Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jackie, you are right, I still must take the occasional stroll and did so today.  Fall winding down but some color and the deer were also resting.

JeanneP

That is so cute how the deer line up close.  all that room yet do that. I see that they have one snobby one. Off by itself. Most probably mad about something.

Last Saturday 4 young men came out and worked 2 hours on my front yard. It was knee deep in leaves. They got all from around the bushes. Looked like a golf course . By Tuesday it was all back looking the way it did. Knee deep again and still the trees are full.  Suppose to be Cleanup day in the Area tomorrow. Coffee and Doughnuts for all.  Some of us keep ours pretty good but most don't bother to much. I am not going to rake but I do have a blower and soon my yard man will be out mowing. He waits until the trees are bare. Smart way to do.

When I walked back to the car several deer approached me but I had no treats.    Over the years I have had to remove 2 Pin Oaks, an Elm, Dogwood and Japanese Maple.  Miss them but not the leaves.  What few leaves I get I use the blower on a windy day and send them to my neighbors where the belong. :)

Shirley

Great photos, Jack, and a real treat since we have not had any of those colors.  Love how peaceful the deer look, a calm place to walk or just sit & think.  Thanks!

I did pick up 2 huge bags of leaves this week but most were from my sweet gum tree. It still looks like it isn't missing a single leaf so more to come down.  I think it had too many leaves this year, more than the roots could provide water to.  Some leaves were turning brown, crisp from lack of water, not the pretty yellow like most years.   I was trying to figure how what kind of trees are in that last photo to have such beautiful leaves.

JACK, Thanks for such a lovely autumn scene, love seeing the deer

Shirley and Lin thanks.   Shirley by now you know not to ask me about trees and/or flowers.  If I look them up I still forget.  Here is a photo of the trees taken a week ago.  Looking in during break in Hockey, the one good thing about winter.

FlaJean

Such pretty scenes, Jack.  It is a little overcast here today with a slight chill in the air.  A good day for a bowl of soup.  ;)

JeanneP

I was wanting to use my leaf blower again today and blow the leave over onto the part that belongs to the county.  Just to windy. would blow right back. Wind just took a big tree limb down from one of my trees.  Hope on cleanup day tomorrow someone will move it.
Think will just take a trip over to the library and pick up some DVDs they hve on the shelf for me.  Not much happening this weekend and not going to be nice and so think will just be lazy. Cook, read. eat, watch movies and nap. Next week looks a little warmer and now rain.

46 and light rain here, that soup sounds good, might do the same (from a can of course)

JeanneP

My yard looks just like the ones in yours photo above Jack.  Not a leaf showing.

Got up early and started on the work outdoors. It was all done last Saturday but had even more leaves on it this week.  As it was cleanup day in the area and nice day I thought would be people out. But no. Think I was the only one. There were people who own Condo Building and such all out doing the area. Worked out good for me as about 6 men and some women doing Maintenance. I asked if they would hold off mowing until I raked my leaves over to the front land. They told me to just let them take care of all mine for me as they had big mowers. Power blowers lots of Equipment. Got all my bushes and yard and so all I had to do was sweep porch. Looks so nice.  Will cry tomorrow when I see leaves on again. Trees still full.  Maybe these I will let stay for the winter. Mulch the grass.

For those of you who remember Adrienne in San Francisco and Gene and Nadia from Western Australia, here is a photo from November fifth, 2016 when they visited Adrienne. Shirley Thomas had passed sometime earlier.

I wonder if any of you will have a good view of the "super moon".  I think it will be too cloudy in our area to see it at its fullest, but maybe we can get a view Monday evening.  If you can get a photo, please post it.

SnowWitch

It should be clear here in AZ and I'm going out to try to catch it coming over the mountains....fingers crossed.....trish

RAMMEL

The MOON is up and bright here in the NYC area. For a change the sky is clear for one of these night events.  I will likely be going out front several times during the night to this event.

SnowWitch, your pictures are spectacular.  I went out to see it and it was right overhead and very bright.  My camera would not take a picture of the moon (I've tried other times) so didn't even try.  I am in Michigan.

