Patricia sounds like you neighbor is a real winner  :tickedoff:  :P  :knuppel2:

Amy how you do anything in those kind of temperatures is beyond my imagination  :smitten:

Denver that is so frustrating to loose a post - and I bet more frustrating to retype  :( and for your effort  :-*

Looks like we are being somewhat affected by this latest vortex - is this just a new word the weather men have come up with or is it a new thing and we are having two of them this year???

Also waiting on my son to come by just after lunch - my furnace made three increasingly loud bangs and the last one shook the house - Over an hour later and I've inched the thermostat up to one degree below what the temp is reading to see if it comes on - so far notta ---

Not uncomfortable cold and yet, the thermostat reads 68 and the few room thermometers read 69 - during the day on cold days I usually set the thermostat at 71 and here lately since the new furnace and thermostat was installed the heat would go up as much as 74 and 75 before it shut off - No matter what I tell these guys including my son they do not believe me - I've decided it's one of the glories of being old - the thinking is old people don't know what they are talking about - Well we shall see - problem I'm the one paying for this and being made uncomfortable in my own home grrrrr and now God knows what happened and He is not telling me nor can I manage the pulldown attic stairs to look for myself if the furnace blew up.

Ok it appears I'm in for a day of fun and games - hope y'all have a good day that is calm and satisfying... till later...

patricia19

Good morning, eleven degrees and cloudy presently, so nice to see the clouds back to hold in any heat. Meet and greets, morning routine and Farrah fed and coffee's on. So here I am to visit with everyone.

BarbStAubrey

Furnace fixed - not as dire as I anticipated - seems nearby road construction caused the loud bang that shook the house this morning and NOT my furnace although it dislodged a few connections including the outside security cameras - just about got that all taken care of and now this 'stella' road construction crew broke the water main and so no water for about 4 hours - to add to this inconvenience I have cleaners here that I schedule for every 6 weeks and of course they are here now with no water... we are getting what hot water is left in the hot water tank so that they can do some of the cleaning...

I'm sure folks would complain about extra cost however, seems to me there should be a fund to re-reimburse nearby home owners for the extra cost of extra cleaning and being without ether water, or electricity when their crew brakes things - so far no gas main broken - as things are going I wouldn't put it past them... then a real explosion would take place... sheesh

This has become a sitcom of the unexpected... at the point laughter is all that is left - can't rustle up any more outrage nor even annoyance...  :coolsmiley:

Sounds like one of those days when you just sit there waiting (hopefully) for your coffee to finish and think - what's next.

Good Night Everyfriend!  Today was a SHEESH day for me!  Cathy and I took all kinds of papers to the office to get me a new card to enable me to by air flight tickets.  She looked at all the stuff and then said "do you have a name change card".  I just looked blankly at her and she explained.  I dropped my given first name when I was 10 and haven't used it since except on travel cards.  And I didn't have anything official that allowed me to change my name.  So from now on I either walk, drive, take the bus or stay home!

When we got home we called Cindy in Oklahoma and told her that if I went back with her after my birthday I was unable to fly home.  She said, "No problem!  I'll just drive her back home".  So my visit with my Great Grand kids is still on!

Now I'm heady for the haystack.  I don't have Cooper for the day tomorrow but Frankie is coming by to give him a bath and then leave him while she goes to the grocery store.  She'll pick up a couple things for me while she's there!  So Good Night!  Sweet Dreams! and make tomorrow your best day ever!

Wow Jane bummer - can someone else buy the airline ticket and gift it to you - the officials don't have to know you paid the person gifting you the airline ticket.

I did look it up and its not an inexpensive project changing your name in Pa. and in fact they say they can approve or disapprove based on why you are changing your name - sheesh --- hmm I wonder if you could change your name with less hassle and less money in Oklahoma - Looks like Oklahoma only charges around $154.14 for the court filing fee, plus an additional publication notice fee of approximately $30, bringing the total to around $184.14 however...you would still have to pay the cost of changing your driver's license but then - what would it be like to get an Oklahoma drivers license and then after a few months transfer it to PA. Just use Cindy's address - as an elder moving in with family for a time is not unheard of and you don't have to share for how long... Just trying to figure out if there is a way around all this...

Took a long nap late this afternoon and only woke well after 6: but it was worth it - Head clear, Water back on, House clean - gave them a generous tip when they left - had soup in the frig to heat up and so it was like waking up to a clean slate. I think I would probably have slept through till the early hours but a storm with lots of donner and blitzen flashed and crashed me awake - caught up on all the news - TV series Murder She Wrote was a repeat I've seen a couple of times and so shut that off and now heading to bed... sleep tight everyone...

