Dropbox will let you host photos for other people. Have you tried Dropbox..

maryz

jane, Jeanne, and Ginny Ann, I hope you're not having any problems from the current batch of storm and flooding.

Ditto Mary's concern.

Jane, I wouldn't pay that either, but thanks for the past postings.  I don't know anything about Dropbox although I've heard of it.

I've had a busy morning. Took Bunny to the groomer at 9:00. She looked absolutely awful! Then I went to the grocery and the ATM, came home and put stuff away and have an hour til I have to go to PT. Then, I'm free.  John will pick up Bunny.

Hi to all. Back later, maybe.  Sharon

jane

Marilyn....Yes, I use dropbox.  I didn't know they'd let you host pics from there.  I'll have to see if I can figure that out after I get back from a massage appt.

Wonderfully cool morning in the 70s...so I got my walk in early.  Ray's at the golf course, and I'm working on my computer project.  Time for a break...and a massage! 8)

SCFSue

By the time I got outside this morning to do a little pruning (my butterfly bush) and weeding, it was already 11:00 and I didn't stay long.  I did get some weeds pulled (much more weeding needed) and pruned dried blooms from the butterfly bush.  There are many more blooming and will continue to bloom until the first frost.

Then I came inside, fixed and ate lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, and took the book I started reading this morning into my bedroom so that I could lie down.  After reading for an hour, Tim came by with Kris, called out to tell me he was here to take my car to the Toyota place.  They are replacing Takata Airbags now.  Tim told me he thought he'd have to leave it for several days.  That's OK with me as I still have not been cleared for driving.  Tim is coming over tomorrow about 11:00 to take me to lunch and then to Kroger, so he should know when my car will be available at Toyota.  I'm thinking probably next week.

Did any of you watch West Side Story and Much Ado About Nothing on Tuesday night?  I've seen West Side Story at least 3 times, but this production of Much Ado About Nothing was new to me.  I was familiar with the play, of course, but this was an excellent production.  Worth the "past my bedtime" I spent watching it!

The local newsman told us that we're to be in the mid-high 90's through the weekend, so I don't think I'll be getting much work done outside.

Mary.  That was really a storm we had the other day. Made up for not raining since the Beginning of June. It really got hot and humid after it though. One big tree snapped clear down in half next door. We were lucky as it missed me and just got both steps and chrome railings on the front and back doors on next door. Missedh is beautiful new car by about a foot. Lots of trees down and damage in town and power lines down. Some areas not Electric

Jane. Seem like lots of things that have been FREE on the Internet for years are now charging.  I have also noticed on the IPad that on some apps you download for free. They now want to charge after the first month. You also can't get into most Internet Web sites now without signing up first. That is bad when you just want to check them out and wipe them off right away.

Going to cool down for the next 2 days. Maybe cook a little more than I have been doing. I made some Fajita Mix today. The Butcher is now selling Shaved beef. so much easier than slicing. Started buying the bags of Onion, Red,yellow, green Peppers from the freezer. All cut up nice size. Instead of using  the Tortillas i just used lettuce leaves I like it that way. Going to try the Chinese Egg roll mix the same way . Cooler for summer  Love Egg rolls . will save frying them.
Lazy day today. Did my DVD Marathon. 6hours of watching the Series 3 of the Affair. Still have 4 more hours to go. May do that tonight

Sue. Your yard must look really nice.  I have just given up on mine. Been way to hot and no rain. Just let them cut the grass at first and trim the bushes but never got the porch painted and Hosta are big and awful looking. All the bark is coming off the trees and all over my yard. Leaves are just drying up and falling off. Just forgetting it all now until fall
Got to much sun over a week ago. Got a dizzy spell and have a terrible bruises to my elbow and hip. Doesnt hurt but looks awful. Have to wear sleeves and no shorts. All in All its not been a nice summer this year. Can't wait until Fall. Been close to 90s for most of the past 2 months.

Sue, I think you are wise to forget about the yard for a while till things cool down some. Nice that you can get your airbag replaced while your car is unneeded.  Did you get a letter from Toyota?  We have 2 Avalons and I hope the airbags aren't Takata.  No word from Toyota anyway.

