I know that you have not been able to drive you car for awhile now. I am finding out just how awful it is. You seem to be able to manage in your area. Here I am just out of town and even though most things I use are all within a 5 mile area and we have the best bus service. I am going crazy. Just do not have people close anymore .I am use to jumping in a car 2 times a day. Not been without for 65 years. Mine not even sitting in the driveway.Put enough in it this year that time to just not fix what is wrong now. Just to cold to be out looking for another car.Tomorrow insurance due and next few weeks have to take the drivers test for new license.. Keep cutting my own hair. So all in all not in a very good mood. This cold winter not helping. But Spring should be here soon and all will work out. Weather man just saying more snow this weekend and below 0 on the nights next week.. Oh! well guess we are saving money on Gas..
Sharon. You have a nice trip. (something I need to do). Glad you are feeling well enough to go.). Now are you flying or driving?

Your husbands trip went fast. Seems like he just went. Where did he go.  Bridge trip I would think. He loves his Bridge. Sounds a Master of it..
Start of another month. I was thinking next week but forgot Feb. only 28 days
Everyone else. Have a good weekend. Hope we dont have to shovel snow again. Say only about a inch.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's another dreary rainy day here.  Late yesterday afternoon my friend Norma picked me up for our final Lady Tigers home basketball game (they have 2 more away games which I'm hoping will be on TV).  Last night's game was with my Alma Mater, the U. of South Carolina.  Carolina won, but not by much.  Our gals played well, but Carolina prevailed.  We had a good turnout for the game--and Carolina did, too.  They had a lot of parents of their team attending and their section was full.  I did chat a bit with the President of South Carolina and his charming wife.  He was previously a Chancellor at Alabama.  He's been at Carolina 5 or 6 years.  Evidently he travels with the team fairly frequently.  Our men's football coach came in after the game had started with one of his employees and sat right behind me.  They had been on campus at a meeting of some sort.  We had a bit of a conversation--like Hi and How are you!

I'm hoping the rain stops or at least slows down before Tim gets here this morning.  We'll go to the library, Kroger shopping, and then to meet Kris for lunch.  I don't mind rainy days if I'm just staying home, but sure hate to be out in it!

Have a nice/happy Saturday, Every Buddy.

Back when I'm rested up.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  Jane, I'm glad you and Ray have moved to Harligen and sister and BIL are home safely.  How is the new clinic for Ray's treatments?  I hope it's easier to get to and the treatments go well.  When Bob had his cancer we had to drive to Montgomery for treatments and that was a 65 mile trip from our farm.  We scheduled the treatments for late afternoon so that I didn't have to miss a day of school.  Meanwhile, Bob's dad died and we had to take Grandma Retzlaff with us as she wasn't able to drive and couldn't be left at the farm alone.  Keep us posted on Ray's condition.  Thoughts and prayers for his treatments.

Darlene, it's sunny here today although we had rain storms during the night.  I'm planning on watching men's basketball games on TV later this afternoon and reading one of the library books I picked up yesterday at the library.  I hope you're doing well and have a nice weekend.

Hi Jackie!  Thanks for stopping in.  I saw your post late yesterday and am now saying Good morning--I'm still in P.J.'s and need to get dressed and get a few chores done before I watch some basketball games on TV!

Sandy, I'm not sure if I'm living in the past or the future.  I usually have to check the date on the morning paper to know what day it is.  Not being able to drive is the PITS!

Not much else going on here today.  I need to shower and shampoo my hair, plus get my walk in.  I'll probably walk first, then get into the shower.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

Good Saturday morning, Buddies.  I guess I didn't post yesterday - sorry.  Margaret picked me up at suppertime and I'm at her house for the weekend. There's a shower for Darby this afternoon here at her house.  Got to visit with Darby and Jesse for a few minutes last night and meet her parents. Margaret's gone to set up the altar for church tomorrow (she's on the Altar Guild at the Episcopal church in Manchester).  Then she has to stop by Publix to pick up some trays for the party and will be back soon.  Looking forward to seeing Kate and Jean and other friends, and meeting some of Darby's friends, too.

jane, hope you and Ray are getting settled in the new space over this weekend.  How often does he have treatments?  I know you'll miss being on the beach, but I have seen those spring-break crowds, and know it wouldn't be fun.

