Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Evening, EveryBuddie!

Mary....YIKES on that pollen. Incredible numbers.

Darlene...whooo...way too hot for me.

Jeanne...hope you've got things working again.  Geez...a cut line...you'd think Comcast would know that, but I had the same problem...50,000 here without internet because someone cut the fiber...but the "support person" in Colorado, he said, didn't have a clue!

Sharon...I like the "bells and whistles" available now on our cars.  Makes driving so much safer for me, I think.

Marilyn...enjoy your teaching about Furry Friends.

Sue...I'm glad you've got Eddie now.

Bubble...Hi to you.

It's been a busy three days.  Tuesday we met with the new oncologist and I think he'll be ok.  He's not as friendly as the TX oncologist, but he explained things well, and explained why he would not recommend the radiation we thought Ray would have.  He believes, and we came to agree, that he should continue the chemo that was successful in reducing the tumor.  He explained there is no cure, and he'd recommend Ray has "maintenance chemos"...chemo like he has now, but with only one chemo component.  This would be after his 6th chemo.  The goal is survival.  The good news is that Ray can get the chemo here in our local hospital. This first one with this hospital in CR, had to be done there at their cancer center, so we did that today.  Tomorrow he goes to the hospital here for a Neulasta shot.  He'll have his next chemo, then on May 1.

The weather driving down was horrible.  Cold...temp at 35, heavy rains and very strong winds...30-50 mph out of the east. As we went south, trucks passing me would literally cover me with water.   I ran some errands while Ray was in the infusion area, and came back chilled to the bone. The Nurses there were terrific.

It's raining here again...so strong you can hear it hitting the windows.  I thought maybe it was sleet.  It sounded like that.

I think it'll be an early night for us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEANNE!   :hb2:  :hb3:  :hb2:

Another wintry day here.  Hospital just called...wondered if Ray was unable to make his appt...they had 8:30.  I said we were told 10:30...she said...ok...that'll  be fine.  Lots of confusion over appt days and times.  I found it interesting that the nurses double checked each other on all the chemo drugs.  They all wore voice things that could call for a "doublecheck" and someone ...another RN...would appear.

Plumber coming this afternoon to redo shower thing to a moveable up and down spray thing.

We're to go out for supper tonight with our 2 couples.

Jane

maryz

jane, too bad about the mixup on times, but it was our experience that chemo places are great to accommodate you, if at all possible.  And the nurses are super.  If we had any complaints (other than having to be there in the first place, obviously), it was that they always kept the place so cold.  You'll love the shower thing-y.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEANNE!

I just talked to my CPA.  I hadn't gotten my returns to file and hadn't heard from her, and frankly, I was beginning to panic.  She's had a lot of trouble with mine this year, trying to find a price of something from long ago, which just surfaced.  Anyhow, she's going to bring the stuff this afternoon, and I'll just have to go to the post office in the morning.  At least, I can stop hyperventilating over it.  I've never been this late sending stuff in before.

Whew, Mary!  I HATE dealing with taxes.  But, when I complain, I hear my Dad's voice in my head, saying he was always ok to pay income taxes...it meant he'd made enough money to have to pay.  He lived during the depression, of course, and remembered those awful days.

Raymond got his Neulasta shot and we learned he's to have one each week for the next two weeks, too.  Another detail we just learned.  But, if it boosts his immunity and helps keep down the risk of infection, we can go up to the hospital here every week.

We had lunch downtown at our remodeled Olive that Deli.  I also wanted to close out an account we'd opened when we had CDs at a credit union. I was a bit disturbed to learn that I couldn't remove the $25.00 because Raymond was the primary name on the account.  It said Raymond OR Jane.  So, what the heck is the purpose of the OR?

Laundry in and glad to be out of the wind and occasional snow flurry.

jane

maryz

I agree with you and your dad, jane. I'm not complaining about paying them (although I might wince a little bit).  I was just antsy about not having them paid a week or more ago.   ;)

My partner and I came in third today, and got 0.24 MP.  That with my having had two 10-high hands. It's all in the comparison against the other pairs.