Trish, great photos.   I was driving back from Pittsburgh on the interstate and spotted it but unable to find a spot to stop. When I reached home it was too bright.  Hope for a chance tonight.

so_P_bubble

I went out to see  that moon, but it was cloudy so it looked hazy and not bright.  Maybe tomorrow?

angelface555

We don't see that super moon here along with many other space phenomenon that you southern folks enjoy. It's the wrong trajectory I suppose and we are four hours behind. But I've enjoyed Trish's photos!

Angelface - Apparently Alaska does have the supermoon but with the cloudy skies overnight and this past week-end, you may not be able to see it. The article says the interior may get a peek at it through the clouds.  Check this out.

This site gives a chart. The full moon in Alaska will be at 4:52 a.m. Not sure I would be getting up on the off chance it would show.  :) (Actually that would have been this morning.)

Thanks, Beverly, since I usually awaken between three and four AM, I'll stop and take a peek.

Anchorage, 400 miles to the south is in the same climatic rainforest region as Oregon and northwestern Washington. Ketchikan, Alaska holds the North American record for the most yearly rainfall. Fairbanks is in the Arctic Circle and in the winter, as it is now, usually has a low lying cloud cover over the city which is why we rarely see comets, stars, etc.

jackwv

Overcast all day so unable to get a photo of the supermoon.   Have to post this clever shot by a young man that timed the decorating of a tree with the moon.  This was taken in Steubenville Ohio, just north of me on the Ohio River.    The park is just off Dean Martin Blvd.  he grew up in Steubenville and left to later gain fame.

Shirley

Nice photos, Trish!  I didn't think the moon was as awesome last night/morning as it was back in March.  I will try again tonight, think it will be clear again.  I don't have that neat stuff to look through like yours.

Took photos of the moon & dumped them on the computer downstairs since I have PSP on it that I know how to use.  I have 2 newer versions of PSP on this one but can't even get the work space to set up. I do not remember anything about how I did the old one.  I think I made it through the first two "steps"... but don't remember a thing from them.

I couldn't get the photos loaded into the Gallery (here) last night so they are still on the computer downstairs.  I didn't think the moon was as outstanding last night as the one in March of this year.  I will try again tonight.  I did find my password for Photo Bucket but I couldn't get the photos to go in there, either.  Think the problem is in my head.

Jack, that was a neat idea.... good job.  I'm impressed how good the Christmas lights show with the bright moon shining through.

Shirley

Got a better shot of the moon tonight.... and discovered my good tripod has a broken leg.  :'(    The clamps that hold the extended legs in place... one doesn't clamp & that section fell off.  I have one from Germany that we bought when we lived in England ('54-'57), not at all sturdy but compact.  Have another light weight one from Radio Shack but doesn't have all the adjustments my broken one has.  Ah, well.

Took this with the Panasonic Lumix FZ70 using full 64x zoom.

SnowWitch

Thanks everyone. I was out tonight after the moon came up over the mountains and it was very, very orange.....I did get some photos. I hope I can get one posted tomorrow....trish

SHIRLEY....
...wow, what a fantastic close up shot.....no sign of any Super Moon where we are, at 4.30am in UK.......not sure I'll be around for the next one.....

Edited:....an hour later, doh, been looking in the wrong direction, usually our moon is to our back overlooking the hills, well not this morning...I checked the front and there it was peeping out from the thick clouds....Shirley as soon as I get it from my camera I shall post...but dont expect it to be anywhere as clear as yours...

Edited: I was lucky to have gotten this as there was a breaking in the cloud....

SnowWitch...
....your golden tint makes your Super Moon more special....

...Jack wv.....
.... perfect timing and positioning to capture the sun at the top of that Christmas tree......

Shirley and Jackie, two good shots.   Shirley up close and Jackie with the passing clouds (fortunate they cleared a bit for the photo.

Good moon shots.  Wow, Shirley, what a great closeup.  Jack, what a neat idea that young man had.  I wasn't impressed with our view of the moon so didn't bother with a photo.
