Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and am now waiting for Eddie to arrive to take me to the library and to Kroger.  I don't need much at Kroger and we'll probably get both the library and Kroger finished quickly, so we'll have time for another cup of coffee when we get back.  I'm hoping he'll have some good news about his partner, Dan.

It's going to be another scorcher here in Auburn.  So I probably won't get out to walk until we get some late afternoon shade.  It's just too hot to walk uphill this morning!  The weatherman has predicted temps in the high 90's today.  And I don't want to get out walking before Eddie gets here.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

JeanneP

Well. I think fall has arrived. Had to turn furnace on this morming. Up to 62 today and I am waiting for afternoon so can get some running around done. Will get my jackets out. Nine and sunny though.
I don't get the bone dens done now Quit 4 years ago. So far all I feel is lack of Muscle strength. Little in my hands. I never wanted to take the meds. Fact every one I know who started years ago taking them seem to bhe the ones having bad knees.hips and other things and yet they still take the meds.
Now I checked up on the Losartan which I went on 4 months ago. Seem to be doing O.K after adding some Water pill type to it.
JeanneP

JeanneP

My posting just went crazy. Would not let me keep typing so here I am again.  Now they told me that just one supplies of the LOsarten Had the recall and so I will stay with it.  Prior to being changed to that 4 months ago I was on the Metropolol and no drug store was able to get them so that was why change. Now I hear it available again. it always seems that it is not all the suppliers by from one place and lots make the same drug a different way. So far this recall has been on TV for 9 different BP drugs in last year. They do say the powder that they don want them using is the one that is in the Drug on the TV now that all the stores have taken of the shelf. One for ingestion. All generics have some powder mixed in them as filler. I am trying not to take any new drugs  other than BP: from now on.
Now they took my Blood last week and it was very low Sodium again and told me get more salt and less water. After 2 weeks I will be back as told them I want a full panel Blood draw them and they said would do it. Been 2 years and I like them. They check everything. So so far now BP right were should be. watch what eat and keep back to weight I got down to. No more dizzy type feeling. So will go get the flu shot and relax for the winter.
Hope everyone will soon be over their operations and back in their home feel better. Proud of you Jane. You are handling things great.
I do need to get my Estate things all put in order now and get papers back into Lock box.
Think i can now get out and do my running around.
JeanneP

Jeanne....only one pharma being recalled is NOT true. Whoever told you that isn't up to date on what's happening with Losartan, at least according to WebMD.

https://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/valsartan-losatran-bp-med-recalls-2018-19#1-2

They list 6 companies who have recalled Losartan, some as recently as Sept. 2019.  Since there have been so many recalls of it, and I have NO idea what company WalMart is using when I get my refills, I asked for something else.

I've been a busy beaver this morning.  I defrosted my chest freezer and you should have seen me and my "tools" to get the job done: a shop vac to vacuum up the ice and water, a heat gun, a spatula, my "reacher" to get a cloth to wipe it out, and a towel to dry the sides and bottom.  I just needed a tool belt to be Ms. Fixer-Upper!  So, since I was so motivated, I also cleaned the filter on the shop vac....ugh....nasty...and so then had to shower PDQ....and then tackled the refrig freezer....much easier, and moved some things out to the garage freezer since there was now room there.  BIG JOB done for me!

jane

Marilyn

Jane The Dr mentions that the arch might fall and make me flat footed but didn't say anythung about numbness,.I am already flat footed on my right foot.

jane

He'd surely tell you if that was a possibility.

jane

It's definitely fall here in middle America....49 degrees and gloomy and rain, rain, rain. Only 100% chance for today.   :2funny:

I've done a few (very few) domestic chores this morning...changed the bed, set up my tea service upstairs, gone through a small cabinet and thrown away a bunch of old tapes and CDs etc.  That may be about all that gets accomplished today...not feeling up to it today...so may just watch football and drink tea and eat Eng. muffins with a new jelly I found in Ohio...pear cinnammon.  It's yummy...or maybe a sandwich later with avocado.  Yep...may eat my way through this Saturday.   :idiot2:

SCFSue

Good morning Every Buddy.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen and need to get dressed to walk in my neighborhood before it gets unbearably hot.  We're supposed to get temps in the high 90's by noon!

