Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

We had some strong storms come through at 5:00 am.  There were large tree limbs and split trees here along our street and lots of smaller limbs when we left for Iowa City to meet our Tx friends.  The day was beautiful...mid 80s but some good ol' Iowa humidity, too.

More storms predicted for tonight and maybe heavy rain.

We're looking forward to a restful and quiet long weekend here at home.

Molly

SHARON - Many thanks for thinking about our Family.  It was a treat for me to have David spend an overnight here last night.  We had a good conversation and talked a lot about his preparation for his transfer to Korea.  His family is prepared for his departure and hopefully will visit with him later on in the year after he settles in a bit.  We all have access to SKYPE, so we'll be able to stay in touch with David.  It was great to have him here (even if he ate my ice cream!!!) and he seemed really positive about the family's plans while he is away.

Mohamed has been busy grading several hundred final exams for his numerous students.  We talk almost each day - some times several times, especially if he cannot sleep well.  His time is 8 hours ahead of ours.  He is also trying to reach the  Travel Lady who has helped him with his international travel schedule for many years, so he can confirm his travel dates.

Thanks also for thinking about my continued head pains.  I had an appointment with my Family Doctor earlier today, but he was NOT able to recommend anything that we had not already discussed.  I'm just trying to take it easy, sleep as well as possible (thanks goodness) and move along with life.

Hope you're getting ready for a good weekend!

SharonE

Molly, bummer on nothing new to help your head. Have you been to a neurologist?
Glad you had a nice visit with David.

I just got back from the pain dr.  He gave me about 18 injections in my back--not fun!  I'm not sure of the outcome yet. Will have to see after I am up and on my feet a bit.

Gorgeous day here.  Hope you all have a nice Memorial Day weekend.  My daughter sent me an email of pics from the cemetery where my folks are. She had stopped by and put some flowers at the mausaleum.  Wish I were nearer and able to do it myself.  Sharon

jane

Just got our internet back today...storms last night and no broadband!  Rains are starting again with thunder and it's to continue tomorrow.  I hope the severe weather they're predicting for midwest misses us.  TX and KS are again being hit hard...and now SE looks to be in way of a tropical depression/storm.

We're staying in town tonight for supper out, and that's fine with me.  I burst a blood vessel in my right eye and it looks like an olive in a glass of tomato juice!  It's slowly getting better, but still not nice to look at.   ::).

Quiet weekend planned here.

Have a safe one, EveryBuddie.

Jane

Molly

Sharon - Thanks for your suggestion of an appointment with a Neurologist.  Yes, I have a great one and have stayed in touch with him ever since we relocated to Concord, NC.  He never rushes my appointments and seems to have all the time inn the World to talk and LISTEN when I pot questions.  He has always made excellent suggestions for me.  However, RE the current challenges, he and I have talked through many ideas and his medical suggestions, but NONE of them appeal to me.  The headaches are regular, but NOT so intense that I cannot bear them.  And I have NEVER been one to load up on meds.  I have learned that mornings are NOT good times for me, so plan my days out (appointments, etc) after lunch.  That seems to work best for me.  And when the Lawn crew is here and make a lot of noise, I distance myself from the side of the house/yard where they are working.  And right now, I am much more focused on David's preparations for his transfer to Korea on June 6th AND all the turmoil Mohamed has had to deal with in Egypt.  Thanks again for thinking of me!

MaryPage

I am not clever with photos; can anyone advise me as to how to get my picture back in here?  It has been gone ever since we crashed and started anew.  Thanks!

GinnyAnn

Did I post anything about the car accident? Ray and I were heading to my bone density appointment when we were hit from behind. We were stopped because a car was making a left hand turn. A young woman wasn't paying enough attention and rear ended us. Ray was okay but I had neck and back pain from it. So, I have been busy going to the chiropractor. Life seems to love throwing us curveballs.

I sure hope Sue is doing better and is okay. Does she have access to a phone ? Sharon I sympathize with you in dealing with back pain.

Love and hugs to all the Bosom Buddies.

Jeanne Lee

MaryPage, if you'll send me that great photo you used for your profile before the great crash, or another one if you prefer, I'll get it posted.  :boots:

Ginny Ann, it's amazing how much a small accident can hurt.  I hope you're over the aches and pains quickly.  And get the other stuff settled with repairs and insurance quickly, too.

