Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Mother Nature has it in for us. We have yesterday through next Tuesday for sunny weather. After that, the rest of the month shows rain. This week of sun will be the last until sometime in July...

One wag commented, at least it isn't snow. Someone else said don't say that too loudly.

jane

Patricia....we could use some of that rain here.

We've had a few drops here and there, but not enough to really penetrate the ground.  Meteorologist said we need a full day of rain, but that's not in the forecast.  Temps at least aren't in the 90s.

I had the CT scan with contrast yesterday and feel no energy today.  Luckily, that's ok.
I have nothing that needs doing.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Thanks, Mary. I knew you had Henry, and the 3 May babies but forgot the other one! Isn't it wonderful to have great grands now that the grands are all grown up. Our temps are bouncing all over the place. We had 5o last Sat, almost 90 Tues, back in low 80's now. Yes, somewhat encouraging news on Melanie, but a long road yet to go. John is still playing bridge for now, but probably not for much longer.

Jane, do you know the results of the CT scan yet?  Rest up!

Patricia, I'm glad you have sunshine now, but I couldn't handle so much rain. You must love AK to stay there with that climate.

No new news here. Sharon

patricia19

Sharon, this is not a normal climate! Since 2020, we've broken records for both winter and summer.

It's the reason fires, earthquakes, and storms all over the world have become more pervasive and worse.

jane

Hi, Sharon and Patricia and whoever is looking in.

Temps were suppose to be cooler, but they are edging up.

No report on CT scan.  Surgery is Thurs.

Have a good weekend,
Jane

Hi to everyone...Jane will be thinking of you...on surgery day...hoping for good news...I still having trouble with my blood pressure...I'm taking lorosatan...then Dr added bystolic 2:5mg...has been working good...but the bystolic is causing low pulse...56 most of time...so guess I will have to call in to the Dr...also it seems to cause extreme. Fatigue.... We are having hot temps this wk....so not ready for that...hi to all reading...stay well and safe

alpiner1

My husband took me to the ER on Monday with a bad cough .  I was admitted with a lung infection .  I was transferred by ambulance to another hospital because of my insurance . All the tests that were done at the first hospital had to be done again because the two hospitals aren't in the same network . I got to come home yesterday .

Darlene...hope you get the BP sorted out.  It seems like this has been a problem for you for a long time.

Alpiner....lung infection not good.  Glad you were well enough to be discharged.  Take it easy.

Still waiting for rain here....maybe this afternoon..

Sharon...Dr. Feronni himself called (usually not good news when the doc calls) Thursday later afternoon, but it was good news.  The scan showed NO issues with the kidneys, urethras(tubes...however it's spelled) and only with the colon which he said he'd take care of on Thursday.

More hot weather coming our way next week.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Tomereader1

As relates to "lung infection" I was reading earlier in the week there is a "new" virus, not Covid, not RSV, but it seems to be around a lot of places, and due to symptoms, it is very unpleasant!  Wish I could remember what it's called.  It has cold symptoms, fever, fatigue, and a serious cough.

alpiner1

I am still quite tired but coughing has lessened . I came home with two anti biotics , have finished one . I have a  back ache from coughing  .  I spent last night sleeping in an upholstered chair , breathing is difficult in bed even uisng an extra pillow .

jane

Alpiner...I'm sure you and your husband are keeping an eye on your cough and will go back to doctor if needed.  THat's nothing to fool around with.

Tomereader.....There's always yet another "something" floating around to get us, isn't there.

Take care and stay healthy,

jane

alpiner1

I have an appt. with my primary care dr. this week .  While in the hospital a blood test indicated my potassium was low  & blamed it on a water pill I take .  I haven't taken it since being in the hospital . I need to talk to the dr. about it , so my feet are swollen .

Cottoncandy

Hi buddies...just checking n..we are having very hot temps...and high humidity..very uncomfortable...so staying in mostly...ALPINER hope you have /had good results with your primary Dr....Jane yes it seems the Drs can't give me the right combination of meds to control my. Blood pressure...and one that doesn't give me terrible side effects..if you don't mind me asking...what med do you take....Hi to all looking in...stay coolcolor]

alpiner1

During the night my left leg swoll up more & I can barely walk .  DH gave me 3 ibuhprofen & I was able to go back to sleep .  I have to shuffle to walk & hang on to some thing .  I'm going to call my dr. this morning .

maryz

Keep us posted, alpiner!

Nice day here, and I got a much needed hair cut.  Niece is coming tomorrow afternoon, and will go with me to surgery on Thursday.  I'm anxious to get it over with...

jane

alpiner1

The dr.'s office called & the dr. said he would rather I didn't take any more of the water pills .

SharonE

Alpiner, so sorry to hear of your lung infection. Hope it heals soon.  Most doctors who prescribe Lasix on a daily basis also prescribe potassium pills. I don't take Lasix regularly, but have both L & P on hand to take if needed

Jane, glad to hear the good report on the kidneys. I hope the surgery went well yesterday. Thinking of you. Glad Patricia is there.

Nothing new here, except one of our dearest residents passed aWAY Sunday. We're having a memorial service this Sunday. I worked much of the afternoon yesterday doing the program for it.a

My hummers are constantly at my feeder. So much fun to watch.

