Sachiko3

Bubble, Welcome back! Your honeymoon would be very happy.

jackwv

Hot day but this evening I went to the park hoping to get a few photos of the Strawberry Moon.  Cloudy in the east and did not even see it.  Did check it out on youtube.    I was, however, rewarded with a nice sunset.

Sachiko3

Jack, this is uncommon rare scenery! It is a mysterious hue.

Shirley

Sachiko, your veggies always look beautiful & your photos are so crisp & colorful!  My father used to grow the large white radishes... they were not as hot as the red ones.  I haven't had one in years.  Great to see you back.

Jackie, my father also grew horseradish and it tasted nothing like his white ones... he would grind the horseradish & make a super-hot relish that I did not eat.  He & his friends delighted in seeing who could stand the hottest.

Patricia, that is such a neat way to grow your plants.  Do you/will you use a grow light in winter?

Jack, that is a gorgeous photo, unusual tree shape on the right.   Looks like a bird or helicoptor near the top right side of the tree.

I am disappointed in the photos I took in Colorado last week.  The hike through the woods with streams splashing everywhere just did not show up like I expected.  It was such a beautiful area it was difficult to just "capture" one spot.   I think I should have another look to see if I can crop more individual scenes.

Our electricity was out for several hours today, was hot but the worst part was I don't "do nothing" very well and couldn't even get the garage doors open without power, so couldn't run errands, do laundry, no computer.  I survived.

Sachiko3

Shirley, I recover until I can take photos and become able to post them to Seniors&Friends, and I am pleased very much it.

My husband planted only one seedling of cherry tomato in our garden. If the tomatos are ripend, this is because we can harvest them immediately.  Now, so many cherry tomatoes grow.

halkel

Sachiko3, you make my mouth water with those picture of your husbands tomato plants.  He has a great looking crop.

Sachiko I was driving and spotted the sunset.  Like the spot at the top of one hill but by the time I reached it the sun was behind clouds and did not come back out.  I did not adjust the color that hue was natural.

Shirley I checked and that was just a small vine sticking out from the top of the tree.

Like horseradish, not a fan of raw tomatoes but eat them cooked, in sauce etc.   Was out for fathers day and had a steak salad, the description did not include tomatoes but asked and the waiter said he would note it for the chef.  I received the salad with three larges pieces of tomato.   The waiter apologized but I told him I would survive and lifted them off.

One year my neighbor rented her condo unit to a man who had a cherry tomato plant in a large container.  He'd give me some tomatoes occasionally.  He went on vacation for a couple of weeks and asked me to water the plant for him, which I did.  He told me to take as many tomatoes as I wanted so I had a lot of salads that year.  I didn't use to like fresh tomatoes but when I had some tomatoes and I was the only one to eat them, I found I liked them.  I cannot eat a tomato like an apple as my friends did, but I do like them on salads.

Sachiko, those tomatoes will soon be ripe and will taste delicious, I'm sure.  I like tomatoes in my salads and on my sandwiches.  In fact, I can't think of any vegetable I don't like.  Although tomatoes are categorized a fruit scientifically I think of them as a vegetable.

Jack, that's a beautiful sunset.  I've got to get in the habit of taking my little ZS 10 Camera with me when we go places.  I like to use the zoom and the phone camera isn't a good substitute in my opinion.  We went across the bay yesterday and, of course, I forgot my camera.

jackwv

Jean thanks.   I left yesterday to take photos, and went several blocks then realized I forgot the good camera.  I went back for it.  Agree with you that the IPhone camera is decent for snapshots but prefer the camera.

Joy

Jack, I am surprised to learn that you don't like fresh tomatoes .   I don't think there are many things better than a sandwich with a fresh, home-grown tomato and mayonnaise and salt and pepper.  I just love them. Don't even need lettuce, although a BLT is also good.  I like tomatoes any way.  I don't like them real ripe, tho.   Partly green and a good meaty inside.  I am making myself so hungry and I don't have any tomatoes. I can't wait for some good , home-grown Maryland tomatoes.  I was at a Farmers Market on Sat. and not one vendor with any tomatoes at all.   I think a lot of the fresh veggies will be a little later this summer,  because of all the rain, the farmers were late getting their crops in.  I noticed on Sat. that the wheat and corn fields were not nearly as high as they should have been by this time.

Loved your sunset picture.  Beautiful colors.

Sachiko, so many good looking vegetables, I'm drooling at the thought of what can be done with them! I like tomatoes just about any way. However, fresh with just a sprinkling of salt is always good!