Jeanne, your weather sounds horrendous!  Sorry it's been so bad for you all summer.  We are going through a very hot, humid period here--94 yesterday with a heat index of 100. Supposed to stay the same for at least 10 days!  Ugh. Not my kind of weather. We did have a pop-up storm for about 30 mins last night. That was great because my flowers needed watering. Bunny hates hot weather too, so I'm so glad she got clipped short yesterday. She will be much more comfortable.  Lhasa's have so much hair and it grows so fast.  She was in such bad shape when we took her in because of her surgery putting off her grooming so long.

Jane, hope you can figure out Dropbox. I have never been on it, so I'm no help.

The local cable/phone/internet company called me yesterday and came out this morning. They will save me about $80 a month for 2 yrs and then we will have to renegotiate.  That also means I have a change of email address. I will change it in my profile and then send it out to each of you via the new gmail account.  It's a hassle but the TWC email program is the worst I've ever seen. I have had so many problems with it that I was in the process of switching to gmail anyway.

Landscapers came by about 9AM. I feel so sorry for them in this heat and humidity.  So glad John doesn't have to do it though.

Mary, I hope they got you AC fixed and the leak cleaned up. How awful with new carpets, etc.  Was your WalMart trip successful?  I hear that they are really worried about the new German Lidl stores coming to the states. They are completing one right now in the same shopping area as WM!!  Their prices are supposed to be 30% lower. Aldi's has renovated and expanded also to compete with Lidl. Supposedly HT & the other groceries are lowering prices to be competitive, but most of what I see are that they are phasing out some brand name things and substituting their own brand. That doesn't make me happy.  When are you going to Alaska?  I forget.  We enjoyed our cruise there, but we were on Holland America, so a huge ship.  Since I get seasick so badly though, that worked for us. I still had to take meds.  On a small ship, I would have been really miserable.   It's amazing that the state capital in Juneau can only be reached by boat or plane.  Odd choice I would say. I liked it though.

I bought a new Tracfone smart phone and am having trouble getting it set up.  My nephews didn't come through on the trip. Too much going on.  I've got to get on the phone to them and figure out what is going on.

Have a good day.  Enjoy your cool one, Jane, and the rest of you stay in in the AC!!  That's where I'll be.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...wow, that's quite a savings!  I also use only a gmail account. That way I can access it easily anywhere and change internet providers more easily, if I want to.

Mary...whew...glad it's on COOL now.

Storms have missed us....but 30 miles north they got 9 INCHES of rain in one storm!! It stalled over them and came up out of nowhere.  Weatherguessers were caught off guard and so was everyone else, apparently.  No warnings out about flooding, which happened, of course with 9 inches coming down.

It's wonderfully cool here this am....mid 60s, so I walked and also did some weeding in the garden.  I just can't/won't do it when it's in the 80s and high humidity.

I need to get to the bank and to the grocery store this afternoon, and do the kitchen floor.
Gary/Kathy/Ray and I are going out to dinner. Other couple is going to a local ballgame.
It's our 44th wedding anniversary today and we're doing the dessert tonight.  It's going to be simple....fresh fruit and cool whip!!   8)

Guess I better get a bit of lunch in me and get on to the floor.  Ray's at an investment meeting with the Amer. Legion and this afternoon he mans their table at the County Fair.  Thank heavens it's cooler up there for the people and the animals.

jane

SCFSue

I did paper work this morning, showered and dressed for lunch with Tim and Kris.  We went to our favorite Mexican place for lunch and then to Kroger.  Tim helped me shop and Kris tagged along.  They brought me home and brought the groceries inside, then left to go up to a county north of them where Tim was doing some business.  Kris's mom, Arden, is on a trip to South Carolina to visit a long time friend--her first road trip alone.  I'm sure she'll be OK and glad for the outing.

Not much else going on here.  It's too hot in the afternoon to work outside.  I see plenty of weeds that need pulling, but they'll just have to wait until cooler weather or for me to get out of bed earlier in the morning while it's shady in my yard!

