  I'm with you on the camping too.  I've never even done RV camping.  I have a niece whose husband is nuts about fly fishing, so they bought an RV and go out west for 4-6 months every summer. They even put in solar panels so they can go out in the wilderness.  I think Natalie gets kind of tired of it, but he loves it.

I went to the ortho for a 5 min. lesson on the ice compression thingy, they filled up with gas, went and got my toenails cut and painted and then did the grocery shopping. Just finished lunch and don't plan to do much else today other than a shower and wash my hair since I don't know when I will be able to again.  I report in at 2:15.

Nothing else happening here.  Sharon

Cottoncandy

Happy BD to your hubby Marlyin....Mary sorry about your knees....hope  ur pain gets controlled...I stepped out of my comfort zone today..and colored my hair..instead of the low lites...when I get tired of this...will cut it short and go with the grey......have a great weekend everyone..Darlene

maryz

Sharon, I'm just taking extra-strength acetaminophen and an occasional hydrocodone for the pain.  Seems to be doing okay for now.

Have fun with your new hair color, Darlene.  Several of my swim group have let their hair go gray or white and it just looks great on them.  Just be you, whatever color it is.  ;D

jane

Back to Iowa City today (140 or so miles roundtrip) for Ray's cornea check.

Yesterday I saw in the magazine part of our daily CR morning paper that there's a Chihuly exhibit in CR!  I've hoped to be able to get to one...and now I can.  We may go down tomorrow or Sunday afternoon to see the 70 or so pieces at the Czech-Slovac Museum.  Yeah!!

Jane

maryz

Lucky you, jane!  Chihuly is always fantastic.

Eye doctor this morning - all unchanged on that front.  At least something is under control.
