Hey, Sharon.  Love that ice!!!   I just checked and we came in SECOND! (6 tables) And got 0.25 MP.

Evening, Buddies....bad storm last night...rain and, I think, some hail, and no power for 2+ hours.

Today we've been packing up to leave for Ohio tomorrow for a week's visit with my sister.

We met our Iowa-Texas friends for lunch....we get together once a month at some place between us and them in the Quad Cities.  That's always a good time.

Tired tonight...

Jane

SharonE

It's 2:30 AM here. Ugh.

Have a good safe trip, Jane. I know you always enjoy your trips to Ohio.

Congrats on coming in 2nd, Mary. That's always a boost to the morale.

I'm sleeping in tomorrow.  Sharon

maryz

jane, I hope your weather settles down a little.  But you ARE in Iowa in the summertime.  ;D

Sharon, sorry you were up at 2:30, but I hope you're sleeping soundly as I write.  I woke up the first time at 4 (unusual for me), and just dozed off and on until I got up about 5:30. There will undoubtedly be a nap in my future sometime later.

We've had unusually good weather this week - highs around 90, and not much rain.  We need more rain, but this is the week of our 8-day Riverbend Music Festival (on the downtown waterfront).  There is usually at least one night of severe electrical storms that disrupt things, but not this year.  When I moved here, I had hoped I would be able to see the fireworks display on the last night.  The sightline is okay, but the trees are too thick at my elevation.  I could probably see them if I were on one of the upper floors.  But nobody around here wants to be up until 11-11:30.  :2funny:

SharonE

Yes, Mary, I was still asleep till 11:00 AM! I had breakfast for lunch!  After I read the paper, I dressed, did my exercises, threw a load in the washer and am now icing down my knee.  No plans for the rest of the day.  I'm sorry you missed the fireworks.  I can't believe the # of people that go to bed at 8 or 9 PM!  Of course, they are up with the birds!  I'm the opposite.

I updated Microsoft 10 last night and now all my downloads are shortcuts on my desktop!!!  What an aggravation.

I got a lovely pic of grandson, Braeden, in his graduation gown via FB.  So nice.

No other news here.  Hi to all. Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  We had a big rain on Thursday night--and it left a mess of dead limbs in my yard.  So I've spent the morning picking them up and carrying them down to the curb for Monday's pick up.  When that was accomplished, I planted 2 tomato plants, green pepper seeds, and bush bean seeds for my fall garden.  We won't have frost (usually) until the first of November, so I should get some produce from these I planted today.

During the rain storm, it blew my new umbrella out of the table and broke it, so that will need to be replaced.  I heard the rain, but didn't think it was that bad, so didn't go outside to check on the things on the deck.  Yuck!

I am tired from the morning work--have showered and shampooed and am planning on an afternoon of reading on my bed.  I hope all are feeling well--especially you, Sharon, and whoever else if not up to par.

Have a nice afternoon and evening.
Sue

SharonE

Thank you, Sue. Not doing too bad today. I've been to SS & church, eaten lunch, & put a load of towels in. After playing on the web a bit, I need to go do my exercises and ice down.

It sounds like you did a lot of work today. I think you ought to take it easier with all the health problems you've had this year.  Nice to have fresh veggies coming though.

Hi to Mary, Jane in Ohio, Ginny in Canada, Darlene, and Marilyn in Sun River.  Wow, lots on vacation this week.
Sharon

SCFSue

Sharon, I'm glad to see you posting and also not feeling so poorly today.  You've been busy after church.  I hope you were able to get your exercises done, iced down, and are relaxing for the rest of the day.

I went to SS and church this morning.  Olyne picked me up and brought me home.  We had a smaller turnout for church as many are off to the beach or mountains now, but it was nice.  Our female pastor preached today.  She and hubby Nick take turns--and both are good preachers with interesting and topical sermons that are inspiring, too.

After fixing and eating lunch I laid down on my bed and read for a while.  Then I went outside and started pruning one of my overgrown shrubs.  I didn't get it finished, but will work on it again tomorrow.  Tim is picking me up at 8:40 for an appointment with my GP, so I'm hoping he'll have time to stop at Kroger afterwards so I can pick up milk and a few other essentials.

I'm planning on more reading this evening as well as a movie if I can find a good one.  Have a nice evening, Every Buddy.

Sue

jane

We didn't make it to Ohio.  I awoke this morning in motel in Crawdfordsville, Indiana....sick and every joint aching.  I suspect a mild case of food poisoning, but texted with my sister, and we turned around and came home.  Just had some broth....first food today, and will be in bed early.

Nothing like your own bed when you're not feeling well.

Jane

maryz

Sharon, glad you're feeling better and sort of "back to normal".

Sue, sounds like you're having a good Sunday, with tomorrow planned out.

jane, so sorry you got sick and had to abort your trip.  At least you didn't have a 2-day trip to get back to home comfort.

