Rammel, Ive never heard of one ;D

I actually cooked today! :o  Just about ready to have my Mother's meat loaf rolled like a jelly roll with grated Mozzarella cheese in the middle before baking. I am, however, having instant potatoes and leftover canned carrots to go with. Can only do so much at one time.
;D

BarbStAubrey

If I only pull the quilt up to cover my legs I don't fall into a sound sleep but enough rest to refresh me - and sure enough - a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea and I've opened newly delivered boxes, broke them down and into the outside garbage, finished two loads of laundry, hanging and folding the coloreds but not the whites yet and put some soup in that I will have in a bit - nothing much on TV again while PBS does their fund drive - over tomorrow - most of the Christmas shows are inane and so it looks like a movie will be my best bet.

In the late afternoon if I do more than a half hour nap I cannot get to sleep and it throws off my entire sleep pattern... as it is I struggle to stay in bed for a decent sleep of 7 hours rather then 4 or 5 then up for a few hours and back down for about 3 which never gives me the energy to really have an accomplished day...

I did take time to answer my email and check my other go-to web sites - I've Caspian news and today they had a fabulous summery of what is happening and may happen in Syria - heard yesterday from a news reporter in India, who had been saying much the same thing - His focus was more on the Druze population living mostly in the Syrian Golan Heights that wants to join Israel and he relates that to the Hindus in Bangladesh - there are more players than a baseball team directly involved in Syria - put the link on the political page here in the Forum not knowing where I should post it - fascinating info - none of this is shared in our news...

By the way have any of you ever heard of the Druze population - seems they are and then they aren't a Muslim group - from what I gather that means they are not either Shia or Sunni but some other form of Muslim

good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and now....Good Night!  I didn't have Cooper today and sure did get a lot done.  And I wore myself to a frazzle!  I'm ready to hit the hay and I have to hit the floor about 5 A.M. tomorrow morning so I can be dressed and have my breakfast when Cooper gets here a little before 6.

I have the Christmas bags all packed for my family and my neighbors.  And my dining room table is a table once more and not a wrapping station.  I even wrapped the fruit cake to be ready to take it to church next Sunday!

I wish you all a GOOD NIGHT and a good day tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way!  And let us know how you did that.  We might like to do it too.  GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS!

Good morning..

Yesterday was a busy one. and a cold one. I did opt out of hanging the laundry out as it ws  only 15°. This morning temp is 5°
A day of rest here..and I am taking it!

Hey Barb, glad to hear you are watching Caspian Reports. He has gotten praises for being one of the most reliable sources for things Geopolitical.

This morning before I got online, I ran across a YouTube clip about Uyghur's who took part in the overthrow of the Syrian government. The clip stated that their ultimate goal is to fight China. Sorry, I didn't catch who did the clip. No telling yet how their presence in Syria will affect the country's (post Assad) relations with China. Uyghur refugee presence has been one of the sticking points that Syria has been dealing with regarding the Chinese commercial inroads.

The weatherman has promised us some crappy weather for the next two days. With temps hovering just about freezing give or take a few degrees, we are to expect a rain/snow mix beginning around noon.

What I didn't get done yesterday, needs doing today. Maybe I can sit with the cats and read a bit this afternoon.

phyllis

Off and on cloudy and windy today. Showers nearby but not here.  Just that damp feel that seeps into the bones.   I just mentioned to David that he might try lighting the fireplace logs sometime today.

Barb and MG, I subscribe to a news letter called 1440 News report. They give unbiased reporting of national and international events and deliver it to my mailbox daily.  I no longer trust American news agencies to be unbiased or trustworthy.

Most of my Christmas prep is done except for a few Christmas and birthday cards to send.  The steaks for our Christmas dinner came yesterday and the meat and cheeses for Christmas eve will be delivered by our wonderful catering company tomorrow. Also, some Shepherds pie and some Butternut Squash soup that I am looking forward to.

For today, I need to put down this tablet and warm some muffins for breakfast/brunch.  Take care, All.

