Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Hi Buddies, half time is just over for Auburn's home game with Texas A&M (they are ahead by 6 points) and I'll be brief tonight.  I've just turned on my computer to say hi and let you know I've had a good day.  This morning I had a request in for a driver to Kroger--and the person who came is one of my book club friends.  Our first book club meeting is on Monday at 3:00, so she volunteered to come back and take me to book club.

I've taken a walk down my driveway and on my street for about 20 minutes (most of the traffic was over at the stadium tailgating).  After that I've watched several football games and eaten far too many snacks!  I'm now having a beer and hoping AU makes some more points and wins the game.  We need some encouragement from a win!

Sleep well, Buddies.  I'll try to get back her tomorrow afternoon.
Sue

It's so good to see you back and posting, Sue, and hurrah on getting a walk in!
I  saw the AL- Ole Miss game and thought Ole Miss might knock them off, but Nick woke them up at half time!

The cardboat regatta was cancelled today...water too high and swift for safety.  It's now scheduled for next weekend.

Nephew and wife helped us with chores outside, and it's been a good visit.

Jane

I hope everybody's team won today.  Congrats,  Sue, on getting some walking done.

Margaret texted at noon - she was at the Tennessee game, and checked to see if it was okay to come by on her way home to go to dinner.  Of course, she did, and we went out for Mexican.  Jesse will be finished moving in tomorrow, just in time to start the new job on Monday. I hope all goes well with that.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Buddies!

Good Morning I am erady for church. There will be a memorial service for my friend after church today.

jane

Wonderful weekend with family.  They cleaned out some clogged gutters for us and helped empty the gardening cart.  We're in good shape now for nasty weather.

The cardboat regatta was postponed because of too high and swift water on the river, but that was fine.  We went doen to the local microbrewery for beers for the fellas and we showed them the kalidoscope the Master Gardeners had custom made and presented to the park.   They left this morning for  Mpls  and we're just relaxing.  We're not used to being up until after midnight.   :coolsmiley:

Candy. What BP are you taking? Never heard of one could take one once a week.  I would like that.  I only take this one drug but hate taking it.  No matter when I take it it bothers me. Just sort of  sicky feeling.

Hello Girls: Thousands and Thousands of Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, (and other Louisiana cities) people still
out of  their homes due to the "Great Flood of 2016."  It
is truly UNBELIEVABLE. Many various shelters their homes
with cots as beds. We just THOUGHT Katrina was bad-----
this is much worse.
Joy

Sandy

Joy,  I  am so very sorry to
hear how serious the Flood of 2016  is for you
and your family and friends and neighbors.

You are right.   We do not hear much about
it... how bad it still is and how many people
are still being affected.

And to think that compared to Katrina,  this is
much much worse!  You would never know it
by turning on the news here.

I am so sorry for all the pain and suffering that
this terrible flood has caused you all....

How are YOUR children faring, Joy?

joyous

Mary Page: I had 2 children and 1 grandson that were
flooded out of their homes and not back in their homes
and will not be for a long time.  One dtr is living in a camper trailer on her property, one son is living upstairs
in his home, the downstairs is all nothing but studs (sheetrock all taken out, treated for mold, etc., but they are going downstairs and fixing something to eat w/temporary facilities---toasters, etc., and my grandson
and family were extremely lucky to find a little house to
rent----across town from their home and the children's
school, but they are coping.  The children say "they are on
vacation".No one can possibly realize the devastation.
JOY

Joy, our hearts go out to you and your family - and all those who are so terribly impacted by the flood.  It's a shame that recovery efforts are never covered to the extent the original disaster has been.

We had a much cooler day today - high only in the low 80s, with about an inch of rain.  It was lovely!  Back to hot and dry again in the upcoming week, though.

Hi Buddies.  I've had a busy day here.  Sunday School and Church this morning--Olyne picked me up and afterwards she went home and I went to lunch at Burger King.  Bonney brought me home.  I didn't change my church clothes as our Women's Groups had a meeting to introduce our new Bible Study for the year at 3:00.  Bonney came back to pick me up and we had our District Co-ordinator as a guest speaker after we had refreshments.  She gave a short talk about our new study guides.  When we start our Circle meetings, we will then start on the second lesson--and will complete the study in once a month meetings through May.

I finished the newspapers and put the trash out for tomorrow's pick up.  I'm about half way through with a detective yarn--The Patriot Threat by Steve Berry.  It's a complicated mystery/detective story which started with President Roosevelt and Andrew Mellon but now has a Present Day Korean illegitimate son of the ruler of North Korea in Europe causing lots of problems.  I'm hoping the good guys win!

Joy, I'm so sorry to hear that your children and grandchildren are victims of the flooding in Baton Rouge.  What a horrible disaster! I hope they can find relief and restoration goes well for them.

