Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

63 and 65 are super!  Great work Angel.

There are too many tools available to have them all showing up.  That is why you can choose those you like best  to add on your own customized toolbar.

One tool I never managed to use (how?) is the crop tool.  So I just go to image a click on crop to selection.  It works too.

I used to have that older Chinese man, (lower right); once upon a time! Now I only have a few Oriental tubes! I like both Eastern Influence and really like Delicatessen!

My main issue with the classes is that they use ''posers'' for their images, and you need to provide your own. That would be okay except I never seem to have a good corresponding image to go with the lesson!

The newer lessons are relying on the pen, pick and other similar tools and those are the ones I'm most unfamiliar with! And after Friday, they will be closed until Midnight central time, August 15th! I will have two to five of the level remaining!  :-\

so_P_bubble

That will give you time to practice with those unfamiliar tools :)

Yes finding  relevant or suitable tubes is always a challenge.  Mine is usually finding a person in a particular pose or color  but with her feet too! lol   or they are misted when I want them clean-cut.

  :'(  Here we go again!!

I did this great tut from Bubble called Simply Classic Frame. I was fine until it came to directions for a drop shadow from Eye Candy3 which I thought I had. You guessed it! I have something different that is called 2.1 and the directions for drop shadow use were very different.

"Well, okay," I thought, "I have others, 4 through 7." But all of those were for perspective and I didn't know how to differentiate. So I used the default PSP drop shadow for a meager result, but it is what it is.

Then I came to "Ensure "Resize all layers" is UNCHECKED Resample using WEIGHTED AVERAGE." I resized my way and saved to my folder, my way.

Here is their version, slightly different..... :-\

Yep, back to the drawing board aka PSP!

Gloria

Ladies you have been busy here. This is the first time I have checked here since I got back on Friday. Hope my computer troubles are over now. This is the third time in 4months I have had to reinstall everything. This time is taking me longer because I am so tired of it. Still have not installed PSP. Couldn't sleep so got up to install the disk but looking in here instead.

BUBBLE  your Silver Mirror bevel looks like a painting. Oh my that food looks yummy. Wish I could have tasted it.

PATRICIA  so good to see you back to PSP again. Like you I have trouble with those sliders in some filters. I never seem to be able to get it on the right one. Yikes you just made me happy I am not doing lessons. I always had a problem using the pen tool and I would not want to try again.

You are right, the last time I talked to HP I told them if I still have problems with this thing not running I wanted it replaced.  They sent me 4 disks to return the PC back to factory settings and a tech who came Thursday. He unplugged every thing and only used 1 disk. I had been getting that blue screen after the tower came back.  Would reboot so fast I never got a chance to read it till it popped up again when I went to shut down and it said the operating system was corrupted.  I called the next morning. The stupid tech they sent installed some programs he likes without asking me. He plugged things back in but left the tower on the floor. He left me his mane an phone number. I called Friday morning. He said he
would try to get here Saturday. I told him no way he had to get here Friday. Well he did, he lives on Cape Cod, Ma. A good 2 hour drive from here. He called to say he was leaving. Of course it was rush hour. One bridge from the Cape to the mainland and it is always a nightmare  even in the middle of the day. A terrible traffic circle there. Being a Friday at that time there would be the regular commuters and those going to the Cape for the week end. Been there so know what it is like. I did not feel sorry for him either.  2 days later the screen went black. Called again and they had me rebooting and pressing different F keys and back to the original setting again. I already had installed me email and other things. I had my gmail but had a time getting windows live mail in so sent an email to my grandson. Great kid. (now 33 and a dad) He came Monday night and got it in.  Slowly getting everything back. Had to check in here though.

PATRICIA  when the tower came back it was not working right, Grandson was here to set it up, heck I cannot even take it out of the box.  He opened the tower and one of the fittings inside was loose. I can say that HP is trying to get things right. The last Dell I bought was a lemon. I kept calling them and all the would do was access the PC and then tell me every thing was working good.  Like your train. You are doing great again.

