MaryAnn, Joan had a bout with the stomach flu and wasn't able to go last week.  She is going tomorrow...God willing!

Good Night Everyfriend!  I have some things on the agenda for tomorrow and I have to get some sleep tonight.  May God bless us, every one!

JaneS you seam to have taken over as spokesman for us on S & F where Bis used to be. and that is ok with me. you are a real friend.Nancy and I went over to grand children's  last evening and went with them to the Holden city Lake fishing, cought some but none were keepers.my breathing machine causes me to have a very dry mouth, so i checked in while up and marked a spot for later I am going back to bed and see if i can catch some more of your ZZZZ'S . I have the fuel tank in my new used pickup truck ready to fill with fuel and take to bulldozer. C U Later.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Guess what?  It's raining again this morning and it looks like it rained most of the night!  I sure hope these "April Shower" bring the "May Flowers" even if they come in June or July

LLOYD, I'm not stepping into anyone else's shoes!  I have trouble keeping shoes on my own feet let alone trying on someone eles's.  But if I know the answer to someone's question, I'll give it out.

I have to get myself dressed and out on the town this morning.  Pennsylvania does coupons for Senior Citizens to be used for PA grown produce and they are available to be picked up on certain days.  Today is one of them.  So I'll be off to get mine today.

We're in "waiting mode" for Annie's pill.  When the beeper goes off, I'll feed them and get my breakfast, then get dressed and do a couple of errands.

I hope Everyfriend has a day that is just as you wish it to be.

Good morning everyone, yipee, the rain is stopped for now and the pavement is drying.Weather guesser just said a high of 54° yesterday, About time we have more normal temperatures. The manager relented and let the maintenance man turn the heat back on. So much for saving the owners a few dollars  when everyone was complaining about the cold in here.

CALLIE  hope it does not take too long for the work to be done in your home and things are back to normal.

JOAN  I hope you are kept comfortable on the trip to
fairhope. I am saying extra prayers for you. We will be happy when we see you here after you get settled in. Travel safe.

SHIRLEY  yesterday we were 25 degrees below normal here.  That I could take but not all the dampness that goes with all the rain. Have a safe trip and enjoy the mountains. Good, leave the computer home and just enjoy.

JUNE  not many at your age are as mobile as you or have the intelligence you have. I think I am the most boring person around, not you.

JANE  hope you found some Zzz's yesterday when you got home.

AMY  after all the doctor appointments you and your hubby must be so glad not to have to see his doctor till November.

SHIRLEY  at times I did uninstall PSP but a few times I put the disk in and checked the repair ( I think that is what showed up) and that worked.

LLOYD  glad you finally went fishing even if you did't catch anything to bring home.

JANE  looks like you have a busy day ahead of you again.

AMY  how many cords of wood do you get every year? I know you heat with your stove in the winter and that uses a lot.  I miss the heat from a stove like that.

LARRY  the link for on one click is for Window 10, I am still using 7.

JaneS I wasn't trying to say you were. I do not know why but when I boot up my computer it shows you first when I come to S & f . Nancy and I both love you for what we see on line and what we Sean when meeting you in person.
only thing is when we met you at the restraint you would not let me be the gentleman  i was raised to be  and pay for the meal. I was thought take care of the Lady and even walk on the outside and protect them. I still love you for being the friend you seam to be. have a great day at the market. we have Amish store about a hour drive from us we do quite a bit of shopping there. good fresh produce there and usually priced better than the local stores. they also have a action center where you can go and bid on it by the lot's  take one or all of what is up for bid. we usual buy two or three lugs of tomatoes and can them keeping two or three out of the best to slice for the table or a B L T yummy for the tummy. Amy

I just had this sent to me, were they trying to tell me something ? :)))

Ode to Old Age

Just a line to say I'm living
That I'm not among the dead
Though I'm getting more forgetful
And all mixed up in my head.
I got used to my Arthritis
To my dentures I'm resigned
I can manage my Bifocals
But dear God I miss my mind
For sometimes I can't remember
When I stand at the foot of the stairs
If I must go up for something
Or have I just come down from there?
And before the fridge so often
My poor mind is filled with doubt
Have I just put some food away?
Or have I come to take something out?
And there's a time, when it is dark
I stop and hold my head
I don't know if I'm retiring
Or am I getting out of bed?
So, If it is my turn to write to you
There's no need getting sore
I may think that I have written
And don't want to be a bore
So remember that I love you
And wish that you were near
But now it's nearly mail time,
So I must say "good-bye dear"
Here I stand before the mailbox
With a face so very red
Instead of mailing you my letter
I went and opened it instead.

Lloyd, I was teasing your for trying to put me in Joan's shoes.  They are the wrong size for any of us to fill.

