Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Yes I am proud of him. he will be a fine young man, considerate of the people around him. And his report card for this term was excellent: the lowest grade was 95 in English. and he received a 100 in math!

patricia19

A very well-rounded young man, Bubble.

Amy

Bubble, what a handsome young man Aviv is..

That is a lot of snow, Amy.

While we, here in Alaska are awaiting the imminent eruption of Mount Spur, one of our volcanoes

Amy

Bubble, no not dangerous...but I think it is pretty!. If we/mankind tried to sculpt like that it wouldn't work.

Patricia, is this near you???

No, it's not close to any settlement, it's on the west side of Cook Inlet thirty miles west of Anchorage. However, eruption intervals are getting closer, and it disrupts air travel over the pole which is one of the heaviest traveled routes. ""One or more explosive events lasting one or a few hours would produce ash clouds carried downwind for hundreds of miles, and the uninhabited area around Mount Spurr would be inundated by pyroclastic flows, mudflows (lahars), and ballistic showers," AVO said."

Amy

This is on the neighbours carport...won't last long as we are now getting rain.

That's that overhead atmospheric river they were talking about. Your area seems to be in the same pattern as the Midwest through the Atlantic seaboard of the US.

" Warm storm to trigger quick flooding in northeast US, southeast Canada

A warm storm will bring rain over areas of deep snow and frozen rivers raising the risk of urban and ice jam flooding in the northern tier of the United States and the southern tier of Canada this week."

We're thirty & cloudy presently at ten am, but expecting 1–3 inches of snow tomorrow, but I doubt if it'll stick.

Blooming season in Israel.
These were taken around Jerusalem yesterday

patricia19

Bubble, absolutely delicate and lovely! I envy Israel's seasons as I look out on a sea of ice.

Ours will show in mid-April through May.

so_P_bubble

and would you believe it? Winter made a came back this night with high wind, pelting rain and that penetrating cold.  I wonder what that will do to those lovely flowers :(

For Patricia

Jackie and Shadows' fledglings[/size]

MarsGal

What happened to the third chick, does anybody know? Saw it had died.

patricia19

Thank you, Bubble, for posting these for me! The weather has been stormy and turbulent all over, it seems. Hopefully it'll calm down.

MG, one of the original two, died in a snowstorm. The snow covered the nest.

The remaining, larger original has been testing out his wings. The third fledging is still a bit smaller and a couple of days behind in learning.

MarsGal

I noticed that the larger one has been picking on the smaller one. So far, I haven't seen the smaller one fight back much.

patricia19

That seems to be the age-old story of older picking on younger across every species, doesn't it.

I imagine a lot of that will stop as the little one grows more. In one of the osprey nests, it's a similar story.

Amy

Bubble, beautiful flowers!! The last one looks to be of the poppy family.

Patricia, chicks are so cute!! No sighting of the eagles last time we went to the dump. I think they are on a nest somewhere..

The two chicks are advancing steadily. Ruffling and picking feathers, hopping around the nest and at times, attempting to eat by themselves from the food in the nest.

Yesterday, there were two shots heard in the video and both parent were on the alert and one would stay at the best while the other flew about, scanning.
