Jackwv...
...they certainly do look after their park....so pretty to walk and see so many colourful flower arrangement's, would brighten up anyones dull day...

Shirley...
...at last I have gotten to see your camper van...a great way from getting from a to b and seeing the great sights...Were these taken on your recent trips? I know you have done a whole lot of travelling...
...oh, think I have answered my own question, the " moon over the mountain..." photo, I can see the date in the bottom right hand corner...that is a beautiful and large moon...a sight worth watching..

jackwv

Shirley, great photos and ready for more.  That "Moon over the Mountain" is special.

halkel

Shirley, second Jacks comment.

FlaJean

Wonderful photos Jack and Shirley.
Jack I especially like the dark red and yellow flowers.  The flower stands are a good idea.  What a beautiful place.
Shirley, that moon shot was great.  Do you do any painting or sketching during your week in the mountains?

Shirley

Thanks for the comments about the photos.... really do have better in the camera.  The water fascinated me, never saw it so wild & so full in all the years we've gone to CO.  I'll get more posted later, am having trouble doing catch up with pool, laundry & yard.  When I sit down I fall asleep.

Jean, I did take some watercolors this time, thinking I'd find time when the boys were fishing to do some small ones.  Didn't happen, I started one but couldn't get in the mood.  I prefer oils but tried that once & realized the paint fumes are too strong to bring home.  If neither of my sons go with me in Sept I may take paints to work with during the day.  Usually the cats want to sleep all day so might work, & should have room in the outside storage since I won't be taking all the extras.  I hauled that canopy in the storage, was nice, has lights that can but turned up bright enough to play cards or eat.  Other son had a screened room over the table in his site... we were well set up.  My awning has the party lights & when out, could go from inside to under canopy without getting wet.... ONLY, it never rained the whole time.  That's a first, usually rains a little about every day.

Bedtime in Kansas!

Did not take the camera this trip, went up late to  the park.  Got this scene as I stepped out of the suv.  Not bad for an iPhone.

Mary Ann

Jack, while I don't have the pretty scenery in front of me, our clouds of late have been much like those in the picture.  And it's been such a nice, comfortable day.  I just looked at radar and we should have one more nice day before rain.

Mary Ann

Shirley

Beautiful shot, Jack..... and those clouds have such good detail, for sure a "smart phone".  #2 son uses iPhone & wishes I'd get one.

Mary Ann, I'd love to have your rain, seems to skip right past us.  My well/sprinkler system is dumping sand so a big problem that would not be... if it would rain!

Jack, I enjoy so much all the photos of your park.  What a wonderful place. Do take more! :)

There is a family of crows in the trees nearby.  One is very inquisitive and I like answering his call. Here he is on the street lamp in front of the house, looking around to see if his calls have been heard...

Yesterday afternoon, we went my daughter and I to the main square, hoping for a cooler breeze.  Aviv as usual was on his bike.
On the square there is a huge metal sphere surrounded by water fountains whose hight and frequency change randomly.  The kids love it, splashing, running, spaying each other.  They thoroughly enjoy it and Aviv of course abandoned shirt, pants and sandals in a hurry.

After all that exercise the child was tired, so what is more natural
than taking a small nap on the spot?

Bubble,   Looks  like such a refreshing place to cool off.   Aviv sure looks like he was having a fun time.  So nice that it is close enough for you to get to.

Sounds like you have become good friends with the crow.   That is so neat that he answers you.

Bubble like the shots of your friend the crow.  Long for the days when I would have joined Aviv and the others in the cool water.  Now I would avoid it, but enjoy watching the children.

Shirley

Love your photos, Bubble....  and we could shake your grand & my gr-grand up & find it hard to tell them apart!  They look & act so much alike.  Did we EVER have that much energy?   I never saw a crow with white on it.... have seen the magpies in Colorado that are same family as crows.  Would love to have them here.  One time a pair showed up at our back door, knew they had been hand raised because when I opened the door they hopped right in and when I offered food, they squatted down & opened their mouth waiting to be fed.  Got some good video of them but alas, was near 4th of July and someone shot off fireworks across the river & they flew off.  I was so disappointed... :tissue:   I do think crows & magpies are very smart birds.

One time we were in a state park in southern CO and had trees full of magpies, carried on conversations with each other and seemed to play games. Any restrictions about feeding your friend?  I think it would be fun to have around....  My father had one when young, lived outside but managed to steal his gr-mother's things when left laying around, until the boys found it's hiding place on the roof.  Their gr-mother lived with them & blamed the boys for missing thimbles & such.... until.........  ;)   Have not seen a magpie when camping for years, but did see one crow this year.  Not sure what happened to them.

Mary Ann

Bubble, your crow is different than those around here, but I'll bet they are just as noisy.  One called to me this morning when Tom and I left for breakfast.  Our crows are all black.  Young boys can find fun almost anywhere and I'm sure Aviv enjoyed the water - and nap afterward.

I might enjoy getting my feet wet, but I'm no swimmer and would probably stay out of the water.

Mary Ann

so_P_bubble

Mary Ann, no need for swimming: the water does not pool, just spray and disappears.  That is why even toddlers enjoy it with no restriction.  The parents sit around and just talk among themselves, free for a time.

I don't plan on feeding that bird: they are too many around, I'd risk being invaded.  I heard they can become quite fierce if you stop.

FlaJean

Beautiful landscape, Jack.  The iPhone takes good pictures.  I didn't realize until recently that you can zoom with the iPhone.  You just pinch out and it zooms. Or pinch in to change the zoom----amazing.

Bubble, We had lots of HUGE crows in Ocala.  Haven't seen one since we moved here, but I'm sure there are some around.  Saw a TV special on crows----very intelligent.  The North American crow is all black, according to my Sibley bird app.  Splash pond such a good idea for the youngsters.  They were really enjoying it.

Lindancer

Jack enjoyed your scene , that is such a sharp picture.

Bubble, your photo makes me want to be young again and play in that beautiful spot.  Aviv is sure growing fast.

Great shot Jack. More people seem to be using the IPhones now . Get good pictures.
Bubble. I have never seen a Crow Black and white.  I don't like them. about one week a year we have them around my house by the hundreds. Such a noice and dirty.

Now I think had their been one of those water things around her for the last 2 weeks while it was in the 90s I would have been pushing the children out out of the way. May even have taken my clothes off. Lots of the parks are now putting them in for the young one and not having the fountains . They were to deep and then kids started to go into them. Never saw them do that years ago. Parent don't seem to watch now.  We have had 4 children drown in the past 3 hot weeks. One in the lake and 3 in Home pools. All under 4 years old.

SCFSue

Bubble, crows here in Alabama and surrounding southern states are all black.  Your crow is very handsome with his/her mixture of feathers.

Bubble...
...while I look at your photo by the central fountain with daughter at your side...I cant help but think someone is missing, someone else was meant to be by your side....well maybe some time in the near future that person will be...Don, are you looking at this photo?.... ;)

so_P_bubble

Is this what you meant, Vanilla?

jackwv

Bubble, great work, Don belongs there, well someday!

Vanilla-Jackie