Sue, I hope you have nice weather for your walk.  At least it's cool, and not that heat that Darlene has had.  That Texas heat and humidity can be brutal.

Good to see you other gals chiming in - come talk any time.

I hope Sharon is having a good time with her girls in Florida.  I think she's due back home tomorrow.

Hugs to all the Buddies!

..Callie...I think you may have meant your post above to be in a different discussion, maybe?  Nice to see you here, in any case.

Jeanne...yes, too cold to go car shopping right now.

Sue...Ray's at the same cancer center.  We drove up here from the Island in Jan and Feb., but with spring break coming, it's too hectic and crowded...sirens going day and night, etc.  we decided we were better off getting a place up here and I think it'll work out ok.  It's 89 today!  Next week to be cooler, thank heavens.

Mary...treatments are every 3 weeks..with blood test one week after chemo..And last Tuesday that meant, in addition to the B12 he get for side effects, he received a shot of ZARXIO to increase his white blood cell production.  We had to come back Wed and again Thursday for a shot each day.  That will be easier, obviously, when we're here in town.

He's having a lot of fatigue and had some bone pain as Nurse said he would from the Zarxio.

We're doing on day/week at a time.

Jane

maryz

jane, how long is he scheduled for treatments? i.e., how long do you think you'll be in the Valley?

Shirley, are you checking in?  My Kate is going to be looking for a used van camper.  Do you still have yours?  I don't remember what kind it is. She wants to rent one for a week or so before she buys, so she can be sure the can handle this by herself.  Also, do you remember about companies that used to let someone rent a camper for a very reduced rent to transition it from Iowa (or somewhere) to Alaska in the spring for the summer season?  Do they still do that?  Do you remember the company?

Hi, Callie...No problem with you posting here, but I feared you'd wonder where it ended up. 🤓

Mary...we don't really know. Dr. Said at first they would do 3 chemos and then see how the nodule looked and maybe zap it with radiation.  So, we don't know how long we'll be here.  The weather in Iowa is so bad, we want to be sure he won't need more treatments while the snow and cold are still there.  We told the Inn here we'd be here the month of March.

Big weather change here today..87 and humid this morning...now temp is dropping and I will need to put on heavier pants and grab a sweater for going out for supper .

Jane

JeanneP

Well, as they promised. we got snow again. Not as bad as I thought they said. just about 2 inches. Stopped now. sun is out but not warm.  I am still in PJ and will stay that way. No point of dressing . I showered last night and so wait until morning.

Now seems to be warming up in most states. Daughter in Texas says it is in the eighties and daughter who is in Texas call to say 85 there. In a way I would not like to be either place. Not ready for Hot weather either. After this unbelievable Winter in the Midwest this year. Wonder what our Summer will be like.

Still got the finger wrapped. Seems to be healing some. Putting antibiotic on now. Hard to type at the moment
Its hard enough with this new shape Keyboard. I prefer my old one but no idea where to plug it in the new computer. Not the same places at the back for the old type cord on Keyboard or the Mouse and Printer. Need a new printer anyway. Every think seems to be Wireless now.
JeanneP

maryz

jane, glad you'll be in Texas for a while longer (if not for that particular reason). I hope the weather has improved by the end of March.

Jeanne, I hope your finger continues to improve.  You've really had an awful winter.  I'm with you though - I don't like those hot temps, either.

I just heard on the news that there were tornadoes just east of where Sue lives.  I hope all is okay with her and her son/DIL.

We had another 1.5" of rain today.  But Margaret got me home okay - about 4:30 this afternoon. It was a good weekend.  Lots of good visiting, and the shower was lots of fun.  I think all had a good time, and the kids got some nice goodies for their house.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Good Morning Buddies. I  don't have much on my to do list for today. At 9 I am taking my car in to the shop for some fluid changes IE. oil and transmission fluids, and get the coolant .antifreeze checked too.

