Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Radioman34

Greetings from London Ontario, although my heart is still in Israel. Jet lag is almost gone and I'll be doing my radio show today. I posted below something that Bubble shared with me that I want to share with you.

Oh, the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person -- having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.
-Dinah Maria Mulock Craik, poet and novelist (26 Apr 1826-1887)

Shirley, these umbrellas are not permanent.  They belong to a man whose living is renting them to visitors on the beach, together with sunning beds and plastic chairs (the orange piles you can see).
He also plants in the sand garbage bins lined with big green plastic bags.

Bubble, I wish we had some of that sun right now! Again, it was so nice to see you and that lovely beach! Sunning beds? Is that like we have here in tanning salons?

Plastic lounge beds with the head that can be raised.  People usually put their towel on it before resting there.  Because it is all plastic, it does not matter if they get sandy, it is easy to hose them down.

angelface555

Thank you, Bubble for explaining.  :)

Shirley

I went back to see the orange things.... I was so busy admiring the umbrellas I didn't notice them.  Every time I scroll through the photos I want to remember to ask you if your daughter is a musician??  She has such pretty hands & her fingers look like they know how to play an instrument, maybe lots of practice on the piano or something....

Rain all day, heavy at times.  Late walk to the park for this view.  Now tonight(know it's May) but Hockey

Jack WV...I would be happy walking there amongst the green, come rain or shine....Talking of rain, we had a pelter come down mid day yesterday, brought both hailstones and thunder, then it stopped and the sun came out, I was looking for that rainbow out the back but never saw it...( you know the one, from Rainbowsbridge.. )

Jack, I miss seeing so much green around.  Canada was that green.  Here it is very different.

Shirley, my daughter is not musician but she uses her hands a lot: she is a physical therapist and specializes in medical massages.

Jackie and Bubble.   Still a bit of color at the park, and waiting for their next plantings, but quite happy just with the lush green.

angelface555

Jack, that is a beautiful, lush green, & lovely! The Southern part of Alaska is like that due to the rainforest climate, very Scandinavian in appearance. We are part of a large forested area and have been in a serious drought since 2003 so we don't have any of that.

Patricia we are fortunate with usually moderate weather.   I went back to your prior post (quote)  Doubt you have any outdoor sunning beds.  For my part I never used or tried for a tan.

angelface555

Actually, Jack, I assumed she was speaking only of a bed to lay on in the sun, set off the sand. I could be wrong as know ours are all indoors and highly carcinogenic.

My two sisters laid out for hours in the sun using various concoctions to achieve that perfect tan. Even though I didn't feel that way at the time, I was lucky in that I had the redhead's super white complexion and was light sensitive. Bright sunlight gave me migraines and my skin easily burned with the redness peeling to show the white again underneath. I stayed out of the sun between ten and two and wore hats before it was fashionable. I simply did not tan.

Now my two sisters have all the issues from sun damage while I have the same skin as I did back then.

Cool and lots of wind.  Tulips finished, they have dug up the bulbs.  Daffodils done.   They will be planting soon and put the baskets up, but waiting till end of the month for the baskets.   Not many flowers but here is a photo of Mimi in front of Allium plants and a prior photo of just the Allium.  Pretty but do not last long.

Shirley

Jack, Mimi has the sweetest expression on her face... in every photo, like she still can't believe how lucky she is to find you.  She is beautiful but it is that look that makes me want to hug her.

Did I miss photos of the tulips?  No unusual ones this year?  I have missed days being gone but thought I always caught up when I got home.  My iris are blooming more than most years but my computers are giving me fits not allowing Paint Shop Pro to open on the one & I still don't have the newer version on this Win 10 computer up & running.  Fact is, I have no clue how to set it up & no manual to go by.  I need pictures or somebody to "show me", the online manual doesn't work for me.  The Allium plants look darker than other years, you think? Beautiful photos, nice & sharp, what camera did you use?

Sandy, she is soooo cute!  A little doll!

Dot's most recent great-grandson was a year old about a week ago.  She sends me videos that her grandson sends her and he is a cutie, too.

I hope your arm is not giving you too much trouble.

Jack, a nice photo of Mimi. She always looks so calm and relaxed in her photos!

Sandy, Fe looks more like a little girl now, its hard to believe its been a year already!

angelface555

I doubt if I could top Mimi or Fe's photos but I have a few to share. Monday we had all electricity turned off in our building and some nearby buildings due to some city electrical work, replacing light poles, wiring, and some buried lines.

They are working lengthwise, three blocks at a time and while they are just getting to our area, this is the fourth or fifth year of the project. Of course, we had emergency power routed to another line for those bedridden with oxygen or other medical issues requiring electricity. We were blocked off, but I managed to get a few of them breaking up the pavement and reinstalling wires on the new poles.

There are no real windows in the next building because that is part of the courthouse complex.

The silver building on the left was immortalized in a book by Edna Ferber, entitled the "Ice Palace" and was made into a blockbuster movie in 1931. Ferber also wrote the book, "Giant" which was also turned into a blockbuster movie.
