One day it just clicks. You realize what's important and what isn't. You learn to care less about what other people think of you and more about what you think of yourself. You realize how far you have come and you remember when you thought things were such a mess that you would never recover. And you smile.  Because you are truly proud of yourself and the person you fought to become.

"Later"
 - Talk to you later.
 - I'll call you later.
 - See you later.
 - We'll walk later.
 "I'll tell you later."
We leave everything for later, but forget that "later" does not belong to us.
Later, our loved ones are no longer with us.
Later, we don't hear them and we don't see them.
 Later, they are just memories.
Later, the day becomes night, the force becomes helpless,
the smile becomes a grimace, and life becomes death.
 "Later" becomes "too late."

Winter in Jerusalem
The rains will return soon.
This year I will notice the wet stones
of Jerusalem and call them art.

I will cherish the sweet, fat flesh
of February's yellow peppers
the same way I admire
the sunlight that
illuminates the arcs of water
my arms draw in the air
when I backstroke my way
through July.

Soon I will burrow
into my warm boots and grey sweatshirt,
thin and soft with age.

I will inhale the strawberry scent
that perfumes Israel's winter.
I will fill my husband's belly with soup.
I will kindle the lights of Chanukah
with visitors I love and
cry when they leave.

And I will bless You,
Master of All, for inviting me
to witness another season.

Good morning

Looks like a dance with Mr Snowblower out there this morning. We are not as bad as other areas so not complaining. My day will be busy  removing the snow and then a day of rest....I hope.

Bubble, thank you for the new start page. You always come up with and excel what has been done in the past.

Jane, you didn't check in yesterday dear lady. How is the new family doing?

Rick ,did you get snow your way?

Better get ready to dance

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I got lost in here today!  have things changed?

Yesterday was a busy day and that's why I didn't show up.  I loved today's opening!  it was great.  Thank you BUBBLE!

I don't have much time to chat this morning.   I have to get a shower and get dressed before Cathy gets here.  She dropping me off at church this morning and then coming back this afternoon to help me put up my Christmas tree and decorate.  I feel late this Christmas with my shopping.  I guess it's time in my life to get better organized.  I'm heading for 90 this coming April.

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!

I put my mini Christmas tree out in the living area yesterday and started to dig out some decorations. I will have to wrestle with the big box under the stairs to find my mini-ornaments today. Expect Shan to go nuts!

It is colder than usual for this time of year, so the local news reports. Hmmmm! Wasn't it just warmer than usual a week or two ago? It is currently 24oF to go up to about 33oF.

I slept through 8 hours last night - cannot believe - it is at least 2 years since I slept through without waking 5 hours in, up and back to bed hopefully to fall asleep for 2 more hours. Sometimes up a couple of hours not doing much and then a nap for2 hours - this was a shock going 8 whole hours.

Good morning everyone, December first already, time moves so fast and not too long ago I thought it moved too slow!

Tomorrow our cold wave will end, minus 28 presently; and by the third, back into the pluses.

Nothing new here, meet and greets went well, domestic duties, thanks again Callie, went well, and I'm off to see what else has happened overnight.

BarbStAubrey

Sunday or not it was a productive day for a change - organized some shelves and found a use for a wooden container I purchased at least 40 or 50 years ago with plans to paint Folk Designs when that was all the rage - never got to it but a lovely wooden deep carryall with handles carved into the two short sides that I'm glad I kept - put the poinsettia in it that Sally gave me and it is just perfect - the pot has plenty of room but best the flowers are now protected because of the size of the container - I placed it on the floor near the windows in the room I call my activity room - If I did not have this wooden box to hold it I would never have put this bright spot of red on the floor near these floor to ceiling windows.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm in the middle of waiting for Cooper's arrival!  The last couple days around here have been trying to get some Christmas decorating done.  I have my ttee up!  I used to say I would never have a fake tree in my house but I caved in year before last and Cathy took me shopping for one that keeps it lighst and you plug in after setting up.  Another sign I'm aging!  Anyway, that's all up and shining and some of my candles are in the windows.  I don't think I'm going to do much more decorating this year!

Cathy is picking me up this afternoon to do some Christmas shopping.  Mostly it will be gift cards for the adults and the three littles in OK will have a gave they can play together.  It's already at my daughter's down there.  She's going to wrap it and I'm sending a card to go with it.

I guess I better get my breakfast finished before it's time for Cooper.  I wish you all a great day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to let us know how you did that.  Maybe we'll want to try it your way!

Good morning all!

The sun is shining, but I don't think it is going to help the temps much today. It has finally decided to get really cold. Right now it stands at 22oF. Glad I don't need to go out today except for a short trip to the trash bin.

Yesterday I dragged out my Christmas decorations and decorated my wee table top tree. It is now residing up on a bookshelf, hopefully high enough to discourage Oscar from the climb. It is high enough that Shan, who is not a climber, cannot get too it. My mini-light string is not working, so I guess I will have to remember to buy a string for next year. Some of my remaining Christmas stuffed animals and a few Christmas themed nick-knacks also found spots up away from any CATastrophe. Or so I hope!

Today is devoted to laundry, bathroom and kitchen cleaning, and the complete monthly cat potty-box change out.

Well back into the 60s at least but not for long - Wednesday brings another norther with rain this time and back into the 40s during the day - I wonder if this weather will be like last year when we had a couple of weeks of winter before Christmas and then up into the 70s except for a brief cold front in February.

