Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I took Fosamax for 5 years and decided that I didn't want to have the side effects so I stopped taking it, I don't take any kind of HRT either after taking Premarin for 30 years I stopped that too.

Well today is the Hospice class, we already went to the Health food store, I bought some Organic Shea butter to whip  up with my Organic Coconut oil and Frankincense Essential to make my face cream.

Ginnyann did you call the dentist to see if it was ok to come in  later.Pain is an emergency as far as I'm concerned. I definitely would not put up with the pain.

so_P_bubble

Marilyn, did you know the origin of that pill?

What is Premarin(e)?

Premarin® stands for Pregnant Mares' Urine (PREgnant MARes' urINe); PMU for short (we spell it both ways, with an "e", PREgnant MARes' urINE which is the older name used in Canada, and without -- which is the more popular recent spelling, and the one that is a U.S. registered trademark).

Premarin (including Prempro, Premphase, Prempac, and Premelle) is a drug made up of conjugated estrogens obtained from the urine of pregnant mares -- put out in many forms (pills, creams, injections, patches, vaginal rings) and is used to reduce the symptoms of menopause in women or women who have had a hysterectomy. It is also prescribed to nearly eliminate the risk of osteoporosis (the brittling of bones) and reduce the chance of heart disease in women over 50.

We're home and the car is unpacked, so that's a good thing.

Sharon...we went now since Ray couldn't do a long car drive this summer with his leg...and we'll be in TX for Christmas...going for 3 months this year...so got the trip in now. They'll come see us in Tx after the new year.

Beautiful day here...75 and clear and great for driving.

Jeanne....I waved to you as we went by C-U on 74!   ;D

Jane.  I thought I heard you Honk your horn.  Glad you are home again.

Marilyn.  You are more trusting than I when it comes to drugs. I won't take a Advil if I can put up with a little pain I get in my thumbs and wrists.  Get it from typing and using them to much also tore the tendons a long time ago. Now I do use some oils. Helps with sinus problems. Just warm and breath them up. Helps a lot.

Jane. Texas for 3 months this year. Long time.  Daughter really wants me to move there. Don't think will happen.  May pop down for a couple weeks . Maybe Thanksgiving time.  Been awhile since I have been in the area you go to. Still Padre Island is it.  Kids go there a lot

Since we don't have dental insurance anymore, we go to our county health department where you pay on a sliding scale. I agree that they should have addressed my pain issue.  :tickedoff: I am still in pain.  Today I have been sick with pain in my head and stomach  >:(  Also, I am a bit dizzy  >:( Since Tylenol doesn't work for me I am left with aspirin and Advil. Bayer Back and Body is my usual choice.  Can't remember what is in Advil.

Jane ~ It is good to see you are safely home.

So sorry for your problems, Ginny Ann.

jane, my other Iowa friends go for three months, too - January/March.  They usually leave about 2 January.

My sweet Sarah and her Carson (and various animals) are heading inland from Bluffton, SC (Hilton Head) tonight...going home for the duration.  I'm just glad they'll be safe.  Take care, MaryPage!

The macaroni arrived this afternoon, Mary.  I have put the 2 packages in the freezer for now.  Will let you know when I finally try them.  I have some other stuff I need to eat up first, so it may be a while.

maryz

MaryPage, I haven't gotten mine yet.  If they need to be in the freezer, I'm not sure how I'll manage that.  I'll find a way, of course.

Hi Buddies.  I've spent the day making a future appointment (Dexa scan).  My primary care physician, my Gyn, and my Oncologist have all reminded me I need to up date a full body scan.  They wanted me to come in today, but Tim had asked me to schedule appointments for Monday or Friday as he is more apt to be free to take me.  I can get my "Village Friends" to drive me to doctor appointments, but he likes to be present so he can hear what the doctors have to say.  Tomorrow morning I have a much needed haircut appointment at 11:00 and one of the Village Friends (a woman I've never met) will pick me up and take me to the appointment.  On Saturday I'm going to a plant sale to  pick up my pre-ordered pansies and violas at the Dean Road Rec Center.  I will also visit inside the R. C. as the Friends of the Library are holding their annual book sale at the same time.  My driver is a friend from church who volunteers and he was already planning to attend the book sale, so that worked out nicely.  I've probably mentioned that I paid an annual fee to Village Friends who provide volunteer drivers for those who are not able to drive.  I really appreciate it, but will be SO GLAD when I am able to start driving myself!