Stay cool, Buddies.
Sue

The a/c was fixed Tuesday, and once we got it set on "cool", everything has worked fine. It's been nice and cool here.  The wet carpet was yucky, of course, but since it'ss an apartment, it's their problem.  It's not great, but it is commercial grade, low pile stuff, and works okay for me.

We have Aldi here - and I loved it when I was still cooking/grocery shopping.  They don't have large selections or national brands, but the quality of their brands is excellent, the produce is good, and their prices were good.  I've not heard of the other chain Sharon mentioned.  I've heard that Aldi frequently sites near a Walmart.  Since they don't carry everything, they make it easy for folks to shop in both places.   They're supposed to be putting a new Aldi near me, and I'll probably check it out from time to time.

We'll leave for Alaska on 1 August.  The cruise (American Cruise Lines) is from 5-12 August, and we'll get home late that night.

We have the same hot, humid weather here - with the pop-up, heavy, short rains.  There hasn't been one at my place though.  Maybe this evening.

Jeanne, sorry you've had such awful weather, but glad you haven't had damage.  Yours seems to have been the worst of this bunch.

Happy weekend, Buddies.

Hello ladies. I took Keith to the Dr. this morning, it went well for a bit then she decided to test his memory. He scored Dementia, I laready suspected that but the score didn't shock me. I think it shocked Keith though when he couldn't  remember  what he was supposed to remember.  He will be taking Aricept as soon as we go pick it up this evening. I called his oldest son Dr. craig and told him. we  knew it was coming ans  the boys al,so suspected this to come. So no surprises.

I just got a notice from Photobucket that they will no longer allow free account holders to post photos at other websites.  They want $40.00 A MONTH for that kind of account.  I'm not going to pay that amount.

So, if I've posted pics for you or avatars, etc. you'll need to find another place that allows 3rd party hosting.  I don't know of any yet, but I'll post if I find one.  I don't know when they'll disable my account.  I have no need for the account, so may just delete it all.  I have my  photos elsewhere and you all would have your own photos, too.

I changed over to tinypic.com  & its free !

maryz

Oh, Marilyn, I'm so sorry for Keith's diagnosis.  Since you say you've been suspecting it, I'm sure it was somewhat of a relief to have it confirmed.  Glad he's getting started on medication immediately.  A friend here is going through the same thing.  She had suspected that about her husband, and then got the diagnosis about 4-5 years ago. Tough, tough stuff. Lots of hugs.

I'm to have a lumpectomy .  I did a search & there seems to be two different procedures . One they do a local anesthetic & the other the patient is put to sleep & they spend the night in the hospital .  I was told I would get a letter in the mail    from the surgeon & I'm to call & make an appt. for a consultation  Has anyone gone through this ? I have a mass & over 3 years have gotten two ceramic markers but so far no sign of cancer . The dr. wants the mass removed .
I'm concerned about anesthetic because I have respiratory issues .

maryz

Hi, Alpiner - glad you made it over here.  Since the anesthesia is your concern, I'm sure your surgeon and anesthesiologist would take that into account and come up with some sort of local anesthesia for you.  Definitely something to bring up with them.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Alpiner....As Mary said, talk to your doc about your issues...even if they are in your medical record.  Good there is no sign of cancer, but I'm a believer in getting out things that don't belong there.  Thanks for the tip on a website you're using.  I suspect a lot of us will be leaving photobucket.  I'm going to remove all my pics there.

Marilyn...Your telling of K's problems driving, etc. sort of hinted at deeper issues, so I'm glad you got a dx and can get some medicine for him.

Mary...glad the AC is working now.

Sharon...I hadn't heard of Lidl.  I thought maybe the competition was going to be WalMart vs Amazon.

jane

Alpiner...did you see that Photobucket owns tinypic.com.   Interesting and I'll be watching if they start the huge charges, too..

GinnyAnn

We have an Aldi's here. Ray doesn't go there often, but has shopped there.

It has been mostly hot and humid so I have been staying in most of the time.

