Neither the PA nor I were able to talk Keith into doing a biopsy sat this time, She said there is a 30% chance he has cancer. However, he will, go for another Pps in  late July and a Dr appointment the 2nd of August. He wants to wait and see. I  think he wouldn't have even gone to the Urologist if I had not insisted and told my dr about it when  I saw her last month. She scheduled the appointments for Keith at the Urologist.

Freckles is going to the Vet today for her yearly exam and shots. I  a m going to see if I can gedt some Flea stuff that kills tick too. Her Cis doesn't kill tic ks. the ticks are very bad this year. It  might be too soon for more  flea and tick medicine on her she isn't due until the 20th.

Hi Buddies...not much going on with me..we are having hot temps already...but I'm used to it..just walk early and do outside things early....we may get a hurricane headed to Texas this year.....usually we get lots rain then....Marlyin sorry about the Increased PSA....he should not put off getting it taken care of...my husband had prostrate CA....but that's not what he died from....hope everyone looking in is doing ok....have a great weekend.....Darlene

maryz

jane, glad you cancelled your trip.  I know you hate it, but it sounds best.  We do love our haircuts, don't we.

Marilyn, I know you want Keith to keep up with the checking.  I hope you can.  Like Darlene's husband, John had prostate cancer, and was treated for it (without surgery) - but it wasn't what killed him.  I've always heard that many men die with very slow-growing prostate cancer - treated or not.  Good luck.

Sharon, glad you and Bunny are both doing better   And congratulations on your anniversary - enjoy your flowers and your dinner.

I got to coffee this morning, got my haircut, and changed out the case for my new tablet.  I'll have to get lots of help with it from Sue and Kate when we're at the beach (1-7 July).  I've not much since I got home.  I didn't go up to lunch.  I got a tiny nap, and sat outside on the deck for a couple of hours.  The temp was about 80, with a small breeze.  I knitted and listened to chamber music. It was lovely.

Have a good weekend, Buddies!

Tammy called this morning and wanted me to go to lunch with her at Chiken' Salad Chick (yes that' the way they spell it).  All kinds of chicken salad and other salads as well.  I had a scoop of their chicken salad and a pimento cheese sandwich along with lemonade.  It was yummy and I brought half the sandwich home.  I had leftover casserole for my supper, so will eat the sandwich tomorrow.  I'm poaching large chicken breasts right now and will cut them up for hot chicken salad and put them in the freezer before I go to bed.  I'll get them out on Wednesday evening to prepare the h.c. salad and will add the mayo, celery, pecans and other ingredients Thursday morning before putting it into the oven.

I called my hairdresser yesterday in hopes of getting a hair cut today or tomorrow, but she is booked up with coloring and other complicated things, so I have to put it off until next Friday afternoon.  I'm getting pretty shaggy!

Tammy took me to Ace Hardware after lunch and I picked up a flat of several different kinds of marigolds.  I pulled up the pansies this morning.  I hope to get the marigolds planted tomorrow and also cut back some more of the shrubs growing too high in front of my den and living room windows.  I also bought some seeds for a fall garden in my little raised bed in the back yard.  I'm hoping for some home grown vegetables in late September and early October.

My plans for this evening include the news programs as well as hopefully as a good movie.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.
Sue

maryz

Sue, sounds like you had a full day.  Good for you!

Sharon, I don't remember your saying that there was going to be another baby in your family.  When is he due?  Congratulations!

A very hot Saturday morning greeting!!

Nothing much planned for this very hot and humid weekend here. Ray's knee is improving nicely and the skin abrasions are healing slowly.

We've put our plan to go to Ohio back on the burner...Thurs. orthopod visit, Friday lunch with Ia TX friends and then start for Ohio on Sat and get there Sunday.  We don't do 750 miles in one day anymore.

Stay cool and safe this weekend, Buddies!

Hi Gals, Bunny is doing better. Eating and drinking and taking her meds and sleeping for the most part.  I've read the paper, which took forever because I kept falling asleep. I think I'm going to cut the Oxycontin to half at bedtime. I've stopped taking it any other time. It does make for a good night's sleep though!  :D Then, I took a shower, washed my hair, did my PT exercises, fed Bunny & me and put an ice pack on my knee. Now I can relax until time to clean up for dinner.

Yes, Mary, Jocelyne is expecting around Halloween! I hope that doesn't mean he will be a little devil.  Harrison is pretty mischievous as it is. It sounds like you're getting a lot of pleasure out of your deck. I can't use our patio till after 1:00 because of the morning sun.

Jane, glad Ray's knee is improving nicely. We do drive from here to Indy in one day, but we switch off driving & stop every 2 hours or so.

Marilyn, I think most urologists want to watch for a couple jumps in PSA before they do the biopsy. Another month  or so shouldn't hurt.