After laundry and breakfast early this morning, all I've done is go up for lunch.  Tonight was the night where I didn't like either one of the entrees, so I just got into comfortable clothes and ate one of my frozen Chinese meals - plus watching an NCIS "Dad Marathon" most of the afternoon.

I hope y'all have a good week.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Sue, glad you got to church and started on pruning your bush. Hope you found something to watch or read this evening.

Jane, I'm so sorry you are ill and had to turn around and head back home.  I hope today finds you better.

Mary, sounds like you had a nice relaxing day too.

All 3 of our chicks plus Jonathan called to wish John a Happy Father's Day.  We called Millie, John's sister, but she was not doing well, very confused.

I fixed a good dinner for John for Father's Day and did 2 loads of laundry, but other than church, did nothing else constructive.  Sharon

SCFSue

Jane, I hope you're feeling better today.  I'm sorry you had to miss a visit with your sister--but sometimes "Needs Must!".   Take care of yourself and take it easy until you're feeling back to normal.

Mary, it sounds like you had a good Sunday.  Frozen Chinese, comfy clothes, and an NCIS marathon sounds like a perfect day.

Sharon, I still have a ways to go with the lorapetalum.  It's grown WAY too big and is on a slope, so it's not easy to trim.  I'll just keep at it a bit at a time and eventually I'll be finished.  How nice for your 3 and Jonathan to call John for Father's Day.  I'm sure he appreciated it.

Tim took me to Dr. Canfield for my 6 months check up (he's my GP) and blood work.  Then we went to Kroger and it was practically empty of customers so we were in and out of there in a New York minute!  Now I won't have to get someone to take me on Friday or Saturday.  We're planning a lunch date for Thursday.  I think we'll go to the Amsterdam Café and hopefully get a table outside if it's not raining.

I'm going outside now to prune a little more off the lorapetalum before the mail lady comes and I start fixing lunch.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy!  And Jane, Take it easy!!

Sue

jane

"Things" are working their way through the old system.  I am glad I'm home and not traveling in a car....need to be near "the facilities."

Not doing much...filled the safflower feeder and made up some sugar water for the hummers and filled the grape jelly feeder...but now resting and going to rest and drink liquids and rest for the rest of the day.  ðŸ¤"

SharonE

Jane, I'm glad you're home and hope it all works its way through  :D

Sue, we have a big lorapetalum in back, but JOhn just tops it and won't prune it back as much as it needs!  Grrr.

I have been busy this morning. I went to the new Kohls I found via GPS and the computer locator. I took back all of the things Mel got me and got one exercise top and 3 other casual tops. I had no need for exercise outfits. People just don't wear them here.  Then I stopped at the Vets to pick up probiotics and some more canned food, then went to the grocery for stool softner (due to my pain meds), some baby aspirin and 2 bunches of yellow mums at $4 each to put in all the beautiful ferns and baby breath in my vase left from my roses.  Really looks nice.

Now, I'm eating and needless to say am wiped out.  I still have my exercises to do, but that will come later. Hi to all. Sharon

maryz

jane, glad you're feeling better.  I know you'll be feeling literally washed out for a while after one of those spells.  Take it easy.

Sue, it sounds like your shrub could use some professional pruning, rather than your risking another fall while working on it.  Glad your Kroger trip was so successful.

Sharon, I know it was good to get to talk to all your kiddies yesterday.  And you certainly were busy this morning.  Enjoy your post-exercise icing!

I saw the orthopedist today, and we're still in the watchful waiting stage.  The new x-rays show about a 1 cm. gap (to my untrained eye) between the two pieces of the patella.  But he said that unless it moved and/or got caught in the prosthesis or in some ligament, we'd just continue to watch it.  If the piece does that, it'll cause the knee to lock and maybe give way.  And then he might have to go in to remove the fragment - hopefully arthroscopically.  But maybe that won't happen at all.  He also gave me a steroid injection in the right knee.  Yea!  And I can quit using the walker, going to a cane, and quit using the brace.  So, all-in-all, not a bad report.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

GinnyAnn

I am still home. We don't go to Canada until Aug.  It has been very hot here but after the rain we now are cooler.  Today I got my B-12 shot. Didn't realize that I had missed last month. That could be the reason I have been dragging.

Sharon hope your back will get better and better.

Jane sorry you had turn back home. But, I understand how good our own bed feels.

maryz  the orthopedist sounds wise with watchful waiting.

Sue you sure know how to keep busy. What have you been reading?

maryz

It's always good to hear from you, Ginny Ann.  It sounds like you're feeling better.