I can't remember how long I took Fosamax and know I took Tamoxifen longer that the 5 years.  I had no known side effects to either.  Right now I am taking Ferrex (iron supplement) Levothyroxine, a multi-vitamin and I'm on my last week of Xarelto.  My GP thinks I'll not need it any more.  Whoopee!

I hope all have had a good day.  I was busy watering house plants and watching the tree trimmers next door.  They are going to come back to trim some of my trees hanging over my roof and one large oak out by the street with some dead branches.  I think their fee is too much, but I've had other trimmers here who didn't do a great job and cost almost as much.

Have a nice evening.  I'm off to watch the evening news.

Yes Bubble I know what Premarin was made out of. It worked  for me after a hysterectomy at 34 yrs old becase My IUD  attached to my cervix and i  bled for over 30 days non stop, My IUD could only be removed by me having the hysterectomy and removing the cervix as well. My tubes and ovaries because infected. As time went on I would take it off and on then just stopped altogether.

jane

Overcast Wed here...good day to go out for lunch and play some contract bridge.

We went out for Taco Tues at the other golf course here and there were hundreds of kids there....BIG cross country track meet.  There must have been this whole area of the state....school buses and teams everywhere.  One guy said when they're gone, you'd never know they and their blankets and shade tents were there...that they all pick up after themselves!  Parents' cars lined the road along the course and they were parking on the driving range as well.  Nice to see kids of all sizes and ages and colors doing such a great team thing together.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, I took Premarin for about 15 yrs. I credit it with my BC.  I had a hysterectomy at 29 due to hemorrhaging after Brian's birth.

Jane, that's great that you will spend 3 months in TX. I know you enjoy it so much and IA winters aare so severe.  Glad you had nice weather for the drive. Hope you get good cards today.

Mary, I didn't know you had family in Bluffton.  It's good they are leaving as it looks like they may get smacked with lots of rain and wind.

Jeanne, you are very lucky not to have to take meds.

Sue, the Village Friends sound like such a wonderful group. I'm glad you are hooked up with them.  I haven't gotten my pansies yet. I'll probably wait until the 1st of NOv.  My flowers are still doing well in their pots.  I haven't bought any mums either. I would like to get some, but I will need John to plant them in the ground.

It's kind of overcast here. Not sure why. We aren't supposed to get any rain.

Not doing too much again today.  Slept in till 9:00.  Hi to all.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, my Sarah lives in Bluffton - she works for an attorney there.  And Paul and his lady are almost finished building a house in Charleston.  They've been evacuated, too.

jane, I loved hearing about the kids and their clean-up.  It's always nice to hear such good things about the young people.

I had a hysterectomy at 45, and was on plain estrogen (not Premarin) for a long time - until I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Needless to say, I stopped taking it.  Surprisingly, my tumor was not estrogen-driven, so I didn't take any of the post-surgery/radiation drugs.

I just did swimming this morning - nothing much else going on today.  I have an appointment with a new attorney tomorrow morning, to get my will and other documents re-written.  Such fun!

Hi to all my Buddies!  I haven't gotten dressed yet. At this point I probably won't. The gown that I am wearing is a lounger type that I often sleep in at night. My head hurts and I am a bit dizzy.

All in the line of the storm are in my prayers. Plus, of course, all the Buddies.

Good Afternoon to all looking in at Bosom Buddies.

jane

I got the booby prize at b idge today.  Only had one ha d with 13 HCP and didn't bid it.

Tonight the Congregational Church is having their Fall Supper, so we're going with friends.

