Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Sato

Jeanne, Kelly, Jackie, thanks for your comments. My friend made another PHOTOPEACH slideshow as follows.  Fantastic lots of peonies and colorful CARPs swimming high in the fine sky in this season.

Hi Sato
Good to see your post.

Kelly

Mary Ann

Sato, your friend takes beautiful pictures.  I hope it will be soon that you are able to get out and take some yourself.  Get well quick!

Mary Ann

Sato, incredible flowers - Is that in a public garden, do you know?
The music too was intriguing: to my ears it sounded like Spanish. Very pleasing too.

JeanneP

It has been awhile since I saw any of the parents in the Eagle nest.  They act like they are Hungary.  Hope they haven't been abandoned.
JeanneP

MaryTX

JeanneP, are you referring to the DC cam?  The eaglets have not been abandoned.  One of the parents are there frequently bringing food.  They are pretty much self feeding now. so the parents bring food, mainly live fish and then them go at it.  Most of the time, at least one parent is there, just out of camera range.  Last nite, DC was having a thunderstorm.  Mom was on the nest and both babies were burrowing as much as they could underneath her.  They are so big now, they couldn't get in very far :).

Sato

Kelly, Mary Ann, thanks for your words.

Bubble, we have many public parks and gardens in Yokohama.  Along with some main roads are planted flowering bushes. Japanese has a bit simillar pronunciations to Spanish. So the singing might have sounded like in Spanish.

Kelly

Hi Sato
Again nice to see your posts

Are you home now from hospital

Best wishes

I find Chinese sounds very difficult to reproduce, so maybe Japanese would be easier to speak?
But I  start to think my memory will rebel acquiring a new language.
I tried Tagalog and I tried Sinhalese but the vocabulary was too hard to remember.  Old age? lol

Sato

Kelly, no, I'm still on bed in hospital.

Bubble, I don't think you're too old to learn a new language.  Our famous doctor, 104 years old, says it keeps a human young to try starting a new thing.

Grand Haven looks rough today but beautiful with the waves.

Eagle babies are really getting big now. At what age do the start to fly?
JeanneP

Sato, is your  famous doctor, 104 years old, still learning?
I do learn almost daily in PaintShop, I do word puzzles and Sudoku to keep the mind active, and lately learned to use Excell on the computer.
A totally  foreign language is too taxing now, but I might take again Spanish or Italian, for the fun of it.  I can read easy novels in these but it's hard to speak when not mastering the grammar.

Do you know another foreign language apart from English?

MaryTX

JeanneP, they usually fledge between 12-14 weeks which will probably be around the end of June.    They are about 5-7 pounds now.  They flap their wings and hop around the nest.  It looks like they are going to hop off, but they seem to instinctively know when to stop.

MaryTX, thanks for that info.  Mom is with them right now and feeding them.  They are getting big and I get nervous when they walk up on the edge of the nest.

JeanneP

I was never good at learning another language in School.  We just had to take Latin. Now I wish that I had tried harder.  I can look at Italian and sort of figure some out but not that good.  Spanish I could have learned in the past 20 years as I had to have one person for French, one for Spanish working with me as my office was the International part . Taking care of S america. Canada, And Europe.  Again I could sort of read it a little. Doesn't help. In Us now everything is in Spanish and English. All the streets marked. Stores. Fact I have purchased 2 things this month with instructions only in Spanish. We will be getting lost. My town and close area now has at least 9 thousand from Mexico and S America living in it. Never saw one up to 3 years ago. Very interesting .

Kelly

Hi JeanneP
Our own language Manx,  is a very hard language to learn.

And I live here!

Bubble, the 104 years old doctor is seeing patients everyday, and an active president of a nationwide society for LONG LIFE.  He says anything is OK as far as it's a new trial for her/him.
I can use a bit of Deutch and Chinese.

Kelly, what does Double Dutch mean?

Kelly

Hi Sato
Double dutch means talking rubbish or nonsense

Which is what I most of the time!

Kelly

Sato

Kelly, thanks for your answer.  Maybe it's midnight now.  Sorry to ask again.  I have enjoyed walking around with Google Map street viewing on Man Isle.  What climate is your place like now?  What kind of flowers are blooming?  BTW, the weather thingy doesn't appear on your column, the same as mine.  On the former system there was.  Why?

The weather program has a serious problem with countries outside the US.  We "foreigners" have to live without it  until a solution is found. :)
I am sure Kelly will add about Manx being a real country, though tiny.   :2funny:

Kelly

Hi Sato
The temperature now, at 9.10am is 50F or 10C, with a high they say of 54F or 12C.  Which is about average for early May here.

As for plants, quite a lot. So here are a few,

Bluebells
Forget me nots
Heathers
Pansys
Daffodils
Tulips
Grape Hyacinth

Shrubs
Forsythia
Rhododendron
Azalea

I cannot get the weather app, I don't think the Island is in the list!

Kelly

Kelly

Hi Bubble
Even I am not sure if the Isle of Man is actually a country in its own right.

Probably being a crown dependency, we are not.

Many Manx people would like to be Independent, but I am not sure we should be.

Kelly.
Now I hadn't been to the Isle of Man since being young. Some of the family use to just go over for the weekends if they thought the weather would be nice. Really it never seems to be much better than Blackpool . Southport when it came to the weather..  They liked the Isle of Wight more. Always a little better weather.
I never thought though that I of M didn't have any industry as such that it could be a Country of its own. Could it afford to be.?
I know the did some farming but not big.  Had a few mills. Flour and such. Seems my mum use to like a type of cheese that could get there.
Would take a lot of money now for them to become independent.  Sort of like the North of Ireland.  It couldn't make it on its own.  They now realize that now I think.
Isn't it now more of a place for Retirement.  What does it make its income from?  I am sure it has changed some from my days. Use to be a cheaper place to live.

Hi Sato
Will do my best with photos of places where I live.

The picture on my profile is of the Gaiety theatre in Douglas the capital of the Isle of Man.

It was designed by Frank Matcham who designed the famous London Palladium theatre.

Sato that was lovely, and while I do not speak the language, the music fit the mood.    Hope you are progressing.
