Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I went to the Chiropractor this morning so now by lower back it just dandy. It was the usual SI joint that had slipped out and easy to put it back. He gave me a couple of exercises to do to see if that will strengthen the muscles  in my lower back. I do  s0ome stretching exercise at the gym that is to strengthen the lower back too.

Freckles and I have the Children's hour at the Library this afternoon along with 3 more teams. This is always a fun  time when the kids read to the dogs.

maryz

Marilyn, glad your chiropractor is able to get you such good relief.

Sharon, hope the new adjustment works for you.

I went back to see about Ray's appointment and lost the rest of my post.  I hope all goes well tomorrow, Jane.

Mary, you and your girls had lots of fun--and that's a great Mother's Day for all of you.

Marilyn, glad your adjustment went well.

I can't remember what else I said, so please forgive my forgetfulness.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.

Sue...it's just a wisdom tooth he has to have out.  I worry because of how much he bleeds from the slightest cut, skin abrasion, etc.

Lots of thunder and rain....looks like an all day thing...and an hour and half each way drive in t'storms.   :(

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  I was up at the crack of dawn with Bill.  He showered, pack his truck, ate some breakfast and was out of here by 6:30.  He plans to drive all the way home today--will stop at a Crackle Barrel in Nashville for a big lunch and will be home in time for dinner, I think.  We had a good time, but I'm tired.  He does like to get out and about while he's here.

I've just finished reading a Robert B. Parker mystery and will start something else after lunch.  I think I heard my mail lady a bit ago and will check that out before I fix lunch.

I hope you're having nice weather--it is another brilliant sunny day here and not too hot yet.  I've been sitting out on my deck in the shade and reading while waiting for towels to dry and put away.

Have a nice day every Buddy.
Sue

JeanneP

I really do have to get some help with housecleaning. Got ahead of me over the winter. Have gotten both the bedrooms done other that waxing down the wall. I can't do that anymore.  Will check around next week again.
Still in the 80s here but very windy. Trying to put the house in order but took a break. I just watched the movie. "A Man Called OVE" what a great one. I am still on the library list for the book. It can't beat the movie.  I don't care much for Subtitles. )This is Swedish. But after 10 min. you don't even notice. Yes. you do get a few tears every so often.  Now back to the sweeper.

Jane. Does you husband take that one pill that lots seem to be on. A blood thinner but cant think of the name. I here of many who have a hard time with bleeding after having teeth pulled. I am sure they have something people take now before going.  Not many people still have wisdom teeth at his age. I think i had mine taken out in my 40s. I know 3 but don't think I ever got the bottom left side to come in. Don't they say that one gets smarter after Wisdom teeth gone.
I wonder why they do call them Wisdom Teeth.  Google may know.
JeanneP

jane

Jeanne...he takes a "baby" aspirin every day, but he stopped those.  He's on a lot of other meds and he bruises very easily and bleeds profusely from any cut.  He seemed to get along ok.  They got it out quickly and we were on our way home 45 minutes after he checked in!

We're having a lot of storms rambling through quite quickly.  It's nice and dry and then kaboom, the dark clouds roll in and the rain comes down.  I'm glad we're home and in for the rest of the day.

jane

maryz

jane, glad Ray did well.  Lots of tornadoes in the plains states.  I hope none of them get near you.

Jeanne, it's definitely time to find someone to help with the cleaning - especially the heavy stuff you've talked about doing.

Sue, glad you had such a good visit with Bill.  It's always good to get some one-on-one time.

Sharon, I hope your doctor okays the changes the tech suggests.

Ginny Ann, your Ray's volunteering sounds great.  Have you thought about doing something like that?

I had my mani/pedi this morning - that always is a good thing.  I've felt pretty much yucky the rest of the day.  Nothing specific, just blah!  When I got my shoes and socks off and in my soft clothes after dinner, I realized my ankles had swollen into balloons.  Don't know what that's about.  I'll keep my feet up this evening, and they'll probably be back to normal in the morning.

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!

GinnyAnn

I have thought of volunteering. Not sure how much help I could be though.   I will have to look into it after summer vacation.
It is hot here, summer temps.

maryz

Ginny Ann, sometimes - particularly in hospitals - there are volunteer positions that are mostly sitting - like at an information desk, answering the phone, etc.

Good morning, Buddies--although it's almost 11:00!  I've showered, dressed, taken a short walk--just a block and a half, and am soon going to fix a light lunch.  Bonney and Terri are picking me up about 12:15 to go out to Merilyn's for our Thursday bridge group.