It cleared off and turned into a beautiful day.  Farmers are harvesting lime crazy before rain expcted tomorrow.  I suppose many will run full tilt all night long.

Jane

Waking up to weather reports on Morning Joe, and feeling rather desperately sorry for folks along the coast.  Have a dear cousin in Mount Pleasant, which is near Charleston, and am wondering if they have left there.  Should call her sister here in Maryland and ask.  Cannot imagine the angst anyone would feel at evacuating and leaving behind such a beautiful home. Heartbreaking.  Heartbreaking for anyone leaving any place that has sheltered their life and belongings, looking back and wondering if anything at all will be there when they return.
Fairly quiet day here, but grey and overcast.  Don't know what we have in store, but it will NOT include a direct hit from Hurricane Matthew.  Debi stopped by night before last on her way home from school and picked up the hibiscus.  It now resides in her Florida room, where it will winter over.  If she can bear to let it go, it will come back to me in May.
I have filled out and sealed my ballot, but not actually voted it yet.  Chip has asked if he is to mail it, and I have replied that no, I want to mail it myself next time we go out.  He says that he understands perfectly.  I sort of feel that inserting it in that slot in the mailbox will make me feel I am casting my vote.
Have a lovely day, Buddies.  Hope you and all of your families emerge unscathed from the coming storms.

jane

Morning, Dear Friends!

I think Sharon and MaryPage are our only Dear Ones near Matthew....and so both are held in the LIGHT and hope only some rain lands on either of them.

It's dry and bright and clear here in the rural Midwest....and harvest of corn is in full swing.  Soybeans will be harvested when the corn is away at the coop, grain storage or storage on the farm.

I think we'll be doing our Thurs. trip to the city for a Sam's Club stop for paper products and then for some gift certificates I want for Christmas, etc.  and lunch at our favorite place there....Biaggi's Italian Restaurant.

Have a good Thurs.

Jane

The trip to the attorney was quick and easy.  When I made the appointment, the paralegal sent me an email with a form to get all the information they needed.  I filled that out and took it with me.  I also too, of course, the previous wills/documents.  It's a one-attorney office, in a small building,  and the attorney deals with "elder" related issues - so it was just what I was looking for.  My appointment was at 10:30, and I was back home at 11.  I had provided all the information, so we didn't have to go through a lot of that.  Anyhow, I liked the man, so I'm pleased with my morning.

Bridge after supper tonight, and that's the extent of my excitement for the day.

Good thoughts to all those in harm's way from Matthew.

The storm may hit hundreds of miles to my south, down the bay to Norfolk, and hours away to my east, across bay waters and across the Eastern Shore to Ocean City, but we are in no danger here of a direct hit.  Not to say we will have no wind and rain, with possible trees down, and so forth.  But no serious danger to body or property.

I did email my cousin here who is sister to the one in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and she quickly emailed me back and said her sister & her husband have left this morning to stay with friends in Durham, North Carolina (about 5 hours away) for the duration.  Have crossed THAT worry off my mind!

SharonE

Hi Gals, We are safe here. Only some rain and wind expected, nothing out of the ordinary.  My friends in HH Sun City have all had to evacuate. I hope it doesn't do extensive damage there--or anywhere for that matter.  One of the reasons I was glad to move up here near Charlotte was to get away from the hurricane threats.

Jane, it sounds like the farmers are having a good harvest time and that the weather is really cooperating.  I wouldn't be a farmer for anything with the need to be subject to the weather for a living.  Sorry you had bad cards, but I'm sure you enjoyed it anyway.  Enjoy your church supper. Those are always so good.

Mary, I'm glad things went well with the lawyer and that you liked him. That makes things so much easier.  We need to see a lawyer and see if anything needs updating on ours. Hope your cards tonight are good.

Hi Ginny. How are your teeth?  Have you ever gotten in?  I hope they are better and that your dizziness goes away.  Are you drinking enough water?  I read recently that dehydration can cause dizziness.