Darlene, it's good that you don't mind getting out early in the morning since it is so hot there.  I'm just not into mornings.  Have a nice weekend everyone.  Sharon

Hi Every Buddy.  I've had a busy day here.  I spent several hours between washer loads working outside.  I planted the marigolds I bought yesterday at Ace Hardware.  It took quite a while between picking up fallen limbs and carrying them down to the curb.  They'd been down out back since the last big rain storm we had and I just got around to having time (and feeling like it) to take them down there.

I was drenched with sweat when I did get inside, so showered, shampooed and got into clean shorts and a T shirt.  I feel better now and it's almost time for the news.  I'm planning to watch Hallmark movies this evening and get to bed afterwards.  The TCM movies tonight are not so interesting.  Tomorrow TCM is having a really great film fest:  The Last of the Mohicans at 5:00, Breakfast at Tiffany's at 7:00 and My Fair Lady at 9:00--and it will stay on until 12:30--(I don't know if I can stay awake for all of it!).

I hope every one and families are feeling well today.  Have a nice evening, every Buddy.

We had the most wonderful night out last night. In spite of it being downtown, John got there safely and without problem. The restaurant had a parking deck behind it for free where John parked after dropping Barb & I at the front door.  When we were seated they brought menus that said Happy Anniversary at the top and were for us to take home. This place was very posh and had wonderful service (high prices, but worth it once in a while). The food was delicious too. I had a ribsteak, mashed potatoes, and a chopped salad. John had a filet with all the same sides.  Dessert was complementary for our anniversaries. They even took digital pics of each couple and put it in a folder for us.  I had made early reservations so that driving would be easier and in the light.  Consequently, we got home about 8:30 which was good for Bunny's meds.

I did go to church & SS today for the first time since my surgery. That was nice.

Bunny is being really bad about taking her meds.  She hasn't had any since 3:00 yesterday. I've tried everything. She'll eat the deli turkey plain but not with meds in it. She must smell them.  John took her for a short walkie today. That made her happy.

Sue, it sounds like you did a lot of hard work. Are you supposed to do that much in the heat?  I hope you enjoyed your TV shows.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  Sharon

SCFSue

Oops, the film fest at TCM is on Monday, not today.  I need to pay better attention.  Tonight Hallmark is repeating the same program I watched last night.  It was entertaining with the couple from the show about the Mounty and the school teacher which was on Hallmark every Sunday night during the season.  I'll be happy if it returns in the fall.  I did watch 2 episodes of the Golden Girls.  They give me fairly healthy laughs.

This morning Olyne picked me up for Sunday School and church.  I learned that my dear friend Tom Corley (96 y.o.) had died on Saturday.  The funeral seems to be set for Wednesday and hopefully about 10:30 as I am the bridge hostess that day at 1:00.

It was warm and sunny here, so I took my house plants outside and watered them from my rain barrel.  I also worked on one of my flower beds, weeding and cutting back overgrown shrubs.  Then I managed to lie down and read for about an hour before getting my paper and cardboard trash out to the curb.  I need to bag up the trash to put out, too, and take it down to the curb.  So I guess I'll sign out and do that.

I hope everyone has had a nice Sunday.
Sue

Not much new here today we had a luncheon after church today that was supposed to be a picnic at the beach but yesterday it was decided to have it at the church instead. Music practice went well Friday night. I will be singing again on July 2nd for the 4th of July celebration. I am singing This Land is Your Land. Pastor will be on the Banjo, Debbie  on her 12 string guitar and vocals. We are trying to get her husband to sing with me and share my mic. We will see. My practice of It is well with my soul is going well. Pastor decided it would be better for my to sing to him playing the piano instead of me trying to hit those too high notes that David Phelps does on the Gaither video.

I think I am just about packed up for our trip. Oh my getting Freckles stuff ready is like packing my own bag. Her food,  brushes, dry shampoo, medications, leashes and harnesses. She has a traveling harness that hooks up to the seat belt in the car, Oh and two beds for her, one for nighttime in the bedroom and one for day time in the living room.  Can you tell she is one spoiled dog?

JeanneP

Just to uncomfortable to even be on the computer.  97 deg today and been in the 90s for 8 days. Say tomorrow to be in the 103 deg.  Only going down to 79/82 at night. Hard for A/C to keep it up. I go out before 9am and then after 7pm if needed.

I'm just getting ready to go to bed and read for a while.  We've had rain this afternoon.  I spent the morning working outside, trying to get my front yard into shape--lots yet to do both front and back.  I can only work outside for short periods.

I watched "Breakfast at Tiffany's" this evening and enjoyed it, but that Holly Golightly is a mess!

Marilyn, I hope you and Keith have a nice vacation.  Is Freckles going with you or will she be boarded?