Sharon just emailed me and she can't get in, so I don't know if it's a regional problem or?  I notice a lot of our posters aren't here.

Jane.

Marilyn

I'm here no problem for me to get in.We re getting ready to go to dinner.

<y Freckles is having an issue with one of her legs, She is crying a little bit but still wants to go for walks, she limps a little too. Been going on for three days now. I will take her to the vet next week. Monday we have a school assignment so it will be   in the afternoon that I take her if she is still complaining.

Form are signed.  Checks are written.  Envelopes addressed.  I was at the post office when it opened at 8:30, and all taxes are in the hands of the USPS!  Hooray - 2018 taxes done!!!

SharonE

Well, wonder of wonders, I got in!

Marilyn, sorry to hear Freckles has a sore leg. Are you sure it isn't a sore paw?  Give her love pats from me. Bunny says "Arf, arf!"

Mary, I know the relief of getting the taxes done and out.  I got ours from the CPA on Wed, signed the forms ad faxed them back to them and got a notice yesterday that they have been electronically filed, so I'm relieved too.

Jane, it sounds like the new oncologist has a different program from the first.  I hope it works for him.  I also hope the Neulasta doesn't cause any problems. If you remember, Lorraine had a terrible time with it, but then everyone is different and reacts differently.

SharonE

Somehow, I must have hit the POST button. Didn't intend to.  Bunny had her annual this week and the blood test came back almost normal.  Liver reading last year was 800, only 100 this time. However, she does have a UTI. I suspected as much. She's on an antibiotic again and is thrilled, because it comes wrapped in a small piece of deli turkey, her favorite thing in the world!

John got the garage cleaned yesterday. We're raining again today. Lots of thunder from time to time. This is to continue until sometime Sunday. Temps in the 70's though.

Mary, congrats on the points! High pollen here too. My car is yellow/green!

Jeanne good luck with your devices! I've got problems with mine too.

No particular plans for today.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...so glad to see you got in today.

It's an ok day...but the wind still makes the temps bitterly cold.

The plumber got the shower head fixed as Ray wanted and will get us dual heat and ac units for the Family Room and Kitchen.
Then the man who did paint and wall paper for us years ago stopped by and he'll do the woodwork again and a couple of rooms.
What a relief to get him again. He's so busy and doesn't advertise...so thrilled he'll do it.  He may do in sections, and that's fine with us. We have no deadline...just want everything freshened up.

Ray didn't feel well during the night, and I suspect either the deepfried fish he had or the Neulasta shot. He was ok when he woke up this morning, so all is good.

I need to make a run to the grocery store and then going to be a slug for the rest of the day.

Jeanne...the"NEW" doesn't work for me like it did before this latest update.  I have found I click UPDATED TOPICS and then I click on the last page...227 here. It's the page with the latest posts.  Yes, I have read most, but I scroll down until I come to the new-to-me ones.

Another cold day here.  We're going to the Masons breakfast, and then home to have a "no work" day.

The painter called and then stopped by, so we're happy that's set up.  He left me a huge paint samples thing to pick out the colors I want.  He said he wondered if we would be ok with doing it in sections around other jobs he has with deadlines...like the funeral home makeover...and I'm fine with that. We have no deadline.

Have a Blessed Palm Sunday.

Jane

SharonE

A good Palm Sunday to you all. We had a lovely service today with several musical instruments in aaddition to t lhe choir and bells.  Unfortunately, John had a financial meeting at 12:15 and didn't know about it, so I had to wait on him.  I did go to the ATM we're having to use now while they build a new bank neSSar us.  Then I read my SS lesson for next week and then phlayed Words with Friends with my daughters on my cell phone.  His meeting was about an hour. When he got out, we picked up an RX at Publix and then 2 roast beef sandwiches at Arbys.

Need to go put some laundry in, but that's about it.

Jane, I hope Ray doesn't continue to have problems.  It is very grey  HERE with severe weather predicted.  Temp is 72 for a high but in 60's tomorrow.