Jane, you've been busy!  That pear cinnamon jelly sounds yummy.  I'll look for it at Kroger next Friday when Eddie takes me there for grocery shopping.  I bought a small jar of strawberry jelly (made by Kroger) on Friday when we went to the store.  So far haven't opened it as I had a bit of marmalade left and want to use that up so I can wash out the jar and put it in my recycle bin.

I hope every Buddy looking in is ready for a nice day.  Take care and if you're having high heat like we are here in Auburn, stay cool!

Sue

Marilyn

The podiatrist will tell me all about the surgery and after effects when I see him again on the 22nd.
Today I am hurting so bad in both feet it hurts to even stand up. I am so glad I got everything  done already today. I Went to Walmart, did a Therapy dog visit and took Freckles for a littl short walk so she could go potty.

JeanneP

Jane
No it was not one pharm. it was one company that was making the drug. On he one before Lasorton that I was on I checked all the drug stores and none could get them. Think they sre back now. I will just stick to lasarton one for now. My drug store says theirs are o.k.

Not bad here today but stayed home. Trying to clean lots of things out. What a rat pack I have been. Thing are showin up buried for 30 years. One big case full of Christmas stuff from when kids still young. Boxes. Wrap paper. Even boxes cards. All ready to give to salt and light. Lot more clothes for them. I found 8 sets of sweat sets and lots of jeans. All still fit. Found 5 sets of sheets. Here I was ready to go buy new tomorrow. Things with new tabs still on.

Jane. I need to get my freezer cleaned out also. It is in a outside shed . I can't reach the bottom of it .i keep think should now give away. I spread gal. Jugs of water along the bottom su stuff is up higher. I should buy a new fridge for indoors and I think I could do without the freezer.

Once I get my place back the way I had it I am not going to be buying things I really don't need again. I have been thinking I need to move out to a newer place and start fresh. Now I think it is looking at all the things I need to do here but I still know it is the best place to live for me.

Just need to get better organized again.
JeanneP

SharonE

Organization is something we all need to do at this age. We all tend to pile stuff up.

Jane, good for you on your freezer. I need to do the same but my back won't let me work for long.

I went to church & SS and talked to Lori and Brian who are both back from Italy. A great trip for both of them.

Since then, I haven't done much. It's cool here today too. Yea! Gotta go get dinner in a minute.  Cleaning girl comes Tuesday. Hope I can find some stuff she stuck somewhere while I was gone.

I'm going to call and make an appt for the 3rd Independent Living place for this Friday. I have a back appt for Wed and a couple people coming out Thursdayo--one for pests and one for our ice maker.  Sue, I hope it cools down for you soon, that Jeanne's meds don't cause problems and that Marilyn's poor feet stop hurting.  Sharon

Marilyn

Yesterday my feet hurt so bad I didn't go to church. I  could barely stand let alone walk. I have a friend  bringing a  wheelchair this week. I will get dome practice in on how to go about doing my morning routine with the animals and getting around the house. I will be able to see what has to be moved for me to get around.

maryz

Marilyn, I'm so sorry about your pain.  When your feet hurt, nothing works right.  Good luck with the wheelchair.

I have my first post-hospital doctor visit this afternoon.  Kate is still here to take me.  But I'm doing a lot for myself now (even if she is still babying me a lot).  :smitten:

The heat seems to have broken.  Our high yesterday was a more seasonable 75, and there is a light rain this morning.  It's not enough to break our drought, but welcome nonetheless.

Happy Monday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up for a while, had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen and finished my morning up the hill and down walk.  I'm thinking Tim might come by this morning, but not sure about that.  It's going to be another scorcher here in Auburn--temps up to 95-100 today--YUCK!  I hope Every Buddy is feeling well this morning and HOORAY for Mary's post!

Mary, it's great to see your post and I hope the post-hospital visit is really positive!  And hey, be thankful for the babying!  We don't get that very often.  Your girls have really come through for you--I know you appreciate them.

Marilyn, do you have any idea what has caused the foot pain and I hope you get some relief soon.  Will you be using the wheel chair inside and out?  Thoughts and prayers for relief from the pain from here in Auburn.