Hi Jeanne.  I'm sorry it's so hot up there.  We've had much lower temps here--only up in the mid 80's so far which is unusual for this time of year in Alabama.

Sleep well, Buddies.

Ooooh  I loved that film of long ago!  early 60s?  and the music was good too.  I bought the book after I saw the film.

Strange weather, as usual.  Around 90 here, but my friend in upstate NY was at 103!!  No rain predicted yesterday, but last night while I was at duplicate, we had a really hard rain - about 30 minutes worth - with the sun shining most of the time.  Of course, I had left my car windows cracked, so the seats got wet.  I'm going to go out shortly and open it up to let it dry out.  Did poorly last night - cards, bidding, AND play, I'm sorry to say.  I got killed in a no-trump bid - with the perfect lead (for them), I was down 5!  Oh, well.....

My a/c leaked sometime Sunday, so the maintenance guys were here yesterday getting things fixed and dried out.  They have to come back today to check, and hopefully put my furniture back in place.  Other than that, nothing going on.

Sue, glad you're getting some yard work done - I know you enjoy it.

Sharon, I'm glad you and Bunny are continuing to improve.

Marilyn, y'all have a great time on your vacation.

jane, and Jeanne, I hope you get some relief from the heat soon.

Have a good Tuesday, Buddies!

We had a slight break in the high heat (for us in June) last night when a small storm went through...a bit of rain, but not nearly enough.  Back to hot today...already 80 at 9:00 am.  No outside work for me.  I'm getting a lot of reading done, though!   :2funny:

Happy Vacation, Marilyn.

I've just come inside from an hour of yard work.  It was not terribly hot yet, but very humid, so I'm off shortly to shower and shampoo my hair.

Tomorrow my bridge club is meeting here (I'm sure I've mentioned this before).  However, my dear friend Tom's funeral is at noon, so I've called everyone and asked them to come at 1:30 instead of 1:00.  Several of the members of this club are also friends of Tom and will also go to the funeral.  The family is having a private burial at the cemetery near me and will come to the church for the service and probably a reception afterwards.  I hope I can get home in time to get the snacks out.

I have garden dirt every where, so am off for a LONG hot shower and shampoo!  Have a good day, Buddies.
Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Sue, I'm glad you are doing your gardening in small bits.  In the heat and humidity it is important.  I'm sorry for your loss and hope your timing all works out tomorrow.

Wow, Mary, not a good day for you with unexpected rain & wet seats as well as bad bridge, but there's always tomorrow!

We have been in the 80's for the past week, to be 89 today. Still haven't reached 90 but supposed to tomorrow. I'm not happy about that.

I've been to PT. She was very pleased with my progress and I turned in my cane. I am up to 7 min on the bike also, but at a ridiculously slow speed, but all I'm able to do now.  I am currently icing my knee after eating lunch.

Jeanne, you're wise to stay in during the heat of the day.  Take care of yourself.

Bunny is being a bad bunny!! She won't take her med (antibiotic that she absolutely has to have). I' ve tried it in turkey, smashed and mixed with her chicken & rice, and finally today bought a syringe, smashed it into a tsp of chicken broth and squirted it (mostly) into her mouth.  John was gone, so it was hard to get her mouth open long enough to stick it in and squirt it, but should work better tonight when he's home to help.  Bunny was NOT a happy camper about it. She must hate the taste of it. She gagged and coughed and went on. She still hasn't finished her breakfast that I tried to smash a tab into.  Even though, I've added more chicken and broth.  Otherwise, I think she is getting better.  I'm just worried about the ab with such a major surgery.

I finally was able to have John move my recliner and computer, etc, out of the living room and into my den. It is so much more convenient and also the living room looks so much better.  I had him put it in there so I could watch TV. The couch was too low and soft for me to lie down on and then be able to get up from, but now I can!!

Nothing else going on here.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, glad you've gotten your recliner where you need it.  As I said, I just don't ever sit on couches any more.

Good morning, Buddies.  I've been up since the "crack of dawn"  or almost--say about 6:45. I wanted to get almost everything except the food ready for bridge this afternoon.  So cups, glasses, spoons, etc. are all out on my buffet and ready for folks to help themselves.  Coffee pot is filled with water and coffee in for 12 cups.  I'll put ginger ale out just before the "girls" get here at 1:30.  I'm having ice cream and cookies made by Mrs. Kroger for dessert after the first round of bridge.

I'm now showered and dressed for the funeral which will begin shortly after noon.  The family will have private prayers and internment at the cemetery prior to the funeral service.  I hope Mary (the widow) is up to both services.

I still have time to cut up celery for my chicken salad which I'll take to tomorrow's bridge luncheon--after I see the cardiologist.  He's going to look at my left shoulder/chest to see how things are going with my incision.  I also need to get all my meds together for him to examine.  I guess he might consider changing some of them--although I don't take many.

