Don at first I thought you were on a bike, sorry, but hope you get along with your walking.

Radioman34

One of the nice things about walks along the shore is the people you meet.  I met a man who was out walking his retriever and we chatted for nearly half an hour, and I got him to take my picture as I posed with his dog. Folks are so friendly in small towns.

SCFSue

Great pictures, Don.  The dog in the picture sure looks like Jack's Golden!

Don...I thought you had hijacked Mimi for a minute...

Jeanne P...Somerset is a neighbouring County to us here in Dorset...

Mary Ann

Don, you have a nice place to escape to.  The golden looks right at home with you.

Mary Ann

I haven't been around the past few days. But I want everyone to know that I enjoyed all the photos I caught up with today!

FlaJean

A good escape, Don.  Looks so nice and peaceful there.

jackwv

Don that does look a lot like Mimi.   She also takes a sitting position, and leans against anyone that will pat her head and shoulders.  When you stop she turns around and lets you know you are not done.   That is a beautiful setting and while I agree with your comment on small towns (I live in one) I believe so much is added by people getting away from their problems, and relaxing in a quiet spot.   So many walkers stop to visit and are in no rush to move on.   Even big cities need a spot to relax and hopefully have a spot for dogs.

jackwv

78 degrees and not as humid.  Nice walk at the park, and Mimi had a number of groups that would pet her.   I took one close up, had an offer to take mine with her, but why ruin a good photo. :)

Envy the view of the lakes and Oceans that many of you have.  The park just has two, small, man made lakes.  Do have a nice view, this was over Mimi's shoulder.

Wonderful Pictures!!!!

Shirley

Nice to see you, Don, & am jealous of the gorgeous view you have..... and that you found a pup to hug!  I'm with you on those "rock" concerts.... not my kind of music. When Wichita has the open concerts downtown along the river, the sound carries over the water & I am thankful it's hot enough to keep the house closed & AC running so the sound doesn't vibrate too bad.

Such a pretty girl, Jack, I feel so silly sitting here grinning at the monitor.  Mimi has the sweetest face, & looks like she may have just been to the beauty shop.  What is that one spot at the top of the landscape... looks like a sand dune.  Maybe a field of something getting ripe?  Close to the sky line......... Take your camera next time (instead of phone) & zoom in for me.   ;)  I'm a fine one to talk, my camera is gathering dust it's been put away so long.  It stayed cloudy the whole time the moon was full so no moon shots, even.

Hi, Patricia, what have you been up to?

Shirley...
...well spotted, yes I can see a white ball shape spot to the right of the landscape, wonder if it is a hot air balloon, maybe...it doesn't look as if it is attached to anything, it is slightly above the trees...

Jack wv...
...next time you are offered the chance of having your photo taken alongside your Mimi, jump to the offer, we would-I would love to see the two of you together when you are out and about in your calmer and beautiful setting...

Angelface...
...I am hoping you have not been around because you have been busy and not because you have been unwell...good to have you back where you belong...

so_P_bubble

Wonderful views, so much green  vegetation.  I am jealous!

Shirley, you can click on Jack's photo to enlarge with Control and the mouse wheel.  I did and I believe the white sphere is a water tank tower.

jackwv

Shirley, believe the "sand dune" is a farm, usually has cows on it.   Bubble and Jackie are right.  In the distance, and to the right of the farm is a water tower that serves our large high school and Wheeling Park, over close to my home.  That would be around 4 miles.  I will sometimes take the camera, but so easy to walk along with just the IPhone.

Bubble, at times I would like to trade my landscape for your beach.

Jackie, I may have a photo taken along with Mimi in the future.  I came close to accepting the offer yesterday and should have.

angelface555

Jackie and Shirley, I have been here once in awhile, altho not often to photos recently. The latter part of June and July have been full of appointments, building inspections, and computer repairs. I have also had several business appointments with various senior agencies I deal with. I'm hoping everything settles down now.I have missed seeing everyone's photos!

Vanilla-Jackie

Well that rules out my " hot air balloon " theory... ;D

FlaJean

Nice photo of Mimi and the landscape.  I didn't notice the water tower until Shirley (with her artist's eye) mentioned it.  It rained much of the night and some of the morning.  We have more rain here than we did in Ocala.