I just got back from the grocery, Ugh!  I also stopped at the clubhouse to return 4 books to the honor library and to pick up 4 more.  Also a stop at the ATM.

Mary Page, that's a good place for your hibiscus. Hope you get it back. Glad your cousin is safe.

It's sunny and 75 here! Whoo Hoo!   Happy Fall to all.  Sharon

My teeth are still bothering me  :(   I plan on seeing the dentist tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is open hours at the clinic. The plan is to be there early enough to be the first in the chair. There will probably be others, so who knows how soon I will get in.

We have had glorious weather today, so I got a chance to sit on the front deck for awhile.

I sure hope that all in line of the storm can get out safely.
Sharon so happy you are out of harm's way of the storm. Will some rain reach your area?

MaryPage

Well, it's Friday, and the 7th of October.  Whoosh, Time goes by so much faster these days!  Do you find it so, as well?
We have a dark day.  No sunshine.  No rain, either.
I stayed up late watching the hurricane news on TV and reading.
Will pretty much follow the same pattern today.  Lower Florida seems to have missed the more dire possibilities from Matthew.

MaryPage

The sun has come out!  It is not our brightest and best, but it IS the sun, and we are right glad to see it.  This week is the week Annapolis, Sailing Capital of The World, hosts the International Sailboat Show.  Here is our webcam, and it is not what you are USED to seeing.  Remember, be very patient with this one, and you WILL get there!

Ginny, we are having some light showers but nothing to shout about. Need more rain but don't want the deluge some areas are getting.   Glad you're going to get in to the dentist tomorrow.

MP, glad you have sun now. I hope the edges of Matthew don't mess up your sailboat show.

Nothing much going on here.  Sharon

maryz

Nothing but Matthew on the TV today. I hope all loved ones have evacuated safely.

Hi Buddies
I did get to the dentist this morning.  Ended up having 2 teeth extracted  :'( :'( Besides being tired
my mouth hurts.

Sure hope the storm doesn't hurt anyone here and everywhere.

Gotta take a nap now.

maryz

Get some good sleep, Ginny Ann.  I hope that takes care of your dental problems.

Hi Buddies.  I'm very worried about my sister Anne and hubby Richard.  They live in Atlantic Beach, FL, (East of Jacksonville) so are in the area which expects much of the flooding and lots of damage.  I called them yesterday morning when I realized how soon the monsoon rains and wind would get there--and had no answer and no message from them today.  Their residence is less than 5 blocks from the beach.  I'm sure they've left town as have most everyone else.  I hope Anne will call me soon.

Tim came over at noon today to take me to lunch and to Kroger.  He helped me with the shopping and put almost everything away when he brought me home.  He fixed my meds in my containers for the next 2 weeks.  After tomorrow I am off the Xarelto!  Hurray, hurray!

I've had a nice little rest on my bed with a new to me Grisham novel.  It's titled "Rogue Lawyer" and so far is pretty interesting.  The lawyer is a bit "shady" with interesting cases.  My Thursday bridge club brings recently read books to swap/read at home.  My friend Merilin was finished with this.  I'll return it to bridge club in two weeks, but I'll probably have it finished tomorrow.

I hope you've all had a good day and NO FLOODING or TORRENTIAL RAIN!  I hope we get a little rain here.  We haven't had any all summer and my azaleas may not survive.

Have a nice evening, Buddies--and hopefully a peaceful weekend with your favorite teams winning their games.
Sue

maryz

Sue, I hope your sister and BIL have safely evacuated.  Be sure to let us know when you hear from them.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

Thanks, Mary.  Still no news.  Anne probably doesn't have her cell phone with her and Richard's hearing is not good, so they might not try to call.  I think their retirement community may have bussed all the residents out as soon as they realized how heavy the storm was.

I'll check back in when I hear something.  Her son's family lives nearby and they are even closer to the beach than Anne and Richard.  I'm guessing they all joined the long line of vehicles going west.  The oldest grandson just graduated this summer from Florida State and I think they might have gone there.