BUBBLE  we sure see things different. With that background  I would have made her smaller and put her on that path.
Wow took me almost 2 hours to catch up in here. Hope I can get back to PSP  soon before I forget everything. Back to frames and my landscapes. Just plain jane for me. Nothing intricate like you are all doing.

That is the hardest part of psp for me......finding the right tube or image to use that fits the graphic.  Often I will just end up saying "Oh, well" and settling for whatever.  Sometimes if the background effect and colors are really interesting I would like to leave the image out.  The graphic then becomes like an abstract and I like that.  No jarring image to detract.

Good to have you back, Gloria.  I hope you never have computer problems again.

Bubble, I really like Remember 2.  I'm always surprised and amazed at what the Flood Effect will do.  And I have always been partial to word art.  Very nice colors, too.

Angel, BJ approved my last two lessons in Level 2 and sent the link to Level 3 tutorials.  I'll have lots of time to play around with them during the break.  Not fond of pen or pick  tools but these tuts will give me a chance to use them more.  I am very clumsy with the pen tool but need to practice so I'm looking forward to doing that.  I don't like posers....they give me the creeps with that "dead eyed" stare.  I don't have any saved and I don't use them.  My mod has never commented about them missing and I don't think she cares what image I use as long as I do all of the effects that are required.  One more thing....when we have to find a substitute for an effect or filter that won't work I think that the result is often better than the original.

PHYLLIS  like you it takes me longer to find the right image than it does to do the tut.  I also feel like some of what I have been seeing is that the person tube was added as an after thought and it looks like it is just stuck there, never seems to fit into the background.  Maybe that is why I like old tuts better.

OK I have 12U installed. I have 2 different copies of the 10 dlls. I cannot get any installed in the windows system wow folder. They will not copy there or move there. Cannot find my font viewer either. I dislike having to install the different fonts I like to use at times. Any one have any ideas or help for me? I never had trouble getting those 10 dlls in before and I have been trying for the last 2 hours. Without them I cannot install my plugins. PSP without plugins is never going to work. This has been one miserable week for me. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I hate asking for help. Always been able to figure things out.
Twice before in this PC I had no trouble.

Gloria, what is a wow folder?  I install the dlls in C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X5\Plugins.  In your case you would put them in the X2\plugins folder.

I lost Font Viewer when my old Dell crashed so I downloaded DaFont (http://www.dafont.com/) from the internet and use that.  I don't mind installing fonts because I can always go back and delete any that I don't want or don't use but, also, I don't download a large number of fonts when I'm pretty sure I won't use them.  So far I haven't noticed that my computer has slowed down too much. Font Viewer was nice because you could use fonts without installing them but I'm not sure it is available any more.

Phyllis, BJ has approved 60 and 61. I have sent in through 65. So I will have plenty of time to play with other tuts if they are not approved by this evening. It is now 1:38pm and sometimes she posts after I've gone to bed. I'm not sure if any will be approved tomorrow or if the whole day is the beginning of summer break? I had hoped to be on the next level, or finished with this one and approved but that wasn't to be.

I found these to be interesting;

Font Viewer

http://fontviewer.net/

I have a large folder of fonts but very few installed. I put them in the PSP program and use them like a mask layer rather than installing all of them.

Bubble, Remember2 was very well done, lots of work with that one, but I find myself going back to Futuro, it is truly amazing and the figures are perfect for it!

Gloria, I posted the dills in both my Corel programs file as well as in Windows, System 32 folder and that seems to work.

Edit:

I keep three versions of everything I've downloaded, the zip or installation mode, not the actual program! As well as the serial numbers or codes on a notebook file that are placed in three separate, off computer places. This has proved invaluable in redoing my computers without stress. Microsoft's One Drive only works on your current machine for storage and is vulnerable to any attacks so don't use that if you really want to save anything. I found that out to my cost!