I had to take a second look at Dons photo with the Dog. I thought it was Jacks.  All the photo's today look so much greener and cooler than what I am looking at here. Don't understand why i am staying in Illinois this summer.
Jack, been awhile since you have put a photo of yourself in with a dog. Fact I don't think you have done it with Mimi. That would have been a good shot yesterday. Do it next time. Make it you Christmas card if you send them.

Jackie. Yes I saw where they a close.  I just have to get down there next time over.
Heard from GD and son in London today. They got there early Sat. and did quite a bit it seems. Her husband gets there today. He was in a golf tournament  in Ireland for a week. Was suppose to be in St. Andrews Scotland but was changed. He has  Got a good Itinerary planned. He is back and forth there all the time as his main company office is in London. Normally he just goes in and out. Don't know how he stands to fly so much. He gets the same seat on the place. Sleeps the whole 7 hours. Can do that in these new seats that make into like a bed. Would be my way to go if could afford. So expensive  to fly now. Will come down a little in September I hope.

Shirley

Okay, Bubble, my dumb computer/mouse won't let me enlarge, guess I could download & then know how to enlarge.  I do see the water tower but it is the brownish/tan piece of landscape to the left that looks like could be farm land or a crop ready to harvest.... (with Kansas eyes).

My son just sent photos from Geneva, (left London this morning) of sculptures, a lake & sunflowers.  He also uses his iPhone.  Can't blame anyone for not taking a camera when the phones do such a good job now.  Not a zoom like our Lumix, though.

Patricia, sometimes all this paper work & appointments takes over our lives.  Hope all's well with you.

jackwv

Shirley I took the lumix  and used it for a long shot at the hills beyond the park, from the same spont I then  zoomed on a small road running past the farm in the distance (no cows tonight)   Then took one of the Water Tank about 4 miles away.
The IPhone is good but unable to compete with a good camera.

Sandy

Wow Jack, that is really something!

Sandy thanks, and the camera is a fixed lens, do not have to carry separate lens.   I just point and shoot, the camera does all the work.  Did not even use a tripod, but never have one along with me.

so_P_bubble

That really is a super-super-zoom!  such clear details too! You could almost count the grass blades!
But then for sure it is an expensive camera.
No chance to even wish for that as a Chanuka present! lol

Vanilla-Jackie

Definitely not a hot air balloon...yes surprising what good photos take place when we just point and shoot...a great close-up Jack...

jackwv

Bubble, there are so many reasonably priced  good cameras on the market today.  Our WalMart and Target for example carry older models. I have had mine for several years, gave the previous one to my Daughter.   Many have good zoom and take video.  I like not having to carry additional lens.  Impressive when I see a pro, but for me not necessary.

so_P_bubble

Jack I have a pocket size 10 X zoom FujiFilm, makes quite good pictures as you may have noticed, but I envy that extraordinary zoom of yours.  I like to make macro but the 10X zoom is not the best for that. Of course scenery that far is out of the question. I don't care about video.
I should try to use it more. I've been lazy lately, no incentive.

Shirley

WOW, Jack, great shots.... and many thanks!  Even after all these years of being impressed with their zoom, I never fail to catch my breath with how good they are.  Gets me all excited about playing with them again.  Like you said, one that can be hand held & don't have to carry extra lens like our old 35mm ones.  Looks like grazing land & maybe keeping the cows off until it turns greener.

Without getting my camera out, let's let everyone know which one that is..  A 60x zoom & is the Panasonic Lumix FZ 70.... is that right?  I think I paid about $500 for mine (worth every penny) & it came with a whole packet of other stuff (like SD card & extra battery, etc).  I just checked, seems Amazon has it listed for under $400 by a couple vendors... B&H no longer has it available.  I've never bought a used, Amazon lists some & also a couple with outrageous prices.  Anyway, I'm pleased with mine & not looking for anything with more zoom or better.  Thanks for showing us what is up in that corner, Jack!

Ah, Bubble, you were spoiled with having someone to share the fun for a while.  Wonderful to have our kids around but not the same as someone our own age/vintage, right?  Hope you get to spend a month or so in Canada soon & then time for Santa's visit with you again.   ;)

so_P_bubble

Yes Shirley it sure was fun.  But no more traveling for me: it is getting too hard health-wise. :(
I can only hope that Don will be apt to it again in March.
There is lots more for him to tour around and visit  here.

I am so glad I did visit North Caroline in 2005 and the Canada last time.  Those were my most memorable
trips and vacations.

Vanilla-Jackie

Mine is a Panasonic Lumix...

so_P_bubble

Vanilla, also a 60x zoom?