Sharon, I'm glad you felt well enough to get to church yesterday.  It's nice that Lori and Brian both enjoyed a trip to Italy.  I hope you are not over doing the house work, cooking and cleaning.  A relapse wouldn't be a bit fun!

Jane, I hope your teams won yesterday.  Our AU Tigers took a big old whipping down at Florida Saturday.  It was unbearably hot and our young quarter back was under pressure every time he had the ball!  His Dad was our quarterback back in the day when AU was playing really well.  I think he will do well, but he needs some adjustments made to the plays, etc.  I hope you're having a good day, too.

Hello to Jeanne and Every Buddy looking in.  Have a nice day, Buddies.  I hope it's cooler where you live than it is here.  We're having HOT summer weather still!

Sue

Good Monday morning...cooler this morning..65 degrees ...made walking so pleasant....Mary and Sharon...so happy yall are healing and slowly getting back to your normal routine....isn't family wonderful when you need a helping hand...Marlyin hope you get relief with your foot/feet pain...Sue be careful walking in the heat...Jane hope you are doing well this morning....Jeanne...I to will discuss the B/P recall with my Dr my next appt which is in couple weeks...I don't want to take it if there's a cancer possibility.....Hi to any I missed...have wonderful day

SCFSue

Darlene, we have lots of large oak trees in our neighborhood and if I get outside early enough, the streets are still shady--and today I did get a shady walk.  The only problem with my walk, though, is that lots of it is uphill and I do start puffing toward the end!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy--and stay cool if you can!

Hi Gals, I'm glad to hear Mary is gradually getting back to normal. Marilyn, the wheel chair can be a wonderful thing.  If you have trouble getting around furniture, etc, take off the foot rests.
It's nice to see the temps dropping, but we got some much needed rain Sat night that brought down a lot of leaves which I hate since Bunny drags them in on her fur. I have no plans for today other than a couple loads of laundry. I'm still taking it easy and hope Mary is too.  Have a great day everyone. Sharon

Sue the pain is from the heel spurs in both feet. My surgery is scheduled for November 1 for the left foot. After that heals then the right foot. It looks like the right foot will have to wait until after Christmas since I go  to Gilbert's house in California for Christmas every year. Not gonna miss that, I need my right foot to drive the car.

Good to see both Mary and Sherry posting again.

Sherry I plan to get any furniture that will be in the way of the wheelchair ,moved and create the paths I will need ahead of time. I am mostly concerned  about cleaning the litter boxes, preparing the food for the animals and getting breakfast for Keith,

On Saturday morning I  discovered that  one of the damn cats had peed on ,my electric stove top. I got it all cleaned up  and left it. Yesterday I turn on the burner and had to go reset the breaker switch. Well I started to fry the bacon and  something went POOF and made a loud noise, threw the break again and I saw some puffs of smoke coming out of the place where the dial was for the back burner. I immediately  turned everything off and  closed the breaker for the stove. I am so glad that I have other appliances to use instead of the stove. I have my air fryer and instant pot a toaster oven, and microwave. Even still have my George Foreman grill.  I can do a lot with the Instant Pot and Air fryer.

It was a cool 44 here this morning when I left for Cedar Rapids for a rheumatology appt.  I got a lot of errands finished up before I needed to get to the doc office.  Then the unusual happened...they called me in BEFORE my appt. time!  No changes to my prednisone...she left it up to me if I wanted to continue at 2 mg daily or wean myself off. She's ok with it either way.  I don't want giant cell arteritis which can develop in those of us who've had polymyalgia rheumatica.  https://www.hopkinsvasculitis.org/types-vasculitis/giant-cell-arteritis/

jane

Shirley

Buzzing through & had to giggle out loud at your mishap with the cat, Marilyn.... one of mine shorted out my navigator Shark so nothing to do but throw the whole thing away. I cleaned it up but damage was done to the charger & guess battery in the unit. The new one wears a poster board "bib" over the whole power unit (elastic holding it in place so easy on & off).