In July 2010, TinyPic blocked access to the site to users from Argentina, cutting off thousands of users to access, view or delete their stored images. As of August 2010, no statement has been released from TinyPic nor any of the numerous users' questions replied, instead a sign appears upon accessing the website inviting users to join PhotoBucket, but without giving any solutions for the users' stored images and videos.[4]

On September 23, 2010 TinyPic announced without warning that they are no longer accepting uploads from "international locations" (i.e. locations outside of the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and others) and that all links are turned off. A reason for this has not been provided. However, the services appear to have been restored to their former state.

TinyPic gave the following explanation on its homepage in regards to the issues on September 23, 2010: "We heard from many of our users in regards to these changes and we appreciate your feedback. TinyPic has restored linking to your images and enabled uploading. Please rest assured no content was removed from the site. We tried to notify users on TinyPic and requested they move their content to Photobucket. Unfortunately this messaging was insufficient and has taken many of our users by surprise and we apologize. Our intent was to begin combining some of the best features of TinyPic and Photobucket, thereby offering users a better experience. Any changes in the future will be better communicated. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience."

I wonder if we can rely on them?

jane

It sounds "iffy" at best, Bubble.  Why would they allow something there they are stopping and charging an outrageous fee for at their other site...and where they refer people. Nope...not paying for that kind of storage at those prices.

I'm downloading my own albums and will keep them on an external harddrive. I have the originals, of course, but just to be sure. Then I'm deleting everything at Photobucket.

It's wonderfully cool again this morning, and I've gotten my walk in and now enjoying my larger breakfast: egg whites, nitrate-free bacon and whole wheat toast.

Have a good weekend, Buddies!

jane

Cottoncandy

Jane..what brand of nitrate free bacon do u use? CC

SharonE

Hi Gals, I spent most of yesterday moving or deleting stored files in my old email account. I had files for receipts, photos, and other saved items. Took me forever. The ones I didn't print, I forwarded to my new gmail acct. HOpe you all got notice of the change.

John and I just finished our once a summer splurge of BLT sandwiches.  We seldom eat bacon and with the mayo, etc, it's a lot of calories, but when I see those big red ripe tomatoes at the grocery, I have to break down and get one at least once a summer.

Interesting about photobucket and tinypic.  I had used photobucket for a while, but then I forgot my password & had changed emails and it wouldn't let me change the password unless I put in the email which they didn't have on file! Not a good system.  I had copies anyway.

It's to be 100 or 101  heat index again today.  John wanted us to clean out the garage today!!! I agreed it needed to be done, but not in this heat.  He took a walk at 11:00 anyway.  Dumb.  I saw a golf cart out on our fairway yesterday. Couldn't believe it.  As my mother said, "It must be a disease!"  I loved playing golf, but not in temps like this.

Mary, glad you're cool again and that the mgmt will take care of the carpet. August 1 is coming up fast!  Are you flying into Vancouver, Canada?  We flew in a day early and thus were able to take a tour of the city. Later, I wished we had flown in an extra day early so we could go to Victoria Island that I've heard so much about.  It sounds like you are allowing extra days too.

Jane, I'm so glad you're getting some cool weather.  We haven't talked to John's sister near Rockford, IL to see if they had any floods near them.  They never have had, but this year has been epic for floods in lots of places. Happy 44th Anniversary, Jane.  Celebrate!  Isn't it wonderful to celebrate such a long-term anniversary?!

Marilyn, I'm so very sorry to hear about Keith's dementia. I do hope the med helps him. I, too, wondered if that was a problem.  John's sister has early alzheimers or dementia. It's been diagnosed about 3 or 4 yrs now and is progressing. You need to get all your legal/financial things in order before he progresses too far. That's what we are trying to do with John's sister now.  However, she has no children.

Darlene, you should be able to open a new gmail account.  Isn't seasickness the worst?!! It's an inherited trait in our family. Mom and I and both daughters have it, although Mom had it the worst.

