Hi maryz - Good to see you here!  (I just now saw your "mark" in Library Bookshelf, also.) :)
I hope all of our former TV viewers and posters will be joining us again soon.  I plan to send an email tonight to Tomereader, in case she doesn't know we're back.

Kelly

Hi Marilyn
Just letting you and other members I have fund this Television board.

Hello, and welcome back to Callie, phyllis and Kelly!  Let us hear about any of your recent TV favorites?

Most of our viewing has been Sharks Hockey, or catching up on Netflix with Longmire and House of Cards.  Both very good shows.

Hi Sandy

Or is that Dapphne :)

Marking my spot. I haven't been very active since my surgery with tv watching at a minimum. I even missed Downton Abbey final season.

Kelly

Hi Everyone
I needs new television :)

Kelly

Marilyne

I"m trying not to "binge watch" the newest season of House of Cards, but it's hard to resist.  I want to, but I also want to string it out as long as possible.  So far I've managed to control myself, and have only watched through episode #4.   Tonight #5, and Friday night, back to Longmire

I've heard that Game of Thrones returns in April, so that will be a new treat to look forward to.  Also Homeland should be returning soon as well.

Has anyone watched the HBO series Girls?  That's a good one to binge watch, because the episodes are only a half hour long.  I haven't seen any of the shows from this latest season at all, (started in January, and is now finished), so I also have that to look forward to.

JeanneP

Just marking my spot.  Don looks like he put a good new Avatar in.
I lost mine so have to figure out how I did it long time ago.
Not good at retaining things these day.

Has Gloria deAngel signed into S&F yet?  I hope she returns here to the Television discussion.  She and I were the two watchers of HGTV.  Does anyone else like any of those home and garden shows?  My favorites were Love It or List It, and [/i]Fixer Upper[/i], (The married couple from Waco, TX.) I still like them, but getting kinda tired of every house ending up the same after it's remodeled.   Also, I was sorry to see LoveIt/List It, move from their Canadian location in Toronto, to South Carolina. :(

We now are more devoted to House Hunters, Island Life, and Beach Front Bargain Hunt.  Anyone else  watch that channel?

I haven't looked to see what's on tonight?  If there are no good movies on TCM or the movie channels, we will continue on with the new season of House of CardsSo good!  As  mentioned before, we're still moving through 5 seasons of Longmire.  I think we're in the middle of the third season now.

phyllis

She is back on S&F but has changed her name to Lindancer (her spelling).  You might look her up in the Members list and send her a Personal Message telling here that  you would like to have her back here.

I have watched HGTV some but not as often as I used to.

is House of Cards based on a novel?  That name rings a bell.

phyllis

It is an adaptation of the BBC's mini-series of the same name and is based on the novel by Michael Dobbs.

I saw the British version many years ago on PBS.  Ian Richardson played the lead and was deliciously evil.  I have watched the Kevin Spacey version and it is well done, but I find that it depresses me so I space my viewing out into small doses.

I don't think I have ever looked at this discussion board, although I have been around for a long time.

I am a big TV watcher. I can always find something to watch.

I love the Hallmark channel and the Hallmark movie channel.  And, I like HGTV, also.  I used to love the Travel Channel, but they really don't show that many travel shows anymore.  I used to like the one that Samantha Brown did when she traveled all over the world showing so many interesting places.  Now they have a lot of food shows, and other shows, not that related to travel.  They used to do the "Best of" series.   Beaches, amusement parks, roller coasters, etc.

My TV goes pretty much at least 18-20 hours a day.  Sometimes, it is just for the noise.  I like CNN also.

I have the Game channel and like Family Feud and several others.

I like to watch the local news, also.  I usually will leave Jimmy Fallon on, after the local news, but don't really think he is all that funny. I miss David Letterman and Jay Leno.

Will try to remember to check back here from time to time.

Hi Phyllis
I prefer the original House of Cards.

Ian Richardson was superb and you have it right with deliciously evil.

Hi Joy
I think on average my TV is in about 3-4 hours a day.  Never on when company is in.

Kelly

Joy

Hi ! back to you, Kelly.

Since I don't  have much company, my  TV and computer are my entertainment.

But, I do agree, it is very rude to keep the TV on when you have company. Also, when I am talking on the phone, I hate to hear TV in the background.

I am not a fan of TV and watch maybe 1  or 2 hours a week, usually Discovery or National Geographic.
Of course when there are "hot" local news, it is different :(

Sandy

During the week,   i am still hooked on
"Soaps"...  Young and the Restless and
The Bold and the Beautiful.    And keep
a brief check up on General Hospital and
Days of our Lives.

I keep these on,  but usually they are
in the back ground,  while I  am playing
on my computer..

I never ever just sit and watch TV.
It is just there,  like an old friend,
keeping me company and while I w***
around the home and sit at my desk.

I also have the police scanner on,
as I mentioned before.

Never know when something cool
is going on in the city  that want
to be aware of.

So I am always up and checking
out my windows to the world to
see what's happen on the
"Street of Portland Maine,
in the Arts  District"...

Joy - Welcome to the TV discussion! :)  I hope you check in often, and let us know what you are watching or any shows that you liked or disliked.  I know many people who live alone, and always have their TV playing in the background - whether they're watching it or not.  My youngest daughter lives alone, and always turns her TV on as soon as she comes home from work.  She just likes the "company", and keeps her from getting lonely.

sandy - A big welcome to you too!  I meant to say something the other day when I saw you post in here.  So glad you have joined us.  I saw a post from you on another discussion, that you are also a big fan of House of Cards?  I've never seen the British version, so have no comparison.  I'll just say that I think Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are fabulous! :o  I can't get enough of the show, and trying hard not to "binge watch" the remaining shows from this new season.  I don't want it to be over for another year!

bubble - do you ever watch movies on your TV?  BEsides Netflix, we get the Comcast Premium Package, so we also have all the movie channels, and dozens of others that I haven't even looked at.

phyll - I agree that "Cards" can be depressing. You can't help wondering if the Washington political scene is anything like it is shown on this show. If so . . . . . very scary!

Kelly

Hi Joy
I cannot listen to a phone conversation if the television is in.

Kelly

Sandy

Thanks for the welcome Marilyn...

I have binge watched  "House of Cards" on
Netflix,   TWICE  so far.    And will probably
go through all four seasons one more time
before the next one come out.    (At least
season Four)  so I will be ready for the
next one.       :idiot2:

I can't help it,  I  just love it!

I also loved "Grace and Frankie"   and "BloodLine"..
both on Netflix.

I have wondered the same thing.  I think it is best that we don't really know.  Probably be even scarier!
