MaryAnn and JeanneP  I just took a look at the beach and water temp is 34, so you will not freeze if you want to take a dip. :)

Mary Ann

Jeanne, we are not getting the storms but it has rained nearly all day.  From radar, it looks as if the storms will go south of us.

I see they have taken down the snow fences again.  I don't think any snow in the future will be so great that they would be needed.  As for the beaches, they have to be repaired from what winter snows and ice do.

Jack, you first.  The water has been at 34 degrees for some time, but I wouldn't want to swim in it.  I have been swimming in Lake Michigan, but many years ago.

Mary Ann

and here this week end will be scorching: 34C!

jackwv

was in low 40s this morning, 68 now and Friday and Sat possibly snow and lows in 20s.    Went to the park, the tulips holding up, many still not open.   MaryAnn, call me when the water temp is 78 and I might be interested. :)

;D  I agree with you Jack.

Mary I recall when my son would complain his above ground pool was too hot but I found it just right.  Had to look and this is what one site said.

If you’re looking for a perfect pool temperature, not too hot, not too cold, 77 â€" 82 degrees (25 â€" 28°C) is the way to go. Goldilocks had it right.

Am sure there are other opinions but I will accept this one.

JeanneP

No matter what the Temps are in the Sea or Lakes. Always to cold for me.  Even in Florida.  I just rather sit on the beach.

Jack.  You look like a teen in your picture.  Was that AirForce of Army? What year?  The service men really look young now. Since the big Base closed down here  I never see any in Uniforms

JeanneP   I was drafted in 1952 during Korea mess.  Was 22 and  one of the older ones, by a few years. I was a year behind Norm.   Had that photo taken while at Ft Bliss, El Paso Texas.  Only served 2 years.

Mary Ann you posted while I was typing.  I avoided the sun, never sun bathed and when we went to the ocean I always wore a t shirt and sat under a beach umbrella.  Spent very little time in the water, just enjoyed the sights and sounds.  Even with my working indoors and avoiding the sun, I seldom wore sun screen and that is why I am sitting here with two more spots on my face that were frozen to remove.  Am a regular at the Dermatologist.

Mary Ann

Jack, I don't know, but I doubt Lake Michigan ever reaches 78 degrees, probably more like 72 degrees.  It's been so long since I was in the lake and when you're a kid, it doesn't seem as cold as when you're an adult.  We used to take a picnic lunch, could park along the beach, I am sure we didn't have an umbrella and the big thrill was walking on the pier and the catwalk.  I wouldn't attempt the pier now - too long and the catwalk is closed to people.

Jack, Norm started out at Fort Riley, Kansas, then went to Fort Bliss, Texas, before he went to Germany in 1951 and was there until discharged in 1953.

Lots of US service men in UK in the Early 50s.  All gone by 60s.

Anyone watching the Eagles in Washington. I was just in. Dark there but light on them. Must be warmer there because she is not covering the babies. they are really growing fast

Kelly, I think many of us have MS Word. I don't use it much because Word Pad is faster to open, does a very sufficient job for my needs. If a person is fully familiar with MS Word's iit might be the better choice (That's why it's there - it can do much more).

It is good to be back.

On the occasion of national pet day, I want to show my son's dog Zoe.  She is a pit bull and is the most loving and affectionate dog that I have ever seen- a 54 pound lap dog.   She is a rescue dog.

Sandy thanks, we moved here in 1964 and still my home.

We made a few changes to raise our two, here is a present photo.   I am now here with just Jessie my 15 year old Golden.   I spend most of my time with her and the computer in the family room addition.   My daughter wants me to move with her but so long as I have my health I want my independence.  Have the same Church, good neighbors, and a handful of doctors.

That's a great home.  And I'm with you.  I'm not moving anyplace.  I sold my big house, bought a nice 3 bedroom, 3 full baths place and someone else does all the yard work.  Kids live out of state but in COLD weather states.  I'm staying put in Southern California.  It's sunny & warm most of the time..  LOL

Good looking dog.  I'm happy to see the ears haven't been docked.

Lynn it is good to see you in here.  Great looking pup.

Tuckyquilter thanks, sorry I must have removed the link on my home as it is at present.  Like the sound of Sunny in Warm in your area.  We have been having cold, frost and a bit of snow and a permanent spring would be welcome.

Here is one photo from Oglebay, taken today.   Many of the tulips still not open.   I also posted a slide show in the Photo Slide Show Discussion.

JeanneP

I don't see any tulips up around here yet.  Poor Daffodils, did not last long at all..
We also are going to be getting it warm this coming weekend. 74 deg. they say. This will bring some plants and the trees blooming out.  My trees have lost so many limbs that they will not be giving much shade this summer.

My birthday today and so was taken out for a good steak tonight. Do not eat much beef but when I do it really taste good.  Boy! these birthday come fast now.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

Happy Birthday, Jeanne, you're right, birthdays do come too soon these days.  I'll bet that steak did taste good.

Another cold morning and frost, so did a little bit of ridding up.   Since I seldom read books & hate losing things. I  keep my work area uncluttered I simply have to do a bit of dusting (usually when company is coming)  Have been downsizing for the past 18 years. Here is my computer area, in the rear of my family room, the front  has a day bed, two recliners and t v so seldom use my 2nd floor.

How neat and tidy! I wish mine was that well kept.

Joy

Oh Jack !!!  What a neat room.   I wish I was not a collector of "stuff".  I need to start going through things to give me a little bit more space.  Moving from a big house, to a 2 bedroom condo, and then to this 3 room apartment, I had to get rid of a lot of stuff. However, over time,  new "stuff" has continued to grow. I still have 2 complete sets of good antique dishes in my son's basement.  My DIL keeps saying we should take them to a dealer and sell them.  I still have so many craft supplies, patterns, directions that I KNOW I will never use again, but just keep thinking "well, I might make that again", when I know I won't.  LOL

Good for you for keeping a nice neat place.  Most "guys" don't do that.   :)