Shirley

Ah, Joy, a lady after my own tastes..." I don't like them real ripe, tho.   Partly green and a good meaty inside."  I took a couple large tomatoes (smelled like tomatoes, anyway) to Colorado last week & neither son likes tomatoes yet... so I brought them home & just had a plate of sliced tomatoes myself.  They were past our favorite point & not like home grown, but better than nothing.  I even like a tomato, butter & bread sandwich.

Sachiko, your tomatoes look delicious. I tried growing the cherry tomatoes without any success but have learned to enjoy ones from the store.  I was surprised one time when I had some go old/soft in the refrigerator... took them down to the river bank thinking just about anything from birds to raccoons, beaver or whatever would be thrilled to have them.  Those little red tomatoes lay there for days without any critter eating.  Made me wonder if there was something about them they knew that we don't. With home grown you know what type plants you have and what type sprays used around them!

Miserable hot here, hoped to do some yard work but not going to risk heat stroke.  Need to check on the yard guys that worked here a few years ago.  Their owner/boss died & someone else is running the company and not the same guys (they do a neighbor's yard) but need to find someone... I never liked yard work, for sure not in the sun!

Yep, Patricia, just about any way........

jackwv

Well I never considered myself normal :)  Like tomato piccalilli, tomato paste, tomato sauce, soup, and ketchup, must have been something in my youth but I have tried and just will not eat a raw tomato.

angelface555

Jack, I love liver pate but cannot stand liver! Everyone has their own idiosyncrasies.

jackwv

Thanks Patricia now in my case

        idiosyncrasies.   :idiot2: :idiot2:

JeanneP

Sachiko   That is a lot of cherry tomatoes from just one plant. I meant to put one in a container this year but left it late.  My SIL brings me lots of his.

Jack. What a great shot of that Sunset. Make a great picture to frame when doing the Seasons.

And What a Wind Storm we got last night. Was 10pm and the rain came. Then the wind of they say 76 miles a hour. Heard a crash and half of a big old tree next door fell on the house. its new so sitting empty. I was O.K other than the usual mess of tree limbs in my front yard.

So now back up again to 90s today. It is 87 now.  I for one tired of it. Was looking forward to summer but now looking forward to Fall.
JeanneP

Sandy

I like tomatoes and tomato products,
but unfortunately they are one fruit that I
have become allergic to,  as I have gotten older.
Sadly the list gets longer and longer.

Good morning!

halkel, Jack, Mary Ann, Jean, Joy, angelface, Shirley, JeanneP, Sandy, thank you very much for your comments!
As it is digested little by little though there are so a lot of fruits, I can harvest them immediately and am glad.
My husband planted the normal tomato in his vegetables garden, too..

jackwv

Not having the brutal weather they are having in the west.  We were in the high 80's and went up to the park at sundown.   Was on the opposite side of the hill and did not get the sundown but took two photos of the clouds in the east that were reflecting the sundown.  The second photo is not a crop but a zoom.

JeanneP

Great shots. I have never seen clouds that colour.  And look how green the land looks.  Reminds me of the Yorkshire moors.

As we are having such hot weather here I am glad that we are getting some storms at night otherwise the grass and trees would be burning up already. My yard looks like so nice and dark green.  I usually had a problem with Creeping Charlie in the months of May and early june. The hot weather seems to have killed it.

Jack, wonderful photos! The form of the cloud is like the mountain and is beautiful. In Japan, it rains every day now in the rainy season. I want to see our sunset, too.

jackwv

JeanneP, earlier the clouds would have been bright white, but like the way they picked up the color.

Sachiko, they do look a bit like mountains.  Would trade you the clouds for your mountain view.

Mary Ann

I live in a hollow so I do not see actual sunsets but I do see beautiful cloud formations.  Last night the clouds were pink and I thought "red sky at night, sailors delight".  Sure - this morning they're pink again and "red sky in morning, sailors take warning".  We are promised a storm this afternoon so we shall see which sky to believe.

At any rate, Jack, the clouds were not nearly as pretty as your picture.

JeanneP

Can't think what News Station I had on this morning but they were telling the story of the Sunset in the East and did show a shot a lot like your Jack.  You could have sent them yours. They were better.
JeanneP

jackwv

Mary Ann and Jean thank you.  I was just in the process of posting two more cloud photos.   Remember how we would watch the sky and stars.  Unable to get a good star shot, but kept several cloud photos that, for me, had a message.

His hand reaching out

A passing angel

Jeanne P your post just popped up, thanks, the two above were posted on the old site, so you may recall.

Mary Ann

Jack, I remember the Angel shot but not His Hand.  We don't get unusual cloud formations for some reason, but we do have some beautiful skies.  One day this week the sky was that lovely blue with patches of cotton balls all over.  This was in the morning and by afternoon most of the clouds were gone and we had only blue sky.