I have fond memories of meeting you and Nancy and I consider you to be a real gentleman but my mother always said, when someone visits you, offer them a meal and be sure they don't go away hungry.  So you see, I was just obeying my mother's instructions.  You can still keep your "gentleman" status.

I'm off to pick up my produce coupons and then to pick up a couple things at the store.  Still raining here....I sure would love to see the sun shine.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well here I am, as usual, old tail end charlie.  I was up early and opened up the house and put the garbage out, which they have already picked up and me and the pup sit outside while I had my coffee and looked over the front page.  Our neighbors dogs, behind us and to one side, were all wound up this morning barking their heads off at god only knows, so I finally gave up and came back into the house.

Gloria, thankfully your "warden" relented and put some heat on.  Like Amy said being cold is a miserable thing.  I hate cold to begin with.  I used to love the real heat of summer but old age is taking it's toll there too.  Guess I am fortunate I have central heat/cooling.

Amy, my little wood chuck.  If you pay for wood like we have to here you must be rich.  a cord of wood down here, Oak, is higher than cat hair, or was when I was burning wood, I now have a gas fireplace.  No toting or cleaning required.....

Lloyd, think of your "no keepers" this way:  You didn't have to clean those nasty things.   ;D  Best thing about fishing is just sitting, looking, listening and enjoying being alive.  And of course seeing who can tell the biggest lie....LOL

Janie, enjoy shopping for those goodies.  What I wouldn't give to have a good produce vendor close by with farm fresh things.

Hope Joanie has a good trip today.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. We have an overcast and cooler day ahead with a high around 76 degrees and only a low chance of rain.  We did get a nice rain yesterday afternoon and I won't need to water tomorrow so can leave the sprinkling system off.  Today is another doctor appointment day and this one is for Pat.  Then this evening we plan on going to the Pizza Hut for our dinner so we can see our son for a few minutes.  He generally is off on Wednesday but it filling in for someone this week.  Not sure whether Jennifer will join us as she apparently had a bout of food poisoning Monday night and ended up in the ER.  I  learned yesterday that two more restaurants will be opening in North Augusta.  Chipotle Mexican Grill's new building is almost done and will open right away and an IHOP later.

Shirley, did I miss something as have you idea what you mean by "new Rocket".  Is your son driving you RV and camping with you or does he take his own and just travel behind or in front of you?  Watch out for those speeding tickets!  :)

Gloria, I love Italian food as really like pasta.  However, Pat tried to stay away from it so seldom do we go to an Italian restaurant.  Like June you are certainly not boring.  I always enjoy reading your postings like I do all of the postings here.  These are little windows into our lives that we are willing to share with others.  Try this for the one click of the mouse:  Try opening Control Panel / Folder Options.

Joan, you will be in my thought and prayers today as you make that trip to Fairhope.

June, you are never boring.

Amy, great news on your husbands recovery.

Lloyd, do you or can you use a chin strap with your CPAP machine?  My wife also fights the dry mouth at night as breaths thru her mouth when she is asleep.  However, she couldn't tolerate the chin strap.  I am fortunate to not be a mouth breather at night and don't have a problem keeping my mouth closed during sleep so don't have the dry mouth problem.

JaneS, what a nice thing to get the Senior Citizen coupons for PA grown produce.

Mary Ann

Jane, thank you for the explanation of Joan's later departure.  I kind of thought that might be the case but I hadn't read anything.  I just knew she had not arrived in Fairhope.

Amy, I liked your poem about age.  Fit's me to a "tee".

Here it is June and I have had my heat on, just enough to take the chill off, but I shouldn't have to turn it on now!  We may go to 80 degrees today, so I will dress accordingly.

Mary Ann

JaneS

I've been and I'm home.  The place where I got the produce coupons was about half way to the Amish Store (sorry Hal) so I continued there with my list of items needed.  They had everything except the yogurt that I need of the dogs but I'll try to remember to grab that on my way home from work tonight.

I was going to do some cooking when I got back but the trip to the Amish store squelched that idea.  I have to be at work at 4 p.m. today and I always try to rest a bit before I go.  All my stuff is put away and I'm thinking that I'll do the cooking tomorrow....if I feel like it.  I'm getting more "do it my way" in my old age than I ever was before.

I hope those of you who said you were "boring" were joking.  I kind of like Larry's? definition of these postings as being little windows on our lives.  I really feel close to all of you and I look forward to seeing what you're up to.  I rejoice with the good and sympatize with the sorrows in your lives.  I actually talk to you all as I read your postings and it makes me feel like you are right here in the room with me.  Keep on coming by.  The WELCOME mat is always out!  I miss you and and everyone else when you don't put in an appearance.  I pray for those who haven't been around in a while and I miss them.

