Here in southern California we have been having thunder storms & hot weather . It was 102 F today & along with the hot weather fires .  In 2003 the Cedar Fire came 100ft. from our home .  No electricity , the freezer thawed , the leakage ruined the floor & had to be replaced .

jane

Alpiner...I saw the fires on tv at noon. We're getting smoke from all the Canadian wildfires.
I can't image what it would be like to live so close and worry you'd lose it all.

No fires here, but temps are warming up again...more like July-August than Sept.

My doc visit to the hematologist went well.  He's pleased with my bloodwork. Next year I have to have an xray of all my bones to see if any indications of myeloma.  It's always some darn thing.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Hi Gals, I'm finally back. Weather has been in high 70"s, low 80's tor a while but we'll probably have another taste of summer soon. Weather is so changeable. here.
We recovered well from Covid and then last week got a UTI! Groan. Back on antibiotics. But don't feel bad now.

Brian was in town last week for work and we got to spend some time with him Tues & Thurs. He travels so much for his job and then next week he and his wife and her family are going to Europe for 10 days.  The week after he has to go to Australia for work. Lots of airtime!

I'm so glad to hear your good report, Jane. You're always in my prayers. Alpiner, I don't envy you your location, weather and fires. So scary. Darlene, your temps are awful too. I ho[e the hurricane rain, etc didn't cause any damage.

I have a Zoom appt with my neurosurgeon on Tues. He should tell me if I am approvedd for the brain treatment and when it will be. I will be so glad to have it and be able to type decently. Please ignore my typos.

Other than that, it's bridge, newsletter.bulletin, etc. Nothing exciting.

Stay well and cool everyone.  Sherry

Cottoncandy

Good morning Buddies...our weather has cooled off a little..hopefully October will be cooler...we usually get a norther around Halloween..I went to my daughters a few days..had a great time..she. Wants. Me. To come live with them...but long as I'm able..will. Stay. Here...I noticed on. Another forum..the. Comments. About. Shingles. Shot..I. Probably. Need to get that...I remember having bad case of. Chicken pox when young...Hi to Sharon..Mary..Jane and all others looking in...stay safe and good. Health

jane

Good to see Sherry and Darlene here.

Sherry: Fantastic you could see Brian!  Hope the UTI leaves you soon, too.

Darlene: I'm a big proponent for the Shingles vaccine.  Ray's uncle had shingles that were in his eyes and he had horrible pain.

I'm getting my flu shot on Tuesday and then will schedule the Covid booster for the next week.  Since I have to get all my shots in my right arm (because of the mastectomy I had), I don't want two at the same time.

I'm so looking forward to cooler fall weather.  They say tomorrow...I sure hope they're right.

Take care, Buddies...stay safe and healthy,

jane

jane

Wow...from a hot Sunday to 45 degrees this morning.  Trading shorts for long pants and a light sweatshirt.  It's so nice to be cool. ;D

Cottoncandy

Oh WOW Jane..our temp today was 96...BUT ..cooler mornings are in the forecast...I have to go for cat scan Friday..so in your prayer time..remember me...I have lost four pounds...so Dr ordering. Some. Test..my family has history of lung cancer...pray mine are clear...stay well and bee safe

Marilyne

Cottoncandy - I hope you've received the results of your cat scan, and that everything looks okay?  No sign of lung cancer!
Weight fluctuates a lot as we get older.  I have also lost four pounds over the Summer.  Maybe the cooler weather ahead, will be good for our appetite.

jane

Darlene...hope your scan was clear.

Still so hot and dry here.  I sure hope we get some rain soon and much cooler weather.

The horrible conditions in the SE is beyond belief.

jane

Cottoncandy

Good afternoon...I'm still using my cooling unit...so ready for fall...cooler temps...thanks for the prayers...my lung scan was clear...so. Blessed...hope all are well..I'm getting my flu shot next week..take care

jane

HURRAH on the clean scan, Darlene.  That is wonderful!

