I now have cows as my daily view, sometimes they will be in view sometimes they go further afield and out of sight...who would believe, as we look as if we are out in the countryside yet the other side of that valley is the sea, well a tad further to the right it is, and out of view....but the corner of it can be seen as you walk or drive up the slope to the left, about half way one can see it, it lies in a V shape....

Only just noticed our Hydrangeas are out, guess they have been in blossom quite some time but, I must have been slow In noticing them...guess I dont go to the car bay too often, nor venture too far into our back garden, they sit behind the car.... You may notice my new metal safety handrail-bar, first photo, I have a set of seven concrete steps to maneuver, it has made my life a tad easier than getting to the car from our front which is on an uphill slope...

Jack wv...cant smell them but then I am used to living near to cows..we had a field with cows in at the end of our last garden before our move....I now feel more at home here now...there are also cows at the opening end to our long private parkhome uphill drive......

FlaJean

Vanilla, you have a lovely view.

Lloyd, the pretty little girl looks right at home on the horse.  Is that your granddaughter?

Vanilla-Jackie

Jack wv, FlaJean...
...thank you both...yes the views are spectacular, we are down in the valleys, yet our parkhome is at the top..so we are looking down over the other onsite accommodations to our left...

Jackie everything looks so nice and green.  what a view!

Lloyd, loved your photos

Great pictures.  It is a treat to come here and look at them.

Not sure what happened to my post, I missed the photo of Mimi but did see & thought I posted about your photos, Jackie.  Think I may have typed to WordPad & neglected to post.   :-[

Beautiful pic of Mimi, Jack, and she always has that smile for the camera.  Got to put you in a good mood to see her so happy.

Jackie, love the photo of the cows on the hill, looks so peaceful, like a painting.  Glad the move has worked out so well, certainly is beautiful.  The flowers are gorgeous, my memory of the English gardens was that everyone had a green thumb!  Where we lived in High Wycombe I could see the whole row of back yards on either side of ours and each was filled with amazing flowers.

My crazy cats also lay in the sun for their vitamin D...... they are welcome inside or to stay out in the shade when they've had enough, and cats being cats, make up their own mind about what to do (unlike a dog that is rational & also likes to obey & get treats).  No amount of bribery or threats works with cats.

Jackie I no longer have a photo I posted some time back on the old board.   I liked your pasture with the cows and the sea just out of sight.     Here is a photo I took tonight.  You will see the mist from the late rain.   The field is in view from my walking trail, and usually has cows, but not tonight.  Now off to the right and out of view is the Atlantic Ocean.  (would take great eyes, it is 412 miles  :)))

Shirley

Haha, Jack, like me saying those mountains in CO are just off to the west.... about 550 miles!  I noticed when we drove "back east" that the mist would hang in the low areas, fascinated me because the wind keeps it from forming here most of the time.  Neat shot.

Jack wv...
...you have similar views to what I have...aren't we so lucky and blessed to be living in a beautiful part of our country...yes where we now live, those are the views that surround us....If I hang on, we are due rain today, maybe I will glimpse some distant mist...

Shirley...
...if you was living in or around High Wycombe now, you would be sitting on a gold mine...it is within the desirable areas of the Chilterns and Chilturn Hills, a place of outstanding beauty...Buckinghamshire is a desirable and pricey place to live in some areas...

Vanilla, I lived in Bucks, Aylesbury for one year.  Beautiful country side. Have you been there?

Bubble...
...I used to live in Hertfordshire and my last place was Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire was my neighbour...we are known as the three counties of Herts, Beds and Bucks...I have been to Worlds End a Wyevale garden centre in Wendover...I have personally done the trips towards Aylesbury coming from the Rickmansworth end, which is just a 25 mile journey away......
Its a small world isnt it?...

Sure is Vanilla.  I was in College in Hartwell House. The house of Citizenship College and the principal, Miss Rolfe was a character.  Check it out!
this is the place http://www.hartwell-house.com/history/

Jackie, I've found Google Earth links to the area where we lived in Marlow & High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire)... nothing like it was back in the mid '50s.  I was there from '54-'57.   The mansion (where we lived in the top flat/attic) was converted into 5 flats on one end, the middle and other end of the mansion was sold off as separate houses.  All the beautiful grounds around these mansions has been filled up with houses.  We were told the place we lived in had been owned by friends of the king when he was courting the future "Duchess of Windsor". I always loved history so enjoyed every day of my years there.  I had one American woman friend, the rest of my friends were English. Gas was rationed during those years so I didn't use our car or go to the base.  I would love to visit again but doubt that will happen (can't take the cats)... so will enjoy my memories.

Our landlord & wife moved to Maidenhead later, Bubble, not sure where that is to Aylesbury.  We visited them once & they truly had a beautiful house/mansion.  You have lived and traveled so many places, ever think about writing a book for your kids?  My mother did, from her early years until she was about 16.  My brother published it for family & friends & we love it.