Yesterday I washed guest room sheets, towels Bill used, etc. and some of my laundry.  Today, just getting a shower, washing hair, dressing for bridge.  I'm not wearing a bra yet because of the incision, but it doesn't matter, because I don't have much in the way of "boom boom" boobs!

Jon is coming up on Monday to take me to New Orleans for Nick's high school graduation.  I'll stay down there a couple of days.  Tomorrow Tim will take me out to lunch and then to Kroger to pick up a few things.

I'm spending most of my daytime hours sitting out on my deck with a book.  I've just started a "Harry Hole" mystery.  Do any of you read those?

Have a nice day!
Sue

jane

Sue....it sounds as if you're doing well.  I'm glad Jon is coming to get you for Nick's graduation. Those boys sure grew up fast!! I remember when they were little guys coming to visit you in the summertime.

We both slept in this morning...stress of yesterday, I think.  It was so hot here...in the mid to upper 80s and that's too much for me, too.  After a big storm last night, it's cooled off and is pleasant.

We went to the basement yesterday after we got home from Iowa City.  Tornado sirens went off here and local radio said tornado on the ground and moving towards us. It apparently went a bit south of us, and I don't know if there was any damage. Lots of tree limbs down here.

I walked to town in the cool air and am now dressed for lunch as a tea room here in town with some of the knitters. Then I'm meeting a former co-worker at a coffee shop at 2:00 after her local dental appt.

Rain predicted here for Fri and Sat.  Farmers will be happy.  Corn is peeking through the ground.  You can see a "green haze" as you look across the big fields.

jane

SharonE

Sue, sounds like you're pretty much back on schedule. So glad you'll be able to go to Nick's graduation. I'm with Jane--seems like they were just little tykes!  Where is he going to school?

Jane, so glad Ray made it through his extraction okay. Neat that the corn is starting to sprout. Have fun this afternoon.

Ginny, I used to volunteer at our local hospital in IN at the information desk. Didn't have to move around at all, but saw lots of people, many of whom I knew.  Try it. It's fun and gets you out.

Marilyn, I saw where your back went out again. Hope the chiro got it back. Have you tried a back brace?

Well, I've had my 2nd nerve stimulator trial on since last Friday and despite multiple adjustments to the program, it just isn't doing the job. I'm so depressed.  However, I did get a call from my orthopedist and have a date for my knee arthroscopic surgery on the 26th.  I am so sick of doctors and clinics.  Wish me luck on the knee at least.f

I took John to the airport this AM, got home at 8:30, then took a 2 hr nap!   :D He went up to his sister's and will be back Monday.

Hi to all.  Sharon

maryz

Sue, glad you're getting to go to the graduation.  Like Sharon's question - where is he going to college?

jane, glad you didn't get any storms, even if you did spend time in the basement.  :)

Sharon - I'm so sorry the stimulator didn't work.  Maybe the problem with your knee is contributing to the back pain (change in gait, etc.), and fixing that will help.  Hope springs eternal.

Sharon it is my SI joint that gives me so much trouble. I haven't called the Chiropractor for this one, I thought maybe I could tough it out until Monday. I also have to make an appointment for Freckles to be bathed probably for Monday as well. may I should just call the Chiro and try to get in today.

I called and can't get in until Monday anyway.

jane

Sharon... so disappointing to hear the stimulation isn't working for your pain.

Marilyn...I've never been to a chiro, but I hope he/she can help you.

Yes, my "social" whirl is over....lunch at the Tea Room with 5 other knitters and then on to the Coffee Shop to visit with my former co-worker.  Nothing but exciting social activities in this town.      :2funny:

Jane, the boys started coming to stay 2 weeks when they were 3 & 4 (they're only 18 months apart), then a month every summer.  Jon and Stacie both work (still) and child care was expensive in New Orleans.  I kept them every June and Stacie's mother kept them in July.  They started school in early August, so J & S were able to manage that.  Now Stacie's mom and step-father have moved to Arkansas and the step-dad is having dementia problems, so the boys are not going there now.  Alex is in summer school up here in Birmingham for June, but home in July and August.  He'll be a Junior when school starts in the fall.  Nick will go to LSU--I don't know what kind of scholarship he has, but some assistance, I'm sure.

Sharon, I'm so sorry the treatments haven't helped, but hope the arthroscopic surgery does.  I had a scope of my left knee about 7 or so years ago and it really made a difference--only 2 weeks of rehab with exercises to do at home--and no more pain!  Good luck!!!!!

Marilyn, I hope the knee scope goes well.  When are you and Keith off for your annual vacation?