I just got back from a few days in Missouri where I donated old school books from my gr-mother's house, Mcguffey readers & other interesting ones with my gr-mother's, father's & siblings names in... from 1880s-1920?  Then on to my class luncheon. It was hot-hot the first couple days & then cooled down to almost chilly so had to take clothes for all seasons. Still cleaning out the mess & doing laundry because cats get sick at the thought of traveling. No kidding, Tom threw up before I even started the engine... in the driveway!

Mary, I've been checking on you every day to see how you are doing. So relieved to see your post today & know you are on the mend. The worst is over but those ribs will hurt for 6 weeks & all of a sudden they won't. I wish I had done re-hab & think I might be better yet, but Cas was in no condition to drive me & Dr wouldn't let me drive for a full 30 days.

Better run, need to stop at the store for milk, wanted to cook oatmeal this morning but no milk & I do put milk & sugar in my oatmeal! Filled the gas tank on the motorhome, ready for the next trip later in the month. Family reunion this time. Called the roofer to ask when he would have the guys out to put new gutters up... and called the people that installed the furnace & AC for the winter check.... can't come until Nov.18 so I won't wait THAT long, will have #1 son come check it out & put in the new humidifier filter & pay him what they would have charged. I insist on doing that because the other 2 kids are not around to do it & he will make time to help everyone but nobody else offers to pay him. He is retired but was called back to help do what others couldn't do, he baby sits & hauls his grands everywhere & teaches 2 engineering classes to grad students. He loves helping the kids & has gotten such nice reviews, even full faculty status... lousy pay for all the time he puts in, but something he enjoys. Anyway, "they say", if you have a job to do, ask a busy person to do it & true in his case.

Jane, by the time I was on prednisone 3 days I was so swelled up my arms stuck out (not down) & legs like tree trunks. I am amazed when I hear anyone can take it without a reaction. Mine was for a brown recluse spider bite & the doctor had tried 2 other meds that didn't help. Ended up doing my own thing when the Dr wanted to remove the whole area with surgery. I soaked the place with Epsom salt every few hours all day long & took vitamin B-1 (100mg a day) & first the red went away, size of my whole hand, then scab fell off (size of an egg) & I don't have a scar or anything, The Dr was stunned & explained the next year when she diagnosed me with shingles, she asked what was I going to do since the same meds as for brown spider bite. I used my own home remedy & fixed those shingles. I don't take the B-1 every day but only when I feel those nerve endings getting wired up. Kicks them before I break out.

Onward, still have that trip to the store & then start hauling the clean laundry back to the motorhome to clean up this room. About wheel chairs... when my son had braces on both legs for 2 years he used a skate board to roll around the house on his tummy... but don't think y'all would like that so how about those "rollators" with seats?  All designs & after being exposed to a wheel chair in the house, would be easier to navigate one of those. Enough of my suggestions/remedies.

Wishing everyone better days, I am looking forward to the cooler temps!  Trees were not starting to change here or in MO yet, but read someone said they were gorgeous in CO already.  Shirley

Good 46 degree morning...sunny and delightful.  My fall allergies are in full swing, making sleeping last night difficult.  I suspect not much is going to get done today.   ::)

Have a peaceful Tuesday.

Good morning ....it was a nice 56 here this morning...great for walking...but will warm up by Thursday...Texas weather...Jane how are you doing on your new BP med?...enjoy your day buddies

jane

Darlene...I don't really know yet.  I've only been on it for 2 or 3 days. My BP was 156/76 at rheumatologist's yesterday, but I blame a lot of that on 2 things...1) it's always high in a doc office and 2) they don't know how to take BP correctly.  They let your arm dangle unsupported, they have it lower than your heart, etc.  If it's not taken correctly, how does a person know for sure what their BP is?   That's my biggest gripe against medical assistants.

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  My cleaning lady is here and is busy cleaning everything.  I helped her change my sheets and I'll put them in the washer shortly.  I have bridge here tomorrow, so this is a great time for her to work here.  She comes every 2 weeks and I can keep it somewhat tidy when she isn't here.

Sharon, we're still having temps in the high 90's.  I try to get outside for my morning walk before it gets up that high, but sometimes I'm huffin' and puffin' long before I get to the top of the hill!  I'm glad to hear that you are taking it "somewhat" easy.  Try to take it easy!