It is miserable hot, pushing 100 today with lots of wind blowing.  I planned to turn on the sprinklers this morning but not sure any of the water will reach the ground.  I did water the front 2 zones for about an hour each last night the wind dries out the ground so fast the grass & trees are looking like mid August already.

I really enjoyed your link, Bubble, & even bookmarked to send my daughter. Now that she is retired they might want to visit the area where she was born & Hartwell House would be her kind of place to stay.

Never visited Hartwell House but have visited Waddesdon Manor and Chenies Manor...I love visiting these old Stately Homes, such a lot of history....also in neighbouring ares are Hatfield and Knebworth House's and Woburn Abbey...Bubble, I think you would love it over here...

Shirley...
...Maidenhead is in Berkshire....next county down from Buckinghamshire, a tad closer to London..yes both google earth and maps google are a great help in finding locations and travelling without having to move a muscle from our comfy seat...

Shirley

You are right, Jackie.. I forgot that but remember now having a terrible time trying to get all the names & nicknames of the areas
straight.  Bucks & Berks, etc.  Been a long 60 years since there.

What a beautiful picture.  Was worth waiting to see.

Thanks, Patricia,  for fixing it so we all can see it.  I hardly ever see a rainbow.  Probably don't really think about looking for any.

Great shot, Larry!  I'm another that isn't on Facebook, Twitter or any place but here.  Not likely to join the others, either.... don't think I want to know what all my grands are up to.   ::)

Larry, remembering when you were talking about the new house being built, I pictured vacant lots yet.  Looks like all those yards are well established and so well kept, which is the newest?  Beautiful neighborhood, even some large trees behind those houses on the left.

Too hot to breathe outside today.  I checked with the surveyors working at the house next door.... we did have the property surveyed when we bought but found out the ones on either side did not.  Want to make sure our wrought iron fence is inside our property line because new owners seem to believe they have a right to connect to it or attach some kind of narrower fencing to it (yes, it happened when the house sold on the other side), man proceeded to "wire" a stretch of chicken wire fencing to our brand new wrought iron.  I had to tell him that was NOT acceptable.  He took it down but lay 4x4s along the bottom & never-ever has "weed whipped" or trimmed the Bermuda grass that grows wild. Not a pretty sight.

He has 4 basset hounds. Our fence is 6" inside our property line and I did tell them they could put their own post up to their & our property line, but not attach.  They are getting the benefit of us paying for the long fence that separates us.  We had to replace the wrought iron we put up when we first moved here.... was the old kind of very heavy iron with the extra expense of having those little caps with the balls put on.  But it rusted & this new one is aluminum dipped (my understanding), supposed to last longer & cost a lot less.  Live & learn, huh?  Anyway, glad I don't have to work outside in this heat.

Thanks for posting, Patricia.

Tidied, our HOA says we have to have this privacy fence, old board fence, they are expensive and ugly in my opinion.  And the house behind me is a rent house and landlord, a woman, is not very cooperative.  Anyhow I need some work done on mine, but it can wait.

Amy

Larry, what a beautiful photo!!! Thank you for sharing and thank you Patricia for posting it.

Larry. What a beautiful Street you live on. Seems that no home is built the same. Even the colours. Don't see that often . We have some nice areas here kept like that but most of the homes same shape. Most same colour.

As we have not had rain here since first week of June then things are looking so dry. Then to storm came yesterday and tore up so many trees . Power lines down . One tree between mine and the house next door was so big and it completely split in half. We were so lucky. It just fell and damaged the two sets of steps and the chrome railing around them. Missed  his beautiful car by 1 ft.
Jackie. The area you moved to looks so nice. Do green. Be fun having farm fiends behind. A friend of mine lost her husband this year and my cousin says that she has moved a little out of Bristol where they lived. Now moved to Summerset . I brought her area up. A place I havn't seen. Looks so nice. Some of family moved up to Northumberland. Close to the Scottish border. I need to get over this year and do some visiting.  My Granddaughter and her 9 year old just left today for London to meet up with her husband . She was a little scared of going I think. I will not spend time in the Big cities again. Never did care for them anyway
Shirley.  My mother had a place in High Wycombe where she lived in the Fall/ winter months. I spent lot of time there and loved that area. One thing about living in UK. you can cover the whole Island is a few days. I realize now just how much I missed by thinking we had to go to Europe for holidays.
Would like to see so many areas now. Wish I could drive a car over there but just never did. Got a rail pass last time over and may do that again. Go see a few places.

Having been driven from my home by a 5-day rock concert beneath my window I have taken refuge on the shores of Georgian Bay in Collingwood Ontario. This picture was taken during a walk along the shore.