Good morning. I'm on my tablet at my son's.  Have already had to start over twice.  >:(

I suspect my kitchen floor is being demolished as I type.

Miss Ellen due to arrive about noon.  Can't wait until I can hug her.

Wishing every friend everywhere an enjoyable day.

Amy

Our load of wood came..nice looking wood too.maple, beech and ash with the odd yellow birch thrown in.
Hal we but about 10+- face cords a year. We also burn wood in the garage/shop as there is running water in it. For a truck load of cut split wood runs about 380.00 a load. I love the wood heat and I cook off it in the winter also.

Jane, tomorrow is another day to do your cooking. I put some rhubarb muffins in the hidey hole for you and everyone else.

Callie  I can feel the excitement in your post wanting to hug Miss Ellie.

Mary Ann, it also fits me too.. my friend sent it back to me suited to today's time..
So I must say "good-bye dear"
Here I stand before the computer

June Drabek

Hi Janie, I'm dragging in late again. Woke again this morning feeling like I wanted to spend the day in bed, so again, I stayed there till about seven thirty, then did my leg massage, and dragged myself up. Kicked back in my recliner with a cup of coffee and did the morning reading, then nodded off for a while. Finally made it downstairs for the 10 a.m. Bible study. Instead of our Bible study, we had a family of Missionaries, as guests. They were on home rest from Cambodia where they have been hard at work for the past four years, bringing the folks who had no hope, to being believers in Jesus. A wonderfully hopeful program indeed.

My stomach was rather unhappy all day, so I decided to stay home the rest of the day and eat light, which I did. Just finished a dessert of peach yogurt, after a supper of clam chowder. The white one...very mild.

I did get a good walk in, fortunately. Legs have been sort of messed up because of the progressive arterial disease, and walking is the best help I can give them. Plus the twice daily massage with A and D ointment.

Still no news from our beloved Bis, but this move has surely been the most traumatic move she has ever made. So we will wait and pray.

We had a smidge of rain during the night. I had my windows open but no problem, and it was cloudy again, high of 70...I love it.

Time for me to close down and get ready for bed. Sleep well dear friends, God is watching over us all. I love you. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I also have a busy day coming up.  I've decided that the reason people don't call me back or come to do a job when they say they will is that I'm an old lady alone.  And that's discrimination.  Now I'm on my "high horse" and man in my life or no man in my life, I refuse to be ignored.  Today is the day I'm getting it done.  They will know I'm here and that I have a voice today!!

Don't get in my way, today!  Unless you have a shovel or a saw in your hand!

:cup: Good Morning Everyone (including Janie) just checking to be sure she is not too close by, something or someone has got her riled.  Janie if it does any good the same happens to us men also.  Seems everyone wants your business until they get it and then they disappear.  Hope you get accomplished what you want or need done.

I too am up early, have a 8:45 appointment at Warm Springs Hospital for an evaluation for PT.  I always dread the first appointment, a ton of paperwork, it seems, and most of the information they already have.

Weather is suppose to be warm today, in the 90's and no rain. And after my appointment this morning not much on tap, well I have been working with ATT on a caller ID issue, mine is not displaying the name of caller and they cant pinpoint the problem, my problem or theirs, well actually theirs, cause the equipment here at the house belongs to them.  But for the past couple of days I have been on the phone for a few hours with them.  And Janie, day before yesterday their supervisor was suppose to call me back and never did.  >:(  Anyhow I am waiting on another call from their "higher" tech support folks.

Got to get in bathroom, wife is up and growling at me to get a move on.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It is starting out a beautiful morning with the blue sky and bright sun.  We are to get only into the low 80's today.  Today will be my typical Thursday with coffee and my Wisdom group.  I do need to grate up a pound of cheddar cheese before I leave this morning.

Yesterday morning was spent with Pat's doctor appointment and she doesn't need to see this doctor again for 4 months.  Last evening we did go to the Pizza Hut for dinner and took both cars and left the Cruiser for Scott to drive home and keep for a week as he can add a little Freon in the A/C.  Jennifer was still recouping from the food poisoning, which apparently came from a little piece of lobster she had shared with a friend as they both became sick and she passed on joining us for dinner.  He was pretty busy so only got to speak to him a couple of short periods but that was all right as we got to see him and didn't want to interfere with his job.

Mary Ann, it is always nice when we need neither heat or cool to be turned on.  It sure helps the utility bill.

JaneS, can you use the produce coupons at Walmart or just at certain produce stands or markets?  There was an interesting story on 60 Minutes Sunday evening about the Chobani yogut, which is now the largest selling brand.  Here is a link to the very unprobable success story:  http://www.cbsnews.com/news/chobani-billionaire-founder-on-creating-jobs-in-america-2/

Callie, it sounds like you kitchen work should be done by the weekend.  Nice you can spend the time at your son's while all of the noise is going on at your home.