Mary, what's going on with your Mr. Squirrel?  I'll bet he missed you while you were off having fun with your girls.  I'd like to murder the squirrel who comes up on my deck railing to crack nuts and leave a mess!  I've been sitting out there more now that I have new wrought iron chairs, table, and a large umbrella, so he's staying away when I'm there.  The chipmunks still live under my deck, though!

GinnyAnn, Kris's mom Ard volunteers at our local hospital every Friday.  She answers the phone at the visitor's desk and gives directions to those needing it.  This is a sit-down job and she enjoys it.  I think she's been taking a hiatus since Dave has come home from the hospital.    Maybe you could inquire if you might do something similar at your local hospital.

Bridge was fun today.  I had some good cards and some bad.  This is the group where all except Terri are members of the same church I attend.  Terri is a Catholic, so attends Mass and other services at St. Michaels here in Auburn.

My incision is healing pretty well.  I can't wear a bra (which I really don't need anyway!), so am wearing some men's undershirts which don't have sleeves--like a muscle shirt--and that doesn't interfere with the bandage I have to wear over the incision.  I'm hoping I can stop that soon.  The cardiologist's partner who examined me last week said it is healing well, but didn't say when I could stop wearing it.  I don't think I'll be wearing a bra for a while yet.  So I'm looking like I did when I first sprouted boobs when I was 12!

Sleep well, Buddies.

Sue: GEAUX Tigers!
Joy is Baton Rouge, not far from LSU!

SCFSue

Hi Joy, GEAUX Tigers!  I guess I'll be cheering for LSU whenever they play except for the Auburn game.  How are you doing?  I'd love to hear from you here more often--so I hope you're feeling well.  I'm doing OK for someone who had a pace maker installed a couple of weeks ago.  I've started walking a bit outside in my neighborhood.

I'm waiting for Tim to show up shortly.  He's taking me to lunch today and then we'll shop at Kroger.

Have a great day, Buddies.  I'll be back later.

Sue....I remember now when the boys were coming and you were taking them to the Library, etc. and finding things for the little guys to do.

Rain and cold here...40s and 50s after those days earlier that were 85+  Goofy weather!

I just finished an hour online with the guy I bought this laptop from with Team Viewer. His computer shop is no longer here in town.  That lets him remotely get into my computer and fix stuff without me having to haul the laptop 50 miles away and leave it.  I hope he's gotten that Win10 install thing finally off.

We're staying in and vegging out...not much else to do with the cold rain and wind.

I went for my yearly check up this morning My cholesterol is down, she gave me a pain shot  for my back that will last all day (non narcotic) Gave me a perscription for meloxicam and once for Gabapentin to help with the Neuropathy pain in my toes.  I only take the Meloxicam if the pain is my back is really bad so this bottle of 30 will probably last me 6 or more moths. My blood work was great I will be getting my yearly mammogram soon.

Sue I am not having any knew problems I thin you meant Sharon.

maryz

Well, phooey - just lost my post.   Oh, well - hi to everybody.

Just swimming, coffee, and duplicate around here.  I never do well with this partner - and we didn't have any of the good hands, either.  Oh, well - no points, but at least finished in the middle.  I'm going on one of the Terrace trips tomorrow morning - a local train ride.  (After all this is the home of the Chattanooga Choo Choo!)  John and I had done this when we first moved here and the grands were little - about 25 years ago, so it'll be fun to do again.  There's an Iron Man competition (whatever THAT is) here this weekend.  Supposed to be nice hot weather tomorrow, but rain all day Sunday.

Happy Weekend, Buddies.

To repeat myself...again this Saturday morning...RAIN, WIND, COLD.  It's just in the mid 40s, and a good day to be inside and cozy.

jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I'm moving slowly this morning--just don't have much energy yet.  So not much accomplished except one load of laundry in and soon to go into the dryer.  I'll be looking for something to read after laundry and lunch.

Mary, I think an Iron Man competition is races with obstacles like the Marines do--and here the ROTC men and women do them and I think other students are welcome to join in.  Activities like running long distances, scaling high flat board obstacles, crawling through mud, etc.  Crazy to me, but evidently worthwhile to participants.

I'm going to put a bunch of collards in a big pot with some bacon and will take some down to my neighbor Brownie when they're finished.

I'm expecting Jon here on Monday and he'll take me to N.O. for Nick's graduation.  We'll go down on Tuesday, Graduation is Wednesday evening, and I don't know when they'll bring me home.

I'm sorry about the yucky RAIN, WIND, COLD, Jane.  I hope it clears up soon.

