Beverley, he went all over the place but he particularly liked Shay May (Shae Mae? sp?)

They debated whether to go until boarding time. Lots of texting going on between us! All three voted "yes". One of the girls texted me awhile ago and said all is well and they landed in Doha, Qatar. I think they have a 10 hour wait there. Lauri said on her last trip that the airport there is beautiful and luxurious. Then tonight on to Bangkok.

JaneS

Thank you BUBBLE for posting the pictures for me.  By way of explanation....

#1 is looking west on the main street of my little home town.  That's the corner of second street and the pillars to the west are the hotel...a good place to stay and great place to eat!  If you turned the other way, it would be one block to Front Street where I grew up and 2 blocks to the bridge over the Susquehanna river.  The streets are numbered to Eighth Street and then the North/South Route 15 goes through the town.  The high school where I went in on that corner and for 5 years of my life, I walked it every day 4 times as day during the school year and sometimes went back at night for sports events.  We didn't have a cafeteria so went home for lunch.  There is a bit more of our town on the other side of the highway and it's grown by leaps and bounds since I was young.

#2 This is on a side street at a corner every one who has lived here any amount of time calls "Church Corner".  Out of 4 corners 3 have major churches on them.  And the doggie in the photo is Cooper he's my great-grand-doggy.  He lives with Frankie.

This is probably a lot more than you ever wanted to know but it where I live and where I grew up.  It's still a nice, friendly town!

Jane, looks like a very peaceful place to live! The first photo with rain sparkling on the street, looks like...and my brain went dead.... you know who I mean, fav artist of all homespun street scenes, snow, rain, etc. Wow... still blank. Anyway, great job with the photos! We also walked home for lunch & as soon as the war was over my parents bought a house with extra land, at the edge of the city limits, so these short legs had to boogie to make it back & forth in one hour & 10 min. Thanks for sharing the photos AND...

Thank you, Bubble for posting & the link!

Jane, I loved the pictures of your hometown, Lewisburg PA.  It looks like a nice place to have lived.

Shirley, were you thinking of Thomas Kincaid?  He painted some beautiful pictures.

Beverly, neat picture of "your girls".  They do look related to each other.

Jane, very nice photos of your hometown. It looks like a peaceful, lovely place to live.

Beverly, I hope your girls have a wonderful trip.

Jane, what a lovely town.

Jane looks like a nice area. When I came here in1965 my town looked like that or at least my part. I still on outskirts but now one foot t in county and one where  city now comes to. Frontage now enterence to main interstate. And hotels. Fast foods. Gas stations. Strip malls .wallmarts. All built. Thank goodness I still have frontage road enterence
Amazing how a place can change in say 30 years. Was all farmland 50 years ago.

It is handy for me but makes me sad.

Next week I present  for the residents the homemade version of my radio show. I'm not certain of the extent of their interest in classical music, but it will be interesting to find out. It will be a short programme - a little under an hour so it shouldn't be too much of an endurance test. But it feels good to be involved again.

I am sure you will recognize this "old S&F friend" of many years.
It was taken this past fall, at Jack's front door.

Jane- I enjoyed looking at pictures of Lewisburg.  Reminds me very much of the town I've lived in here in CA, for the past 60 years.  Used to be a lovely little small town, but then "Silicon Valley" arrived, and now my town is unrecognizable. :(  Frankie's dog Cooper, looks like he might be a Springer Spaniel?  Had three of them over the years, and loved them dearly.

Marilyne

Beverly - Your three girls are beautiful, and look so happy!  I'm sure they're glad they decided to go to Thailand, and are having a wonderful time!

Amy

Beautiful photo of Mimi Bubble.... Goldens seem to have a "smile" and such kind eyes.
Beverly, lovely young ladies ,they will have a time of their life there.
Jane, I commented in SS

Bev, I don't know if I commented on your daughter and granddaughters? It sounds as if they will have a lovely trip and I have a friend whose daughter visits there often, and she loves it there!

Bubble, let Jack know how much we appreciate seeing Mini again! We miss all those photos and Jack!

Mary Ann

It was nice to see a recent picture of Mimi.  I too miss her and Jack.

Don, it is good to know you are going to present your program.  I am sure when the residents listen to your comments and explanations, they will enjoy the music more.  I know a lot of us would like to be there with you.

JaneS

Thanks for all the nice comments about "my town"! We also have all those fast food places, WM and major grocery stores and auto service centers but they are all along the highway that goes through town.  The 9 blocks people call "in town" has remained pretty much the same over the years.  Lots of the stores have changed ownership and types of business but the "air" is the same.  I love walking "uptown" and just feeling how it feels!

Nice to see MIMI.  Please give JACK my good wishes and tell him we all miss him!

Beverly, I've been on such a rush the last couple weeks my brain is hardly recording what eyes see. Love how vibrant your girls look, so pretty and excited to be on an adventure together. Do hope all goes well, seems few getting around these days, bet they will be treated like royalty.

So good to see Mimi again, would love to give her a big hug. I want a dog so bad but hate to make these cats miserable since they are so afraid of dogs. Not Mama Callie, she whacked the neighbor's German Shepherd one day when they stopped to visit on the way to the dog park. Dog wanted to sniff the cat & cat thought it got too close & took her little white paw & drew blood on her nose. We have a pit bull next door that thinks it is her job to bark at cats every evening when we go to the river. One night when we came back up pit bull was in the corner of HER side of the fence when Callie went over to see what had been on HER side recently, poor pit bull backed off when Callie stood her ground, ears back & hissed at the dog. Finally pit bull went off in disgrace! I think I would love a Golden but actually would like one that barked at strangers instead of kissing them to death! All of Jack's Goldens had such different expressions.... but each one so loveable. Thanks for sharing it, Bubble.

Don, I'm sure your friends & neighbors will welcome the music. Actually many well known tunes come from the classics, don't they? Glad you are feeling more like your old self.

Yep, Mary Ann, Thomas Kincaid is the name I couldn't think of... my kids used to call it "brain freeze" when they had it, but old age when you past 30.  ;)

JeanneP

Don. That sound great. They will really enjoy it. We envy them being so lucky. how we miss it on Sundays. That is the only kind of music I listen to. Oh! the old Country music I love. But even now that is getting changed with all the new young singers.
Now is a radio station setting you up? Maybe get big enough we can pick it up one day.
You take care of yourself during the mess that all the world seems to be getting involved in now. A horrible Virus to start up.

My daughter and g-daughters have been having a wonderful time in Chaing Mai, Thailand, but are now trying to get home! G-daughter Brynn fell on the street and badly sprained her ankle. They tried to get an earlier flight but couldn't. If all goes well they'll fly out tomrrow as scheduled. They returned to Bangkok early and are staying at a hotel. Bangkok is closing all public places tomorrow.  :o Yesterday they went shopping at a mall........trying to make the most of their time left.

Amy - I want some of those toilet paper seeds!  ;)

Chang Mai is one of the most beautiful places there, and much safer than Bangkok.  Did they manage to find a flight?
My son is still there and asked to prolong his visa: much better to remain there than try going back to UK.