Freckles and I have two visits scheduled for later in the week and on Wednesday I have a class on Alzheimer's presented by the Area Agency on aging. the class  is all about how to help the caregiver and what is available, the class is 6 weeks long every Wednesday.

maryz

Marilyn, glad you're going to the class for caregivers.  That's one of the hardest jobs in the world, I think.  Hope you get a lot out of it.

Sharon, guess you home now - and recuperating, I hope.  I know you had a great weekend.

Sue, check in a let us know you're okay.  Sad news about those tornadoes in your area (or anywhere).

Happy Monday to all the Buddies!

Was going to look at a car but snowed again last night and temp still only 12 deg.

I was feeling be about our until I saw saw the tornados in Georgia and places. Just awful. I have just got toshut down the t.v for the day. So depressing.
Mary. Sounds like you had a fun weekend. I just hope sue got home safe an no flight hold ups.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I'm OK, no damage here.  However, I haven't heard from Tim this morning and the morning newspaper showed horrifying photos of storm damage in Beauregard (a small community near Opelika where Tim and Kris live).  Hopefully he'll call me if he can't stop by this morning.  If they have lots of limbs down, they are probably outside cleaning up their yard.
My sister Anne down in Jacksonville, FL, called this morning to see if I'm OK.  I don't even have limbs down--so I was able to reassure her.

Mary, the photos in this morning's paper are horrific!  The folks in that area have sustained a lot of damage--and some will not be reparable.  I won't know about Tim and Kris until he calls or comes over.  I hope I hear from him soon.  The paper didn't say if Opelika's phone system is down.  I didn't get the high winds and no limbs are down.

Marilyn, good luck with the changes/improvements in your oil changes, etc.  I know you and Freckles will enjoy your visits.  I'm glad that you have a class on Alzheimer's which should be helpful to you and Keith's caregiver.  Take care of yourself while you are caring for Keith!

Jeanne, it's colder here this morning and windy.  However, we missed the tornado that struck in nearby Beauregard east of Tim.  Lots of damage to businesses and homes there.  I have a bridge friend who lives in Beauregard and hope she is OK.

Mary, I'm fine.  No heavy winds here and all is well as far as I know in Auburn and Opelika.  Tim came by to check on me and said they were OK, too.  However this mornings paper showed photos of horrific damage in Beauregard.  I think 24 homes were demolished and lots of injuries to residents.  Beauregard is a small community, lots of farmers and small businesses.

Marilyn, I hope your visit to check-up for your car went well this morning.  How is Keith this morning?  The classes on Alzheimer's sound like a real help for you and Keith.

Jeanne, I'm sorry about the snow, but 2 inches doesn't seem so bad as it will melt quickly.  It's cold and windy here this morning, but no rain or snow.  I am fearful of a big freeze over night as my azaleas are already trying to bloom.

Jane, thanks for the update on your move and on Ray's condition.  I hope the treatments are going well and that you can stay where you are until he feels better.  When Bob had chemo and radiation he was really wiped out for a few days following it.  Keep us posted.  Thoughts and prayers going up for you both.

While I was typing this, Tim did arrive.  We went over some paperwork and he'd put in an order for more checks from my bank.  So they should be arriving soon.  We caught up on his weekend activities and I was happy that the storm didn't do any damage at their home.

Not much else to report here today.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hi everyone...we had very cold temps this morning...still right at freezing..so will not walk today...next two days the same...then warm up to 80 by weekend...Texas weather...Jeanne hope you find a car you are looking for...I have to renew by DL next year..hope I can pass the vision test...Jane hope things are good for you and hubby...enjoy the warm weather that's coming...Sue glad you were safe from bad weather...Hi to all reading...Darlene

maryz

Jeanne, sorry you're still getting such awful weather. Surely spring will come sometime.

Sue, it's good to hear that you're okay.  And that Tim and Kris are okay, too.

Darlene, I haven't had to take a DL test since my original one - just renewals, and occasionally a new photo.  TN is instituting a new license next year for everybody - something to do with using it as an ID card.  I don't know if I'll have to do that or not.  I always use my passport when I fly. Oh, well - good luck in any case.

Well, you have all been a chatty bunch and I just finished getting it all read.  I got home about 6:30 last night and then had to pick Bunny up. She was a happy camper.  The shuttle guy was there and waiting in the cell lot when I called him. Flight was good.