Have a nice weekend, Buddies.

Hi Gals, I was busy most of yesterday and too tired to post later.  I went to the pain dr. and the tech tried the 6th program on the nerve stimulator. Wouldn't you know, it seemed to work for the 15 mins until I had to have the thing removed.  Now I'm in a quandary about whether to get the implant or not.  Do I go ahead based on only 15 mins of relief?  I really don't know. Will discuss it with John when he gets home and also when I see the pain dr. in 3 weeks. What a hassle.

A neighbor had driven me to the dr so that we could go to lunch and shopping afterwards. She had told me that if I could borrow a wheel chair, she would be glad to push me through the stores to find what I wanted.Frances loaned me her light weight one. I needed to take back some capris I had ordered on line and then to find new ones.  Both were accomplished quickly. We also went to SteinMart and I found a beautiful navy blue and yellow blouse and navy pants.  Had a lovely lunch at Jason's Deli also. Great afternoon.  That was the first time in about a year and  a half that I had been clothes shopping in a store!!!  This from a shopaholic!

Then I had to go visit Frances and get dinner, so no computer time.

Mary, the train trip sounds like fun. I took a train from Indy to Denver when I was in college, but that's the only train ride in the US I've been on.  Several in Europe, however.  Ranking in the middle of your duplicate group is not bad in my opinion, especially if your partner isn't very good.

I am resting a bit and then I have to put in a load of laundry and make meat loaves. I got the meat a couple days ago, so need to get them made and in the freezer.

Marilyn, I'm glad you saw your dr. I hope the pain meds help. Wonderful that your #'s are good.  My mamm isn't till August, I think.

Joy, I'm so sorry you have the fasciitis (sp) in your foot still. I've heard that it is very painful.

Jane, it is HOT, HUMID, and maybe Rain today!  Very summerlike for May.  John said it was 47 last night in Belvidere. Hope you have a good book or two!

Sue, LSU won't be close to you to visit Nick, but it's a good school. I know you will enjoy going to NO for his graduation.  I think the Iron Men includes long-distance swimming, biking, running as well as maybe obstacles.

Hi Darlene, Ginny, and ???   Sharon

jane

Joy....I hope you get relief soon.  I had a sudden attack of that the weekend the MN guys and gals were here....and I don't know how people walk with it.  I went up to the Saturday clinic and she touched a part of my foot near the arch and I about went through the roof.  She told me how to stretch it and to use the frozen water ball on the floor and roll my foot over it...and tylenol for the pain and swelling.  That worked for me, but I get a twinge of it every so often.

My sister had it bad...and ended up with two cortisone shots that finally helped her.

jane

maryz

The Ironman comes in various "strengths" of contests (re length, etc.).  It's pretty much a triathlon - swimming, cycling, and running.  There are going to be four different Ironman contests here this year - the organizers love Chattanooga.  And it's quite a challenge - with our mountains for difficulty in the cycling and running - and a flowing river for the swimming.  It turns out I know one of the major competitors in one of the older divisions.  I just found out my friend Vicki's son, who is in his mid40s (I think), is not only competing, but has been picked to be on the US team in a Switzerland competition later this year.

The train ride was fine this morning.  Not very long - just a few miles, and not particularly scenic - mostly through a wooded area, but an old historic track with bridges and a tunnel.  We were home in time for a late lunch.  It was a good outing.  Except something popped in my new knee as I was getting off our bus, and it has been really sore since then.  I don't think anything is really wrong with it, but I'll probably stay in for the rest of the day and baby it.

I'm not taking anything for mine due to side effects...Sue and Sharon hope you are doing better..Jane I would love the cooler weather..we are having storms today in Texas..there's going to be a new grief counseling class at my church...wonder if I should sign up for it..my husband been gone 4 years now...sure miss him...so I guess a person always does...Happy weekend to all Darlene

Marilyn

Darlene I take the lowest does of Pravastatin and have for a long time with no side effects. I had side effects with the others I had taken. However I think all my walking and exercise is a big factor in the lower numbers, it is only down to 184 from 186 a year ago. i walk at least 15,000 steps per day that come out to around 8+ miles. I walk the dog3=4 times a day.

It is getting warmer here on the coast so I have been wearing only a short sleeved t-shirt outside  today. I took Freckles to the dog park this morning she had a blast with the other Furry friend dogs. I have some pjhotos in my phone that I need to  post someplace that I can grab them with my computer to sent them off to the other owners of the dogs in the photos.

I took the Amtrak to California 4 years ago to visit one of my sons I think I would like to take a train tour across the states someday if they still do them..