Amy

Good morning..

Starting off at -13°F bit chilly. I did manage to get some of the "jobs" done yesterday. Removed snow off the back roof and part of the utility trailer with the snow rake then blew it away. One more roof to do but we shall see, I didn't listen to me yesterday  but I just may listen to my muscles today. Seems we are in for more snow tomorrow..  :tickedoff:

Made a IP of bean and ham soup  for today..will think about supper later.  ::)

Barb, bright sunny days and dressed warm is fine. I have a Woods down coat and you can't wear it unless the temps are in the basement.just too hot but great for these minus temps or bitter winds.

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept in a tad this morning!  I wasn't up on my feet until almost 7.  No Cooper this morning.  Everything is done so far, bed is made, I had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, put in the first eye drops.  However, I'm not yet dressed.  This is very unusual for me.  I usually get dressed to meet Cooper so we can have a walk right after his breakfast.  I think maybe I'm loafing this morning!

AMY, I thought it was cold here this morning (when I got up it was 12 degrees) but you are even colder!  Please keep it in the North.  And if you want to chase it from your area, PLEASE chase it NORTH!  I AM READY FOR SPRING!!!

I guess I better think about getting dressed and MAYBE I'll try taking a walk in this (crappy) weather!  And maybe I won't!  I could always do circles inside the hours.

BARB, thanks for the advice about the airline tickets.  I made a note and I check that out.  I wonder if they would actually let me fly on a ticket that someone else gave me even if my ID doesn't meet their requirements?

I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to tell us how you did that!  We're very interested (or is that word "nosy"?

Snowing here, too.  Very fine flakes but has already covered rooftops and decks.  Supposed to last into tomorrow.  Schools here and many surrounding counties are closed.  And it is cold!  🥶  I did my walking inside.

Take care,  All.

Colder and overcast - no telling what will fall or shine from the sky next... Big dental appointment tomorrow - a temporary made permanent and a recently chipped front tooth capped and a bridge to be installed - I'll be exhausted after - already have my soup - rather all this done now then in summer during our 'hanging in there' weather.

Amy interesting about the Wood coat - never heard of it so thanks for letting me know...

Jane I wonder if when someone buys a ticket as a gift if they can have your name as it appears on anything you have show - I guess you would have to find out what else is official other than a driver's license. Didn't you say you had a passport - maybe use it and just tell them you no longer drive and just haven't gone yet about an ID when you were gifted this ticket to visit Cindy. I'd also look into flying a private plane - seems they are not that expensive and they became very popular during Covid and now folks are using them to avoid the rigamarole commercial flying requires.

Good late morning at ten. I was up until two thanks to my neighbor below. I missed my meet and greets, and am late feeding Farrah and getting online. I also need to make coffee. I've already submitted three Tenant Complaint Form, so I am thinking of investigating other ways and means.

Denver

Good morning EVERYFRIEND.

The Sun is shine brightly and I am feeling so happy‼️

AMY, listen closely for a knock on your door.....I love bean soup and I will be joining you and Kyle for an imaginary bowl of it together ❣️  Sounds like you are paying for all that heavy work you did yesterday removing snow off of roofs😩 I know it needs to be done, but I worry about you having to do all the heavy work.

PHYLLIS, I am sorry you continue to have more snow and cold weather.  A friend of mine left out of Ft. Lauderdale FL on a cruise to Europe and she posted pictures this morning 0f the calm waters of the Atlantic....it was beautiful and nearly flat as a lake.  I was surprised as I expected it to be rough with all the storms that are in the East right now. Keep warm.

BARB, I am chuckling and feeling sad for you regarding the furnace issue.  I cannot tell you how many times I grumble at myself because I can no longer grab the bull by the horns and go do things myself.  I have issues come up and son and hubby just look at me like I am  crazy when I tell them different things.  I don't doubt I am a bit c R a Z y....but these issues are REAL‼️‼️
Now I see you are dealing with a whole lot more today......
'This has become a sitcom of the unexpected... at the point laughter is all that is left - can't rustle up any more outrage nor even annoyance..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

JANE, YIPPEE your travel to / from OK is all good❣️❣️❣️

Hubby is out for his walk and I am to be ready to GO when he returns.

Clinic just called nd I am to arrive at 8 AM for my second eye cataract surgery at 8AM.  I can not wait...I just want to get 'er done‼️‼️‼️

Have a good day.

Bright  sunny day that let me remove (rake) the snow off the last roof...NO more!! Got it all cleaned up with the snowblower and made a better trail for the mail lady to get  at our  mail box.
They say we are to get more snow tomorrow but really???  My frind sent a photo of her granddaughters dog and the snow they were blessed wih,we got off lucky as they have an accumulation  of 18 FEET!! She can't look out hger windows and roofs have been collapsing.

