Jean, I do think the men get more involved with their grandbabies than they had a chance to do with their own babies.  He looks so at ease holding her... and what a sweet name!  Handsome son and darling great, congratulations to all.  Gorgeous gardenia, those leaves look so thick & healthy.  Love the smell.

Sato, beautiful photo... and the iris almost looks like an orchid.  I have a bed of Japanese iris, yellow & white, that just finished blooming. 

Got all the cats taken care of, last "midnight snack" for each.... and I'm heading to bed.  Having trouble getting caught up with normal chores that got pushed back to get the big stuff taken care of.  Sweet dreams to all...  Shirley

Jean and Larry,   Congratulations on your new great-grand-daughter,  little Jasmine.   Love her name.  What a great picture of your son and his new little daughter.  Little boys are wonderful..... but a little girl is just special.   I had 3 sons and  now have 3 sweet little great-grand-daughters.  Having a wonderful, healthy baby is most important.   

Do you live close to them, or are they the ones who live in Silver Springs?   Do hope you can get to see her soon?

t is cute how the baby eagles are cleaning up their nest today. Each carry a piece of branch over to the side of the nest keeping the middle clean. Wonder if that is a way of keeping them selves from falling out of the nest. Making a wall.

It takes some "old dogs" awhile to learn new tricks. I've had quite a time with this new way of posting.

The other day we were talking about fiddleheads in the Soda Shoppe. Here's a picture of the fiddlehead pickles my granddaughter made. She's my "back to nature" girl. 

Jean - Your great-granddaughter is beautiful! Nice looking Grandpa she has, too. I did a double take on your gardenia picture. I have one I took a few years ago that is very similar. I love them but haven't had good luck with my bush.

The cicada are now reaching their peak in our area.   I had removed a large pin oak years back and they are trying to find other trees to climb.  Several days ago I spotted several on my Cleveland Pear Tree.  This morning I went out to record their sound and was shocked to see the number on my tree. They will only be around for about 2 months and then wait for 17 years (doubt I will see them again)   Here is a photo of the trunk of my tree, and I then reached in with my iPhone and recorded several minutes of them and their sound.  The link to the video is in that discussion.

Another kind of flower, BIYOU YANAGI, (its scientific name : Hypericum chinense var. salicifolia, maybe native in Japan or China) I happened to find on the way of my rehabilitation walking.

I was able to register seniorsandfriends this morning.

It became late, but I can enroll in Seniorsandfriends and am glad that I can see the work of everybody.

I had heart failure on February 17 and was admitted to the hospital in Fukuyama.
I intended to undergo rehabilitation during hospitalization and took the photo of the cherry blossom which bloomed in the garden of the
hospital. The others that I take the medicine for the heart do not have the abnormality, and it can take a photograph to walk.
I walked the long corridor of the hospital with my physical therapist as rehabilitation in the morning and walked the garden of the hospital where cherry blossoms bloomed in the afternoon, intended to undergo rehabilitation and took the photograph of the cherry
blossom.
I am hospitalized for two months and leave the hospital on April 27 and take a rest at home afterwards.

What a beautiful BIYOU YANAGI Sato.  Is that a bush? I love the vibrant yellow.  It reminds me a little of the acacia tree that we have here.

How lovely, like Sato, to have flowers and pretty trees as you walk in the grounds of your hospital and its rehabilitation gardens....as far as I am aware, we don't have hospitals like that here in UK, perhaps in the private run hospitals but I am sure not in our NHS hospitals....but I can sure see how the beauty of colour and life, would help in ones recovery.....

I was able to get some nice shots of Farrah's coloring and one of her with her cat grass for those who asked about it. It is a special grass that aids in their digestion. The photos are cropped close, she looks large. However while her limbs are long and her body solid, she is small. While the gray tabby markings are there, she also has the large stripes, small chevon markings, and "ruff" of an Abyssinian cat breed.

Angelface, Farrah has a healthy shiny coat....don't we just love, and need our furbabies...happy she has found her forever home....

Sachiko. Happy to see you back. Hope you are beginning to feel much better. Once settled back home and now that summer weather coming you will be back feeling your best again.

Patricia, Farrah is beautiful and I like your bringing the grass inside for a treat. 

angel - Farrah is beautiful!  Her markings are very much like my orange and white tabby, except that Farrah looks fluffier, with more of a ruff.  Definitely a tabby face!

Beverly, your gr-daughter did a beautiful job canning, my mother would be singing her praises for having them look so nice.  I would love to taste one.

Jack, I am shuddering at the sight of so many "bugs" on one tree!  I've never seen anything like that.  I'm anxious to see the video & know yours sound like the ones around here...or if they have a north-eastern accent.    What to they eat/live on all those years & even as the show up like this? 

Wonderful to see you back, Sachiko!  What a long time to spend in the hospital, did you have surgery or what procedures do they use most for heart patients in Japan?  In this part of the US having by-pass or valve replacement is done almost routinely, my 8 day stay was long by most comparisons.  Because my husband was so weak I did not go back for rehab, but I do think it is very important and necessary.  Happy to see you & your photos ... and husband again.  It does take quite a while to get strength back, my thoughts & prayers for your complete recovery. 

Sato, another gorgeous flower that I have never seen before.  You have not lost your touch for finding beauty where ever you are.   My first thought to compare with is the buttercup that grows in my berm, not blooming yet, and not nearly as large.   I see Jackie posted a link to the buttercup, that is what I have.

Patricia, I came to see your Farrah before & forgot to leave a message here.  I'd love to know what kind of grass you planted so I can offer my furbabies some.  I noticed that Tom & Tiger are searching for some this year, that they used to find on the river bank... they don't eat what grows in my yard but can't seem to find what they are looking for.  I do give them the dry food that has grass in it but all of them like to munch.  When I had short, stripped ornamental grass that I brought in with some flowers & sat on the floor in the entry hall, I discovered Lauren thought it was just for her & would munch as long as it was there!  That type grass is so invasive I got it all pulled out so nothing left for her to eat.  Farrah is very unusual & pretty. 

Cat grass is a special type of grass that nowadays is grown primarily for cats. It helps clean out their stomach and helps with their digestion, similar to our Rolaids or Tums. I found the seeds at a gardening center, but you can probably look it up on the internet. Amazon,  or in places where seed packets are sold.
