It's barbaric, and horrific.

Thanks all.  I try to stay away from TV and news, it stresses me too much, even if here in town I am safe.

Three months old already! And getting heavier too.

Amy

What a happy bundle of joy!!! Yes, she is growing.

Also like your cyclamen, did you know that some of the white ones have a lovely scent?

This is the thing.  One year, quite a while back, I said to myself, said I: "I would like to do a medium sized tree all in crystal.  Not necessarily the real stuff, but looking like crystal."

And so I did.  It became famous in these parts and Everyone came to see it.  I passed it on to daughter Debi some years ago now.  I could not do it if my life depended on it.  Seriously, it would be the death of me, and not the congestive heart failure my doctors tell me is doing the job.  Debi does a beautiful job with the Crystal Tree.

JaneS

It's absolutely beautiful, MARYPAGE! And I bet it even more beautiful in person!

Thanks to all.  I am and always have been absolutely mesmerized by the Crystal Tree, so I love to have it work its magic on others, even though photos are not as awesome as the real thing.

It's Christmas Eve!  May yours be perfection.  I like to hope these religiously-inspired holidays are a fun time of Joy for all those born into other beliefs, as well and all.  Perhaps we will all learn to tolerate and LOVE one another as future generations come along.  We can but hope so, and I am one who chooses to respect and LOVE every other human being.  After all, homo sapiens is the group we each and all are a part of.

Group Hug!

Jane S, I have been meaning to ell you what beautiful great grandchildren you have, and to tell you that I have an Emma, as well.  It is quite a popular name among the young people today, and one I have always been fond of.

Phyllis, the  green one does not have the "red" fire centre as it just wouldn't look good in it. The other two do have the red centres.

Beautiful, Amy.  You must have the eyes of a hawk and the patience of Job!

I'll say!  No, seriously, I'm from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and we are very into quilting (not I) and I know good quilting when I see it.  That is GOOD quilting!

Amy

Phyllis, thank you. Thoroughly enjoy doing these..my relaxing time.

MaryPage, thank you. A hobby I do enjoy.

Amy, I second all the earlier comments about your quilts, and I third and forth second Phyllis's comment!

My second husband came from Kentucky's hills, and they had several quilts lying around and also draped over porch railings. When I asked about them, they would casually mention they were from one of the family's though that family member may have been from previous centuries.

I had a baby quilt made for my daughter, long ago that I loved and passed on to my niece whose now in her late forties and still has it.

New couple: today is the wedding!

Astro

Congratulations to the newlyweds!  May they have much happiness.

MarsGal

Amy, my Mom used to do quilting. Sue and I still have our quilts she made for us over 50 years ago. I suppose Barb has hers too, but I never asked. Mine is a Dresden Plate pattern. I don't know what Sue's pattern is but it is embroidered rather than piecework like mine.

Amy

MG, have you had your quilt appraised? If not it may be something to look into. Older quilts can have a high value and not lust one of the heart. If there is a quilting group or a quilt show near you it may be worth looking into.

I don't think either one of us wants to give up our quilts just yet, but I do believe there is a place up along Rt. 15 that sells quilts, or used to. It has been quite a while since I've been up that way. Also, the Pennsylvania Farm Show is held each year just across the river from me. And wouldn't you know kit, I just checked when it opens this year. The site says today is the offical opening day, but some events have been going since Friday. Huh! That explains the bad weather. They changed the dates from the beginning of February to January. The rumor was to get away from the bad weather that seemed to crop up about then every year. Well, if that is so, it didn't work. The weather moved with it.

I am almost positive used to have a quilt demo and auction. I don't see it listed now, but there are plenty of other things going on. The Sheep to Shawl demo and auction is still going. Lots of new  things since I was last there. https://www.farmshow.pa.gov/pafarmshow/Pages/Schedule-of-Events-.aspx

It has been snowing for a while now. It started out light, but now it as switch to heavy. I forgot to check the time the when it started.

Amy

MG, no don't give up the quilts! They can be appraised ,you would be surprised at the value of "old" quilts!!

edited to add, I would love to go to that Sheep to shawl.  We had a sheep shearer come in to shear our sheep and I did think at one time I would love to spin their wool...just never go to it..

These are my plants such as they are. The one on the upper left has four leaves in each cluster, the stems turn woody, and I would love to know what it's called. It needs staking, I haven't got around to it.

Up to now, we've had our usual 0.02 accumulation, but today we had lots of the white fluffy stuff.

January is not our usual dry, frigid cold this year. Second photo, next page.

Everyone was surprised and happy, except those shoveling the walks or driving in it.