One is my external drive of three Terabytes that is a direct copy of everything on my computer and is kept unplugged and separate from my computer. The other is a Cloud file and then on my dropbox app. Both of the last two are also not on my computer but are on the servers bandwidth and I pay a monthly fee for both.

This way after any repair is done or if my computer is hit by a virus after repairs are done, I am able to redownload everything and have all the serial numbers. I also have a list of copies of any orders placed or received from emails which proved invaluable when Corel dropped all but the 2016 list of program registrations from their site in customer accounts.

Yes, I am obsessed but disastrous, to me, computer failures and losses have made me so!  :'(

Marilyn

It took me awhile to catch up here, I like all the graphics and don;'t have anything else to add at this tim. Angel you are doing great on the  lessons. Bubble I always love your graphics.

Gloria

PHYLLIS  the instructions on the 10dlls is to put them into the c drive in Windows systemWOW and that is where I put them before but this time they will not go in. Wonder if they got corrupted with the OS but I had them saved on the external. I have windows 7 and 12U.

PATRICA  thanks for the link to fontviewer but it does not want to download. I click and nothing happens. I have a large collection of fonts and sure do not want to install them. Is your PC a 32 or a 64? Mine is 64.

I really am getting discouraged. Just hope the thumb nails show. I cannot find the link I had to the program that lets them show.

This is the instructions I have with those dlls.

For Windows 7 64-bit, unzip and put the dlls into your C: Windows/SySWow64.  Again, you are putting all 10 in there.
Maybe I need new copies of those dlls.  Anyone have good ones and would send me a copy? I really hate asking.

I redid the frame tutorial following directions very carefully. I didn't use the shadow effect because the 3.0 eye candy filter I have says my serial number is no longer valid and my other eye candies are too advanced for me to use in just that way. Anyway, here is the second attempt without the shadow effect. I also found the weighted averages which is one of the choices in the Image resize/resample using box.

Here is their version. So mine is still different but I'll take it! :)

angelface555

Gloria, I downloaded and have the font viewer today on my 64 system. I did see an instruction on the web on how to use that wow folder and I'll look it up and post it here. Send me your email and I will send you the zipped file on the font viewer.

NOTE: You may need to be signed in on your computers Administrator account.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR 32 BIT:
For Windows 7 32-bit, unzip and put the dlls into your C:/Windows/System folder and also your C:/Windows/System32 folder. All 10 DLL's.

Again, you are putting all 10 in both places.

In other news, I must apologise about BJ. She approved everything up to Lesson 65 although she approved 61,62 twice so now I feel ashamed of myself. I am only ten away from finishing this level.

Bubble, they both are amazing but I really like Romantica, but that's simply personal preference. I like the center portion and the repeats of either a mask or selections in Zara22.

Lesson 67 requires the Filter, Tramages, Mo'jellyfish. My Tramages filter doesn't have that effect. I saw it carried in several online 2015-2016 tutorials so I downloaded the filter from six separate sites, unzipped them separately and they were all alike in that they did not have that particular effect. Does anyone have that effect within their Tramages filter?

Never mind, a friend from the class, just sent the right one to me! Phyllis if you need it, I now have it and could send it to you. My Tramages works best in FFU.

angelface555

This L66 is an example of merging two or more scenes using arithmetic,

L67 is a lesson blending mask, filters, and different effects. They supplied all the tubes.

L68 will wait until tomorrow as it was driving me nuts going back and forth repetitively.

PATRICIA thank you. The dlls wet in just like the should. I installed all my plugins but now find many do not work. None of the eyecandys and alien skins work and many others pop up a message to install new versions. The Filters Unlimited installed and every thing in there works.  I have not checked Yahoo yet but did get the font viewer link. Thank you. I had saved the plugin sites I had on the external. Hope they still work so I can download new ones.

MARILYN  thank you, got your email, too.

PATRICIA  just checked and my copy of Tramages has the Mo'jellyfish. I will look in my files for it and send it to you. Mine is in FU too. You did a lot with arithmetic at one time.

Great work again ladies. Hope I can get back to PSP soon.