Alpiner, I doubt they will even give you a choice of anesthesia when they hear you have breathing problems.  I had a lumpectomy 16 yrs ago. I did have regular anesthesia, but mine was cancer and they also took out 2 sentinal nodes. If you can find or make a small round pillow to put under your arm and breast, that will help you sleep while it is still painful. However, mine healed quickly and I had no trouble with the surgery. Mine was followed with chemo and radiation which weren't fun. However, I'm still here today!!  I agree that if something is there that doesn't belong, it should come out.

Lidl groceries are very new. Ours may be the newest. The ones they are building now are primarily in the SE.

Ginny, stay in where it's cool. I sure am.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, we're flying from Atlanta to Seattle, then on to Juneau.  We'll be spending our extra days in Juneau.  John and I have been to Vancouver - a lovely city, and been to Vancouver Island, the city of Victoria, and Butchart Gardens twice.  Truly special places!

We did finally get some rain overnight - about half-inch so far.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

Good Afternoon, Buddies.  I slept late this morning due to reading past midnight last night.  I did manage to fix and eat breakfast, clean up the kitchen, and unload the dishwasher from last night's washing.  Then I walked down to the corner (about 2 blocks away).  I had a chat with my former vet's Dad who has been helping his daughter and her husband renovate a home they bought in our neighborhood.  He has been painting shutters and other smaller jobs for them.  He's a retired vet, too.  Son Pete certainly was good with my beloved Stubby and to me especially when Stubby died.

Tim and Kris brought my car home around lunch time.  They'd taken it out to the Toyota place to get a new Takata airbag--which were being replaced for free because of a problem with Takata's airbags. Tim drove my car there and back and Kris followed in their Toyota.

I fixed left overs for my lunch and enjoyed fresh blueberries and cottage cheese as well.  I do love to eat!

Not much else going on this afternoon.  It's too hot now now to work outside today, so there'll be plenty of weed pulling and other chores to start early on Monday morning!

Mary, your trip sounds fantastic.  Who is going along with you?  I know you'll enjoy it and hopefully the weather will be great.

I've finished the book I was reading last night and am going to search for something to keep me occupied this afternoon.  Have a great day, Buddies.

Sue

jane

Darlene...I like one that's local to this area....Beeler's....and I've also gotten it at Sam's Club named Applegate's Naturals...Hickory Smoked Uncured Sunday bacon.  It has no nitrates so isn't "cured" but it is smoked, and I can't tell the difference between it and "cured" bacon.  I think you'll see more and more of it in bacon and ham, too.

Sharon...I haven't received any notice of your new email address.  Please do send it to me.

It's really heated up here, so I had to close up the windows and doors and turn on the AC.

Yes I noticed it . I will use tinypic.com as long as its free .

jane

Alpiner...Sounds good.  I downloaded some of my albums from Photobucket this morning and deleted them from their site.  It was very frustrating since the ads there are overwhelming and cover up the  links you need....like download this album or delete this album. I'm. SO. OUT. OF. THERE!

Sharon...tks for email with new address.  I've updated my contacts on my Ipad.

We had baby back ribs and our first local corn on the cob tonight.  Downright tasty!

Jane

jane

Early hot afternoon here in the heartland!

I've been on the backporch, but the clouds have moved on east and so the sun is out and the temps and humidity are on the rise.

Time to come in and watch Meet the Press and then get back to my Ipad for some afternoon quiet reading.

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, it is a tad cooler today--about 89 but humidity last night was 90%. Don't know what it is today. We had the edge of a storm last night--one big thunderclap nearly scared me to death.  Not much rain though.

We're back from SS & church, have eaten, and put a load of laundry in. Also finished the paper.  Now I can work on the computer.  I finally got everything emptied from my old email account, but still have to notify some businesses of the change of address.

I finished a dumb book called The Scoop by Fern Michaels last night.  Couldn't believe I'd wasted my time on it. I have a new book to start thaat John read by the author of The Horse Whisperer. I can't remember it's title right now, but he said it was the best he had read in a while.  I'll check the title & author and put it in here later after I get up. Getting up and down is still painful for me. Walking not so much.

Jane, glad you got my address.  New corn sounds great!

Mary, I hope your trip will be wonderful. You have really traveled a lot in that area.

Hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday.  Sharon