I had an awful start to things because after I got to the airport Thursday, I couldn't find my wallet with my ID. I was near to crying, but the guy in charge of the wheelchair pushers was so nice and so helpful. My first guy who was supposed to push me, said not Id, not check in and he vanished. I was lucky to find the other guy. He said there was a special procedure available to work around that situation (which surprised me a lot!!). I had my boarding pass and they could check my drivers license on line when I told them the make & model of my car.  Of course I had to be patted down very thoroughly and all my bags checked carefully before they let me go. I was so hassled by the time I got out of the security and got to the gate just before boarding and just when Traecy rolled up!  She had connected from St. Louis.  So we chatted all the way to Tampa and connected with Lori in 2 mins of landing and Melanie was there quickly too, but we all were stressed about my ID situation because we couldn't count on Tampa allowing me to do the same thing going home.  However, after I got to Mels and went through everything carefully, I finally found my wallet in an outside pocket of a carry on tote that I had never used before. I was packed so tightly, I had to put some things in it.  Anyway, all is well that ends well.  I slept a lot better after finding it. I felt like I had a screw loose because I was sure everything was organized the night before.

It was so good to see the girls and Sangmin and their new house andd the Citrus HIlls area.  The next day, my sil and 4 nieces all drove in to have lunch with us and visit.  Such a special time. The next day, we went to the Villages to have lunch with my BFF from HS & college. After lunch, the girls went shopping and my friend took me to her home to see it and also to visit a little with her husband (who is 91) but still getting around.  I was so glad to see them.  Later the girls played pickle ball while Sangmin and I relaxed on the lanai.  We went out for seafood several times and Sangmin grilled salmon the first night.  Fantastic!  Then it was Sunday and time to get packed and to the airport. Lori's flight was a ccouple hours before Traecy's and mine. We got sandwiches there, but I feel like we ate or drank all weekend! Bunny was so excited to see me when I went to get her and wouldn't go to bed until I did. She cuddled right next to me.

Today, I got everything unpacked and put away and went the grocery and caught up the mail and email.  Those of you on FB can see the group picture of us all.

Now, I need to feed the baby.  So glad to hear Sue & family are safe. We have webfeet too. It rained for 3 out of the 4 days I was gone. We are about 6" over for the year and 20 " over for 2018! Glug!  I'll comment on other things tomorrow. Glad Ray & Jane are resettled and Mary enjoyed the shower.  Sharon

maryz

Welcome home, Sharon!  Glad you had such a good time, even with the rocky start.

We've got a lovely sunny morning, but it is BRRR cold (still in the 20s at nearly 9 a.m.  I've been mostly awake since about 3:30, so I see a nap in my future.

Happy Tuesday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Hi Gals, not a lot of news here now.  Mary, you definitely should plan naptime this afternoon.

Jeanne, John was just on a tour to New Zealand as it was some place he had always wanted to go.  Too long a trip and too much walking for me.  I should hear from him early evening and then he'll arrive home about 1 AM.  He left 2/21, so it was a significant amount of time.  No bridge unless one of the other tourists started a game. I do hope you can get rid of your car and get a good used one.  CarMax might be a place to go.  I'm sure all the car lots have trade-ins for sale too, but check them carefully.

Sue, so glad you and Tim & Kris are all okay.

Darlene, what a rollercoaster of temps you have!

Marilyn, glad you got your car all fixed up so you won't have to worry about it for a while.  Have you sold the Corvette yet?  You might be able to get a good sum for a vintage one--or maybe one of the boys wants it.  So glad you're in the Alzheimer's support group/class.

Jane, I do hope Ray doesn't have much bone pain. I remember Lorraine had a lot, but I didn't have any.  Anyway, glad you're all settled in close to the Cancer Center and won't have to drive much for his appts.

