Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Jack, glad you mentioned the baby shampoo, I put it on my list so next time I hope I don't forget. Several mentioned their eye doctors told them to use... I'd never heard of using it before.  Eyes are a tad better today, think the freezing temps may have pushed out some of the pollen.  My Cleveland pear trees look like the blossoms are gone, for sure.  Don't think it is just time for them to fall off, we had a hard freeze 2 nights & one day.  Not sure how much fruit is still around here..... developers bought up all the peach & apple orchards & put in houses.

My few hours of sleep last night has me yawning my head off.  Waiting on my sons to check in on me & have 2 cats still out.  All think 10:00 pm is the magic time.

Beautiful shot of Oglebay in the snow, Jack..... still haven't looked for Eileen's address or sent her e-mail.  Hope tomorrow I get more accomplished.  Sweet dreams to all!

JACK ...
...picture card perfect, can just see it decked out in Christmas lights and decorations, would make the perfect Christmas card..just add a Robin in the background to set it all off... :)

JeanneP

Shirley.  Have you checked to see that your eye problem is not caused my your cats.

I can never get close to one or even go inside a house that has a cat in.  You seem to have quite a few and they sleep close to you.  I just bought the baby shampoo and have use it twice. First did not use water with it but seemed to burn my eyes a little and so now I get the cotton square a little wet.  Last night just used it in the shower.  I have dry eye bad and use eye drops also.

That is very bright and fiery, think I would have had to wear sunglasses to look at that spectacular looking sunset...

Sandy

Here is a picture of me and my grand daughter Madison  (Fe's Mom)  ...  about 20 years ago!

A lot of dark hair going on there!!!

Sandy mother and daughter look a lot alike! Same nose cheeks, and eyebrows. That's a nice photo of you!

Sandy

Yes,  Fe does look like her Mother Madison...
and Madison thinks that Fe looks like me...

Madison was very young in this picture..  I think that she was about 9 months  then...   I was so tickled with my very first Grand Child...

Gorgeous sunset, Don..... so do you spend the winter in AZ or just a vacation?  I hear the flowers are outstanding in the desert this year... I'd love to make the drive.

Sandy, what a great photo!  She sure does look like you & Fe looks like both of you.  Love the set of the eyebrows.

FlaJean

What a nice photo, Sandy.  The years are moving on----too fast, I think.

Lindancer

Sandy, what a lovely photo.

Don, I cannot add any words, that would describe your sunset

For many years I passed this  old tree, sat in the shade and marveled at its beauty.

Yesterday I found it was being cut down, apparently had died.   Like losing an old friend.

angelface555

Jack that is sad. Trees mean so much to us, more than just some shade or pretty colors. Often, if I have a headache, I will go out walking among the trees by the water and after a few moments, all that tension just disappears. When we had the pine beetle scrouge in 2004, they cut so many trees down and you could see all if the inside holes and thousands of beetles scurrying about. It was heartbreaking and precipitated the drought we have now.

Vanilla-Jackie

JACK WV...
...oh that is so sad, I love seeing trees...I am very much a tree lover...just hate to see a tree being chopped down...more so, one that has stood for so long...

Jackie, I've been meaning to ask if you knew what had happened to the dog you were considering? Was his name Harry? Also if you were still thinking about another dog?

To get back to the subject, I love living in an arboreal forest of 60 to 200 feet tall spruce. I have no idea how old they are but I feel connected to them and with the paper birch trees here also in my neighborhood.

Shirley

Many years ago my parents had to cut down a huge tree that died & left the trunks with big holes like that.  I begged someone to cut "slices" of the trunk & cut canvas board the shape of the openings.  I painted some dogwood blossoms on one that turned out nice (dogwood is MO state tree).  I gave it to a niece that treasured it because she remembered playing under the tree at "Grammy & Grandad's house".  Trees grew fast in their fertile
soil but I was always sad when one I grew up with died.  I think I still have one slice waiting to be used, they made a neat "frame".  Lots of slices in that big tree!

Jack, I remember one you took photos all day as the crew cut down a tree.  Was amazing when put together.

Got hot here today, people in shorts & no jackets.  Supposed to get near 90 on Sunday.... what a change!

ANGELFACE...
...we have never received any feedback on little Harry, I do often think about him...I am only at my best when surrounded by dogs but, under our-my circumstance's, I have to think twice...dogs need a stable and happy environment within the home... and not forgetting plenty of daily exercise, the one thing I personally cant give them..but what I can give them is plenty of love, hugs and kisses, oh I have plenty of that going spare...

angelface555

Jackie, now you know I'm being facetious, but a pug is just as happy to sit on the couch with you as go out for a walk. In fact, they are known for that and you have to pay attention and make sure they aren't just being a couch potato!

In all seriousness, though, I sincerely hope that someday you will be surrounded again!

Vanilla-Jackie

Ha ha, I wouldn't want two couch potatoes inside my home...

Good Afternoon Cloudy right now, possible snow later.

Jack, so sad to see a tree cut down. I Am trying to remember a poem I read in Brookgreen gardens, in SC.

I Think that I will never see, A poem as Lovely as a Tree
Poems, were made by fools like me, but only God can make a
             Tree.

Jack, Linedancer's post reminded me of your video of that poem about trees.  Be nice if you would repost it in the video forum.

jackwv

Gloria, that is sung on a slideshow I did of trees at Oglebay and thanks to Jean for the suggestion.   I still have it on vimeo and posted the link in the slideshow discussion.

Lindancer

Jack, I read that poem over 70 years ago.  i cannot remember yesterday at 93. Here is another one:  I remember

I use to love my garden
But now my love is dead
      I found, a batchelor button
      In Blackeyed Susan's bed
I also read that in Brookgreen gardens.

Gloria, that poet had a dry wit!

Gloria I liked that poem.   Know I have missed something by never getting to Brookgreen Gardens.

Mary Ann

Gloria, that sounds like Ogden Nash's humor, but I doubt he wrote it.