Amy,  don't envy you in having stack that load of wood.  At this point in my life I would have serious trouble in getting the wood from the woodpile to the house and into the stove.  Do you have any problem with termites or bugs if you store any in your garage or house?

Lloyd, do you have one of those big balers or does someone bale it for you.  I was away from the farm in Alaska when those big bales started being used for haying and it was a shock when I came back to see them in the fields back in the late 60's. My job was often to sit on the baler to check the knotter to be sure the small bales were properly tied.  It was a hot and very dirty job.  And then getting the job of being in the hayloft and carrying the bales to stack them in the barnloft as they came up the elevator.

June, sure hope you are feeling better today.  Glad you are able to walk and that helps your legs.

Phyllis, sure hope you dental appointment today goes as well as your last one.  I know you will be glad to see those visits ended as it sure isn't fun to anticipate them.

JaneS, glad you stand up for yourself and hope you can get hold of whoever is neglecting you.

Hal, I am very tolerate if someone is schedule to be here and calls and lets me know there is a delay.  However, I am not tolerate of those who treat me as a customer without concern and don't call but just don't show up.  Hope your evaluation for PT isn't too hard on you other than on your writing hand.  I like it when they send the paperwork in advance or the forms can be downloaded and filled at at home to take with me.

Lloyd Hammond

well I have read over all . I agree with most all. I am having a i do not care day today laze. I slept in late went out and set a spell watching the humming Birds eat. Nancy horded food on the table so i have to go before she throws it out to the dog.see you all later.

Good Sunny Morning Everyone,
from the warm and pleasant rocky coast of Maine.

I am up early and going to be focused on the television today
as "history is in the making", and I choose not to miss it.

In the meantime,  I hope to take a walk and do some shopping
down the street.    In a couple of weeks,  Kelly and two of
her gals will be off to spending a few weeks in Europe
(Ireland, Germany. Italy and Switzerland.).

I will miss them all.

Kelly will be gone for three weeks, and
Maggie and Maeve will be gone for six weeks.

I am looking forward to there return home.

Other wise all is well here.
Four days and I hope to get my cast off...

Larry, I was never "privileged" to do haying.  But my Dad told me the story of when he was young and doing a job similar to yours.  He said that he had to stomp the hay into a chute and always left his shoe untied so it would come off his foot if it got caught up in the grass.  He, like you, said it was a nasty job.  But then I don't know of any job, when working in the fields, that wasn't hot, dusty and dirty.

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Had another night of being awake. Finally fell asleep about 5 this morning. Noise finally woke me. Have a new tenant moving in today on the second floor. They have quite a crew moving the lady in.
Yesterday was the first day we had some sunshine in much too long. Tiday the sun is bright again and warmer than yesterday. Feels good not to have to dress all bundled up to be warm.

LLOYD  A lady I worked with went to Georgia for a visit and brought me back 2 tree ripened peaches, best peaches I ever had. Sweet and juicy. Once is awhile the farm I like will bet some native peaches and they are food, still with the fuzzy skin.

AMY  I have copied your Ode to Old Age. I just might print it out and put it on the bullliten board near the elevator. It was the maintenance man who told me the heat was on. He has more compassion for us than the “witch” has. That is what most of us think of her as.

JANE  like you, whenever someone came to our home the first thing after the greetings my Mom would get the coffee pot going. I thought every one was like that, all my family are. My daughter was telling me when she moved to San Diego that out there noone even offered a glass of water. When someone went to her home she always offered something like coffee. Tea  and cookies at least. She surprised many of them. Now in Arizona every one she has met so far are like we are. Guests do not go away thirsty or hungry. The last few years they have given seniors $15 coupon book to use at farmers markets. Of course mine went to the farm I like when their blueberries are ready. Stock mu freezer with them. I called them to ask if my son could use them for me as I do not get there anymore. It was OK especially since they know both of us.

HAL  I can take winter cold better than summer heat and humidity. With all the rain and dampness we had it really was getting into my back.

LARRY  I still love pasta but like only homemade pasta sauce. I cannot tolerate the ones bought is jars or cans. I will try that when I finish here, thank you. Every time I go to the dentist I am thanful I am not a mouth breather.

MARY ANN  same here needing heat in June. 2 different local channels gave me a chuckle. One said 80 for Sunday and the other said close to 90 for Sunday. Will wait and see which one has the better weather guesser.

JANE  one of the things I love about the SS is how when someone is missing for a day how we all start to worry. Just like the way a family does. I amd hoping that soon JOAN will be able to start posting again, even if it is without her morning goodies. She is more important to all of us.

Have a good rest of the day. I think my afternoon will be a rest on the couch.
