Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I am so sorry Jack to hear that you
had  to have  Jessie put to sleep...
I think that we know when the time has come,
and as difficult  as it is,  we make the correct
decision.     I know that  this is a very difficult
time for you.

Hugs

Jack. Sorry to hear that Jessie has gone.  First my Friends at 15 then my grandsons the next day 15 and Now Jessie . Its wonderful now that our pets can go so many years. All the pleasure they give you. All these dogs went so peacefully. That was good. The vets know best as to when to let them go.  Aaron had got his ready to go to the vet but it just passed at home.  He is able to bury his on his property. Put it in its dog bed with a couple of his chews.

Jack, my tears are pouring down so fast I can hardly see the monitor.  Big hug for you, I know it was so hard to do but know you loved her enough to make it easiest for her.  I am so sorry, know how heavy your heart is and how lonely you will be...... give your son a big hug for me and thank him for helping my friend in need.  I did not expect this today & sure it has been a nightmare for you.  We will all miss her and your walks, she was a grand lady, for sure, and you did the right thing.  Shirley

Jack, I know how sad you are.  I've sent you a message at your e-mail address here.  Big hugs.  Jessie was a beautiful, well behaved, and much loved dog.  She was definitely "Jack's best friend".

Love and hugs,
Sue

Good evening.

I was smiling and enjoying all the photos and comments until I saw your post, JACK.  I am so sorry to read this news.  Bless your heart.  It is never easy to have to put a beloved friend down, but thankfully we have that option.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.  RIP Dear Jessie.  You are once again running with your friend in Heaven.

I did love seeing all the photos everyone shared.  Each one was very special to see.  I would sure be happy if everyone would share their photos of younger years.😍

I am currently in Austin Texas visiting our youngest son and his wife.  We are sure enjoying our visit and having fun with Oliver, their new 12 week old puppy.

Enjoy your evening,

Jenny

Jackl, nothing I can say will make you feel any better.  Jessie was your family, God bless her and welcome her to her eternal home to await your arrival .  Rest easy old friend, she is in good hands.

Beverly

Jack - I am so very sorry! Like Shirley, the tears are coming.....Jessie was part of your family and we have enjoyed all these years you have shared her life with us.  I know from experience how difficult your decision was.  :'(

Jack, I am so sorry you lost Jessie.  I do know the feeling of losing a pet and when our dog died, no one could say a nice word to me about her for a week.  You have my deepest sympathy.

It has been a long, hard day.  Forgive me for not addressing each of your posts, but I have read them all and appreciate your kind words.

Joy

Jack,  I,  too, am so, so sorry to read that you have lost Jessie.   I know that is one of the hardest things you have had to do.  And, I do share in your loss.  My deepest sympathy goes out to you tonight.

I know you will miss your good buddy on your walks.  And.  I am sure a lot of the people you would meet on your trips to Oglebay will certainly miss seeing her.

I am sure this has been a hard day for you.  Thoughts will be with you this evening.   Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Jessie.   We lost our two poodles six months apart a few years ago now.  I have to admit it was hard and took me a while to get over it.  We had them for 13 years.  We will be thinking of you.

Jack, no words to express how much I feel your loss, having gone through this as well.
:'(    Jessie, we'll all miss your lovely smile here and your friendly poses.   :'(

jackwv

Joy, Jean, Jackie and Bubble, thank you for your kind words.  Bubble thanks for the photo with her constant smile.   It was a long night and did not have my usual companion with me for breakfast.

so_P_bubble

Jack, maybe you can use it as a desktop image.  That is what I do/rotate when I get too nostalgic.

jackwv

Bubble I have a corner with large photos and memorabilia and at this point would not want to see her on the desktop.   I did change my avatar to show Jessie and my little Zoe lost several years ago.

