Interesting to know, Michael. The Dayton ham convention drew absolutely huge crowds and lasted three days. If I had to pick a favorite Hamfest, though, I would have to say it was the one at Timonium, Maryland. I got out of Ham Radio when I got divorced, moved and went back to college.

I looked up The Comet and, sure enough, that is the one. It looks like they have added to it over the years. I just can't remember how old I was the last time I was at the amusement park, but I can tell you that I spent as much time as I could on the pony ride and the merry-go-round and ate a lot of cotton candy.

Sigh...he's getting older and coming into his own. Whatever happened to that little one?

Amy

Look at those butter brown eyes and curly hair!!! All too soon they grow up quick..too quick.

And no comment on the blue hair?  At least it is not a tattoo, and the little diamond-like earring is not too noticeable.

patricia19

Bubble, it's not uncommon to see vegetable-dyed colored hair, pink blue, and purple or more in all ages, from mine and yours to toddlers; and some children, have their ears pierced. It's a popular phase.

Amy

Patricia, there is a young lady at the grocery store with 3 different colours in her hair..looks nice on her.

[/font]It was when my gr-daughter got the first tattoo that showed  .... and didn't stop there. So much more acceptable now than when I was growing up. But she is climbing the corporate ladder, smart as a tack & nobody cares about those tattoos but Grammy. Even her older & more reserved brother admits when they want a job done right she is the first choice. Both engineers for the same company. Bubble, we are out voted with these kids being original thinkers! Aviv is such a doll. I have no doubt he will be a success in whatever he does! Love watching him grow up.

This year St Patrick Day and Purim fall on the same date.
Because of the bad weather getting worse, it was decided to have the celebrations one or two days earlier. So school children came to class in their costume.
Aviv is sitting in the front with a sword in his hand.

Bubble, it looks like everyone had a happy Purim! While I still don't connect the holiday and dressing in costume, it must be a fun time for all! Perhaps the idea of costumes came from early reenactments?

Edit; Look at it this way, you've got plus 48, and I've got minus 20 so far this morning!

Shirley

I think it is so neat that Illy jumps in to celebrate with Aviv, I expect she had the same kind of mother.  ;)  Happy family you have, Bubble, and thank you so much for sharing. I had to Google the holiday, interesting and I'm surprised I've never heard of it before you.

Amy

Luna told Skye she would also fit on the couch.....sort of :))

For Gloria

This is my daughter and their dog standing near a Saguaro. So many don't know how tall they can get. The ons she is standing next to was most likely a little one when the Native Americans were riding their horses there in Arizona. Maybe fighting a different or attacking wagon trains. Who knows. Was taken in Arizona just over the border from California.

BUBBLE  thank you. I was amazed when I first saw them in Arizona, they always fascinated me.

so_P_bubble also there are a much smaller cati growing out there.WE ahve a couple we got a dry one of them laying on the fire place mantle. an I have a walking cane made with one,is abut a 1&1/4" in diametet with a peice of walnut about 4" long in it at the bottem with a rubber pad on it at the end and a  peice that has a 90 degree at the top for a handle, was Nancy's grandads walking cae. and she dug it out and let me use it when I had my knee replacement. shure got a lot of commentments on it,when I was using it. Have a good day.

Shirley

Oh, Amy, those dogs are a hoot! Can't get over their expressions, "do I haffta, Mom?" Is Luna a doberman?  My Dobe (when I was little) was purebred but Dad didn't want the breeder to clip tail & ears, I didn't know it was a doberman until years later & Dad explained the guy owed him money & offered a pup instead. Dad gave it to me for my 6th birthday because Mom didn't want another thing to take care of with 5 kids. It worked, a family dog but he slipped it in the right way!

I still think we need to hop in the motorhome, Gloria, & float around the world with first stop in AZ & that part because those wild flowers & saguaro should be blooming soon. Tell Regina to keep us posted. She sure looks fit & I know she's over 21 but doesn't look it! Since Cas & I built a house like they did, I'd love to see their "space".  We only had one acre to work with, though.

Time to gather up the campers & take a tour, no problems & plenty of laughs. How about that, Lloyd & Nancy?

Thanks for posting the photos, Bubble, wouldn't you love to join us in the trek around the US? We could swing around up north & pick up Amy & Kyle, but all the dogs & cats?

Amy

Shirley, Skye is a Great Dane rescue and Luna is a Great Dane x Great Pyrenesse...so she will be a big girl.

Gloria, that is a big,(and old!), saguaro! I'd seen some in Arizona in the sixties when visiting my parents' friends but didn't remember much about them or if it was discussed. It's always nice to know about our environment!

Amy, great to see the "pups" again! I wondered if there was a reason for the similarities in their names?

Shirley, Let's play tourists today and hop in that famous bus. Destination: London, the Queen's palace.

I am afraid, no captions on the photos I received from Eitan.

Bubble - Loved seeing your photos, first thing this morning.   Wish I were there in person, to enjoy such an awesome place!

PIty that Vanilla is not here to explain where that is exactly.  She would have enjoyed seeing them.

Shirley

Wow, Bubble, gorgeous photos!  Isn't that Winsor Castle?  Sure looks like parts I've seen, but I didn't get that grand of a tour!  How lucky he is to enjoy that traveling & lucky WE are getting to share the photos!  Regardless of opinions negative to the Royals, they are doing a special job taking care of historical places for the world. Please thank Eitan for letting you share with all of us. I am thrilled to return to a spot I visited back in 1955 and didn't have a camera with me. Somewhere out on that grass we sat down for a picnic of strawberry shortcake a couple from Kentucky brought for a visit to Winsor. We rode the tube from Marlow, Buckinghamshire, a new adventure for 2 young GIs & brides.

patricia19

Bubble, thank you and thank Eitan for letting us see photos of a place, a time, and a history from long ago.
