Sharon, I love my two (2) Samsung SmartTV's.  One is 3 years old, the other is probably 6 or 7.  Getting a new TV set up is not a task for an amateur.  My daughter is the TV, Phone, Computer guru, and can set up most anything.  Hope you can get the picture to your liking.  (Hint: it may not be the TV, could be the Spectrum...don't tell them I told you this)  Always remember, if you make changes to the "settings" write down what the settings numbers were, and then the new ones, so you can go back to where it was if the new ones don't work as you'd like it.

Cottoncandy

Good morning...guess I'd better check in...our temps are back to normal...warm and increasing humidity...yard is greening up tho...been taking care of bird feeders and put up the hummer one...Hope everyone that wanted vaccine..has it...I haven't got one yet...we have 0 cases here right now...here's wishing everyone a great week.....

jane

Darlene...I hadn't realized you've not yet got the vaccine.  I hope it's soon, even if no new cases in your area.  We continue to have new cases and we're still waiting for spring.  Lots of snow gone, but still lots to go.

We really can't safely put anything in the ground until the middle of May.  Winter hangs on a long time up here.

It's warming up, though, and that's wonderful...maybe into 50s or a bit higher now.

My weird ear ache seems to have disappeared.  Who knows why....one of those goofy things.

Not much else new here.  Niece says she's coming down to be with me for my second Covid shot at the end of the month, so that'll be nice.

Still waiting on bank info so I can dump all of this on the accountant.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Jane...on the list for vaccine...they don't come here often.......

jane

Oh, Darlene, I know what the wait is like when you're "on the list."  Does HEB give any of the vaccines?  I ended up at a grocery chain in the nearest large city ..HyVee...for my shot.  They had an RN in a small office off the pharmacy.  Where we were in S. Texas, HEB was really the ONLY grocery store, except for WalMart.

SharonE

Thanks, Tome. I did get it all adjusted to my husband's preferences, so think I'm done with it. Didn't write anything down, but would have been a good idea.

Darlene, I sure hope you get called soon for a shot. So much stress till you get it.

Mary, loved your picture on FB. Looked like you had a lovely visit with the girls.

I talked to Brian and Lori yesterday for quite a while. Nice. They call pretty often.

Jane, I finally got the tax info from our financial guy, so need to finish things up this afternoon and maybe get them in the mail tomorrow.

Nothing else going on here.  Hi to all. Sharon

maryz

All good here. Got to visit once with Margaret and Kate, and once with just Kate. And then
we got to Skype with Alden (the Atlanta great-grandson). So a great weekend!  Alden is 11 months old now, and almost walking. He pulls up all the time and cruises, and uses a kiddie-walker. (Looks like some of the old ladies around my place.  ;D

Darlene, I hope they can get to your area soon with vaccine.

Sharon, it's always good to get through the set-up stuff with new electronics.

The girls did a bit of furniture re-arranging for me - and that's a good thing.

Happy on-coming spring, Buddies!

We got our 2nd shot yesterday afternoon .  Later in the day my heart was racing .  It only lasted about 4 hours & I had no energy .   I didn't feel the shot & asked the woman giving the shot if it was over .  I told her she was very good at her job !.

jane

Alpiner....Hurrah for Shot #2!

Beautiful day here...in high 40s, so I took one car that was filty out for a wash at an automatic car wash and picked up a few groceries.  Then home to do the floor mats.  They get terrible over the winter.

Doing some computer work and now going to take a break.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

jane

Good Tuesday Morning, Buddies!

Beautiful sunny day and the snow is slowly disappearing...mostly now where it was shoveled or blown to clear driveway or sidewalks...or large parking lots!

Nothing exciting here...I took the dirty mats from my car and have them in the sink in the basement...needed a second scrubbing.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a former co-worker for coffee after her dentist appt here in town.  She lives 20 miles away so we often meet on her "dentist day."

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good Morning from the left coast.Yesterday Imade  2 trips to Goodwill with all kinds of blankets, stuffed animals and mattress pads. We will never use or need those things. I now have 3 empty Rubbermaid tubs that those things were in since I moved from Ca 12 years ago. So it all needs to go. The stuffed animals were from the attic I have no idea whose they were. Little by little I am getting it done.

maryz

So hard, Marilyn! Mental and emotional as well as physical.  Hang in there!

jane, glad you're finally thawing out.

My Jean (youngest) has an appointment to get her first shot on Thursday. She's diabetic, and reservations in TN just opened up for folks of any age with such medical conditions (she's "only" 59). That'll get all of my girls with at least one shot accomplished!

"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Hurrah for Marilyn and making a dent in her huge task!

Mary...great news on the "kid" getting her shot!

Things are opening up here, too.  Hospital advertised this morning they have appts for anyone 65+.  So, it seems like those of us above 65 have apparently gotten our shots somewhere or the other.  So, it's also open here now for those 18-64 with preexisting stuff.