Have a nice day. I hope to be back later this evening, but if I'm exhausted, will go to bed early.

Hello from Sunriver oregon. Freckles spotted a squrril on one of our walks this afternoon so we had to stop and see where it went.

SCFSue

Hey, Marilyn.  It sounds like you had a safe trip to Sunriver and you're already having fun--and so is Freckles!

I'm dressed and ready to see the Cardiologist at 10:30.  Tim will pick me up about 10:15.  Hopefully after checking out my incision, he'll tell me I'm doing well and no more appointments.  I have to gather up all my meds and take them to the appointment--so he may want to change one or more of them.

Have a good day, Buddies.

Sue, I hope your appointment goes well.

Another quiet day.  Silver Sneakers this morning, and there will be a bridge game after supper tonight.

Hugs, Buddies!

It's been pretty cool here cold at times Today it is dropping a few drops of rin just enough not to take a walk, darn.

Freckles is having lots of fun  with all the new smells around the ground, grass and bushes.

SharonE

This is the post I put in FB yesterday: I'm feeling better and walking on my own now. Bunny is still stubborn about her meds but she seems better.
This afternoon I gave basic French lessons to a missionary family who are headed for Albertville, France for 6 mos or so and then on to Camaroon, Africa for their mission. Camaroon is a French-speaking country. The family are a part of the JAARS mission to publish the Bible in untranslated languages. The man of the family is the son of my good neighbor 2 doors down. It was fun getting back into it. The kids did better than the adults on some things. Anyway, it was a small way to help them out and keep them from feeling so lost when they get to France.

Today, I had PT and OMG did she hurt me!  I know it was good for me. She was massaging the muscles and blood vessels of the sore areas of my leg that are so swollen. She thinks the massage will cause the circulation to increase and carry away the fluid. I hope she is right.  She also had me on the bike for 15 mins at very low speed a + my usual quad exercises.  I had her ice me down there, then I went to the grocery. I used the mobile cart of course, but I was still wiped out when I got home.  I had a phone call and now have to go get dinner.  Back tomorrow.  Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Every Buddy.  I had a good report from the cardiologist and his assistant (who did most of the work on a computer)--only one not so good thing--long wait in the waiting room.  This seems to be a pattern with lots of the specialists here.  I have to go back in 6 months for another check up.  The pace maker is perking right along and the doctor and assistant were pleased.  They told me it will probably be good for at least 9 years--and then I can get another one if I last that long!

So I was a bit late for bridge, but enjoyed a hurried lunch--everyone else had eaten--and we played our usual 3 rounds.  I had some good cards and some not so good, but had fun.  Olyne brought me home.

This evening I've been reading and am watching another episode of the Golden Girls before I go to bed.

Marilyn, I hope the weather clears up tomorrow.

Sharon, good luck with the exercises.  I'm sorry it's tiring, but hopefully you'll feel better soon and make good progress to full recovery.

Is Jane out of town?  I don't think she's been here for a day or two.

Good night, Buddies.
Sue

SharonE

Sue, I'm glad you had a good report from the cardiologist.  My appt. is July 3. Just a routine annual though.

I've been to the pain management doctor and started the process of scheduling my nerve stimulator implant. It will probably be in August. Pray that it works for me.  After that, I went in to Pineville to return a gift from Kohls that didn't fit.  I don't usually shop there, so I thought I knew where it was but when I got there, it wasn't.  I have since found out there is one fairly close to here, so will try to go tomorrow.

Marilyn, I hope you have an enjoyable vacation and that the weather cooperates this year.

Mary, how did the bridge go?  Is your knee still causing you lots of pain?

Darlene, I don't envy you your heat.  It is bad enough here, but usually in the high 80's in the summer with some 90's from time to time.

I hope Ginny is having a good vacation in Canada.

I'm so looking forward to going to NJ to see all the family 7/5-9.  Mary, you have used wheelchairs in the airports before, how much do you usually tip them?  I've never seen a mention of it.

I have to go in and do my exercises now.  Whoo Hoo!!  NOT!     Sharon

maryz

Sue, glad you got a good report.  Keep taking it easy, though.

Sharon, I had terrible cards this afternoon (19 points total in the first four hands!), but the scores for the day haven't been posted yet, so I don't know how we did overall.  My tip for the wheelchair pusher depends - usually $5.00, but in someplace like Atlanta or LAX, or if they're particularly helpful, I might go up to $10.  It's worth every penny to me!

It's been a really quiet week around here, so nothing exciting to write about.  I guess that's probably a good thing.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Sorry about the cards, Mary.  Thank you on the tip info.  I was thinking $5, so doesn't sound too far off.

I just finished my exercises and am now icing my knee before going over to see Frances.  Nothing serious there, other than what we already knew she had.

Sharon