Hi to all.  Sharon

SharonE

Jane, forgot to comment on your painting. I'd really like to get some done too.  None done since right before we moved in.

maryz

I don't think I posted yesterday - it was very quiet.  I hope everybody came through the storms all right.  I had about 1.5" of rain yesterday morning and really fierce winds all day. But nothing severe in our immediate area.  Terrible stuff in East Texas this time.

And, even though I don't pay much attention to golf, who could help but be thrilled by Tiger Woods' comeback at The Master's.  Hooray for him!

Happy Tax Day, Buddies!

On my iPad going on S and F I still have to signin all the time. ( not on desktop ) to get in just now on iPad it took 6 times putting in password before I got in.
JeanneP

SharonE

Mary, we had lots of weather threats but little rain and a lot of wind gusts, but that was it.  We were lucky. CLT got worse.

I agree, Mary, I was thrilled Tiger won yesterday.  I don't have much respect for his morals, but his golf is something else!

Did I mention that Bunny is on antibiotics for a UTI again, but only had one leak.  I'm so happy that her liver  has returned to almost normal.  She will be 11 on Saturday.

Sunny day today with temps in the 60's. Happy with that.  Sharon
Not much else going on here.  Sorry Jeanne is having problems with sign-in.  Did you put "forever" on the place to keep signed in?

JeanneP

yes I always tap the forever button. Does not work for me..
I don't think I like this new curved keyboard.  I just never look at the keys and been a pretty fast typist of 45 years at least. My fingers just not hitting the correct keys. I think supposed to turn fingers in and shoulders out instead of hands straight up. My wrist were begging to hurt after much typing and they said the curving would help.
I thought would put my old one back but I guess that the wired one will not go onto the new computer. Has to be wireless. They sure know how to make money . Just like printers cheaper but ink doubles in price. I can't find the long cartridge for my Dell printer. Loved that one. Lasted ages and just black.

SharonE

Glad all are doing well. Good luck on your tests tomorrow, Darlene.

Jeanne, I empathize with you. John's computer is completely fouled up and mine has problems too. I have a call in to our computer guru. He is able, with our permission, to access our computerss from his office and fix them.

I have to leave in about a half hour to go to the audiologist for a recheck on my new hearing aids.  I think I will stop by Pike's nursery on the way home to buy some flowers for my pots.

My cleaning girl was here today, so no house work for me!   Sunny and 70+ here.
Hope it's nice where you all are.  Sharon

Marilyn

Good late morning Buddies.

Jane it is very wet here in the PNW interspersed with small amount of  no rain.

Freckles is resting here at my side. She is not allowed to do much else for at least a week then will go back to the vet for more meds in her ears and a recheck of her pain  to see if she will possibly get some Acupuncture for the arthritis and to two bad discs. I cancelled all her visits for the rest of the month except for the last Wednesday at the cancer center. Vet said no stairs and no jumping in or out of the car. I have to pick her up to help her into or out of the car.She is going to be 11  in a couple of months.

SharonE

Marilyn, I'm so sorry Freckles is having such problems. I hope she responds quickly to the meds and rest.  BTW, I'm having trouble with my phone, so if I don't play on WWF, don't think I don't want to.

I have to solve some compuyrt problems and then I'm going to try to get some flowers planted in my pots.  Hi to all. Sharon

jane

Sharon...the poor flowers that WalMart has in already are having to be all hauled inside or kept inside since it's just too cold to even think of planting anything in the ground here.

Sue...I hope she can get in soon.

Darlene...so many terrible weather-related incidents all over the country...tornadoes in the south, blizzards here in the midwest, etc.

Mary...hope your weather calms down.

I played bridge today and came in first...but only 4 of us.

My tax lady called about a 1099 I didn't have this year I had last year, and I could check the website and not see it.  Called TIAA-CREF and it was a one-time minor account ...all of $57.00 I took last year to close it...and so had a tax form last year, but none this year.  She said our taxes would be ready soon...as soon as the double-checker was done. We got a small refund from fed, but it'll only lower our estimates for next year as we roll it over for that.  So much for that "Big Tax Cut"  >:(  :idiot2:

We have strong t'storms heading this way, so I better sign off and unplug.

Stay safe, Buddies!!