We're to have some rain today, so that'll pretty well take care of the snow that's left...for now, anyway.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals. Mary, wonderful your girls are getting shot. None of mine are eligible yet. I will be so glad when they are. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.

Jane, hurrah for the snow disappearing! And the car clean!

Marilyn, little by little, box by box you'll get it done.

Alpiner, glad you got your 2nd shot.

Yesterday was Thomas's birthday, so called him to wish him a good one. They had flown down to Melanie's in FL to celebrate it and get spoiled.

Things are opening up little by little here. They are letting 25 eat in the dining room now at each seating. We went last night and it was nice. They also said we could start playing cards now, so we had 2 tables of bridge yesterday! The 1st I'd played in a year. Fun.

Mailed in the tax stuff to the accountant yesterday. So glad to get that done. My accountant wanted it by 3/15, but didn't get our brokers 1099 till last weekend! Just hope it arrives on time. Sent it Priority from the PO. Since selling our house, those monies are now invested, so it is much more complicated than in the past.

I think John and I are going to take Bunny for a long walkie in a bit. It's a beautiful day and in the 70's.

Take care all.  Sharon

Our "summer" weather...in 60s...has left and we're back to our normal 30s and low 40s.
Last night we had thunderstorms and a lot of rain, so a lot of snow disappeared.

I started a new borrowed book this morning, but have sent it back. It turned out to be about human trafficking and sexual abuse...ugh...no thank you.

I've stripped the beds and have clean sheets out and will have my cleaning lady help me put them on.  I've bought bamboo ones with straps on the corners of the fitted and that helps them stay on.  I also like the feel  of them.

I should walk, but too much wind and joint pain.

Take care and stay safe,

jane

maryz

I'm with you on the sex-trafficking books, jane. I like a good "clean" murder mystery, but I don't read or watch those with torture/crazy serial killers/etc. Not my thing.

Rain is a good thing to help get rid of snow - but it does have to get warm enough for that.  ;)

Sharon, I know you're glad to be able to get more active in your new community now. I hope you didn't overdo your walk with John and Bunnie.

I've got some good stuff happening this weekend - for a sad reason. Sue's father-in-law has died in a town near Chattanooga (not unexpected). So she and her kids will be there this weekend for the funeral. I doubt that I'll get over there for the funeral or visitation, but I think at least some of them will come over here (about 1 1/2 hours away) to visit with me briefly. I haven't seen my granddaughters since last July, and even longer since I've seen my grandson. And with the restrictions relaxing, I hope I really get to "see" them!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Jane, sorry the cold and rain have returned. No fun for us with joint pains.  It's still in the 70's here. Had a lovely walk yesterday. There are benches at the far end of the lake, so I usually sit there while John takes Bunny farther on a rougher path. There were some other ladies there, so we chatted while I waited on him. Had 2 mallards in the lake. Also saw my deer in the woods later in the evening.

Mary, hope it works out for you to see the grands. I know the feeling of the long distance.  Got a picture on FB of Leyton, my 8 yr old great grand up at bat at Little League try-outs. He's quite athletic. Almost 2 yrs since I've seen him.

I haven't done a whole lot today. Picked up a new Spanish workbook and have been looking at it. But that's about it.  I agree with you all on the gory, abusive novels. Hard to find interesting ones that don't have some aspect of that though.

I'm taking Bunny in to get her stitches out tomorrow morning. I'll be glad to have that done. She seems to be pretty normal now.

Hi to all. Sharon

jane

ADT, my alarm company, came as they'd promised, and the tech upgraded something in the main unit.  I also had asked him to change all the batteries and he did that as well....door alarms, smoke alarms, motion sensors, and my two fobs.  He did all of that in 30 minutes.  The batteries had never been changed and we've had the system for 8 yrs.

I emailed about the bank statement I had not received...seems it was mailed March 3, but I haven't gotten it!  She emailed it to me and I printed out the 22 pages.  I couldn't have missed a mailing that thick.  I called @nd got an appt with the accountant for Monday.  I'm anxious to get it in to her.

Winter is return Monday...with cold and snow!

Stay safe,
Jane

SharonE

Jane, the mail is ridiculous anymore. The important things take forever and just the junk comes through. Glad you were able to get your stuff via email. Since our accountant is in Indianapolis, we had to use the mail. They've been our accountants since we opened our store back in '83, so we trust them. I had done our taxes until the store, but then it was way to complex for me. I have no accounting background.

BTW, I told you that MacComber wrote Chesapeake Cove, but I discovered it was Sheryl Woods. I picked up the 1st book of the series at our library. Good reading, no gore and no explicit sex. She is very similar to MacComber.

I took Bunny to the vet this AM to get her stitches out. She was not happy, but they said everything was healing up well. This was the first time I had driven there by myself. I am so unsure of where things are in this area, but I got there and back with no problem. John was playing bridge in person at the center here. Just social bridge which isn't his thing, but he's gotten to meet some guys this way.