Take care, Buddies.  I'll be back tomorrow.
Sue

It's almost time for the PBS programs I enjoy on Sunday evening, so

Sue ~ I am also reading a book by Steve Berry. The 14th Colony . It is a good read.  Next I plan to read Daniel Silva's The Black Widow .

Joyous ~ So sorry for all the people affected by the weather.

Today was Ray's birthday.

Hi to all the Buddies. I am still not back to normal but, much better.

MaryPage

A rainy day here on the bay.  We welcome it, as it had been a while since we've seen rain.  Bay waters are grimly grey and choppy, moving with great intensity down towards the Atlantic at this particular hour.
I am about to enjoy a banana and some toast and coffee, then shower and Chip will take me to The Main Ingredient to order some birthday cakes for this coming Saturday's joint celebration in honor of two of my children.  Happy to say that my left knee has gotten A LOT better, and I am now able to get some sleep.  Hoping the daily rate of improvement will mean no pain whatsoever by Party Time, but that is probably overreaching reality.
I am reading an Aunt Dimity.  She is such fun.  I think this one is the 17th in the series!
Love to all the Buddies.

jane

Quiet day here with lots of laundry to do...esp. sheets and towels.

We're back to hot and humid..with temps going to near 90.  Farmers will love that for drying the corn....most stalks have turned brown, and soybeans are in the gold phase, so soon the giant harvesters will be rolling through the fields.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I have a load of wash in the dryer, have finished this morning's cross word puzzle, and will shower/shampoo shortly.  I have the first meeting of my book club at 3:00.  My friend who took me grocery shopping on Saturday is also in the club and will pick me up for the meeting which just lasts an hour.  We'll get our new list for 2016/2017 today.  I'm hoping for some good books to read.

This afternoon about 5:15, Tim will pick me up to go to Ard and Dave's house for supper.  Today is Dave's birthday and I'm pretty sure we'll have birthday cake, too.  I don't remember how old Dave is, but it's in his 80's.  I think Ronnie's family (Kaye and the 2 little kids will be there).  Ronnie is off in Germany for some kind of training, I think.

I've had a notice of a trial in Montgomery this week.  You might remember that 2 years ago I was robbed of my silver and also jewelry.  None of it has been recovered.  Tim thinks it was probably melted and sold that way.  Although the silver might have been pawned.  I'm not going to the trial, but have a call in to the Detective who helped me file a warrant for the man's arrest.  He told me at the time that they have no idea where the robber lives, but evidently they have finally caught him.  I am not going to the trial.  I called the detective this morning and he is out of town--probably in Montgomery to testify.

My mail lady just drove up, so I'm going to mosey down the driveway and get the mail.  Then I'll shower and fix some lunch.  Have a good day, Buddies.

Sue: Sorry that I have not welcomed you back, but I am
truly delighted to see you back!!!!DON'T LEAVE us any more, please. You seem to be right in the "swing" of things.  My 2 children and 1 grandson and their families
are still out of their homes  :( The wheels of government
turn slowly! The news and pictures of the flood here was
sadly left out of the BIG news, sad to say.  I guess our
flood was not Big news. >:(
Did anyone watch the movie picture awards last night? I
did but had not seen a single one. ???

Hi Gals, we overslept yesterday and missed SS but made it to church. Also stopped by Lowes to pick up some more sunflower seed and suet. I did a load of towels after I got home, but nothing much else.  I am going to start on "The Martian"  tonight. John finished it and said it was a little over the top, but we don't always agree on books.  We did however agree that "The Racketeer" by Grisham was way too convoluted and not up to his usual standard.  Oh yes, we got our new solar lights positioned out in our garden, but I don't like the way they look. I know John will grumble and growl if I make him change them.

Ginny, tell us how your books are. I'm so glad you're feeling better.

Joy, I'm so sorry to hear how bad things still are in BR and area. I feel so sorry for everyone involved & particularly for your family.  Prayers going out.

Sue, it sounds like your injuries aren't slowing you down much except for having to depend on others for rides!  Good for you. My goodness, it took a long time to catch your theif!  I'm sorry they never recovered your jewelry, etc.  I was so lucky to get most of mine back when I was robbed.

MaryZ, is Jesse all settled and happy with his new job & location?  I know you and Margaret are. I always think of Chattanooga as being in the mtns. It seems like we drive in through mtns. However, since we moved from HH, we don't take that route north anymore.  It was 89 here yesterday but supposed to cool down with a chance for rain all week. However it is a low chance. We are -8 inches now, so we really do need it badly.

MaryP, glad your knee is better and that you're getting some rain.  Hope you get your cakes ordered.

Jane, I've got another load of laundry in today too.  I've also organized all my pills and supplements for the week. Nothing exciting planned for the rest of the day. I'm glad your nephews were able to come down and get all the winter cleanup done for you. So nice for them to come so far.