I CAME ACROSS THIS BEAUTIFUL POEM AND HOPE YOU ALL WILL LIKE IT, TOO.

Grim was the world and grey last night:
The moon and stars were fled,
The hall was dark without song or light,
The fires were fallen dead.
The wind in the trees was like to the sea,
And over the mountains' teeth
It whistled bitter-cold and free,
As a sword leapt from its sheath.
The lord of snows upreared his head;
His mantle long and pale
Upon the bitter blast was spread
And hung o'er hill and dale.
The world was blind,
the boughs were bent,
All ways and paths were wild:
Then the veil of cloud apart was rent,
And here was born a Child.
The ancient dome of heaven sheer
Was pricked with distant light;
A star came shining white and clear
Alone above the night.
In the dale of dark in that hour of birth
One voice on a sudden sang:
Then all the bells in Heaven and Earth
Together at midnight rang.
Mary sang in this world below:
They heard her song arise
O'er mist and over mountain snow
To the walls of Paradise,
And the tongue of many bells was stirred
in Heaven's towers to ring
When the voice of mortal maid was heard,
That was mother of Heaven's King.
Glad is the world and fair this night
With stars about its head,
And the hall is filled with laughter and light,
And fires are burning red.
The bells of Paradise now ring
With bells of Christendom,
And Gloria, Gloria we will sing
That God on earth is come.

I'll have to look into 1440 news - thanks Phyllis

MarsGal the bit on overthrowing China sounds to me like someone trying to get the end of a string and make sense out of the Syrian mess - After seeing the Caspian Report there are so many involved that will have to war it out between themselves because some want Syria to stay a whole nation where as others do not - and from what I understand there are many outside interests that each have their hooks in a certain group - just those who toppled Assad are 3 major groups and so if the news is attempting to make one group's leader 'the' leader at this point I think that is over-reach.

Few like to wait for a hairball to sort itself out and would like to start the sorting - this hairball appears more complicated then good guys and bad guys - Just the religious element is a nightmare with 4 or 5 major religious groups never mind the territorial interests and then each group appears to have support from world class nations like yes, China but equally Russia and Turkey with the US throwing it's 2 cents in and then Iran has lost their land bridge to supply those fighting Israel - Personally I would take any talk of going after China at this point with a grain of salt - They first have to decide upon leadership, a constitution and what part of Syria will stay and if parts of Syria will break off.

So far I'm finding the reporters who live, work, and report from the Middle East and Asia, like India and Pakistan are not making conclusions about the future of Syria or the Rebels intent. Interesting to me was learning just about all the Rebel leaders were with another earlier organization not necessarily seen by the US as our friend.  Ok my opinion - no more and no less - we shall see what we shall see ;)

Thanks for that reminder Rammel - the sun will stay with us longer starting next week tra la... The sun was out in force today and yes in the high 70s - Now the big question around here gets to be will we have more winter or not and if not will we have enough rain or not - more than likely if we do have more winter it will be in February - January is seldom cold

Thanks Phyllis ever so much for sharing the Tolkien poem - reminds me to see blessings in my life which is actually calm - where some in the world are struggling I can take time to look at stars and realize the wonderment that is Christmas.

Which you've reminded me I need to order some Butternut Squash Soup the end of this week - All my out of town gifts are either on their way or delivered but I have not yet started to wrap the gifts for Paul and Sally and the boys who will all be in Lubbock including Cooper who will drive down from Denver.

Good morning..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Lots of interesting texts.  I copied the poem and will have it posted in a prominent place and I'll be reading it over and over.  Thank you!

I've been up and around the house for a while but not outside yet.  We're up 2 degress from Amy at 33 right now.  and there's snow on the ground!  My road has been plowed already but not my driveway.  My neighbor across the street usually does my driveway when he finishes his own but they must not have to go anywhere either because he hasn't started yet.

And I have a load of laundry in the washer that includes my new long underwear and I'm not getting dressed until it is through the dryer and ready to wear.  So here I sit in my jammies and robe!  I do not expect any company so I guess I'll be ok!  And if I do get some company, I'm well covered!