Barb, it has to be really cold to wear this jacket and keeps you very warm.

Jenny, there is lots of soup, I have yet to learn how to make a small pot of soup! Snow removale again today but that is it..now to wait till the next snow fall which could be tomorrow. :(

Phyllis, look at the snow from  inside your home...much safer!

Patricia, would it do any good to talk with his worker??

Going to be an early night again  I think..

Amy, I don't have access to that information. My only conduit is through the landlady. The state purchased this building along with seven others in 2016.  Since we're state owned, the building has to have available seven apartments for those disabled seniors with mental issues not severe enough for hospitalizations. This man has one of those apartments.

I turned in another complaint form today, and I don't know what the next step is. The median rent price for efficiencies and one bedrooms,  locally for January 2025 is $1,700. This is $150 more than January 2024. Plus there would be first month's rent amount deposit and then utility deposits plus a non-secured building and laundry costs. Very few rentals allow pets, and those that do, require a hefty pet deposit.

This building is secured, camera in all public areas, trash inside disposal per floor and free laundry on each floor, plus security and maintenance. Plus, the rent is just under the medium amount.

Wow Phyllis and you live outside Raleigh don't you... echo Amy, better watching from inside - safer in many ways... thanks Amy for the link... OK going in for a nap - miserable cold day and do not feel like starting anything - a bit nervous about all the dental work tomorrow so rather than getting into a stew I think a nap is in order...

phyllis

That is right, Barb.....shoulder to shoulder with Raleigh.  This is unusual weather for us so all schools were closed and some businesses.   People were asked to stay home and off the roads.  We just don't have the snow removal equipment  to deal with it.

Well, we didn't get any more snow today but it sure was cold out there!  When Frankie stopped over we had a nice visit and right before she was ready to toss him in the bath tub he told me he needed a walk.  So I took him and he made good time.  He didn't stop at every weed, rock and bush along the way.  It way toooooooooo cold!  But he did need the walk!

I probably won't make it in here in the morning.  I have an early drs appt and Cooper will be arriving at 6 a.m.  I'm going to be pressed for time getting ready for the appointment and taking care of Cooper.  Just miss me a little.  I try to get in around lunch time or so!  I'm heady for the haystack a bit early tonight and getting up a it early in the morning!

I wish you all a peaceful night'sleep and a great day tomorrow! Do what suits your fancy!

Good morning..

Yippie, tis warmer!! We are starting off at -2° and no new snow!  We need to do some banking this morning,  and then I  am going to coast the rest of the day.

Jenny, wishing you the best on your eye surgery today.

Phyllis, will your snow stay?

Patricia, you are between a rock and a hard place with your  noisy neighbour.

Better start the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Getting tired of this cold weather, but fortunately, we haven't had too much snow/ice, etc. Today is going to be pretty much a repeat of yesterday except, perhaps, an hour or so of snow showers. It is 14o now, getting up to about 24o.

Yesterday I had a nice time at a local pub with Sue and friends for her birthday. I ate half of a half-rack of ribs and fries and brought the rest home for today. Sue likes their cheese steak subs, so that is what she ordered. Next weekend we are planning on going out to celebrate our version of St. David's Day. We are on our own with this because the local Welsh Club disbanded around four or five years ago. I wonder if the local garden center near Hoss's will have potted, blooming daffodils for sale. It may be a bit early, though, because Daffodil Day is not until the last week of March.

Good morning Amy, et al.

JaneS

I'm home and changed back into my home clothes and ready for my lunch.  I didn't eat much breakfast because i was in a hurry to get ready for my dentist appt.  I had a cood appt.  They cleaned my teeth and didn't find any cavities!  HOORAY!!!

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  I'll try to get back later.  Have lots of stuff to catch up on.

Good Morning to you,
Good Morning to you,
We all in our places
With sunshiny faces!
Good Morning to you!
Good Morning to you!

This is how we opened every school day when I was in first grade.  I think we had a frustrated music teacher for first grade! But I loved it and I never forgot it!  And I never forgot Miss Coder!

Today is "what should I do" day!  I have all the stuff gathered to make my vegetable soup but I want to cook it on a day before I don't get Cooper so I have the day to myself to can it.  That won't be this week because I have him at 6 a.m. through Sunday.  I need to get her schedule for next week.

Right now we have 19 degrees with a "feels like temp of 13"  Oh Spring, where are you?  Please push this cold off to next winter!

I'm getting warm from our walk.  It sure does take a while after I get home.  I wish you all a great day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Do whatever suits your fancy!