Jane, lucky you to have cool temps this morning.  So far it's not "too" hot, but will be before I get dressed and out for my morning walk. I hope you have a nice day and are able to get all your chores done early so you can have some time for fun things--like bridge with your friends!  BTW, we're expecting temps in the high 90's again today!

Shirley, you are one busy woman!  What fun to have a family reunion coming up soon.  Both my sisters live elsewhere and although we talk on the phone and e-mail, I don't hear from them very often.  I have been a widow since 2002 and my youngest sister is divorced.  The second sister is on her third husband--this time he's a good one!  I still miss my hubby, but have dated a bit with long time friends.

Not much else to report today.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy--and stay cool if your temps are like mine here in Auburn!

Marilyn, I hope your foot is healed enough so that you can comfortably drive.  I know you must be looking forward to your visit with Gilbert at Christmas.  Will Keith go with you or will you need to get someone to stay with him?  Thoughts and prayers from here for you both.

Sue

Hi Gals, I just got back from the dr. Another UTI + a fungal infection in the crease of the groin. Also told me what antacid to change to since I quit Prevacid a yr or so ago and have been taking Pepcid. Now that isn't working, so trying Maalox generic now. When John stopped at the drug store, he also got me an add-on quad-cane base for my cane since Mo will be trying me on the can Thursday. It gives a little more stability.

My cleaning girl was here today too.

Marilyn, good idea to open up paths for the wheelchair. Ewww on the cat peeing on the stove! Good you have other options.

Jane, glad it's cool for you. I never heard of large cell arthritis, but then, mine isn't rheumatoid.

Darlene, good you've cooled down too and can get your walks in. I can't believe Sue is still at 90 degrees.

Sue, nice your cleaning lady was there today too.

I have a friend coming to visit this afternoon. Actually, she was a friend of Ms Frances, and we became friends that way.f

Shirley, nice to have a visit to your home town and later a family reunion. I'm sure your McGuffey readers, etc. were happily received by the school. You must be the queen of home remedies.  None of the drs know much about them. They just want to write a prescription.

Gotta go grab some lunch before my friend comes.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I am hosting my Wednesday bridge group this afternoon.  So I spent way too much time making my favorite cookies (which did not turn out well!) and cleaning up the kitchen.  I also got out card tables and set them up for playing this afternoon.  My cookie recipe is easy to make, but something was not right with them.  They are edible, but not as tasty as they should be.  I'll probably be throwing out the left-overs when the gals go home!

I've not showered or dressed for the day, so need to get to it.  I hope all are well and having a good morning.

Sue

SharonE

John and I just got home. We went to the 3rd and probably last of the retirement homes and put a hold on one of them. No money or contract involved yet. Still digesting, but really liked the apt and the area. It's in a small town called Matthews, SE of Charlotte, about 45 mins from here. John often plays bridge in the area.  After that, I had a back appt and he again said to have the dry needling done + therapy.  On the way home we stopped at Best Buy and bought a new set of landlines as ours were all in the last stages of demise. Of course, they won't be up and running for 7 hours till they are fully charged.  I am totally beat. More tomorrow.

maryz

Sue, hope you got some good cards this afternoon.

Sharon, glad you found one of the retirement communities you liked.  Definitely a plus that it's near where John plays bridge.  Good luck with the decision-making.

jane, are you due to get any of this early snowstorm?  I hope not too bad for your area.

Darlene, glad you're getting some cooler weather.  I know how hot it can be in Texas.

Sue's here to take me to appointments.  We went for a pacemaker check today, and the followup with the surgeon is tomorrow.  She also took me to get a mani/pedi - it was wonderful!  I'm so glad to get the nails tended to.

We're finally getting some almost seasonable weather now - we had a high of 80 today.

Happy Wednesday to all the Buddies!

Sharon. Sounds like you are in the mood to move. That was fast. I have been talking about it for a while.
I just hate thought of it. Been comfy here so long. But like now when things need doing and can't get good help that is when I think should move. Hard to find type of place I would like. I could not be in one where the dining was involved. I just still love cooking and would not like going of menu or eating around a lot of people. But time wil tell.
Now what is the name of the one you have chosen. We can pick it up on line.
Do you now have your house on the market?