I played bridge most of yesterday.  I got back to duplicate with a gal from the Monday group.  She's not a great player, but then I guess I'm certainly not either.  I hope we can play together, but at least I'm back, and maybe I'll find another partner I'm more comfortable with sometime.  Then last night, I played with a foursome here at The Terrace.  Two of the usual gals (ages 79 and 93) plus another gal (in her 90s also) who is wheelchair-bound and usually in pain.  We played in the latter's apartment.  She's an avid and very good player.  It was a fun evening.  And even more unusual when I was the most "agile" of the players.  It's certainly not often that THAT happens.  LOL

I plan to have a very quiet weekend.  I hope all the Buddies have a good holiday time.  I know we'll all be celebrating our servicemen and women, present and past.

jane

GinnyAnn...hope the aches and pains subside soon.

Maryz....nice to find some bridge players.  I haven't played for 3 weeks, so hope I can get back to it this Wed.

Our internet  was down for most of yesterday.  It cam back on about 4:00.  Phone company was supposed to call when it cam back....no call yet....guess that's not working too good, either!   ;D

We have a quiet weekend planned, too.  Too many graduation parties going on and kids racing from one to another....and too many parents who permit beer at these things. Monday we are having friends up for supper.....grilling smoked Iowa chops, asparagus, baked beans, and ice cream for dessert.  They're bringing an appetizer and the beans. So...easy peasy!

I think today we'll walk and the maybe tackle defrosting the chest freezer in the garage and I'll get to the fridge and it's freezer today or tomorrow.  I have nothing to watch on TV since the hockey playoffs are over and the finals don't start until Monday.

Have a safe weekend!

Jane

maryz

jane, I love the sound of your get-together.  But, please, what are "Iowa chops"?  That's a new term to me.

MaryPage

Oh, Ginny Ann!  You have had just one horrible thing after another, and how we all yearn for days consisting of serene meadows full of lovely flowers to meander through.  I know I do! I find myself lamenting very much all that you have had to deal with.  Not Fair, say I!  Lots of love & hugs being sent your way, with a bazillion hopes that they will somewhat soothe your spirit.

Thank you, Jeanne Lee.  I could not find the photo I used before, so I sent you 4 by email.  Choose whichever fits the space you are allowed, with my utmost thanks and my apologies for my incompetence.

SharonE

Ginny, I add my sympathy to that of the others on your accident. A rear-ender can cause a lot of pain. I've only had one and managed to pull over and only caught it on the back right bumper. I had some neck problems later but don't know if they were related.  I hope the chiropractor can ease out all your kinks. Sue has a cell phone but keeps it turned off. She may call me back this weekend to update me on her condition. I put a card in the mail today but she won't get it till Tuesday.

Jane, curses on losing your hi-fi connection.  I hope the new storms don't knock it out again.  The horrible tornados, etc in KS looked awful.  Pray you don't get any of those.  The cookout sounds wonderful. Enjoy!

Our weather guy says the tropical storm/hurricane will impact Charleston but probably not have much residual affect on us. Originally, he thought it would, but now, it looks like it is heading NE after Charleston.

As far as I can tell, the procedure yesterday didn't help at all. I walked about a half block with Bunny and had a rough time making it home.  I'm supposed to go back July 1 for another treatment. Don't know if I'll go or not.  He gave me 18 (!!!) injections in my back. Some were just to numb the area, but believe me, they hurt.

Mary, I'm glad you've been having some good bridge and found a duplicate partner. The games John plays in have a partner's table or the director who will look for a suitable partner for those without one.  He's had some good luck, but he plays with several different partners.

We have no plans for the weekend other than church tomorrow and bridge for John on Monday.  The traffic was horrendous to and from the doctors yesterday, so I'm happy to stay off the roads.

Mary Page, glad you're going to have your picture back up.

Darlene, enjoy the graduations.

Hi to all.  Sharon

Maryz....
They're a favorite here...and we like the smoked kind so they really only need to be heated well on a grill

Walk is finished....now on to the freezer after some salad for lunch.  Lots of dark clouds while we walked, but looking sunny now and warming up.

maryz

Thanks, jane - so an "Iowa chop" is pork.  I have a friend from Detroit and New York state and any steak type meat is a "chop".  In the South, I've not heard "chop" used by itself, and I can only remember hearing the terms "pork chop" or "lamb chop", never with beef.  Regional speech is always interesting.  It's a shame we're losing so much of it.