Take care, everyone. Jane & Alpine, you're in my prayers.
Sharon

The surgery went well, and Dr. called me today.  He had the lab results, and it was cancer and an aggressive kind. However, the good news is it was superficial...it had not established roots down into the muscle!  After I heal, I will have weekly flushes for 6 weeks, He'll do checks often to see if anything reappears.  He didn't think I would need chemo or radiation.  The other good news is he will be coming up to our hospital's Speciality Clinic and can see me here from this fall onward.
I'm doing ok with the #$&@ catheter but have it only until the bladder heals from the scraping he did to get rid of the growths.

You'll understand if I'm able to post often for a while.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Stay safe.  Terrible heat...for us next week...90+ and no rain.

Jane

alpiner1

I'm on Lasix now , Only one a week for 5 weeks

Tomereader1

Jane so glad you a positive result from your surgery.  It will be nice to have the doctor near at the Specialty Clinic in the fall.  Better not to have to drive a long ways to get the healthcare you need.

maryz

jane, sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but treatment and prognosis sound encouraging.  Hang in there, Babe!

alpiner, interesting about the Lasix.  I got put on it after my last time in the hospital, and I had unpleasant side effects, and it didn't work all that well.  I stopped taking it, and put myself back on the diuretics I had been taking before.  PCP and cardiologist both agreed with my decision, so I take Bumetenide (sp?) and Spironolactone daily (except for days when I know I'm going to be away from "facilities on demand".  Good luck with yours.

We're getting into standard summer weather here - hot, hazy, humid, and a chance of afternoon thundershowers.  They call it the "phone-in forecast".  ;D

Good morning...herein Texas it's 100+ the next coming wk...my AC unit has not cut off it seems..Jane..sorry about your cancer news...but it does sound positive and it was found early...continue prayers for strength..Mary Z..sometimes the meds Dr prescribe just don't agree with us...Sharon do you just take OTC Potassium..and what strength...mine showed to be 3.7...on lab..which is border line low...but wasn't prescribed potassium....hope everyone has a good weekend....take care

jane

Saturday already!  It's been a bit cooler than Darlene's 100.

I'm doing fine...no pain at all...so a good sign.

Stay healthy and get those checkups.

Oh Jane! So happy to hear your surgery is over and you are doing well.  It sounds as though they do not expect you to have any bad problems with your diagnosis, either!  Hoorah!  Lovely to hear that!

I take Lasix, and Potassium that is a prescription.  I have been hospitalized twice for water around the heart.  I have congesstive heart failure.  The potassium is 20 MEQ, whatever that is.

Alpiner, you are in my thoughts.

SharonE

JANE so glad to hear the surgery went well and that it looks like you won't need chemo & radiation for it. Great that your Dr is moving closer.

Alpiner, my potassium is RX also. Ask him why he hasn't prescribed it with the Lasix and more of the Lasix if your leg is that swollen. I generally only have swollen feet if I'm traveling. Do you wear compression sox? That might be a good idea.

Mary Page, I have congestive heart failure too, but it is being held stable by my beta blocker-Propanolol. I used to take Coreg, but they switched me to this because it is supposed to help my tremor. Don't think it does though.

I went to church this AM, then lunch at the dining hall, then at 2:00 there was a memorial service for one of our residents. I made the program and had it printed. She was 98 and a lovely lady.

No other news here except that Brian & Lori & spouses are leaving for London Tues. They will only be there 2 or 3 days, then Lori & Doug are taking the chunnel to France for 9 days. I'm so glad for them, but envious too.

Take care everyone. You're all in my thoughts. Sharon

jane

Sherry.....what a wonderful trip for Lori and Doug.  I'm envious, too, but I think my traveling days are over.  I'm so glad Ray and I went when we were healthy.

Another hot one here, so I'm inside.  Maybe we'll get some much-needed rain in the next couple of days.

Nothing very exciting here, as you  can read.  Hope you're all doing OK.

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, just checking in to see how everyone is. I'm so glad you're doing well, Jane.

Alpiner, what did your primary have to say this wweek? Hope you're doing better.

We've had gobs of rain all week. Down to 40 % chance tomorrow and all clear for Sunday, thank goodness. Wish I could send some to Jane & Darlene.

I finished the July issue today and will proof Sunday so that it can get out the 1st.

We are thinking of moving into an apt from our villa. The cost would be so much less, but a lot less room. They jacked our rent up almost $1000 a month this year and not knowing how long we will live, we're afraid of running out of money. We're going to wait and see what John's eye dr says next Fri. before making a final decision. I don't really want to move. I love our villa, but we'll do what we must. Also, if we move now, we won't have to do it when one of us passes. John is convinced he will go soon, but I don't know why. Other than his eyes, he's fine.

I hope you all continue to improve. Hugs to you all. Sharon

Cottoncandy

Where is everybody? We had rain last night..almost 2inches...thankful for that...Sharon..I often think of moving to a small apt...I'm so tired of keeping up this big house...always something to fix...I had to go to the clinic this morning...was given AB for a UTI...so not feeling too good...this to will pass...hope everyone is doing ok and have a Happy [/. Fourth of July...I heard a few firecrackers going off last night....

MaryPage

I want to wish you all the happiest and most Glorious 4th.  This is my very favorite holiday, and yes, it beats out Christmas.  Love me my deep summer and giving 3 cheers for the Red, White & Blue!  Picnics and parades never wear out their special magic, and I feel so fortunate and blessed to be an American.  U.S.A.!  U.S.A.  HERE TO STAY, OUR U.S.A.!