I hope you all have a good day.  Keep your feet dry and your heads warm!

Jane, my long underwear will be here on Thursday, if Amazon doesn't go on strike.  🥶 lol.

We  are back to cloudy, damp and chilly.  But, NOT going anywhere so I am not going to fuss about the weather.

Best I can tell, Barb, is that the Assad regime promised protection to the Ugyhur refugees. It has been a sticking point between Syria and China during their negotiations with china for trade and infrastructure upgrades. Now that protection is in jeopardy, depending on what eventually settles out of the regime collapse. Meanwhile, the US and Turkey still have their fingers in the pie up via the Kurdish conflicts. Syria is certainly going to try to regain/expand its influence, and I am waiting to see how fast Russia reasserts its influence. I was actually surprised to find that Russia pulled out so fast and apparently completely.

Good morning everyone. There is a thin layer of snow on the ground this morning, but the roads are clear. The temp just now is 340 and will be slowly rising with rain overnight. Tomorrow, we are told, will be in the 50s.

Oscar is trying out a special diet of his own now. I bought him some Hills Science prescription K/D Renal Care (early stage) food which is pork, chicken and chicken liver. He dug right in. However, he has a habit of sticking his nose up to food after a few days and then the hunt begins all over again. I have been collecting unused cat food for a while now. Shan has his own special C/D urinary diet. Liver disease doesn't get it's own prescription diet (except for one brand which sells a dry food prescription), probably because there are so many causes. I've seen a number of websites or posts where people are making their own recommend chicken, chicken liver, salmon or sardines. I don't remember if pork was included in the list. No tuna, though because of the mercury poisoning potential.

Best get started on my day. It is a bit later than I realized.

Yes MarsGal, I've heard reporters say that Russia diverted its resources to its fight in the Ukraine - being a wealthy nation that the US would prefer to think it isn't I'm wondering if there is something more - like maybe they had the sense this was going to be a long and protracted process and the only reason they were there was to secure a southern port so why get in the middle of it... some reports are already bringing shade to some of the rebel leaders suggesting they have hidden agendas - well like you it will be interesting to learn more about the Druze who I understand have Christian elements to their religion in addition to Plato - that to me came out of left field - then, I had heard of the Alawites but did not know they were split into 2 groups, traditional Alawites and Murshid Alawites and today just heard of another religious group, Yazidis.

I guess I always thought nations in the middle east meant an Arab population that was Muslim and then back when Bush Jr. was president I became more aware the difference between Sunni and Shea as a basis for war and learned about their differences and now this - here I'm thinking middle east means homogeneous nations and each is anything but.

Like MaryPage challenging herself to learn Calculus looks like my challenge will be  learning not only these different religions but the history of them - always something to tickle the curiosity.

Talk about spending a lifetime solving what makes a new contraption - I saw this and my sister sent me the Youtube that I did not watch through till this morning - that was a mistake this is unbelievable how he is creating these objects and he had a specific purpose in mind when he started which was to protect the dunes in the Netherlands - along the way he develops bits of mechanical brain and mechanical muscle - on and on... fascinating stuff... enjoy

Well, today was a busy day all by myself!  The snow is still on the ground but the roads are pretty clear and right now, it's raining so I'm thinking there might not be much snow left by tomorrow morning.

And speaking of "right now", I'm so tired I can't think straight!  I'm ready for the haystack and that's where I'm heading.  I'll have Cooper tomorrow but Frankie's car is getting a new muffler and my Son's wife is driving  Frankie to work and then dropping Cooper here!  So it will be just a little different tomorrow!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy day tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way.  And don't forget to tell us how you did that.  We might want to try it!

Good morning..
We had rain all night plus a thunder storm! Certainly made the snow go down.
Today is a  busy one getting  more baking done and cooking a piece of beef for Jesse  and cleaning up my mess in the kitchen.