Even here in Iowa, I'm still having to use my AC on some days...like tomorrow when it can be 90.  That sure seems weird for October!  I'm hoping for fall weather soon.  Some leaves are falling somewhat but that's from no rain for weeks.  Others haven't begun to change yet.

Fall harvest is underway...beans about done and then corn.  Farmers want as many days of hot wind to dry the crops in the field so they don't have to pay for dryers.

The destruction in the Carolinas is beyond belief.

I've now had my flu and covid shot.  I need to make appts now for pneumonia new one and RSV.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi everyone.  I have news---NO TREMOR!!! I had my treatment Monday and all went well--and I can type now! That was one of my main complaints. I had to have a post MRI yesterday and will see my neurologist and my cardiologist next week and have a video appt with neurosurgeon before he signs off on me. The first wk in Nov, I have the big squeeze They were finally able to work me in.Then, I hope l'm done with doctors for a while.  I have to take the center's transport to the drs, but my brain procedure was outside the limits for them, so we had to Uber.

We were lucky with Helene. But the poor people on the western part of NC are in dire straits as you all know.  I'm worrying about Melanie in FL for this new hurricane. She thinks they will be fine, but I wish they had gone up to Tallahassee to their cousins who invited them.
Nothing else exciting going on. But certainly busy. We're to be in the 70's this week.  Nice. Trees are beginning to change color. My hummers must be starting to migrate. Haven't seen many.

I'm glad your scan was good, Darlene, and that Jane's blood reports are good. Take care everyone.  Sherry

Cottoncandy

Hi Buddies,,good to hear Jane and Sharon have also got good health reports..I'm planning on getting my flu shot next week along with any other that are needed...our nights are a little cooler..days still in

Cottoncandy

Well don't know what happened there..so will sign off..take care and be safe

Cottoncandy

jane

Hurrah, Sharon,   NO TREMORS!!  I know how much Ray hated dealing with those.  Did Melanie and Husband get out of FL before the hurricane hit?

Darlene...leaves are changing here, too, but while it's cool in the mornings...40s somedays...it warms to high 80s by afternoon.  UGH.

Alpiner...hope all is well in CA.

I've got the last of the vaccines schedule on Tuesday...the RSV.  Then I'm up to date.   :D

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Yea..the weather is lots cooler..especially the. Nights..I got my vaccines..so all good there..arm didn't even get sore..I'm. Thinking of cooking a pot. Of. Chicken and. Dumplings..and Maybe a peach cobbler...just. Finished switching summer clothes. Closet. To winter...hi to all reading..stay well and safe...

jane

Ahhhh....it's finally fall here and cooler...and even rain!  Windy as heck, but that's ok, too.  I'm obviously home from my WI trip....and home with Covid.  The friend who took me to the airport turned out to have covid, so guess who else got it.  Yep....me.  I'd never had it before and my last vaccine was 3+ weeks ago.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Jane, I had a light case of Covid each of the 2 times I had it, so hope you did too.

Melanie and Sangmin stayed in their home during both hurricanes, but had not problems other than a torn grill cover from the wind. My niece in Tampa was out west when it hit, but she said friends reported only a torn screen on their lanai.  We of course had no problem.

I have had multiple dr's appts + a dental appt we had to uber to. It was outside the limits of our transport service. Grrrr. I checked prices with 2 dentists near here and they were more expensive even including the Uber cost. We've been going to this dentist since 1009, so hate to leave her anyway.

Lovely temps here in the 70's mostly. The foliage is gorgeous.

I got my shots for flu, tetnus, and pneumonia. We still have to wait a while for the Covid since we had it in August. I need to ask my Dr if I need the RSV or not.

I'm having more trouble with my knees and lower legs now. Waiting on the PT's to get me scheduled for appts. Those are here in the center.  My Dr scheduled me for a barium swallow test and speech evaluation, because I keep getting things down the wrong tube when I'm eating or drinking. Not bad, but enough they want to check it out. Just what I need is more tests and drs.

Nothing else new here, except it's good to be able to type again.

Do you know how Mary Page is doing?