Shirley

Ah, Jack, you know how I felt when Zoe died.... she was my soul-mate in spirit.  I loved watching Jessie try to teach her how to be a lady (felt like my sister always trying to teach me to not be such a tomboy).  In my world they are at peace but I know how lonely and sad it leaves you & all of us that loved how you shared them with us.  We will grieve with you, know that we will be in step as you walk the paths of Oglebay again.
God Bless....Shirley

Lost post and lost mind :)  Shirley rain here for two days but I want to go to Oglebay.   I brought Jessie home today and her remains alongside Zoe.   Felt better getting her home.   Now how about some happy talk (Pets would be fine)

JeanneP

Jack. Now do you have a place in your garden to put their ashes.  Some people keep them in the house. Now on my one Parrot that I had for 27 years. they put the ashes in a nice vase and put a glass cover over it and so I have it still in the China cupboard.  I know some people think we a little crazy when it comes to our pets. But they were a big part of our lives.  You will figure out what you want to do . I myself hope you get another dog like the two you had. You can't give up walking around your park. We have to still have pictures of it.  You have to have a pet to walk with you. That is a big part of your life. You will always talk about Zoe and Jessie and we will always enjoy reading.

Jack, I just checked in here to night and like Jenny, I was enjoying all those lovely photos of years gone by.  Then I read Your post, and I felt so bad, I had always enjoyed your walks with Jesse.  We all understand how you are feeling.   Our pets are our children.  It has been many years since we had to put our Great Dane to sleep, I can still see the tears running down my husband's face. Again you know we are all thinking about you.

Gloria and JeanneP did not intend to post this photo, but it addressed the question of the ashes.   I was pleased today when they called and said Jessie's ashes were available and I was able to bring her home.  I do not spread the ashes but keep them in my family room in clear site.  Jessie, always the lady, is in the top photo   Zoe was always running and her photo is on the bottom.  I have copies on the front of each of their chests and paw prints.  My first golden Kibbles died years ago and is buried in my back yard, sorry but knew nothing about cremation at the time.

Shirley

That is such a nice way to save and remember, Jack!  We had always buried our pets but since Dede died the 4th of Feb & the ground was frozen solid, we had no way to bury our 100 pound friend, so we had to let the vet send her body to cremation... and at that time they did not do a "single" animal.

Okay, you wanted to change the subject so I spent hours getting the gallery to accept 4 old photos of me... first 2 with natural black hair & then one with black dye & finally when I gave up dying.  BUT I am not sure which of the 2 links in the Gallery to copy to insert here, does anyone know?  Help?  I don't have photos of myself... so copied the one out of my junior year book as a cheerleader.... the next was my senior photo as senior class queen... the 3rd photo was after years of dying my hair, maybe late '70s & last was 2003 (I think) when I gave up that job & discovered my hair glowed in the dark!

If anyone knows how the Gallery works.... HELP?!   I'll be back in a little while.... I'm on the old Vista computer to get the photos.

JeanneP

Shirley.  Those were great pictures. Now I don't even know how to get my photo's into my Gallery.  I am so dumb with photography. Glad we have a few people in here will help me put photos in here.

Jack - That is a beautiful way to remember "your girls". The photos capture their personalities.

Beverly

Shirley - Copy the first BB code and paste it into the message box on here. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

jackwv

Beverly I have not used the Gallery and gave one of Shirleys  a try, never knew that, I still use Photobucket.

Shirley

Thanks, Beverly..... here is a photo from my Junior yearbook, not very good quality but shows how black the hair used to be... I was in the middle of a pyramid so a little strained face, kneeling on 2 people below & had one straddling my back & the girl next to me.

Shirley

I'm not going to post my Senior picture... same hair... but this next one was taken in the 70s (a group shot) after I'd been dying it for years.  Even though I used Clairol "Velvet Black"... it had a red cast on my crazy hair.

Shirley

I hate photos of myself so this is painful.  :crazy2:  This was a snapshot taken at a craft show or something... in the '70s, a few years after I quit dying my hair, it can't get any whiter!  I thought about going blond but eyebrows still too dark.  So it goes......

Shirley

That works, Beverly!!! Thanks.  I took some photos of trees on the river bank today but they are all just dull brown & the locust trees had a little color but are nearly bare.

Had a pair of robins on the line out back tonight, pretty bright color.  This time of year they come through in groups usually, sometimes with faded colors & others bright.  Have to wonder if they are from Alaska this late in the season.

All 3 of my kids called & talked quite a while tonight so I am late giving the cats their "midnight snack".... so better get with it.  I do have some photos to resize & post tomorrow.