I apologize, Buddies - Since I last wrote, I've checked a ruler, and the gap in the fracture is more like 0.5 cm (doesn't sound nearly as big, though.  :-[

I didn't play duplicate last night.  My partner got stuck at home - they were doing street paving in her complex and she couldn't get out.  Actually, I was tired and just as glad to stay home. Nothing going on today but Silver Sneakers, and some bridge after supper.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Morning, Buddies...
It looks to be a beautiful day here...mild temps and then to heat up again to orrow and end of week...and maybe rain.  We need it!

Feeling better and need to try to eat today to get some energy back.

Jane

SharonE

Mary, that sounds like a guardedly optimistic report from the ortho. Great to get the shot. I have had too many of those and they don't work on me anymore. I've started wearing a brace on my right knee now. It has always hurt some, but now I think it's trying to compensate for the weakness of my operated knee.  Sigh!  Always something.  Good luck with bridge tonight.

Jane, you sound like you're feeling a little better.  Eat lightly!

Ginny, we all thought you had taken off on vacation. Sorry for our inaccurate reading.  Keep up with that Vit B12 shot. It makes such a difference in how we feel.

Yesterday, after I did my exercises, I did 5 mins on my recumbent bike.  Needless to say that that on top of everything else was too much and I was wiped out.  I did get to sleep with only 1/2 of my oxycontin though. I hope to get rid of that as soon as possible. It scares me, but I need sleep to heal.  Catch 21.  Today I went to PT and she worked me out pretty hard + 10 min on the bike!

I stopped and voted on the way home. Mick Mulvaney the new budget director was congressman from our district, so we were voting to replace him.  Mick's mil lived a few doors down the street from us, so we got to know him and his family a little bit. I hope the replacement does as good a job as Mick did, regardless of party.

I am sitting with an icepack on now waiting for the hospital to call. They called to tell me that they needed to go over my anesthesia requirements for my surgery TOMORROW!!  What?  The Pain Clinic called yesterday to schedule it for JULY 21st. I called them before PT but of course got voice mail, so don't know what's happening. The hospital was  supposed to call the doctor also.  The doctor had told me he didn't want me to have the implant before my NJ trip, so I don't think I have it wrong.  Oh well. Guess, it will work out.

I'm in for the day although the HVAC company is coming to do the spring checkup this afternoon.  Rather late spring!
Hope everyone has a good day and that the sun is shining in Sun River for Marilyn & Keith.  Sharon

SharonE

Just got a call from the pain clinic. The snafu is settled and I am still scheduled for July 21st!  Whew!   Sharon

Marilyn

WE are back home the drive just about did me in. I think  It might be better now that I have changed the ;position of my  seat in the car. I was hurting so bad we had to stopped  4 times for me to get out and walk away the pain in my leg and butt. I also hafd a great deal of pain in my right side. that has been happening to me ever since I got this  car. Our next long trip is in July to Vancouver Washington to Craig's house so Corey (Two of Keith's sons) can drive up to Keith's eye appointment at the Oregon Health and Science Un iversity6's Casey Eye Institute in Portland Oregon. Just over the river.

SCFSue

It's been raining all day here and not expected to stop tonight OR tomorrow.  My cleaning ladies came this morning about 9:00 and did a good job with their every other week cleaning--two came today so they were in and out in an hour.  It always feels nice to have a nice clean house!

Other than that I've not done much today except fix 3 meals for myself, eat, and read.  I wanted to get outside again to work on the shrubs and weeds, but the rain prohibited outside work.

Marilyn, can you use a firm pillow behind your back and one to sit on?  I'm so sorry that the drive home was so painful.

Sharon, woo hoo on getting confirmation on your July 21st appointment.  You are working hard at your rehab which is good, but be careful not to overdo it.  I hope your spring checkup with the HVAC unit went well.

Jane, it's good to hear you're feeling better.  Take it easy and keep improving daily.  I hope you can get your appetite back soon.

Mary, you probably needed your quiet evening at home.  Sometimes we just get so busy we don't realize we are tired.  I hope you are able to play tomorrow.

GinnyAnn, are your friends going to Canada in August, too?  I remember you talking about camping out with them and hiking, etc.  I've been re-reading lots of my paperback collection of favorite authors:  Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Andersen, Jennifer Crusie, Nora Roberts, Harlan Coben, Amanda Quick.

It's almost time for the PBS news, so will go get ready for it.

Have a nice evening, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.  I've just been doing normal AM things, including washing some winter sweaters of John's to pack away for the summer. I keep mine washed as I go along, but he just wears his over a shirt, so doesn't need frequent cleaning. The wool sweaters and some shirts I have stacked to go to the cleaners.  I also made a round of the back yard checking Bunny's droppings. I still am unable to collect them for disposal and John thinks that is beneath him. They seem to be normal now, so think I will be able to stop some of the coating meds she was on. She gets her staples out tomorrow. Yea!  She is still somewhat lethargic, but otherwise is pretty normal. She has finished her antibiotics now.  After my yard walk, I got all my meds organized for the week. I hate that.  I am about ready for lunch.