Marilyn, I hope the memorial for your friend was nice.
Sharon

The memorial yesterday was very nice. There were a couple  of speakers other than our pastor who also spoke.

I hve been working on some graphics , baking bread etc. today is Tai Chi /class, tomorrow Hospice Class. I am keeping busy with all my activities and walking freckles 4 times a day,

MaryPage

Another grey day, but no rain, at least as yet.  Bay waters are not as excited as this time yesterday.
Chip took me to the caterers yesterday, where I ordered 2 cakes for the double birthday party I will host for Robby and Betsy (now known as Rob and Elizabeth) on Saturday.  Chip will pick these up for me on Friday afternoon.  Then I slipped into their restaurant and did a take out of 4 of their heavenly miniature pumpkin raisin muffins.  We then did a sort of middle size shopping at Giant Grocery, finding it almost empty on a rainy Monday morning, which was delightful, and then we did a run down to West Street to Taco Bell and brought home a box of tacos for Chip and 2 supremes, or whatever they call them, with extra sour cream for me.  We both prefer the soft tacos.  Then we dashed home, but alas, too much riding in the car made my knee unhappy.  I had a good long nap, though, after devouring my taco luncheon.
No plans for today.  Going to take it easy.  Wishing all the Buddies a happy day!

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  It's hot and humid here again today.  I managed to pull up some dead marigolds and cut back a few plants which will remain nameless as I can't remember what to call them.  I worked half of today's crossword puzzle and straightened out my credit card bill, so I am not going to do much else this morning and maybe not this afternoon.  My memory is not what it should be, so I was glad to get the credit card straightened out and paid.

Sharon, I'm just glad they finally caught up with the jerk.  I swore out a warrant for his arrest at least 2 years ago.  I tried to call the detective who worked my case, but he was out of town yesterday--probably at the trial.  I hope he gets a VERY long sentence.  I don't remember if I told you Buddies that he'd also robbed his 2 daughters and their roommate as well as the roommate's parents who lived across the street.  None of the things I  and others lost will be returned.  Tim thought at the time that he probably had a way to melt silver and gold in his vehicle.

Marilyn, I'm glad the memorial service went well.  I see that you are still a very busy gal.  Freckles is lucky to have you as a "Mom"!

MaryPage, your descriptions of the food you bought over the weekend make me VERY hungry, especially the muffins.  I'm sorry about your unhappy knee and hope the pain goes FAR AWAY!

Tim and Kris went to the beach.  I think they left this morning, but might have driven down last night after Dave's birthday party--which I didn't attend because I wanted to go to book club.  I sent a card and some candy bars along with Tim.  I hope no one was upset that I went to the book club.

I'm off to check out other discussions.  I hope all you Buddies have a good day today.
Sue

Nothing going on today - just went to Silver Sneakers and lunch.  Even though the high today is to be around 90, it was a lovely morning in the high 60s, and I sat out on the deck for my coffee and newspaper.  I'm planning to get my supper "to go" tonight and eat at home.  They have a gospel singer schedule for during the supper hour.  It's not my favorite genre of music and he is way too loud for the room - so I skip the dining room.

Sue, it's so good to have you back, letting us know what's going on in LA (Lower Alabama).

Ginny Ann, good to see your bright blue print, too.

And all the news from Sharon, MaryPage, Marilyn, Donna, Joy (hope progress soon).  I hope jane's area gets the computer problems fixed soon, so she's here regularly. Molly, haven't heard from you lately. Oh, dear - who did I miss.  Hugs to you all, in any case.

Just got back from a walk with freckles. I have seen soi many of our neighbors with apples trees just letting them fall to the ground and n ot picking them up. I am seriously thinking of asking a couple of them if I can glean their trees.

Well today at Hospice class we will be discussing Spirituality and the Client. It all depends on the client reallt if they want to tALk about it. Some like to be red from the scriptures others want no part of spirituality. It all depends on what they waznt to talk about.

I think I will fix Curried Chicken for supper this evening. maybe some brown ric e and veggies toI sure have trouble reading the small type, I think my eyes are getting worse, I have trouble even trying to fill out papers and read the bills.

jane

Sue...it's so wonderful to see your posts.  You sound like your old self...and that's great!!

Marilyn...if the trees haven't been sprayed and properly cared for, is it worth it?

Maryz...good to see your post!

Beautiful day here, but to be hot and muggy and so, probably more storm and tornado warnings like we had last night.

I'm just home from a haircut...much needed, too!  Time to get some lunch....going on 2:00.

One of my furry friends brought me two big grocery bags of 34 different kinds of apples today.

Thirty-four different kinds of apples!

WOW!

Any Honey Crisps?  That's my favorite.

Overcast Wed morning greetings.

Rain on the way, I guess, and in the mid 80s today.

I'm off for lunch and bridge.