I've sorted clothes, emptied the DW and loaded what few things I had from yesterday. Then I went in and tackled the stained carpet where I got sick before I left.  I had poured a stain magic for carpet on it and wiped up what I could, but just had too much else to do plus didn't feel like it.  So today, I put a small stool, my walker, my cell phone in my pocket and mixed a batch of Oxyclean & soap and scrubbed it, rinsed it, tried to dry it and then turned on the ceiling fan and cleaned up my mess.  It's not perfect, but I don't think anyone else would notice it.  I need to run to Walgreen's to pick up something for John at 20% off. Not something I want to do, but the Sr Sale is only today.  I just hope he doesn't call while I'm gone.  I don't think he will have time in LAX  because of customs.  Well, I've got most things caught up, so need to run out.  Have a good day, everyone.  Sharon

jane

It's still chilly here, but without the drizzle of yesterday, so it feels warmer.  I also had to run out to the drug store for Ray and I'm still getting used to coping with the traffic here...and learning my way around.   ;)

We're spending a quiet day inside.  Tomorrow we go for much needed haircuts back down in Port Isabel since we have no idea where to try here.  It'll also get Ray out of these 4 walls and he seems to need that.  The rest of the week we'll play by ear.

I'm catching up on checkbook stuff.

jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Jane, and whoever is looking in.  It's chilly and windy here this morning.  I'm still sitting here in my P.J.'s, but will dress soon and get bundled up for at least a walk around the block.  I hope your trip today to get haircuts is a good one.  And I'm sure Ray will be happy to get out!

The storm in Smith's Station caused 23 known deaths-and the pictures plus the losses are terrible.  The state troupers and volunteers are still going through the rubble looking for missing persons who are probably dead.  Many churches in surrounding communities have sent volunteers to help search for the missing and also to help clean up the debris.  At least a half dozen school age children were killed by the storm while waiting for the school bus.  More help is needed and Smith's Station community will be a long time in healing.  It's a terrible tragedy.

Sharon, I hope John has good connections on his way home and has been able to sleep on the plane.  You'll be busy today and I hope you are home for his call from LA.

It's really chilly and windy here this morning.  I need to get dressed in warm winter clothing so that I can get outside for a walk.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

Marilyn

Good morning I have to go to the post office to mail off yet another POAto another insurance asppeal. The arecharging Keith a monthly $30 penalty for the next 9 years because he didn't sign up for Part D in 2011.  His scripts didn't even cost $30 a month until just before his October surgery. So I am appealinbg that decision to charge  the penalty.

It has been raining here however I think is mayhave stopped for a little bit and I will take Freckles for a walk now.

SharonE

Good luck, Marilyn, on the appeal.  John didn't get MC D when he was supposed to either, but that was 15 years ago.  Until his glaucoma, he took no medicine and I guess he thought he never would. Boy, did he rant when his eye drops were over $300 a bottle and needed 2 a month!  However, so far he is lucky. After his cataract surgery and the itty bitty stents they put in, his pressure is way down and he doesn't need the drops.  I have more than made up for my MC D costs in savings on the many drugs I take.  I didn't know you could appeal the penalty charge, but I hope it works for you.

Jane, it must be difficult to get acclimated to a new city and locations of needed stores, etc. I hope Ray enjoys his trip out.

Sue, it is horrifying to see the results of the tornado in AL.  But I still can't understand people living in flimsy trailers without tie-downs in tornado country.  Of course, not all affected lived in trailers, but I know some did.

John got home about 1 AM and was exhausted. He changed to his jammies, read his messages and then went to bed.  We still haven't discussed everything  about the trip yet.  He took 400 pics, so I still have those to go through.  He brought me home some opal earrings that I wanted but didn't need.

I had my first laser surgery to remove the back of the capsule behind the lens that was hazing up.  The next is the 20th.  My eye is still dilated, but I can see well enough. I hope it solves the problem.

Yesterday, after I ran my errand, I finally wrote the birding article the magazine had been requesting. We'll see if it is what they wanted since they didn't give me any guidelines.  Anyway, glad to have that done.

I've put the first load of laundry in and have 2 more to go!

My cleaning girl is coming again tomorrow, but there's not a lot to do.  Hi to all and I hope everyone has a good day.  It's in the 40's here, but sunny.  Still a shock from FL.  Sharon

Marilyn

I just got back from delivering all the paperwork necessary to the accountant so they can file our taxes. I had to get the Social security 1099's still haven't received them in  the mail.