Feeling all cattywampus today - can't settle down to do anything - really dumb last night - nothing on TV and I found the Vienna Summer Symphony to watch - so soothing I fell asleep on the sofa and evidently one symphony followed another till a country western musical venue with voices singing woke me up AT 3:00 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING

I was shocked and so discombobulated - could hardly shut off the TV and lights - piled into bed clothes and all - of course slept in and still outer kilter. Water, no coffee, not hungry - headed for the computer - helped some to clear my head - Maybe a bowl of soup will bring me full circle and then still time to get something done...

Good morning, minus three presently and snow due overnight, warming from our last cold spell. I used to say I was happier living in a dry climate, as the same temperature was warmer than in a wet climate with more humidity. However, that has been changing in the last four years with more humidity making our winter temps colder.

Meet and greets went well and everyone has been fed and watered. My coffee pot broke, and I'm steeling myself to drag out the old metal perking pot or wait until my shopping tomorrow. I miss the old days before the state bought those seven buildings, and there was always a large coffee pot going in the first floor kitchen. And even the group of old men who spent their days playing cards around that coffee pot, but mainly gossiping about those living around them.

"cattywampus" --- A new one for me. Never too late to pick up a few new words,
Winter has arrived - hitting around 20° at night. A bit too cool for running out in the morning to pick up the paper.
I've made it a practice to do any Christmas decorating till the 15th. That way I don't tire of it, and can keep it up till after the New Year gets a start.

Rammel, how about "gobbledygook" ?

JaneS

Good Morning, Everyfriend!

"Cattywampus" and "Gobbledegook" are both old word in my family.  I remember being quite your when I was trying to do something and my grandfather stopped to help me.  He said, "your've got it all cattywampus! Turn it around the other way".  I did and it worked.

I see it's getting light.  time to take Cooper for his first walk of the day.  I'd rather not!  it's only 22 degrees out there but he loves to walk.

See, yall later!  have a great day!  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning..

Yesterday was busy! Off and running at 6:30, not much traffic at that hour which makes it nice for driving.  Had a quick shop at Costco, opened at 8:50  and I was out at 9:02, just didn't get maraschino cherries.

Today is another busy one but thankfully here at home.

One in never too old to learn.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I haven't heard anyone use nor have I used gobbledygook in a long time. I do still use cattywampus. Nobody around here, lately, has ever heard the word, so I have to explain it.

Tomorrow Shan and I will be braving the cold for his annual physical. I also need to discuss a diet change for Oscar. I'm having a lot of trouble getting him to eat sometimes. While no one seems to sell cat food for liver problems, Hill's did recommend using their Kidney support (K/D)foods. So, using that recommendation I have been checking on others like Blue Buffalo, Purina ProPlan, and Royal Canin vet diets for kidney support. Royal Canin has a bunch, including some marked "Early Support" and, I noted, a few that include mobility support which Oscar doesn't need. Europe seems to be ahead of the US on selling pet food for liver disease.

That's not a new one to me, but as mentioned above - haven't heard it in a while. It's interesting how different locations have different sayings.

I think maybe both "gobbledygook" and "cattywampus" came from the Pennsylvania Dutch and that's why we heard them in this area!

Washher is stopped and the dryer just finished so I'm back on the job.  Continue your day...whatever you're up to!

Good morning, we've warmed up again, and I need to get as much done early as I'm going to town with friends for the monthly bills, groceries and checking on a vet's availability for Farrah's annual workup and shots.

I've heard both words from my childhood, but not in many, many years. Both of my parents were Midwesterners, so I'm not sure from which parent. Words seem to shift and change with the times.

Farrah is twelve, and goes through periods with her food preferences. I always have fresh water and a senior cat dry food available, plus a couple of tablespoons of wet food in the morning. Not too long ago, it was chicken and now it's fish, preferably salmon, next week who knows?

She's begun showing signs of age, (twelve feline years is equivalent to 64 human years), no longer jumping more than four feet or using the higher cat towers.

MarsGal

I thought so too, Jane, but I looked them up. According to what I read, gobbledygook comes out of Texas and cattywampus is listed as a southern word that has been, or had been, spreading farther afield. Well, I'd have to say that if it was spreading, it seems to be losing ground now.

Patricia, sounds a little like Oscar regarding the food. He is two years ahead of Farrah.

Tomereader1

MarsGal, good luck with finding any of the Royal Canin specialized cat diets. My daughter's two cats were on two different ones.  For awhile she could get them in pet stores locally, but then had to go to mail order, but that went by the wayside, and she couldn't get the Canin anywhere. Even the pet stores that formerly kept the Canin products could no longer get the specialized ones. Also, that was the vet's recommendation for her pets.

Well I'll be - checking my usual websites before I pack it in and an article that's mouth dropping - they're still working on the Jon Benet Ramsey Case - that was almost 30 years ago - remember reading the mother passed - Is the father still alive? He'd have to be in his 80s - article says something about progress in DNA.

Nothing on TV again and so I'm playing Christmas music - sweet before bed - g'night...

Amy

Good morning..

No new snow so far to deal with.  Have a busy day ahead doing more baking, Found a new recipe I would like to try and wonders of wonders I have all the ingredients on hand.

The neighbours cat, Callie is going through the same thing of not eating. They have tried chicken, tuna, salmon anything to tempt her with. Callie is 16 yrs old.

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.