We're going to eat at the dining room again tonight. Makes for a change. Nothing else going on here.  Hi to all. Stay safe.

jane

Hurrah for you driving yourself, Sharon!  You know you can if you have to.

Would you believe the PO just delivered my fat little package from the bank!  It's dated March 2 and took 10 days to go 45 miles straight west.  I emailed my investment lady and told her...and that they might consider the Pony Express the next time. I know that would have been faster.  You're sure right about the PO being royally screwed up with this new jerk they put at the head of it. I'm glad to hear John can still play bridge.  That won't be happening here, I guess.  Two gals have moved to an assisted living place, another is in the Nursing Home.  Time does take its toll on us.

I did read the Cedar Cove series and I've seen the film version on Netflix and Hallmark. Unfortunately, there's only one film season.

We're told BIG storm coming Sunday and Monday...and that probably means it'll rain a bit.  Usually the warnings are far more scary than what actually happens.

I got out and to the PO this morning to mail back an item I'd purchased online but that doesn't fit.  I also filled the car with gas and stopped in WalMart for some things, then the other grocery ....and am finding Diet Coke with no caffeine impossible to find.

Nothing else exciting here.

Stay masked up, safe, and healthy,

jane

Tomereader1

Jane, I found out months ago that caffeine-free soft drinks have gone by the wayside.  I always drank CF Pepsi.  There hasn't been any in my stores since before the Covid thing, the store managers don't know why they don't get it anymore, and I keep forgetting to phone the Pepsi distributor locally and ask if they'll tell me why.  I even looked for CF Coke, store didn't have that either.  Must be something going on that they prefer not to tell us about!  (Uh, oh, conspiracy theories? LOL!)

jane

Tome...thanks!  I looked and looked and thought I must be missing it.  There was Vanilla Coke, cherry coke, regular coke, no sugar coke, big bottles, reg bottles, cans and tiny cans...but no caffeine free.  I finally found a 12 pack of smaller bottles on one shelf.  Weird.  Guess I'll stick to root beer!

Nice morning here, and then it's all to go haywire tomorrow and Monday.  Life in the upper Midwest!

The restaurant we went to last night was full.  It's in a small town south of me and there were no parking places anywhere on the Main Street in front of this place.

Nursing home announcing they're opening for rescheduled visitors.  That has to be a blessing for those there.

Stay safe and healthy.

Cottoncandy

Hello to everyone...my area was without electricity today...in fact was 8 hrs before it was restored..not sure what happened as the weather isn't a factor..70 and wind....Glad to see most have got their first shot and mabey the second...there's none here..but I still wear mask if I go anywhere...Hi to all looking in...

jane

Yikes, Darlene, on no power and no apparent cause.  I know tornadoes are dancing across the Panhandle of TX, and a supposedly big storm is roaring out of Colorado and Utah.

We've been warned, and my old joints says weather pressures are changing.  I've turned a few battery operated clocks ahead as well as microwave and stove.  I think I'll go up and take a hot shower for these old joints and read in bed.

Take care and stay safe and hoping Darlene can get a shot soon,

jane

maryz

Darlene, glad your power wasn't off too long. Although almost any outage is "too long".

It is great to be able to have visitors "in house" again, even on a limited basis.  But I had a super special day today. So much family and so many hugs.  Margaret & Jean (daughters); Sue & Randy (daughter and son-in-law); granddaughters Alison & Sarah, Alison's husband Joe; grandson and wife Paul & Katherine; granddaughter-in-law Darby and (of course) great-grandson Henry.  What a great afternoon!!!

What a wonderful day for you, Mary!

While our Southern Buddies bask in 60-70-80 degree weather, this Buddie is in a big snow squall!  Yep...down in low 30s and snow, snow, snow.

I started out to tax appt...got out on highway...now covered again, but I have all wheel drive, and was about 5 blocks from home when Tammy called and said we could reschedule for tomorrow if I hadn't left home.  I told her I had left, but cars were sliding around so we rescheduled.  I turned into an unplowed street, go turned around and back home I went!  I've not driven in snow for a long time.  No school here today..remote learning day.

Enjoying my comfy clothes and my fire.

Stay safe

jane

Yep, it was, Mary.  4-7 inches said the noon news.  Snow has slowed, but the wind is nasty.  I can imagine the whiteouts out in the open areas...of which there are a lot here.

My rheumatology office called again....real person this time...telling me I needed to reschedule as my NP wouldn't be in the office until the end of May.  It sounds as if she's got a medical issue.  I told her the appt had already been canceled by an automated call and I wasn't rescheduling.  She apologized profusely, but I'm not ready to reschedule.  My rheumatology appts don't seem to bring any relief, except when my SED rate is so high it's polymyalgia.

Stay safe,

jane

maryz

Hate to tell you this ... It's in the mid 60s here, and the sun just came out after a brief thundershower. All kinds of stuff is blooming, crocus, narcissus, pear trees, redbud, pink (deciduous) magnolia.  It's gorgeous to look at, but we have some of the worst allergy problems in the country. Always a trade-off, right?