Stay healthy, all of you. Sherry[/size=4]/

I had Covid in July & was in the hospital for a couple of days .  I had to go back for a few days with a collapsed lung .  I am now on oxygen  24 / 7 . & tire very easily   I had 3 Covid shots . My doctor said no more because they can trigger other ailments .

Tomereader1

my daughter got her shingles shot on the 21st, and this morning she wakes up with Shingles.  All over.  Doc called in prescription, nearly $60, can't think of the name of it.
My doctor wants me to have Shingles vaccination, but I just haven't felt that great about it, especially since you have to have two.  Daughter tells me since I haave such good luck with other vaccines, I should go for it. But...I told her there's always the first time when you don't have good luck with a vaccine! LOL  I got my Flu shot last Thursday, and other than a sore spot on my arm, that was the only reaction I had.

Amy

How very kind of you, Patricia.  I am still alive, but hardly kicking.  Feeling my age big time.  Please remember me to everyone, & I will try to remember how to do Senior Net.  I am fallen back to just e-mails to family these days.

love & thanks with many memories & good wishes

I got the shingles shots several years ago. I knew two people who went blind from shingles. It is not anything to mess with. My mother had it, but not very bad fortunately.

Mary Page, I'm glad you're still around. Wishing you the best.

I'm going to pet sit a little Maltese next week for a lady here while she goes to a wedding in FL. I hope it goes well. She's an older dog and so not very active. The only thing I'm worrying about is taking her out several times a day. Wish me luck.

Alpiner, I'm sorry you have to be on oxygen 24/7. Not fun. I hated it when I was in the hospital. Fortunately, I don't need it now.

No other news here.  Take care everyone.  Sherry

What a few weeks!  Flew to Mpls to visit nephew and family...woman who took me to airport texted me that night she had covid.  And it turns out so did I...still dealing with the awful cough and being tired and no appetite.

Alpiner...good luck with the 24/7 oxygen.  I know it was a trial in a two story house to get all the tubing Ray needed and as much oxygen as he needed in those last weeks.

We've finally had rain and it was much needed.  More to come this weekend.  I'm trying to catch up on somethings here, but not much energy, as I said.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

alpiner1

Jane when I was in the hospital I had no appetite also . I blamed it on the food .  I was also very tired ,  I would fall asleep if I sat down & slept all night too .

Cottoncandy

Hi to everyone reading..it's finally cooling down some..but in the 80s. Today...Jane sorry you and others have been sick with Covid..didn't you have it already.?...my SIL has the. Shingles..her. Second time to have them..I don't go many places..sometimes watch church online...I saw where Jeanne was trying to. Post here..but having problems...take care and be safe..I hope Trump gets busy fixing things...I did vote for him...

jane

Welcome, Phillyfilly.  Am I correct you're from the Phila. PA area?

Darlene...I did not have covid before.  The woman who took me to the airport for my trip to Mpls texted me that night that she had it...and boy, in a day or so, I did as well.  I've had all my shots, but it still kicked me good.  I'm just now finally losing the cough.  And the fatigue hangs on, but I'm not sure that's all covid.  It doesn't take much these days to simply tire me out.

It's gotten pretty chilly here...in the lower 30s this morning, so I switched around more of my clothes...getting out the turtlenecks, cords, etc.  I also picked up a couple of sweatshirts yesterday in WalMart's men's dept.  I found they're comfy and less expensive than those in the women's dept.   :uglystupid2:

Nothing else going on around here.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Phillyfilly

Yes, I was born there.

A very foggy morning here and I've been hungry for eggs and bacon and hashbrowns, so I took self out to our only remaining "family" restaurant.  LOTS of other people were hungry for someone else's cooking too.  The place is pretty big and seating was almost filled.    Lots of men in for breakfast ---couple groups of 10-12.

I'm planning to run a load of clothes through the ol' machine.  And that's the sum total of my "duties" for today.  Nov. is half over, already.   :uglystupid2:  :crazy2:

Lots of colds and flu here the health alerts say.