Better get at it.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning Jane! Enjoy your walk and watch out for icy patches.

Good morning, Jane. No sun today. Cloudy, but not foggy. It is 39o now, to go up into the 50s. Tomorrow we are expecting heavy rain, or so the weather forecast says.

It looks like I can get some of this cardboard and recyclables out to the bins today. They only put out three regular household sized bins and they have been getting filled up almost immediately the last few weeks. I've got some ready to go and more boxes to cut down to size. Not everybody bothers to cut or flatten their boxes, so the bins can fill up almost immediately. Any stuff left outside the bins gets tossed into the regular trash container by the maintenance people.

Shan could use a good brush, and if still have the dry shampoo for cats I bought a year or so ago, I may corner him in the bathroom and attempt that. I doubt I will be successful other than getting powder all over me and the floor. But, who knows, he might sit still for a few seconds.

Good morning,

JaneS

Good Morning or is it already afternoon?  Cooper and I have had 2 walks and I'm not sure when Frankie is picking him up.  Her car is being repaired and my DIL will be taking her to pick it up.  I just might have an overnight guest tonight.

I've got a lot done today but most of it doesn't show.  A bunch of it was done on the computer and the phone.  My head is whirling and I'm ready to close my eyes for a bit.  Supper is ready to be cooked and it won't take much time.  it's going to be spaghetti and the sauce is in one of my canning jars so all that needs cooking is the past itself.  No big problem!

This day just whooshed right past me!  I'll be sort of glad when it's time to hit the hay!  I wish you all a good rest of this one and a comfy night!  Tomorrow, I'm going to my monthly lunch with some of the ladies that I used to work with at PA House.  I always enjoy that!  Hope to see you later!  Keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll get where you're going!

I'd be wide awake at 2:00 a.m. if I went to bed this early!

Very busy day with son helping with projects here at home and taking me to do errands.

He will take me to a "maintenance" medical appointment tomorrow - and then more errands!

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Where there is a will there is a way - trying to finally get my bedroom the way I like it and after being told chest and desk is too heavy and that I need to wait till one of the grandboys visits next Spring I stewed and stewed and finally a week later figured out that if I put hand-towels under each leg I can more the furniture easily across the wood floor.

Yesterday and today I moved and rearranged and decided what I liked and so today I finished even deciding what and where things would hang on the walls. What a lift - last room to be arranged and put together.

Doing more Christmas this year and I even hung wreathes - still have some wrapping to do and more to hang but feeling more accomplished than I have since moving in...

Now if I can get my furnace sorted out I will feel like George Strait at his Kyle Field concert. Service guy coming on Thursday to figure out why the heat comes on when the furnace is shut off at the thermostat and today it came on when I had the AC set for granted far higher than any December Temp would tell it to come on but the HEAT came on - A ghost from Christmas Pasts??? :D

Amy

Good morning..
Gosh it is cold IN here! Woke to find out the furnace was not running,60° in here! Went ot check breakersand the furnace breaker altho on just needed to be flipped off then on and away it went!

Need to fill tarts shells that were rolled yesterday and do some laundry. Also need to slice chicken breasts bread and cook them to be frozen for meals later on.

Patricia, we are to get more snow next week, the rain did take it down some
but we still have 4-5 inches in the backyard. Rain showed up a lot of the landminds that the snow had covered so that is another job!

Jane, have fun with Cooper. I was going to fill and bake the tarts yesterday but a nap put me in bed!!! :))

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, I'm all prepped and ready for today's structural inspection. I rearranged both bedroom and kitchen and tided up. All this for them to come through and, in less than ten minutes, check the alarms, intercoms, lights and windows and doors, say thank you and out the door again. I don't know why I do this, they're not worried about my housekeeping they are about something needing to be repaired, but I do this each time.

Amy, we had a large snow dump yesterday and Monday night, however, the snow graders and dump trucks were out all night clearing the way. One good thing about living on the edge of the business district, they keep up the street maintenance. So far, no freezing rain and no more snow until the middle of next week.