MaryPage

I have a new (old) picture up!  Woo hoo!

Thank you, Jeanne Lee!

This was taken out on my back deck one day last winter.  You can see a good deal of the Chesapeake Bay behind me, but not all of it that you can see from my back deck;  not by any means all of it.

Marilyn

freckles and I walked in  the Memorial Day parade withn the Furry friend organization today in  honor of the War Dogs and thier Handlers.

I had  the 2nd Mammogram and and Ultra sound yesterday it's all good. Everything is clear. Just Dense.

MaryPage

Just what we were hoping for!

maryz

Hooray, Marilyn - that's great news!

MaryPage, that's a good picture.  I like the one of you that the two of us are in.  I cropped it down to just me to use here.  Jeanne Lee was good enough to put mine up, too.

I remember we spoke in unison to tell our daughters to take only our upper halves!  You have your back to our marina basin in that picture, and yes, it is a good one of you.

Home from graduations...had a great time ...the covent church was beautiful where one of the graduations was...rest a few days then going to the coast with kids....weather permitting...my flag is up...Happy Memorial Day..Darlene

Mary...."chops" here are always pork...and most people say "pork chops" or "butterfly chops" or "rib chops"...depending on the cut....and can be either fresh pork or smoked.  I've never heard beef referred to as "chops" here either.  Iowa is a huge pork producing state, so maybe we're biased toward pork.

Marilyn....good news and a big relief for you.

Darlene....glad graduation was good.  Where on the coast are you headed? Enjoy.

MaryPage....good to see your photo and Mary's too.

Storms off and on today.  We did get the chest freezer defrosted.  Tomorrow  I'll do the fridge.  After church Ray picked up a steak for us to split as this was the Amer. Legion steak fry night.  I don't eat much beef anymore, but a little bit as tasty and half a baked potato was just right.

Jane.
You sent me the name and a address  for Sue the other day. Thought I had put it in a file but can't find it. When you have time, could you send it again.

Thanks

On its way to you, Jeanne.

Molly

The NEW photos recently posted are great!  Sure wish I had one to update.  I haven't had a photo taken in many years.

Enjoyed a recent visit with my son (in fact he came twice this month) and is now preparing for his transfer to Korea for at least one year and possibly two.

Mohamed arrives in the USA in mid-June for a brief visit between his University semesters.

I'm checking out recommendations for an appointment with a Chiropractor as the intense pain in my back has not reduced at all - in fact it ha become more uncomfortable, especially when I try to walk too far.  Even a 60 step trip to the mailbox causes a lot of pain.

Hope all Friends have a great Holiday weekend!

jane

Molly....so good David could visit a bit before he goes to Korea.

Beautiful day here and we did get a walk in.  The cemetery looks so well-kept...they've obviously mowed and lots of flowers there.  That's where tomorrow's Memorial Day program will be, if no rain.  If rain, it moves into the Middle School gym.

Have a Blessed Sunday.

SharonE

Nice new pictures, MaryZ and Mary Page.

Sounds like everyone is having a relaxed weekend.

We're back from church and I have put a load of towels in the washer.  I got steak for Memorial Day and think I may fix it today rather than tomorrow.

Molly, so sorry you're suffering back pain as well. I hope the chiropractor can help you.  Great that Mohamed is coming soon.
Sharon

JeanneP

Molly. I am sure that some of your friends are using a IPhone or any with a camera. Ipad also. Just ask them to take a quick photo. Then send it to your E-M and then send to one of the people that will put it on S and F for you.  Only take 10 min.  I can't use a camera at all but easy on my IPad.
JeanneP

SharonE

I hope you are all enjoying some nice Memorial Day pursuits. John is off to bridge, so it is quiet here.  I may make potato salad and grill some chicken breasts for dinner. We had our steaks last night.

I was awake till after 3 AM again last night, so slept in till 10:30.  I upped my tremor meds last night. Don't know if that is what caused it or not. I was following dr's orders.

It is bright and sunny out right now but felt some very fine sprinkles when I was out looking at my flowers.  My hydrangeas are gorgeous!! If I can, I will take some pictures and email them.  No word from Sue. Sharon

JeanneP

I imagine that Sue is taking all kinds of drugs and not much in the mood for writing, Talking or even having visitors. Soon we all hope that she improves and we hear from her.  They will have her walking and exercising. Lots of sleeping which is good.  I sent her a card yesterday. Bet she has lots of these to catch up on.