Sue, the HVAC guy wasn't able to work yesterday because it started raining fairly hard, so he's coming back Friday. I guess the rain could damage the inside of the condenser when he had it apart.  I hope you don't get any impact froml hurricane Cindy.  Yes, I am thrilled about my July 21st date. I thought sure it would be August.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry you were so uncomfortable driving.  I have a lumbar cushion and also a cushion to sit on with a hole in it for the sacrum.  I always use those on long drives.  I wish you were near so you could try them out before your next trip.  However, I think they were each around $20-25. I've had them forever.  I hope that now you're home you will feel better.

Hi to Mary, Ginny, Jane, Jeanne, Joy and whoever I've missed.  Sharon

JeanneP

Sue.  I wish I could find cleaners like yours. right now I have just put things off. Hope to find one by Fall. To much for me now mostly because I don't like to do it.
t has been in the 90s here now for 3 week. Humidity so bad. I am doing nothing but read. movies, sleep . If I don't go out real early to shop then I have to wait until after 7pm.
Jean. I hope you are not getting any of the stormy weather that is down that area. I watch in on Tv and looks so cooling. Would stick with the heat though. Our poor farmers are having to plant crops again Corn is pretty well burned and no rain.
They are saying it is first day of Summer today. Feels like we have had it for a long time. Wondering about July and August our hot months.

Part of Texas Family suppose to come up day after July 4th. Grandson was going to rebuild porch but if this heat we can forget it. Good job for next spring. Rather go someplace. SIL wants to go to Mammoth Cave as he has never been.  That sound better to me. I love caving.
JeanneP

SCFSue

Good almost afternoon from rainy, drizzly Auburn.  We are getting the rain from the hurricane that has dispersed and hit the Louisiana coast.  We've had enough rain now and the fall garden I planted last weekend is probably much too wet.  I'll just have to wait and see.  This rain has also put the kibosh on the pruning I need to do out front.  However, yesterday, my neighbor's yard man sent his helpers over and they cut some limbs overhanging my roof and cleaned the gutters--so that's a plus.

Jeanne, Google Molly Maids and see if they have a franchise in your area.  Son Tim found them here--I don't know if they are only local, but their cleaning crews are efficient and I like that they work quickly AND that they change my sheets.  That's a job that has become pretty hard for me to do by myself.

Sharon, you seem to be getting up to speed--but don't forget to take care of yourself and don't over do it!  I hope Bunny will perk up now that she's finished her antibiotics.  She's had a tough time and so have you--it's not fun to see a beloved pet lose her oomph because of the meds.

I'm heading to my bedroom for a lie down and a read.  I'm rereading a Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum novel.  Not as much fun as some other mystery/detective writers, but haven't read it in a long time.

Tim is taking me to lunch tomorrow and if he has time, I hope he'll feel up to stopping at the library so I can pick up some books to read.

I hope all our Buddies are doing well today, especially Jane who hasn't been feeling up to par.

Sue

maryz

Hi, Ladies!  Nothing much going on around here - as usual.  I went to the pool and to coffee, but that's it for the day.

Sue, I hope we get some of the rain from your storm.  I know you've been inundated, but they keep telling us it's going to rain here, but then it doesn't.  It's supposed to start sometime late today and rain for the next couple of days.

Have a good rest-of-the-week, Buddies.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Cottoncandy

Well this week hasn't been good to me...so far...I had a blood vessel to rupture under my eye...thank God wasn't in my eye...resulting in a black eye.....
Then I foolishly walked a mile in shoes that rubbed a blister on my heel......which is red and painful.....I'm putting AB ointment on it and praying for a fast healing....very hot and humid...don't know if we will get rain from the new tropical store Cindy.....hope everyone else is having a better week...Darlene

maryz

Darlene, so sorry about your black eye.  That's always so embarrassing.  And the blister just hurts.  Ouch!

Jeanne, I hope you get some relief from your heat wave. And find some house-cleaners.  Sue had a good suggestion.  Check your area for something like Molly Maids.  I think that's a franchise, so there should be a group in an area as large as yours.

Marilyn, is your back better?  I hope so.

Evening, Buddies!

Darlene....those dang ruptured blood vessels.  I've had them in my eye frequently, and that's nasty looking, too.

Marilyn....sorry about the back and side pain.

Sue...glad Cindy didn't hit your area badly.

Hi Sharon and Mary and Jeanne

Somehow the day got away from me.  The food poison is out of my system, it seems, and that feels good.

We've had rain off and on today and that cooled things down some.

Jane

Marilyn

I am doing well no back or side pain for the lasst couple of days. I am just busy busy since we got home. Getting back in the groove so to speak,.
